Knowing the precise relationship between fuel loading and reactivity is essential for guiding reactor criticality extrapolation and online refueling in molten salt reactors(MSRs).This study aims to explore and explain the linear relationship between reactivity and the reciprocal of uranium concentration in thermal-spectrum MSRs.By applying neutron balance theory,we analyzed the neutron absorption cross sections of various nuclides in single-lattice models with varying fuel concentrations.Our findings reveal a simple linear correlation between reactivity and the reciprocal of uranium concentration,which can be explained from the perspective of nuclear reaction cross sections that adhere to the 1/v law in the thermal neutron spectrum.Furthermore,we identified that the neutron absorption single-group cross sections of structural materials and carrier salts exhibit an approximately linear relationship with the fission single-group cross section of 235 U;similarly,the reciprocal of 235U’s fission cross section exhibits an approximately linear relationship with uranium concentration.This linear relationship deviates as the volume fraction of molten salt increases,due to a greater proportion of neutrons being captured in the resonance energy spectrum.However,it remains valid for molten salt volume fractions up to 25%and demonstrates broad applicability in the physical design and operation of thermal molten salt reactors. 展开更多

In this study,we aimed to investigate the influence of paternal oligozoospermia(OZ),asthenozoospermia(AZ),or teratozoospermia(TZ)on blastocyst ploidy and its potential interaction with maternal age.We analyzed 3383 embryos in 1091 preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy(PGT-A)cycles via next-generation sequencing(NGS)at the Center for Reproductive Medicine,Shandong University(Jinan,China).Our findings revealed that compared to the normozoospermic(NZ)group,the AZ group exhibited significantly lower euploidy rates(P=0.022).This effect was more pronounced in cases with advanced maternal age(AMA;≥38 years),where AZ patients had markedly reduced euploidy rates(P=0.003),while no significant differences were observed in younger women(<38 years).Multivariate analysis,adjusting for parental age and body mass index(BMI),confirmed that AZ is an independent risk factor for reduced euploidy rates in the AMA subgroup.Notably,OZ and TZ cases showed no significant association with blastocyst ploidy rates.These results suggest that only in cases of advanced maternal age,impaired sperm motility adversely affect blastocyst euploidy rates. 展开更多

Meiotic DNA double-strand break(DSB)formation is pivotal for oocyte development,regulating both ovarian reserve and oocyte developmental potential.Mutations in DSB formation genes have been associated with premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)and adverse pregnancy outcomes in women.Whole exome sequencing in 1530 POI patients across two Chinese cohorts identifies loss-of-function variants in the DSB formation gene,MEI4,enriched in POI.These MEI4 variants impair DSB formation in vitro and reveal a previously unrecognized function of the MEI4 C-terminus in stabilizing the MEI4-REC114 subcomplex on the chromosome axes.Additionally,Mei4Arg356*/Arg356*mice display severe defects in DSB formation,leading to massive apoptosis in oocytes triggered by the HORMAD1-dependent synapsis checkpoint in late prophase I.The few mutant oocytes surviving past the checkpoint exhibit low developmental potential,characterized by complete early embryonic arrest due to aneuploidy.Notably,heterozygous Mei4+/Arg356*mice show intermediate follicle depletion and embryonic development arrest consistent with the phenotype of heterozygous POI and preimplantation embryonic arrest,suggesting a haploinsufficiency effect.This study defines the impacts of MEI4 mutation on oocyte quantity and quality,which can guide genetic diagnosis and intervention in patients with POI and early embryonic arrest,especially those with mutations in meiotic DSB formation genes. 展开更多

Porous NiTi alloys are widely used in biomedical and engineering fields.Using the PBF-LB technique,the TPMS and Voronoi porous parts with a porosity of~67%and a minimum feature size of 0.15±0.02 mm were fabricated.Although the bulk sample fabricated with the same parameters is defect-free,µ-CT reconstruction on the porous sample revealed inevitable defects with a volume fraction of 0.23%-0.43%and sizes ranging from 15 to 65µm.For the two structures,a significant increase in thickness of the horizontal walls or struts was observed,with obvious fluctuations at the bottom contours.The limited epitaxial growth of B2grains due to heat conduction constraints and weakened crystallographic texture were observed.Considering the optimized low-temperature aging(450℃/1 h)that promotes the formation of a high-volume fraction of R phase leading to superior elongation of 18.8%in bulk sample,this treatment was applied to the porous structures to prevent premature fracture during compression.Based on compressive cyclic tests,the mechanical properties as well as the functional properties were investigated.Results revealed that the designed porosity indeed affects the ultimate strength and Young's modulus,but the spatial configuration as TPMS or Voronoi gives a limited influence on the recovery property for the porous NiTi alloy.The mechanical recoverable strain presently peaks at 4.2%when the applied compressive strain reached at 21.3%.This study provides theoretical evidence for tailoring structures at both macro and micro levels to achieve the desired mechanical and recovery properties for porous NiTi alloys. 展开更多

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF) emitters show great potential in photodynamic therapy(PDT) and bioimaging,leveraging their structural adaptability,efficient reverse intersystem crossing(RISC),robust photosensitizing capability,and high photoluminescence quantum yields(PLQYs).Herein,we developed a new class of donor-acceptor-donor(D-A-D)-type TADF materials by connecting the highly twisted indolizine-benzophenone electron acceptors with a series of electron donors including phenoxazine,phenothiazine and 9,9-dimethyl-9,10-dihydroacridine.These materials exhibit enhanced TADF properties,aggregation-induced emission(AIE),alongside high reactive oxygen species(ROS) generation efficiency,effectively mitigating aggregation-caused quenching observed in traditional fluorophores.Among them,IDP-p-PXZ,incorporating the phenoxazine donor,stands out with the smallest singlet-triplet splitting energy(ΔEST) and the highest spin-orbit coupling matrix elements(SOCMEs).Upon encapsulation into 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[methoxy(polyethylene glycol)-2000](DSPE-PEG2000) nanoparticles(NPs),IDP-p-PXZ demonstrates extended delayed fluorescence lifetimes in air,an exceptionally fast intersystem crossing(ISC) rate constant(kISC) of 3.4×107s-1,and a radiative rate constant(kr) of 5.05×106s-1.These NPs exhibit superior biocompatibility,efficient cellular internalization,and potent ROS production,enabling effective simultaneous PDT and confocal fluorescence imaging in HeLa cells. 展开更多

High-voltage electric pulse(HVEP)rock fragmentation has demonstrated substantial potential for sustainable fracturing of hard rocks owing to its energy efficiency.The transient nature and highly disruptive characteristics of its physical fracturing process render experimental investigation of the underlying rock-breaking mechanisms challenging.However,existing numerical studies lack comprehensive models that precisely link electrical breakdown phenomena with mechanical disintegration processes.This study combines COMSOL electrical breakdown simulations with four-dimension lattice spring model(4D-LSM)mechanical analysis to establish a coupled HVEP rock fragmentation model.The core concept of the model construction is to import the temperature field of the plasma channel obtained from the electrical breakdown into the mechanical solver to realize the precise connection between the two stages.The validated numerical model elucidates the full process of HVEP-induced fragmentation under varying electrical parameters.Furthermore,the effects of confining pressure and mineral grain size on fragmentation behavior have been investigated.Finally,parametric simulations across 25 electrical parameter combinations demonstrate the critical role of electrode spacing optimization in achieving energy-efficient rock fragmentation.These findings provide a predictive tool for designing efficient HVEP systems in deep resource extraction and mineral processing engineering. 展开更多

Molten salt reactors,being the only reactor type among Generation Ⅳ advanced nuclear reactors that utilize liquid fuels,offer inherent safety,high-temperature,and low-pressure operation,as well as the capability for online fuel reprocessing.However,the fuel-salt flow results in the decay of delayed neutron precursors(DNPs)outside the core,causing fluctuations in the effective delayed neutron fraction and consequently impacting the reactor reactivity.Particularly in accident scenarios—such as a combined pump shutdown and the inability to rapidly scram the reactor—the sole reliance on negative temperature feedback may cause a significant increase in core temperature,posing a threat to reactor safety.To address these problems,this paper introduces an innovative design for a passive fluid-driven suspended control rod(SCR)to dynamically compensate for reactivity fluctuations caused by DNPs flowing with the fuel.The control rod operates passively by leveraging the combined effects of gravity,buoyancy,and fluid dynamic forces,thereby eliminating the need for an external drive mechanism and enabling direct integration within the active region of the core.Using a 150 MWt thorium-based molten salt reactor as the reference design,we develop a mathematical model to systematically analyze the effects of key parameters—including the geometric dimensions and density of the SCR—on its performance.We examine its motion characteristics under different core flow conditions and assess its feasibility for the dynamic compensation of reactivity changes caused by fuel flow.The results of this study demonstrate that the SCR can effectively counteract reactivity fluctuations induced by fuel flow within molten salt reactors.A sensitivity analysis reveals that the SCR’s average density exerts a profound impact on its start-up flow threshold,channel flow rate,resistance to fuel density fluctuations,and response characteristics.This underscores the critical need to optimize this parameter.Moreover,by judiciously selecting the SCR’s length,number of deployed units,and the placement we can achieve the necessary reactivity control while maintaining a favorable balance between neutron economy and heat transfer performance.Ultimately,this paper provides an innovative solution for the passive reactivity control in molten salt reactors,offering significant potential for practical engineering applications. 展开更多

Arsenic(As)pollution in coastal wetlands has been receiving growing attention.However,the exact mechanism of As mobility driven by tidal action is still not completely understood.The results reveal that lower total As concentrations in solution were observed in the flood-ebb treatment(FE),with the highest concentration being 7.1μg/L,and As(V)was the predominant species.However,elevated levels of total As in solution were found in the flooded treatment(FL),with a maximum value of 14.5μg/L after 30 days,and As(III)was the predominant form.The results of dissolved organicmatter(DOM)suggest that in the early to mid-stages of the incubation,fulvic acid-like substances might be utilized by microorganisms as electron donors or shuttle bodies,facilitating the reductive release of As/Fe from sediments.Both flood-ebb and flooded treatments promoted the transformation of crystalline iron hydrous oxides-bound As into residual forms.However,prolonged flooded conditions more readily facilitated the formation of specific adsorption forms of As and the reduction of crystalline iron hydrous oxides-bound As,increasing As mobility.In addition,the flood-ebb tides have been found to increase the diversity ofmicrobial populations.The main microbial genera in the flood-ebb treatment included Salinimicrobium,Erythrobacter,Yangia,Sulfitobacter,and Marinobacter.Bacillus,Psychrobacter,and Yangia showed a significant correlation with As(V).In flooded treatment,Bacillus,Pseudomonas,and Geothermobacter played a major role in the reduction and release of As.This study significantly contributes to the current understanding of how As behaves in diverse natural environments. 展开更多

Salt caverns are widely used for energy storage.During gas storage,the internal gas pressure fluctuates cyclically in response to energy demand,making it essential to assess how these pressure variations affect rock deformation.In this study,experiments were conducted under different cyclic gas pressure conditions to investigate this effect.The findings indicate that(1)the deformation process of salt rock can be segmented into three stages:the deceleration stage,the steady-state stage,and the acceleration stage.(2)When the axial pressure remains constant,both axial and radial deformations exhibit a stepwise increasing trend in response to cyclic gas pressure variations.Similarly,under axial graded loading,the deformations also demonstrate a progressive rise.By analyzing the deformation differences and model coefficient fluctuations within a single gas pressure cycle,it is found that radial deformation is higher sensitive to changes in cyclic gas pressure.(3)The axial deformation shows a stepwise increase,and the radial deformation showed a cyclic change with changing gas pressure.Therefore,the cyclic gas pressure influence factor α,axial loading influence factor β,and state variable σ*are introduced to develop a viscoplastic ontological model that accounts for the impacts of cyclic gas pressure,confining pressure and axial stress.Validated by the deformation data,the new model can better fit both the axial deformation and the radial deformation of the three stages and has strong applicability and accuracy by changing only fewer parameters.The state variable rate shows the same stage as the deformation rate and residual strain of salt rock,which can better reflect the internal hardening of salt rock. 展开更多

The development of efficient low-load platinum catalysts for CO oxidation is critical for large-scale industrial applications and environmental protection.In this study,a strategy of N2treatment triggered the self-reforming into fully exposed Pt cluster catalysts was proposed.By adjusting the coordination environment of Pt species on the defect support through N2treatment,the CO catalytic activity was significantly enhanced,achieving complete CO oxidation at 130℃with a Pt loading of only 0.1 wt.%.The turnover frequency of N2-treated PtFEC/Ti-D at 160℃was 18.3 times that of untreated PtSA/Ti-D.Comprehensive characterization results indicated that the N2treatment of the Pt single-atom defect catalyst facilitated the reconfiguration and evolution of the defect structure,leading to the aggregation of Pt single atoms into fully exposed Pt clusters.Notably,these fully exposed Pt clusters exhibited a reduced coordination of Pt–O in the first coordination shell compared to single atoms,which resulted in the formation of Pt–Pt metal coordination.This unique coordination structure enhanced the adsorption and activation of CO and O2on the catalyst,thereby resulting in exceptionally low-temperature CO oxidation activity.This work demonstrates a promising strategy for the design,synthesis,and industrial application of efficient low-platinum load catalysts. 展开更多

The catalyst cost is a key factor limiting the CO purification of sintering flue gas.Here,an ultra-low-loading high-entropy catalyst was prepared by simple calcination process.By anchoring multiple active metal sites in the stable anatase TiO2phase,it shows efficient CO catalytic oxidation activity.The metal components(Pt,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni)were uniformly dispersed on the surface of TiO2in the form of high-entropy compounds and undergo strong metal and support interaction with TiO2.The results showed that 0.1(PtMnFeCoNi)/TiO2achieved complete oxidation of CO at 230℃,and its catalytic oxidation ability was significantly better than that of the corresponding monometallic and bimetallic catalysts.The high-entropy component adjusts the electronic environment between the TiO2support and the metal to promote the reduction of the Ti3dband gap,enhances the electron-induced ability of the catalytic system to gas molecules(CO and O2),and exhibits excellent resistance to SO2and H2O.The work is of great significance to understand the synergistic regulation of catalyst activity by multiple metal at the atomic level and provides a strategy for effectively reducing the content of precious metals in the catalyst. 展开更多

To investigate the effect of structural variation of rye 6RL arms on their meiotic behavior and to locate powdery mildew resistance gene(s),we developed a wheat–rye T6BS.6RLArtranslocation chromosome and its deleted translocations,T6BS.6RLAr-2 and T6BS.6RLAr-4.Some 6RL-specific markers were used to determine that the segments from 733.91 to 849.52 Mb and from 832.72 Mb to the telomere of 6RLArarms were deleted from T6BS.6RLAr-2 and T6BS.6RLAr-4,respectively.Translocations T6BS.6RLArand T6BS.6RLAr-4 were resistant to powdery mildew and T6BS.6RLAr-2 was susceptible.The segment of 6RLArwith powdery mildew resistance was about 100 Mb.Deletion of the 6RLArtelomeric region inhibited the pairing and recombination of T6BS.6RLAr-4.Compared with T6BS.6RLArand T6BS.6RLAr-4,T6BS.6RLAr-2 showed a normal meiotic behavior.Immunolocalization using anti-ZYP1,anti-DMC1 and anti-MLH1 proteins indicated that more DSBs(DNA double-strand breaks)and crossovers formed on the 6RLArarm in T6BS.6RLAr,and this might be related to the formation of anaphase I bridges of 6RLAr.Although the 6RLArdeletions were used to physically locate powdery mildew resistance gene(s),more accurate location through meiotic recombination was needed.The results in this study indicated that altering the structure of the 6RLArarm promoted normal meiotic behavior,and this might facilitate the localization of resistance genes through meiotic homologous recombination. 展开更多

Deep learning techniques have recently been the most popular method for automatically detecting bridge damage captured by unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).However,their wider application to real-world scenarios is hindered by three challenges:①defect scale variance,motion blur,and strong illumination significantly affect the accuracy and reliability of damage detectors;②existing commonly used anchor-based damage detectors struggle to effectively generalize to harsh real-world scenarios;and③convolutional neural networks(CNNs)lack the capability to model long-range dependencies across the entire image.This paper presents an efficient Vision Transformer-enhanced anchor-free YOLO(you only look once)method to address these challenges.First,a concrete bridge damage dataset was established,augmented by motion blur and varying brightness.Four key enhancements were then applied to an anchor-based YOLO method:①Four detection heads were introduced to alleviate the multi-scale damage detection issue;②decoupled heads were employed to address the conflict between classification and bounding box regression tasks inherent in the original coupled head design;③an anchor-free mechanism was incorporated to reduce the computational complexity and improve generalization to real-world scenarios;and④a novel Vision Transformer block,C3MaxViT,was added to enable CNNs to model long-range dependencies.These enhancements were integrated into an advanced anchor-based YOLOv5l algorithm,and the proposed Vision Transformer-enhanced anchor-free YOLO method was then compared against cutting-edge damage detection methods.The experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method,with an increase of 8.1%in mean average precision at intersection over union threshold of 0.5(mAP50)and an improvement of 8.4%in mAP@[0.5:.05:.95]respectively.Furthermore,extensive ablation studies revealed that the four detection heads,decoupled head design,anchor-free mechanism,and C3MaxViT contributed improvements of 2.4%,1.2%,2.6%,and 1.9%in mAP50,respectively. 展开更多

The molten salt fast reactor(MSFR) shows great promise with high breeding ratio(BR),large negative temperature coefficient of reactivity,high thermal-electric conversion efficiency,inherent safety,and online reprocessing.Based on an improved MSFR optimized by adding axial fertile salt and a graphite reflector,the influences of ~7Li enrichment on Th-U breeding are investigated,aiming to provide a feasible selection for the molten salt with high fissile breeding and a relatively low technology requirement for ~7Li concentration.With the self-developed molten salt reactor reprocessing sequence based on SCALE6.1,the burn-up calculations with online reprocessing are carried out.Parameters are explored including BR,233U production,double time(DT),spectrum,~6Li inventory,neutron absorption,and the tritium production.The results show that the Li enrichment of 99.95% is appropriate in the fast fission reactor.In this case,BR above 1.10 can be achieved for a long time,corresponding to the 233U production of130 kg per year and DT of 36 years.After 80 years' operation,the tritium production for 99.5% is only about 7kg,and there is no obvious increase compared to that for 99.9995%. 展开更多

Background: The present experiment was performed to assess the effects of different sources of milk on the growth performance, serum metabolism, immunity, and intestinal development of calves. Eighty-four Holstein male neonatal calves were assigned to one of the following four treatment groups: those that received bunk tank milk(BTM), untreated waste milk(UWM), pasteurized waste milk(PWM), and acidified waste milk(AWM) for 21 d.Results: Calves in the BTM and AWM groups consumed more starter(P < 0.05) than those in the UWM group.Average daily gain in the UWM group was the highest(P < 0.05). Calves exhibited the highest(P < 0.05) serum total protein, albumin, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein, triglycerides, growth hormone, immunoglobulin(Ig) A and Ig M concentrations in the UWM group, highest malondialdehyde and tumor necrosis factor-α in the PWM group(P < 0.05), and highest glutathione peroxidase and Ig G in the BTM group(P < 0.05). The jejunum and ileum of the calves in all treatments presented a slight inflammatory response. The jejunal inflammation scores were higher(P < 0.05) in the UWM and AWM groups than the BTM group; the ileal inflammation scores increased more(P < 0.05) in the AWM group than the BTM group. Jejunal immunohistochemical scores(IHS) were higher(P < 0.05) in the PWM and AWM groups than the BTM group. Compared to the other three groups, calves feeding on BTM had lower(P < 0.05) ileal IHS. Jejunal interleukin(IL)-1β, IL-8, and IL-10 mRNA expression in the UWM group was the highest(P < 0.05). Calves fed AWM increased(P < 0.05) mRNA expression of IL-8 and toll like receptor 4(TLR-4) in the jejunum and IL-8, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, and IL-10 in the mesenteric lymph nodes.Conclusions: Overall, bunk tank milk is the best choice for calf raising compared to waste milk. The efficiency of feeding pasteurized and acidified waste milk are comparable, and the acidification of waste milk is an acceptable labor-saving and diarrhea-preventing feed for young calves. 展开更多

The solid-fueled thorium molten salt reactor(TMSR-SF1) is a 10 MWth test reactor design to be deployed in 5-10 years by the TMSR group.Its design combines coated particle fuel and molten FLiBe coolant for great intrinsic safety features and economic advantages.Due to a large amount of beryllium in the coolant salt,photoneutrons are produced by(y,n) reaction,hence the increasing fraction of effective delayed neutrons in the core by the photoneutrons originating from the long-lived fission products.Some of the delayed photoneutron groups are of long lifetime,so a direct effect is resulted in the transient process and reactivity measurement.To study the impact of photoneutrons for TMSR-SF1,the effective photoneutron fraction is estimated using k-ratio method and performed by the Monte Carlo code(MCNP5) with ENDF/B-Ⅶ cross sections.Based on the coupled neutronphoton point kinetics equations,influence of the photoneutrons is analyzed.The results show that the impact of photoneutrons is not negligible in reactivity measurement.Without considering photoneutrons in on-line reactivity measurement based on inverse point kinetics can result in overestimation of the positive reactivity and underestimation of the negative reactivity.The photoneutrons also lead to more waiting time for the doubling time measurement.Since the photoneutron precursors take extremely long time to achieve equilibrium,a "steady" power operation may not directly imply a "real" criticality. 展开更多

In this study,a numerical flow model of the fission products(FPs)in the primary loop system of a molten salt reactor(MSR)was established and solved using Mathematica 7.0.The simulation results were compared with those of the ORIGEN-S program in the static burnup mode,and the deviation was found to be less than 10%,which indicates that the results are in good agreement.Furthermore,the FPs distribution in the primary loop system under normal operating conditions of the 2 MW MSR was quantitatively analyzed.In addition,the distribution phenomenon of the FPs under different flow rate conditions was studied.At the end of life,the FPs activity in the core region(including active region,and upper and lower plenum regions)accounted for 77.3%,and that in the hot leg #1,main pump,hot leg #2,heat exchanger,and cold leg region accounted for 1.2%,16.15%,0.99%,2.5%,and 1.9%,respectively,of the total FPs in the primary loop under normal operating conditions.The proportion of FPs in the core decreased with the increase in flow rate in the range of 2.24-22,400 cm^3 s^-1.The established analytical method and conclusions of this study can provide an important basis for radiation safety design of the primary loop,radioactive source management design,thermal-hydraulic safety analysis,and radiochemical analysis of FPs of 2 MW MSRs. 展开更多
