An optimization algorithm for pairwise nuclear fusion with arbitrarily weighted macroparticles is proposed and demonstrated using particle-in-cell(PIC)simulations.A faster computation of the Coulomb collision operator is achieved compared with that obtained through the classical nuclear fusion algorithm.Thus,the proposed algorithm can be implemented in the PIC simulation code with marginal effort.The algorithm is benchmarked in scenarios with like-particles,D(d,n)3He,unlikeparticles,D(t,n)4He,thermonuclear fusion,and beam-target fusion.Moreover,the CPU time could be reduced significantly without reducing the simulation accuracy. 展开更多

The fusion dynamics of 6Li and 7Li projectiles incident on the 13C and 12C targets,respectively,near the Coulomb barrier,were investigated theoretically using the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics(AMD)model.Within the AMD framework,the ground-state configurations of 6Li and 7Li exhibit pronounced deformation characterized by well-developed d+α and t+α clustering structures,respectively.Reaction simulations were performed across a center-of-mass energy range of 3−7.6MeV,encompassing the fusion barrier region.The total fusion cross sections computed as a function of collision energy demon-strate favorable quantitative agreement with the experimental values at energies above the Coulomb barrier.Additionally,a detailed comparison was made of the partial cross sections into specific residual fragments predicted by AMD at different center-of-mass energies.The AMD model provides a robust microscopic description of light-heavy-ion fusion dynamics and captures the role of extended density distributions and cluster correlations within interacting nuclei. 展开更多

A machine learning approach based on Bayesian neural networks was developed to predict the complete fusion cross-sections of weakly bound nuclei.This method was trained and validated using 475 experimental data points from 39 reaction systems induced by 6,7Li,9Be,and 10B.The constructed Bayesian neural network demonstrated a high degree of accuracy in evaluating complete fusion cross-sections.By comparing the predicted cross-sections with those obtained from a single-barrier penetration model,the suppression effect of 6,7Li and 9Be with a stable nucleus was systematically analyzed.In the cases of 6Li and 7Li,less suppression was predicted for relatively light-mass targets than for heavy-mass targets,and a notably distinct dependence relationship was identified,suggesting that the predominant breakup mechanisms might change in different mass target regions.In addition,minimum suppression factors were predicted to occur near target nuclei with neutron-closed shell. 展开更多

Within the framework of the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model,the fusion cross section and fusion mechanism of neutron-deficient Pu isotopes in the reactions24,26,30Si+196Hg were investigated.We found that the fusion cross sections are higher in the reaction with a more neutron-rich beam owing to the lower dynamical barrier.The dynamical barrier decreases with decreasing incident energy,which explains the fusion enhancement at the sub-barrier energy.The peak value of N/Z ratio in the neck region is the highest in reaction30Si+196Hg,indirectly leading to the lowest dynamical barrier.Compared with the proton density distribution,the neck region for neutrons is larger,indicating that neutrons transfer more quickly than protons,leading to a high N/Z ratio in the neck.The time distribution of the appearance of dynamical barriers is wider at lower incident energies,indicating that the fusion process took longer to exchange nucleons.The single-particle potential barrier decreases with time evolution and finally disappears at a lower impact parameter,which is favorable for fusion events. 展开更多

The fusion excitation functions for 12 colliding systems with 96≤Z1Z2≤608 are analyzed using coupled-channel(CC)calculations based on the M3Y double-folding(DF)potential supplemented with a repulsive potential that takes into account the incompressibility of the nuclear matter.We also applied the polarization effects of hot nuclear matter(PEHNM)on the calculations of the bare nucleus-nucleus interaction potential within the framework of the modified density-dependent Seyler-Blanchard(SB)approach in the T2approximation.Our results reveal that we obtain a nice description of the experimental data of different fusion systems when we use the present theoretical approach to calculate the energy-dependent values of the fusion cross sections.In this paper,the influence of the PEHNM on the surface diffuseness parameter of the Woods-Saxon(WS)potential is also studied.In order to reach this goal,we extract the corresponding values of this parameter based on the modified form of the DF potential(M3Y+Repulsion+polarization).We find that the extracted values are located in a range between a=0.61 and 0.80 fm at different incident energies.It seems that the polarization effects of hot nuclear matter play a key role in describing the abnormally large values of the nuclear potential diffusenesses in the heavy-ion fusion reactions.Additionally,the regular decreasing trend for the diffuseness parameter of the nucleus-nucleus potential with the increase in the bombarding energies is also observed. 展开更多

The12C+12C fusion reaction is famous because of its complication of molecular resonances,and it plays an important role in both nuclear structural research and astrophysics.It is extremely difficult to measure the cross sections of12C+12C fusions at energies of astrophysical relevance because of the very low reaction yields.To measure the complicated resonant structure that exists in this important reaction,an efficient thick target method has been developed and applied for the first time at energies Ec.m.<5.3 MeV.A scan of the cross sections over a relatively wide range of energies can be carried out using only a single beam energy.The result of measurement at Ec.m.=4.1 MeV is compared with results from previous work.This method will be useful for searching for potentially existing resonances of 12C+12C in the energy range 1 MeV<Ec.m.<3 MeV. 展开更多

Based on the dinuclear system model,the synthesis of the predicted double-magic nuclei298Fl and 304120 was investigated via neutron-rich radioactive beam-induced fusion reactions.The reaction58Ca+244Pu is predicted to be favorable for producing298Fl with a maximal ER cross section of 0.301 pb.Investigations of the entrance channel effect reveal that the244Pu target is more promising for synthesizing298Fl than the neutron-rich targets248Cm and249Bk,because of the influence of the Coulomb barrier.For the synthesis of 304120,the maximal ER cross section of 0.046 fb emerges in the reaction58V+249Bk,indicating the need for further advancements in both experimental facilities and reaction mechanisms. 展开更多

The neutron flow model predicts that neutrons start to flow freely between the approaching nuclei ^58Fe and ^208 pb at s=3fm, a length in which the effective surfaces of these nuclei are 3 fm apart. As a result of neutron flow, the N/Z value rapidly reaches an equilibrium distribution. Meanwhile the system, originally in the fusion valley, is injected into the asymmetric fission valley. The dynamic process of the composite nucleus in the asymmetric fission valley is treated with a two-parameter Smoluchowski equation. It is shown that the probability to overcome the asymmetric fission barrier and to achieve compound nucleus configuration, hence the fusion cross section is obviously suppressed due to the effect of isospin equilibrium. 展开更多

The restriction of the one dimensional (1D) master equation (ME) with the mass number of the projectile-like fragment as a variable is studied, and a two-dimensional (2D) master equation with the neutron and proton numbers as independent variables is set up, and solved numerically. Our study showed that the 2D ME can describe the fusion process well in all projectile target combinations. Therefore the possible channels to synthesize super-heavy nuclei can be studied correctly in wider possibilities. The available condition for employing 1D ME is pointed out. 展开更多

A simple and efficient screening model for studying the effects of superstrong magnetic fields (such as those of magnetars) on thermonuclear reaction rates on magnetar surfaces is proposed in this paper. The most interesting thermonuclear reactions, including hydrogen burning by the CNO cycle and helium burning by the triple alpha reaction, are investigated on the surface ofmagnetars. We find that the superstrong magnetic fields can increase the thermonuclear reaction rates by many orders of magnitude. The enhancement may have a dramatic effect on the thermonuclear runaways and bursts on the surfaces of magnetars. 展开更多
