Objective Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of Chinese patent medicines and classic tra-ditional Chinese medicine prescriptions were systematically reviewed from both Chinese and English journals published in 2023.A p...Objective Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of Chinese patent medicines and classic tra-ditional Chinese medicine prescriptions were systematically reviewed from both Chinese and English journals published in 2023.A preliminary summary and evaluation were conducted on the generation and translation of clinical evidence for these treatments.This analysis aims to inform future research on clinical efficacy evaluation and guide the rational application of evidence.Methods RCTs of Chinese patent medicines and classic traditional Chinese prescriptions published in 2023 were comprehensively retrieved from the Artificial Intelligence Clinical Evi-dence Database for Chinese Patent Medicine(AICED-CPM),with supplementary searches conducted in China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang Data,Chinese Sci-ence and Technology Journal Database(VIP),Chinese Biomedical Literature Database(SinoMed),Cochrane Library,PubMed,Embase,and Web of Science.The study characteris-tics and methodological quality of these RCTs were systematically analyzed and evaluated.Results A total of 1443 RCTs of Chinese patent medicines were included,comprising 1399 Chinese articles and 44 English articles.Additionally,334 RCTs of classic traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions were found,with 331 published in Chinese and 3 in English.196567 participants were included,covering 585 types of Chinese patent medicines(487 oral,61 in-jectable,and 37 topical)and 179 classic traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions.The in-volved studies encompassed 22 types of diseases,with research primarily focusing on dis-eases of the circulatory system,the respiratory system,and the genitourinary system.The sample sizes ranged from 18 to 3777 participants,and most studies were conducted at a sin-gle center.Methodologically,the implementation of allocation concealment and blinding re-mained insufficiently emphasized.Conclusion Overall,compared with 2022,both the number of RCT publications and their methodological quality have improved in 2023,with heightened attention to research on diseases of the genitourinary system.However,quality control and standardized management in the design and implementation processes still require enhancement to produce more high-quality clinical evidence and accelerate the translation and application of this evidence.展开更多
Inverse reinforcement learning optimal control is under the framework of learner-expert.The learner system can imitate the expert system's demonstrated behaviors and does not require the predefined cost function,s...Inverse reinforcement learning optimal control is under the framework of learner-expert.The learner system can imitate the expert system's demonstrated behaviors and does not require the predefined cost function,so it can handle optimal control problems effectively.This paper proposes an inverse reinforcement learning optimal control method for Takagi-Sugeno(T-S)fuzzy systems.Based on learner systems,an expert system is constructed,where the learner system only knows the expert system's optimal control policy.To reconstruct the unknown cost function,we firstly develop a model-based inverse reinforcement learning algorithm for the case that systems dynamics are known.The developed model-based learning algorithm is consists of two learning stages:an inner reinforcement learning loop and an outer inverse optimal control loop.The inner loop desires to obtain optimal control policy via learner's cost function and the outer loop aims to update learner's state-penalty matrices via only using expert's optimal control policy.Then,to eliminate the requirement that the system dynamics must be known,a data-driven integral learning algorithm is presented.It is proved that the presented two algorithms are convergent and the developed inverse reinforcement learning optimal control scheme can ensure the controlled fuzzy learner systems to be asymptotically stable.Finally,we apply the proposed fuzzy optimal control to the truck-trailer system,and the computer simulation results verify the effectiveness of the presented approach.展开更多

The biotransformation enzymes 7-ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase (EROD), reduced glutathione (GSH) content, catalase activities (CAT) and lipoperoxidation (as MDA) in liver were determined as stress-related biomarkers during the field exposure period. At the same time, the contents of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) and heavy metals in the surface sediments of biomonitoring sites were also determined. The results indicate that the in situ exposed organisms were stressed. The marked increases of EROD, GSH, CAT and MDA in transplanted animals, suggested their potential application as biomarkers in pollution monitoring. Integrated biomarker response (IBR) was used to evaluate an integrated impact of toxicants from different polluted sites.展开更多

The present study investigated the therapeutic window of Qingkailing injection for focal cerebral ischemiaeperfusion in mice. Animals underwent middle cerebral artery occlusion and were injected with Qingkailing (1.5, 3, 6 mL/kg). Infarct volume and neurological function were assessed after 24 hours of ischemia. In addition, to establish the therapeutic time window, mice were injected with 3 mL/kg Qingkailing at 0, 1, 3, 4, 6, 9 and 12 hours after occlusion. Results revealed that Qingkailing injection significantly reduced infarct volume and improved neurological function in model mice after cerebral infarction for up to 9 hours, demonstrating that the therapeutic window of Qingkailing injection can extend to 9 hours for cerebral ischemiaeperfusion in mice.展开更多
Effects of river water from the Yangtze River (Nanjing section) on fish development, vitellogenin (VTG) induction, gonado-somatic index (GSI) and sex ratio were investigated by exposing goldfish (Carassius aura...Effects of river water from the Yangtze River (Nanjing section) on fish development, vitellogenin (VTG) induction, gonado-somatic index (GSI) and sex ratio were investigated by exposing goldfish (Carassius auratus) in the early life stage (from fertilization to 28 days post-hatch) to water samples (25%, 50% and 100%) collected from three representative sections. The results showed that there was no significant effect on hatching success for any of the exposure groups, but survival was significantly reduced when compared with the control (P 0.05). Body lengths, weights of all treated fish did not differ significantly from those of the control. Condition factors (CF) of larval fish exposed to 50% and 100% river water from the Jiangxinzhou section and 100% river water from the Daqiao section were significantly lower than that of the control (P 0.05). VTG inductions were significant in larval fish exposed to all the dilution series of river water. No significant difference in CF value was observed in any exposure group after 150 days of depuration. VTG was fully eliminated after 75 days of depuration. For both female and male, GSI did not significantly differ between exposure groups and the control after 150 days of convalescence. The highest female:male ratios were observed in response to the treatment with 50% or 100% river water from the Jiangxinzhou section and 100% river water from the Daqiao section (53:47, 56:44 and 54:46, respectively), but no significant difference in sex ratio was observed in any treated group when compared to the control. The results showed that early life stage exposure of river water from the Yangtze River (Nanjing section) had adverse effects on goldfish development and reproductive health, and the effects on CF and VTG were reversible after depuration in clean water.展开更多
Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome is an integral and essential component of TCM theory,and goes beyond philosophic concepts.This article reviews the concept of TCM syndromes and summarizes research findings on...Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome is an integral and essential component of TCM theory,and goes beyond philosophic concepts.This article reviews the concept of TCM syndromes and summarizes research findings on the biologic foundation of syndromes.In addition,insight is provided into the promotion of standardization of syndrome classification by enforcing uniformity of TCM terminology,applying standardized diagnostic criteria and operating procedures to minimize subjective effects.Also incorporating interdisciplinary approaches such as data mining and structure modeling,as well as integrating findings on biomarker research are discussed.Consideration is made of the fundamental TCM aspects of syndrome elements,symptoms,phenotypic features,as well as diseases,to form an integral process in the diagnostic path.We believe that better understanding of the biologic basis of the TCM syndrome and standardization of syndrome classification will improve diagnosis,which in turn will enhance therapeutic efficacy and disease prognosis.展开更多
Elevated lactate levels are a hallmark of severe infections and are associated with poor outcomes in sepsis patients,but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood.Recent findings have shown that lactate can c...Elevated lactate levels are a hallmark of severe infections and are associated with poor outcomes in sepsis patients,but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood.Recent findings have shown that lactate can covalently modify histones(e.g.,histone lactylation)in macrophages,acting as a critical epigenetic regulator of inflammatory response.Here,we demonstrate that histone lactylation also occurs in neutrophils—the first immune cells mobilized during acute inflammation—and is functionally important for their activation.Using both DMSO-differentiated HL-60(d HL-60)cells and primary neutrophils,we found that LPS stimulation significantly increased intracellular lactate levels and histone lactylation,particularly at the H4K8 site.These changes enhanced cytokine release,ROS production,and chemotaxis.Lactate further amplified these effects,while inhibition of glycolysis or p300 suppressed them.Multi-omics analyses revealed substantial enrichment of H4K8la at the promoter region of WTAP,a key m6A methyltransferase component,promoting its expression via CEBP/βrecruitment.WTAP knockdown significantly reduced m6A modifications of TLR2 m RNA and impaired its stability.Both WTAP knockdown and TLR2 inhibition markedly dampened the inflammatory responses.Importantly,this glycolysis-H4K8la-WTAP-TLR2 axis was further validated in LPS-induced septic mice and pediatric sepsis patients,highlighting its clinical relevance.In summary,our findings uncover a novel lactate-driven epigenetic—post-transcriptional regulatory circuit that amplifies neutrophil inflammatory responses,expanding the regulatory framework of innate immunity and providing potential therapeutic targets for hyperinflammation.展开更多
