Studies on plant diversity are usually based on the total number of species in a community.However,few studies have examined species richness(SR)of different plant life forms in a community along largescale environmental gradients.Particularly,the relative importance(RIV)of different plant life forms in a community and how they vary with environmental variables are still unclear.To fill these gaps,we determined plant diversity of ephemeral plants,annual herbs,perennial herbs,and woody plants from 187 sites across drylands in China.The SR patterns of herbaceous plants,especially perennial herbs,and their RIV in plant communities increased with increasing precipitation and soil nutrient content;however,the RIV of annual herbs was not altered along these gradients.The SR and RIV of ephemeral plants were affected mainly by precipitation seasonality.The SR of woody plants had a unimodal relationship with air temperature and exhibited the highest RIV and SR percentage in plant communities under the harshest environments.An obvious shift emerged in plant community composition,SR and their critical impact factors at 238.5 mm of mean annual precipitation(MAP).In mesic regions(>238.5 mm),herbs were the dominant species,and the SR displayed a relatively slow decreasing rate with increasing aridity,which was mediated mainly by MAP and soil nutrients.In arid regions(<238.5 mm),woody plants were the dominant species,and the SR displayed a relatively fast decreasing rate with increasing aridity,which was mediated mainly by climate variables,especially precipitation.Our findings highlight the importance of comparative life form studies in community structure and biodiversity,as their responses to gradients differed substantially on a large scale. 展开更多

In order to investigate ecological adaptation mechanism of bryophyte,two dominant mosses Thuidium cymbifolium and Mnium immarginatum in Baotianman Nature Reserve were measured the content of C,N,P and their ratio in bryophyte and soil,and analyzed the relationships of plant and soil ecological stoichiometric characteristics along altitudinal gradients.Results indicate that the content of C,N and P in green tissues of T.cymbifolium and M.immarginatum in Baotianman Nature Reserve was 46.81%-49.09%,0.21%-0.25%,and0.02%-0.08%.Among the different altitudinal gradients,C,N and P displayed significant differences: the significantly different content of C and N were showed in T.cymbifolium,and the content of N and P differed significantly in M.immarginatum.However,only N declined obviously as increasing altitude.In soil,the C,N,N/P and C/P showed an increasing trend with increasing elevation,while the P and C/N along altitudinal gradients exhibited no unified trend.With the increasing in the content C,N of soil,the content C and N of T.cymbifolium raised,while the content C and N of M.immarginatum declined.With the rise in P element of soil,N/P showed different trends between two bryophyte species,the N/P in T.cymbifolium significantly decreased,while N/P in M.immarginatum significantly increased.In addition,mean value of leaf N/P was 8.51,ranking 14-16.These results suggested that the growth of the bryophyte plants in Baotianman Nature Reserve were restricted by N element,and different utilization strategies in soil P element in different bryophyte plants led to differences in ecological stoichiometric characteristics. 展开更多

Ecogeographical variation of 12 morphological traits within Pinus tabulaeformis: the effects of environmental factors and demographic histories 认领 引用

Aims More data are needed about how genetic variation(GV)and envi-ronmental factors influence phenotypic variation within the natural populations of long-lived species with broad geographic distribu-tions.To fill this gap,we examined the correlations among envi-ronmental factors and phenotypic variation within and among 13 natural populations of Pinus tabulaeformis consisting of four demo-graphically distinct groups within the entire distributional range.Methods Using the Akaike’s information Criterion(AiC)model,we measured 12 morphological traits and constructed alternative candidate models for the relationships between each morphological trait and key climatic variables and genetic groups.We then compared the AiC weight for each candidate model to identify the best approximating model for ecogeographical variation of P.tabulaeformis.The partitioning of vari-ance was assessed subsequently by evaluating the independent vari-ables of the selected best models using partial redundancy analysis.Important Findings Significant phenotypic variation of the morphological traits was observed both within individual populations and among populations.Variation partition analyses showed that most of the phenotypic variation was co-determined by both GV and climatic factors.GV accounted for the largest proportion of reproductive trait variation,whereas local key climatic factors(i.e.actual evapotranspiration,AET)accounted for the largest proportion of phenotypic variation in the remaining investigated traits.Our results indicate that both genetic divergence and key environmental factors affect the phenotypic variation observed among populations of this species,and that reproductive and vegetative traits adaptively respond differently with respect to local environmental conditions.This partitioning of factors can inform those making predictions about phenotypic variation in response to future changes in climatic conditions(particularly those affecting AET). 展开更多

RAS,a member of the small GTPase family,functions as a binary switch by shifting between inactive GDP-loaded and active GTP-loaded state.RAS gain-of-function mutations are one of the leading causes in human oncogenesis,accounting for w19%of the global cancer burden.As a well-recognized target in malignancy,RAS has been intensively studied in the past decades.Despite the sustained efforts,many failures occurred in the earlier exploration and resulted in an‘undruggable’feature of RAS proteins.Phosphorylation at several residues has been recently determined as regulators for wild-type and mutated RAS proteins.Therefore,the development of RAS inhibitors directly targeting the RAS mutants or towards upstream regulatory kinases supplies a novel direction for tackling the anti-RAS difficulties.A better understanding of RAS phosphorylation can contribute to future therapeutic strategies.In this review,we comprehensively summarized the current advances in RAS phosphorylation and provided mechanistic insights into the signaling transduction of associated pathways.Importantly,the preclinical and clinical success in developing anti-RAS drugs targeting the upstream kinases and potential directions of harnessing allostery to target RAS phosphorylation sites were also discussed. 展开更多
