Latent fingerprints are crucial for suspect identification and crime scene reconstruction.While 1,2-indanedione-based fingerprint development techniques demonstrate high sensitivity in reacting with amino acids presen...Latent fingerprints are crucial for suspect identification and crime scene reconstruction.While 1,2-indanedione-based fingerprint development techniques demonstrate high sensitivity in reacting with amino acids present in fingerprint residue and good adaptability to porous substrates,their practical value is constrained by environmental instability,operational complexity,and reliance on high-temperature treatments.Drawing inspiration from the enhanced visualisation of fingerprints deposited by skincare product users,this study innovatively introduced propylene glycol and glycerol as cosolvents into the 1,2-indanedione formulation.The hydroxyl groups of these additives form stable hemiketal adducts with 1,2-indanedione’s carbonyl moieties,thereby accelerating reaction kinetics with amino acids and amplifying fluorescence intensity.The optimisation results indicate that the new formulation,incorporating 2 mL of propylene glycol as a cosolvent,eliminates thermal treatment and boosts the fingerprint development rate on copy paper from 71%to 93%.Additionally,the optimised 1,2-indanedione working solution reduces methanol content by 75%,achieving dual benefits of reduced toxicity and superior fluorescence emission.Systematic evaluations confirm the method’s robustness across diverse substrates and its ability to develop aged fingerprints(up to 8 months under ambient conditions)without thermal assistance.Crucially,comparative analyses of pre-and post-treatment document examination and biological assays confirm that the optimised protocol not only enhances fingerprint visualisation but also preserves forensic integrity for downstream analyses.This breakthrough establishes a practical framework for integrating the optimised 1,2-indanedione formulation into multimodal forensic workflows.展开更多
In many countries,bare footprints collected from crime scenes can be used as evidence for forensic identification,which involves the linear measurement of quantitative characteristics.Compared with several other metho...In many countries,bare footprints collected from crime scenes can be used as evidence for forensic identification,which involves the linear measurement of quantitative characteristics.Compared with several other methods of footprint measurement,the Reel method has been proven to be reliable and has been used in many countries.The Chinese method for bare footprint measurement is the official method issued by Ministry of Public Security of China,but its reliability has not been tested.This study focuses on the reliability test of the Chinese method for bare footprint measurement,which can serve as a reference for the verification in the process of footprint identification.Sixty-four volunteers were randomly selected to make dust and inked footprints,and five metrics of each footprint were measured and re-measured by three raters to test the reliability.These metrics consisted of four main ones from the Chinese method,with one from the Reel method for comparison.Based on intraclass correlation coefficients,the standard error of measurement and 95%Bland-Altman limits of agreement,test-retest reliability,and rater reliability within and among three raters were analysed.The Chinese method finally demonstrated a high degree of reliability.Although the Reel method achieved a marginally higher reliability score,its advantage was slight.Furthermore,the Chinese method for bare footprint measurement is not only reliable but also simple to operate,making it a viable supplement to the Reel method in contexts outside of China.In the process of footprint identification in China,when footprints are re-measured or measured by different appraisers for verification,the reliability values given in this paper could be used as a reference.展开更多
Fingerprints with similar morphological characteristics but from different individuals can lead to errors in individual identification,especially when dealing with large databases containing millions of fingerprints.T...Fingerprints with similar morphological characteristics but from different individuals can lead to errors in individual identification,especially when dealing with large databases containing millions of fingerprints.To address this issue and enhance the accuracy of similar fingerprint identification,the use of the likelihood ratio(LR)model for quantitative evaluation of fingerprint evidence has emerged as an effective research method.In this study,the LR fingerprint evidence evaluation model was established by using mathematical statistical methods,such as parameter estimation and hypothesis testing.This involved various steps,including database construction,scoring,fitting,calculation,and visual evaluation.Under the same-source conditions,the optimal parameter methods selected by different number of minutiae are gamma and Weibull distribution,while normal,Weibull,and lognormal distributions were the fitting parameters selected for minutiae configurations.The fitting parameters selected by different number of minutiae under different-source conditions are lognormal distribution,and the parameter methods selected for different minutiae configurations include Weibull,gamma,and lognormal distributions.The results of the LR model showed increased accuracy as the number of minutiae increased,indicating strong discriminative and corrective power.However,the accuracy of the LR evaluation based on different configurations was comparatively lower.In addition,the LR models with different numbers of minutiae outperformed those with different minutiae configurations.Our study shows that the use of LR models based on parametric methods is favoured in reducing the risk of fingerprint evidence misidentification,improving the quantitative assessment methods of fingerprint evidence,and promoting fingerprint identification from experience to science.展开更多

Cisplatin resistance of HO-8910 cells transfected with p LNCX2-NDRG2 L/S was evaluated by FCM. Tumors were generated in female nude mice by subcutaneous injection of HO-8910 cells.Results NDRG2 gene was isolated and its expression vector was successfully constructed. NDRG2 expression positively correlated with the proliferation of HO-8910 cells. NDRG2 L/S promoted tumorigenicity in HO-8910 cells.Conclusion The present study identified a novel function of NDRG2 L/S gene and demonstrated its involvement in the promotion of ovarian cancer cell proliferation and enhancement of cisplatin resistance in HO-8910 cells. Latent fingerprints(LFPs)at the crime scene are served as important clues to locate the trajectory of criminal behavior and portray the characteristics of the suspect.Therefore,visualizing LFPs is of considerable sign...Latent fingerprints(LFPs)at the crime scene are served as important clues to locate the trajectory of criminal behavior and portray the characteristics of the suspect.Therefore,visualizing LFPs is of considerable significance.In this work,the europium metal-organic framework(Eu-MOF)sensor was successfully constructed for sensitive detection of gallic acid(3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid,GA)and visualization of the sweat LFPs.The boric-acid-modified Eu-MOF was prepared by using the simple one-pot solvothermal method using Eu as the metal i ion center and 3,5-dicarboxybenzeneboronic acid(BBDC)as the organic ligand.The sensor showed desirable photoluminescent performance through the chelating of BBDC with Eu3+.The sensor exhibited the satisfactory linear relationship to GA in the range of 1 nM to 20 nM with a low detection limit of 0.34 nM under the optimized conditions.The prepared sensor with ideal selectivity to GA was successfully applied for visualizing LFPs on porous substrates with the high contrast and superior stability.Given the good performance of the sensor,all fingerprint images obtained from 1200 samples presented clear friction ridges and met the identification criteria.Notably,the sensor had less impact on the subsequent deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)detection,displaying a promising perspective for applications in extracting physical evidence of site investigation.展开更多

Objective:Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor imaging,using 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4 is recently established for detecting insulinomas.Owing to the highly radioactive kidneys in 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4 PET/CT,we aimed to de...Objective:Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor imaging,using 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4 is recently established for detecting insulinomas.Owing to the highly radioactive kidneys in 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4 PET/CT,we aimed to determine the effectiveness of Gelofusine in reducing renal uptake of 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4.Methods:In our randomized controlled study,patients presenting for 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4 PET/CT who were18 years and with normal renal function were enrolled,and then randomized into intervention group and control group.Patients in intervention group(group 1)underwent infusion of 500mL Gelofusine prior to PET/CT procedures:patients injected with 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4(group 1a)immediately after 500mL Gelofusine infusion was completed;(group 1b)at the time point that 250 to 300mL Gelofusine infusion was completed;(group 1c)30minutes after completion of 500mL Gelofusine infusion.The control group(group 2)received 500mL 5%glucose saline instead.PET/CT was then performed,and SUVs of the kidneys and insulinomas were measured.Results:A total of 28 patients were recruited.There were 7 patients(14 kidneys)in each subgroup.The age,body weight,BMI,renal function,injected 68Ga-exendin-4 activity,and interval between injection of the tracer and PET/CT scan were not significantly different among the groups(P>.05).The average and maximum SUVs in the kidneys were significantly reduced in patients of intervention group compared with the control subjects(P<.0001),and the renal uptake could be decreased by 57%with Gelofusine pretreatment.No significant difference in the renal radioactivity was found among group 1a,1b,and 1c(P=.071).The uptake of insulinomas was not significantly different between the intervention and control groups.Conclusion:Renal uptake of 68Ga-exendin-4 can be effectively reduced by pretreatment with Gelofusine.Abbreviations:GLP-1R=Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor;PRRT=peptide receptor radionuclide therapy;PET=positron emission tomography;SUV=standard uptake value.展开更多
The specificity of marks was evaluated by differences between marks left by the same firearm(within variability)and differences between marks left by different firearms(between variability).The within variability and ...The specificity of marks was evaluated by differences between marks left by the same firearm(within variability)and differences between marks left by different firearms(between variability).The within variability and between variability of firing pin impressions and breech face marks on cartridge cases from over 3070 consecutive firings of a Chinese Norinco QSZ‑929 mm pistol were investigated based on the automated ballistic identification system Evofinder®.The first 20 cartridge cases and one random specimen out of every set of 10 consecutive cartridge cases of the remaining 3050 cases were entered into the Evofinder®system.Thus,325 cartridges fired from the same pistol were used to estimate the within variability.Then,88 cartridges fired from 88 different pistols of the same model(one cartridge each)were used to estimate the between variability.This study established a database containing 413 cartridges.We used the 325 cartridges fired from the same pistol as a correlation baseline in the database.Both firing pin and breech scores and gaps between these scores were used to analyze the variability.In the score evaluation process,a likelihood ratio system was used to evaluate the likelihood ratio performance.The Evofinder®system correctly discriminated the matches,and the likelihood ratios provided strong support for the true state of the hypothesis.In addition,we found that the score gap was usually greater than the other score differences by more than 1000%in firing pin list and 100%in the breech list.Further analysis of the score and gap can help examiners use the Evofinder®system more efficiently.展开更多

This study, however, emphasizes using failure mode effect and criticality analysis(FMECA) as a basis for designing an ABC classification system that is capable of more accurately determining critical equipment and making maintenance more efficient. In the proposed methodology, risk priority numbers(RPN) and criticality as an index of safety and reliability can be obtained using a structured failure analysis technique. These indexes can be added to the economic indicator of maintenance cost, and then a classification model of spare parts can be established according to a comprehensive scoring method. The model is calibrated by using case data from a bus braking system, and the components of the braking system are compared and analyzed. The results show that the improved ABC classification method reduces the proportion of key and main components. This method can make maintenance work more efficient, targeting the most critical components, and can reduce administrative costs for enterprises.展开更多

It is extremely difficult to develop fingerprints from the surface of currency.There are studies reporting that the high vacuum metal deposition(VMD)method can be used to detect fingerprints on certain types of curren...It is extremely difficult to develop fingerprints from the surface of currency.There are studies reporting that the high vacuum metal deposition(VMD)method can be used to detect fingerprints on certain types of currency notes.Both VMD and 1,2-indandioneinhydrin techniques are employed to visualize latent fingermarks on porous surfaces,such as paper.The current study explores whether the VMD method or 1,2-indandioneinhydrin reagent method is more effective in the development of fingerprints on remninbi(RMB).Uncirculated,circulated,and water-exposed RMB was utilized in this study,along with five donors who ranged in their age and potential to leave fingermarks.Samples were aged for a determined period(for uncirculated and circulated RMB,times were 1,3,5,10,and 35 days;for watei^exposed RMB,exposure time was 1 day)and then treated with VMD and 1,2-indandioneinhydrin.The results suggested that the 1,2-indandioneinhydrin reagent yielded a better effect for both circulated and uncirculated RMB.For the RMB exposed to water,VMD performed better and gave limited results in terms of fingerprint development,which could serve as a reference for actual forensic cases.展开更多

摘要Latent fingerprints(LFPs)at the crime scene are served as important clues to locate the trajectory of criminal behavior and portray the characteristics of the suspect.Therefore,visualizing LFPs is of considerable significance.In this work,the europium metal-organic framework(Eu-MOF)sensor was successfully constructed for sensitive detection of gallic acid(3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid,GA)and visualization of the sweat LFPs.The boric-acid-modified Eu-MOF was prepared by using the simple one-pot solvothermal method using Eu as the metal i ion center and 3,5-dicarboxybenzeneboronic acid(BBDC)as the organic ligand.The sensor showed desirable photoluminescent performance through the chelating of BBDC with Eu3+.The sensor exhibited the satisfactory linear relationship to GA in the range of 1 nM to 20 nM with a low detection limit of 0.34 nM under the optimized conditions.The prepared sensor with ideal selectivity to GA was successfully applied for visualizing LFPs on porous substrates with the high contrast and superior stability.Given the good performance of the sensor,all fingerprint images obtained from 1200 samples presented clear friction ridges and met the identification criteria.Notably,the sensor had less impact on the subsequent deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)detection,displaying a promising perspective for applications in extracting physical evidence of site investigation.

摘要Limited by the sensitivity of laboratory techniques,conventional human DNA analysis of touch DNA on frequently used items and prints does not always provide satisfactory results.In this study,microbiome DNA on personal computers,cell phones,and palm prints was analyzed and compared.After sample collection,DNA extraction,polymerase chain reaction amplification,library preparation,and sequencing,data were analyzed using the QIIME 1.8.0 software.Weighted unifrac distance between the right palm skin and the right side of a keyboard,the right palm skin and the mouse,and the left side of the keyboard and the left palm skin was 0.258850,0.265474,and 0.214098,respectively.Even after palm prints were left for 1 week,microbial community structures were still quite similar to those of samples collected from the palm skin on the day they were left(weighted unifrac distance was 0.270885).

摘要Objective:Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor imaging,using 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4 is recently established for detecting insulinomas.Owing to the highly radioactive kidneys in 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4 PET/CT,we aimed to determine the effectiveness of Gelofusine in reducing renal uptake of 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4.Methods:In our randomized controlled study,patients presenting for 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4 PET/CT who were18 years and with normal renal function were enrolled,and then randomized into intervention group and control group.Patients in intervention group(group 1)underwent infusion of 500mL Gelofusine prior to PET/CT procedures:patients injected with 68Ga-NOTA-exendin-4(group 1a)immediately after 500mL Gelofusine infusion was completed;(group 1b)at the time point that 250 to 300mL Gelofusine infusion was completed;(group 1c)30minutes after completion of 500mL Gelofusine infusion.The control group(group 2)received 500mL 5%glucose saline instead.PET/CT was then performed,and SUVs of the kidneys and insulinomas were measured.Results:A total of 28 patients were recruited.There were 7 patients(14 kidneys)in each subgroup.The age,body weight,BMI,renal function,injected 68Ga-exendin-4 activity,and interval between injection of the tracer and PET/CT scan were not significantly different among the groups(P>.05).The average and maximum SUVs in the kidneys were significantly reduced in patients of intervention group compared with the control subjects(P<.0001),and the renal uptake could be decreased by 57%with Gelofusine pretreatment.No significant difference in the renal radioactivity was found among group 1a,1b,and 1c(P=.071).The uptake of insulinomas was not significantly different between the intervention and control groups.Conclusion:Renal uptake of 68Ga-exendin-4 can be effectively reduced by pretreatment with Gelofusine.Abbreviations:GLP-1R=Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor;PRRT=peptide receptor radionuclide therapy;PET=positron emission tomography;SUV=standard uptake value.

摘要The specificity of marks was evaluated by differences between marks left by the same firearm(within variability)and differences between marks left by different firearms(between variability).The within variability and between variability of firing pin impressions and breech face marks on cartridge cases from over 3070 consecutive firings of a Chinese Norinco QSZ‑929 mm pistol were investigated based on the automated ballistic identification system Evofinder®.The first 20 cartridge cases and one random specimen out of every set of 10 consecutive cartridge cases of the remaining 3050 cases were entered into the Evofinder®system.Thus,325 cartridges fired from the same pistol were used to estimate the within variability.Then,88 cartridges fired from 88 different pistols of the same model(one cartridge each)were used to estimate the between variability.This study established a database containing 413 cartridges.We used the 325 cartridges fired from the same pistol as a correlation baseline in the database.Both firing pin and breech scores and gaps between these scores were used to analyze the variability.In the score evaluation process,a likelihood ratio system was used to evaluate the likelihood ratio performance.The Evofinder®system correctly discriminated the matches,and the likelihood ratios provided strong support for the true state of the hypothesis.In addition,we found that the score gap was usually greater than the other score differences by more than 1000%in firing pin list and 100%in the breech list.Further analysis of the score and gap can help examiners use the Evofinder®system more efficiently.

摘要As one of the critical issues in operations management, spare parts planning classification systems based only on cost may not withstand the test of time because of continuing technological advancement or environmental degradation. This study, however, emphasizes using failure mode effect and criticality analysis(FMECA) as a basis for designing an ABC classification system that is capable of more accurately determining critical equipment and making maintenance more efficient. In the proposed methodology, risk priority numbers(RPN) and criticality as an index of safety and reliability can be obtained using a structured failure analysis technique. These indexes can be added to the economic indicator of maintenance cost, and then a classification model of spare parts can be established according to a comprehensive scoring method. The model is calibrated by using case data from a bus braking system, and the components of the braking system are compared and analyzed. The results show that the improved ABC classification method reduces the proportion of key and main components. This method can make maintenance work more efficient, targeting the most critical components, and can reduce administrative costs for enterprises.
摘要The interpretation of fingerprint evidence depends on the judgments of fingerprint examiners.This study assessed the accuracy of different judgments made by fingerprint examiners following the Analysis,Comparison,and Evaluation(ACE)process.Each examiner was given five marks for analysis,comparison,and evaluation.We compared the experts’judgments against the ground truth and used an annotation platform to evaluate how Chinese fingerprint examiners document their comparisons during the identification process.The results showed that different examiners demonstrated different accuracy of judgments and different mechanisms to reach them.

摘要It is extremely difficult to develop fingerprints from the surface of currency.There are studies reporting that the high vacuum metal deposition(VMD)method can be used to detect fingerprints on certain types of currency notes.Both VMD and 1,2-indandioneinhydrin techniques are employed to visualize latent fingermarks on porous surfaces,such as paper.The current study explores whether the VMD method or 1,2-indandioneinhydrin reagent method is more effective in the development of fingerprints on remninbi(RMB).Uncirculated,circulated,and water-exposed RMB was utilized in this study,along with five donors who ranged in their age and potential to leave fingermarks.Samples were aged for a determined period(for uncirculated and circulated RMB,times were 1,3,5,10,and 35 days;for watei^exposed RMB,exposure time was 1 day)and then treated with VMD and 1,2-indandioneinhydrin.The results suggested that the 1,2-indandioneinhydrin reagent yielded a better effect for both circulated and uncirculated RMB.For the RMB exposed to water,VMD performed better and gave limited results in terms of fingerprint development,which could serve as a reference for actual forensic cases.
