In the 1920s,Dr Otto Warburg first suggested the significant difference in energy metabolism between malignant cancer cells and adjacent normal cells.Tumor cells mainly adopt the glycolysis as energy source to maintai...In the 1920s,Dr Otto Warburg first suggested the significant difference in energy metabolism between malignant cancer cells and adjacent normal cells.Tumor cells mainly adopt the glycolysis as energy source to maintain tumor cell growth and biosynthesis under aerobic conditions.Investigation on energy metabolism pathway in cancer cells has aroused the interest of cancer researchers all around the world.In recent years,plentiful studics suggest that targeting the peculiar cancer energy metabolic pathways,including glycolysis,mitochondrial respiration,amino acid metabolism,and fatty acid oxidation may be an effective strategy to starve cancer cells by blocking essential nutrients.Natural products (NPs)are considered as the “treasure trove of small molecules drugs” and have played an extremely remarkable role in the discovery and development of anticancer drugs.And numerous NPs have been reported to act on cancer energy metabolism targets.Herein,a comprehensive overview about cancer energy metabolism targets and their natural-occurring inhibitors is prepared.展开更多
A novel copolymer with fluorescence properties in mesoporous silica SBA-15 was prepared via a combination of surface-initiated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer(RAFT) polymerization and "click" chem...A novel copolymer with fluorescence properties in mesoporous silica SBA-15 was prepared via a combination of surface-initiated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer(RAFT) polymerization and "click" chemistry.A sufficient amount of peroxide groups were introduced into mesoporous silica SBA-15 channel pores and were further used to initiate the RAFT polymerization of styrene and 4-vinylbenzyl azide,resulting in SBA-15 supported polystyrene-co-poly(4-vinylbenzyl azide) copolymer(PS-co-PVBA/SBA-15) hybrid material.The samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),thermogravimetry analysis(TGA),N_2 adsorption-desorption isotherms and X-ray diffraction(XRD),respectively.The results show that the styrene and 4-vinylbenzyl azide had copolymerized inside mesoporous silica SBA-15.Subsequently,Npropargyl-carbazole(PC) was connected to PS-co-PVBA/SBA-15 hybrid material via "click" reaction,resulting in PS-co-PVBC/SBA-15 with carbazole side groups hybrid material.The fluorescence spectrum is dominated by a broad band from 350 nm to 400 nm in narrow region and the maximum peak is 362 nm,indicating the characteristic absorption of the carbazole group of PS-co-PVBC/SBA-15 hybrid material.展开更多
Objective:This study investigated the mechanisms and efficacy of baikudong decoction(BKD)in colorectal cancer(CRC).Preliminary clinical validation suggests that BKD may reduce serum levels of tumor markers in cancer p...Objective:This study investigated the mechanisms and efficacy of baikudong decoction(BKD)in colorectal cancer(CRC).Preliminary clinical validation suggests that BKD may reduce serum levels of tumor markers in cancer patients.Materials and Methods:Network pharmacology analysis identified 195 active compounds in BKD,corresponding to 610 potential gene targets,of which 301 were highly relevant to CRC.Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes and Gene Ontology analyses highlighted several apoptosis-related pathways.In vitro and in vivo experiments,including cell proliferation and migration assays,flow cytometry,western blot analysis,and mouse xenograft models,were conducted to validate the efficacy and mechanism of BKD.Results:Both in vitro and in vivo studies confirmed that BKD induced apoptosis in CRC cells by activating caspase-3,inhibited cancer cell proliferation and migration,and exhibited anti-CRC activity.Clinically,33.33%of nine patients with CRC treated with BKD achieved a pathological complete response.Conclusions:BKD is effective in treating CRC through the induction of cancer cell apoptosis.The study demonstrated its efficacy in both mouse xenograft models and preliminary clinical practice.展开更多
