Thermal fatigue failure is one of the main factors affecting the service life of hot-working dies.Thermal fatigue resistance also plays a fundamental role in work safety and cost saving in the rapidly developing automotive industry.The recent studies on the thermal fatigue phenomenon of hot work tool steels are reviewed.Those researches primarily focus on damage mechanism,performance improvement,and evaluation methods,encompassing both testing methods and life prediction.Compared to previous researches,notable progress has been made in the following areas:damage mechanisms have been extensively studied from macroscale to microscale.Furthermore,damage mechanisms in different fatigue regimes have also been investigated.In terms of improving the thermal fatigue resistance of hot work tool steels,additive manufacturing is increasingly being adopted as a novel forming method,particularly for designing conformal cooling channel systems in dies.Regarding the evaluation methods for thermal fatigue behavior,iterated numerical analysis and elaborated finite-element models are playing an essential role in predicting thermal fatigue life.This field is currently undergoing tremendous evolution.Finally,current challenges and future research directions are presented for incoming investigators.It is acknowledged that significant scope remains for advancing these areas to more effectively guide the practical manufacture and application of hot-working dies. 展开更多

The self-healing behavior of asphalt materials is increasingly recognized as a promising strategy to extend pavement life and reduce maintenance costs.However,research in this area remains fragmented,lacking a unified,critical synthesis of fundamental mechanisms and evaluation methods.This review paper,the first part of a two-part study,addresses this gap by consolidating current knowledge on self-healing in asphalt materials.The article first explores the theoretical principles that govern healing phenomena,including capillary flow and molecular diffusion,as well as viscoelastic phenomena(thixotropic recovery and steric hardening)that can inflate apparent healing if not controlled.It then examines how internal factors(e.g.,binder chemistry,oxidative aging,and air-void content)and external factors(e.g.,temperature,rest periods,and traffic loading)influence the healing potential.Special focus is given to multiscale evaluation methods,ranging from rheological recovery tests at the binder level to assessments of stiffness recovery,fatigue resistance,and fracture at higher scales.Emerging nondestructive methods,including computed tomography and acoustic emission,are also reviewed.By integrating dispersed findings into a coherent framework,this work contributes to the development of more reliable and standardized healing assessment methods,laying the scientific groundwork for Part 2,which will address advanced self-healing strategies,practical implementation,and environmental and economic evaluation. 展开更多

Essential oil is one of the main active ingredients in the medicinal herb Peucedanum praeruptorum.However,limited studies have been conducted on the quality evaluation of this essential oil.Here,we performed an optimization and evaluation of P.praeruptorum volatile oil extraction using response surface methodology.Partial least squares discriminant analysis(PLS-DA)was employed to screen relevant biomarkers.A sensory evaluation of the volatile oil components of P.praeruptorum was conducted across different time periods,and aroma differences were examined.The optimal extraction process involved an extraction time of 4 h,a soaking time of 2 h,a liquid-to-solid ratio of 12 mL/g and an extraction temperature of 132◦C.HS-SPME-GC/MS analysis of the volatile oil composition from different origins,periods and plant parts identified various chemical components,including terpenes,aldehydes,hydrocarbons and ketones.The main components identified were composed ofα-pinene,(-)-β-pinene,3-carene,β-myrcene,D-limonene,β-phellandrene,and other terpenes.The principal component analysis(PCA)revealed clear differences from different origins and time periods.The PLS-DA identified 39 key differential components in the aboveground parts and 20 in the underground parts with variable importance in projection(VIP)values>1.The sensory evaluation analysis described the aroma of P.praeruptorum volatile oil as grassy,woody,spicy,earthy and reminiscent of pine resin,with the most prominent note being spicy.This was highly correlated withβ-pinene,which accounted for the highest proportion.The prominent spicy note was found to be derived from three components:(–)-β-pinene,β-phellandrene,and o-cymene.Our study provides a scientific basis for the evaluation,development and application of volatile oil from P.praeruptorum. 展开更多

Can ChatGPT be a Good Follower of Academic Paradigms?Research Quality Evaluations in Conflicting Areas of Sociology 认领 引用

Purpose:It has become increasingly likely that Large Language Models(LLMs)will be used to score the quality of academic publications to support research assessment goals in the future.This may cause problems for fields with competing paradigms since there is a risk that one may be favoured,causing long term harm to the reputation of the other.Design/methodology/approach:To test whether paradigm favouritism is plausible,study 1 uses ChatGPT to evaluate up to 100 journal articles from each of eight pairs of competing sociology paradigms(1,490 altogether).Each article was assessed by prompting ChatGPT to take one of five roles:paradigm follower,opponent,antagonistic follower,antagonistic opponent,or neutral.Study 2 involved five pairs of more tightly defined paradigms.Findings:Articles were scored highest by ChatGPT when it followed the aligning paradigm,and lowest when it was told to devalue it and to follow the opposing paradigm.Broadly similar patterns occurred for most of the paradigm pairs.Follower ChatGPTs displayed only a small amount of favouritism compared to neutral ChatGPTs,but articles evaluated by an opposing paradigm ChatGPT had a substantial disadvantage in some cases.Research limitations:The data covers a single field and LLM.Practical implications:The results confirm that LLM instructions for research evaluation should be carefully designed to ensure that they are paradigm-neutral to avoid accidentally resolving conflicts between paradigms on a technicality by devaluing one side’s contributions.Originality/value:This is the first demonstration that LLMs can be prompted to show a partiality for academic paradigms. 展开更多

Based on new understandings of the whole petroleum system theory for coal measures,and utilizing data from coal-rock gas wells and other oil and gas wells in numerous pilot test areas for key parameter validation,this study conducted a national resource assessment of coal-rock gas widely developed in marine-continental transitional and continental strata in major petroliferous basins like Ordos,Sichuan and Junggar in China.The main achievements and understandings were obtained as follows.(1)A resource evaluation methodology for coal-rock gas was established,incorporating varying geological/data conditions.(2)Key parameter thresholds for deep coal-rock gas resource evaluation were defined,including the upper limits of critical depth(1500,2000,2500 m),lower limit of reservoir thickness(1 m),and lower limits of gas content in medium-low rank and medium-high rank coals(2,10 m3),depending on varying geological conditions across basins.(3)Methods for determining key parameters such as gas content,porosity,and technical recovery factor were developed using the basic data from coal-rock gas experimentsests and logging.(4)Evaluation results indicate that the geological resources of coal-rock gas in the 14 major basins of onshore China amount to 55.11×1012 m3.Resources at depths of 1500-3000,3000-5000,5000-6000 m account for 50.29%,43.11%,6.60%of the total,respectively.Resource classification shows that Class Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅲ resources constitute 21.80%,32.76%,45.44%,with the Class Ⅰ and Ⅱ technically recoverable resources of approximately 13.23×1012 m3.(5)The Ordos Basin remains the most favorable province,while the Sichuan,Junggar and Tarim basins are the promising targets,for future exploration and development of coal-rock gas in the country.Other basins including Bohai Bay,Qaidam,Tuha,Songliao and Hailar are considered as prospective options.Coal-rock gas production is expected to reach 500×108 m3 annually within the next 10-15 years,positioning it as a major contributor to the natural gas production growth of China and a crucial alternative resource for ensuring the national gas supply. 展开更多

The harmful algal bloom primarily caused by Microcystis aeruginosa(M.aeruginosa)has become one of the serious biological pollution issues in actual water,which has received intense attention worldwide.Over the past years,increasing number of publications have reported that metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)based functional materials exhibited significant inhibition against M.aeruginosa via multiple mechanisms,but no review papers systematically presented progresses regarding MOFs-based materials for M.aeruginosa control up to now.With this review paper,we summarized the state-of-the-art studies of MOFsbased materials for M.aeruginosa removal,comparing and discussing the design strategies of MOFs-based materials and their antimicrobial mechanisms.Meanwhile,we discussed methods for evaluating the water purification performances of MOFs-based materials against M.aeruginosa.Finally,the perspectives for design of novel MOFs-based functional materials and application scenarios were proposed to provide an outlook on areas where greater efforts should be made in the future. 展开更多

Tomato chlorosis virus(ToCV)is a worldwide epidemic virus that seriously harms tomato production.However,there is no effective ToCV-inoculated method and relevant disease evaluation criteria in tomato plants.The lack of these basic techniques have severely limited the tomato-ToCV interaction research and ToCV-resistant tomato breeding.Here,we presented a method for constructing the ToCV-infectious clones using binary vector pCass-Rz and Agrobacteriummediated transformation system.We further used ToCV-infectious clones to develope an improved stem-inoculated method,which can increase the ToCVinoculated efficiency from less than 40% to more than 90% compared with the traditional leaf-inoculated method.According to characteristics of the tomato ToCV disease,we developed a detailed symptom description and grading plan,including the change degree of leaf color and texture,plant height,and planting value.The symptom description and grading plan was used to calculate the disease index(DI)and further to develop the tomato ToCV disease resistance(DR)of different tomato cultivars.The publication of these new methods will strongly promote related research and breeding in the field of tomato and ToCV. 展开更多

The formation water sample in oil and gas fields may be polluted in processes of testing, trial production, collection, storage, transportation and analysis, making the properties of formation water not be reflected truly. This paper discusses identification methods and the data credibility evaluation method for formation water in oil and gas fields of petroliferous basins within China. The results of the study show that: (1) the identification methods of formation water include the basic methods of single factors such as physical characteristics, water composition characteristics, water type characteristics, and characteristic coefficients, as well as the comprehensive evaluation method of data credibility proposed on this basis, which mainly relies on the correlation analysis sodium chloride coefficient and desulfurization coefficient and combines geological background evaluation;(2) The basic identifying methods for formation water enable the preliminary identification of hydrochemical data and the preliminary screening of data on site, the proposed comprehensive method realizes the evaluation by classifying the CaCl2-type water into types A-I to A-VI and the NaHCO3-type water into types B-I to B-IV, so that researchers can make in-depth evaluation on the credibility of hydrochemical data and analysis of influencing factors;(3) When the basic methods are used to identify the formation water, the formation water containing anions such as CO32-, OH- and NO3-, or the formation water with the sodium chloride coefficient and desulphurization coefficient not matching the geological setting, are all invaded with surface water or polluted by working fluid;(4) When the comprehensive method is used, the data credibility of A-I, A-II, B-I and B-II formation water can be evaluated effectively and accurately only if the geological setting analysis in respect of the factors such as formation environment, sampling conditions, condensate water, acid fluid, leaching of ancient weathering crust, and ancient atmospheric fresh water, is combined, although such formation water is believed with high credibility. 展开更多

Addressing the complexity of quality evaluation during the R&D phase of the waterflooding sandstone reservoir numerical simulator(OSIM),this study establishes a comprehensive assessment framework driven by clientside requirements.The novelty of this work lies in the integration of a client-driven 146-indicator hierarchy specifically tailored for iterative simulator R&D.First,a hierarchical software quality evaluation model is constructed,encompassing four primary dimensions and 146 secondary indicators.To mitigate the subjectivity inherent in traditional weight assignment,the Fuzzy Best-Worst Method(FBWM)is employed to determine indicator weights.Subsequently,the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS)is integrated to develop a composite ranking algorithm,coupled with specific protocols for acquiring indicator values were established using an 80-case model library.Finally,the proposed framework is validated using nine iterative versions of OSIM and the Commercial Software(CS).Results indicate that the final OSIM version achieved a superior overall ranking with a composite score of 0.962,surpassing the Commercial Software’s score of 0.944,verifying the effectiveness of the method.The Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)for field water cut was controlled within 1.8%,demonstrating high simulation precision.This methodology exhibits strong universality,offering a scientific reference for the quality assessment of various reservoir simulators,including thermal and chemical flooding. 展开更多

Systematic disagreements exist mainly in the available partial photoneutron cross sectionsσ(γ,inX)(i=1,2),which were measured using quasimonoenergetic annihilation photons at the Saclay(France)and Livermore(USA)laboratories based on neutron multiplicity sorting methods.In this study,the reliability of theσ(γ,inX)for 142-146,148,150Nd isotopes obtained at Saclay was evaluated using an experimental–theoretical method that satisfies the data reliability criteria proposed based on the theoretical model in TALYS.Our evaluations were then compared with the major Evaluated Nuclear Data Libraries,and the differences from the available experimental data were analyzed.It was found that theσ(γ,1nX)data of Saclay were overestimated and theσ(γ,2nX)data were underestimated in the 144-146,148,150Nd cases,which is consistent with the conclusion of Varlamov;on the contrary,theσ(γ,1nX)were underestimated and theσ(γ,2nX)were overestimated in the 142,143Nd cases.Possible reasons for the above inconsistency in the Nd isotopes were further analyzed.Interestingly,subtracting the contribution of isotopic target impurities significantly reduced the discrepancy in the 143Nd case.However,this is no longer applicable to the 142Nd case,and other factors,including the detector efficiency and accidental coincidence events,should be fully considered to resolve such discrepancies. 展开更多

[Objectives]To analyze the gene expression networks across distinct tissues of Nardostachys jatamansi and elucidate the correlation between key gene expression levels in leaves and nardosinone accumulation in medicinal rhizomes,providing a technical foundation for rapid monitoring of bioactive compound accumulation.[Methods]Transcriptome sequencing coupled with Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis(WGCNA)was employed to construct gene co-expression networks,Ultra-performance Liquid Chromatography(UPLC)was utilized to quantify nardosinone content across various growth stages.Real-Time Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction(RT-qPCR)was integrated to validate spatiotemporal relationships between key gene expression profiles and nardosinone accumulation patterns.[Results]Among seven co-expression modules,the blue module demonstrated an exceptionally strong correlation with nardosinone content(r=0.993,p=1.2×10-15).This module encompassed pivotal genes such as NjDXS3 and NjTPS22.Three-year-old N.jatamansi plants reached peak nardosinone accumulation in September,with leaf expression levels of NjDXS3 closely mirroring this accumulation trend,whereas NjTPS22 expression exhibited minimal temporal variation.A critical threshold ratio exceeding 4.5 for NjDXS3/NjTPS22 expression in leaves signaled peak nardosinone concentrations.[Conclusions]By monitoring the expression ratio of NjDXS3 to NjTPS22 in leaves,the accumulation status of bioactive compounds in medicinal organs can be non-invasively assessed,offering a novel methodology for quality evaluation of N.jatamansi crude drugs. 展开更多

RNAs have important biological functions and the functions of RNAs are generally coupled to their structures, especiallytheir secondary structures. In this work, we have made a comprehensive evaluation of the performances of existingtop RNA secondary structure prediction methods, including five deep-learning (DL) based methods and five minimum freeenergy (MFE) based methods. First, we made a brief overview of these RNA secondary structure prediction methods.Afterwards, we built two rigorous test datasets consisting of RNAs with non-redundant sequences and comprehensivelyexamined the performances of the RNA secondary structure prediction methods through classifying the RNAs into differentlength ranges and different types. Our examination shows that the DL-based methods generally perform better thanthe MFE-based methods for RNAs with long lengths and complex structures, while the MFE-based methods can achievegood performance for small RNAs and some specialized MFE-based methods can achieve good prediction accuracy forpseudoknots. Finally, we provided some insights and perspectives in modeling RNA secondary structures. 展开更多

The focus of green analytical chemistry(GAC)is to minimize the negative impacts of analytical procedures on human safety,human health,and the environment.Several factors,such as the reagents used,sample collection,sample processing,instruments,energy consumed,and the quantities of hazardous materials and waste generated during analytical procedures,need to be considered in the evaluation of the greenness of analytical assays.In this study,we propose a greenness evaluation metric for analytical methods(GEMAM).The new greenness metric is simple,flexible,and comprehensive.The evaluation criteria are based on both the 12 principles of GAC(SIGNIFICANCE)and the 10 factors of sample preparation,and the results are presented on a 0–10 scale.The GEMAM calculation process is easy to perform,and its results are easy to interpret.The output of GEMAM is a pictogram that can provide both qualitative and quantitative information based on color and number. 展开更多

Brucellosis is a global public health issue that severely affects human health,Brucella melitensis is currently the predominant species in China.Brucella spondylitis is the primary cause of the debilitating and disabling complications[1].The lumbar vertebra was the most commonly affected site,followed by the thoracic,cervical,thoracolumbar,and lumbosacral segments,and back pain,fever,sweating,and fatigue were the most common symptoms[2].However,the diagnosis of Brucella spondylitis is challenging owing to its wide spectrum of clinical presentations,cross-reactions with other bacteria,and low strain isolation rate.Therefore,a timely and accurate diagnosis of spinal brucellosis is crucial for implementing an effective therapeutic plan and improving treatment outcomes.Droplet digital polymerase chain reaction(ddPCR)is widely used for low-abundance nucleic acid detection and is useful for diagnosing infectious diseases[3].Therefore,this study aimed to evaluate the ddPCR approach for the diagnosis of brucellosis with spondylitis to improve its clinical diagnostic capacity. 展开更多

Public-Private Partnership(PPP)models play a pivotal role in advancing infrastructure development at the local level,particularly in town and rural areas.Scientific,comprehensive,and objective performance evaluation of such projects is crucial for optimizing resource allocation and enhancing long-term sustainability.This study introduces the Environmental,Social,and Governance(ESG)framework to construct a multidimensional evaluation index system.The Entropy Method is employed to determine objective indicator weights,combined with the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS),to evaluate several typical local town and rural PPP construction projects in Guangdong.The evaluation results clearly demonstrate project performance rankings,identify key strengths and weaknesses,and provide theoretical and practical references for project performance management and ESG-oriented optimization of PPP models. 展开更多

With the accelerating urbanization process,the load demand of urban power grids is constantly increasing,giving rise to a batch of ultra-large urban power grids featuring large electricity demand,dense load distribution,and tight construction land constraints.This paper establishes a network planning method for urban power grids based on series reactors and MMC-MTEDC,focusing on four aspects:short-circuit current suppression,accommodation of external power supply,flexible inter-regional power support,and voltage stability enhancement in load centers.It proposes key indicators including node short-circuit current margin,line thermal stability margin,maximum fault-induced regional power loss,and voltage recovery time,thereby constructing an evaluation system for MMT-MTEDC network planning in urban power grids.Based on the Shenzhen power grid planning data,simulations using DSP software reveal that series reactors reduce short-circuit current by up to 5.0%,while the MMC-MTEDC system enhances node short-circuit margins by 4.212.9%and shortens voltage recovery time by 19.8%.Additionally,the MMC-MTEDC system maintains 3.34-6.76 percentage points higher thermal stability margins than conventional AC systems and enables complete avoidance of external power curtailment during N-2 faults via power reallocation between terminals.Compared with traditional AC or point-to-point HVDC schemes,the proposed hybrid planning method better adapts to the spatial and reliability demands of ultra-large receiving-end grids.This methodology provides practical insights into coordinated AC/DC development under high load density and strong external power reliance.Future work will extend the approach to include electromagnetic transient constraints and lightweight MMC station designs for urban applications. 展开更多

The stability of the tunnel portal slope is crucial for ensuring safe tunnel construction.Thus,a sound stability evaluation is of significance.Given the unique geological characteristics of tunnel portal slopes,it is necessary to establish a specific evaluation indicator system that differs from those used for ordinary slopes.Based on the unascertained measure method,uncertainties in the indicator are addressed by introducing the left and right half cloud asymmetric cloud model to optimize the linear membership function.The subjectivity of confidence criterion level identification is also improved by using the Euclidean distance method.Thus,a stability evaluation model for the tunnel portal slope is established based on the improved unascertained measure method.Finally,using the collected tunnel portal slope data,the results of four evaluation methods are compared with the safety factor levels.The evaluation methods include the traditional unascertained measure method,the method improved by using the left and right half cloud asymmetric cloud model,the method improved by using the Euclidean distance method,and the method improved by using both the left and right half cloud asymmetric cloud model and the Euclidean distance method.The results show that the accuracy rates of these four methods are 50%,55%,85%,and 90%,respectively.Among them,the joint improvement method has the slightest deviation,with only one level,while the other three methods had deviations of two levels.This result verifies the stability and effectiveness of the joint improvement method,providing a reference for tunnel portal slope stability evaluation. 展开更多

This study aimed to develop an evaluation index system for calcium channel blocker(CCB)drugs in medical institutions to support a scientific and evidence-based approach to their assessment and selection.In accordance with the Management Guidelines for Comprehensive Clinical Evaluation of Drugs(2021 Trial Edition)and utilizing the Delphi method,we established a comprehensive evaluation index system for CCB drugs.Two rounds of online expert consultations were conducted,resulting in a finalized system comprising six primary indicators,23 secondary indicators,and 52 tertiary indicators.The average familiarity scores of experts were 0.83 and 0.79 across the two rounds,with judgment basis coefficients of 0.92 and 0.93,authority coefficients of 0.88 and 0.86,and credibility scores of 0.96 and 0.98,respectively.The developed evaluation index system exhibited robust credibility and wide applicability.It provided a structured framework to guide the selection and rational use of CCB drugs in medical institutions,thereby enhancing pharmacy service quality and facilitating optimized drug cost management. 展开更多

With the rapid development of the aviation industry,air travel has become one of the most important modes.Improving the service quality of civil aviation airports is crucial to their competitiveness.This study intends to develop a scientific and rational evaluation methodology and framework for assessing service quality in civil aviation airports,thereby providing a theoretical foundation and practical guidance for enhancing service standards in the aviation industry.First,the study constructs a CRITIC-bidirectional grey possibility clustering model,which uses the CRITIC method to determine the weights of indicators and integrates the forward grey possibility clustering model and the inverse grey possibility clustering model to determine possibility functions from two perspectives.Second,a service quality evaluation index system for civil airports is constructed from four dimensions,and the weights of each index within the system are subsequently calculated.Finally,the constructed model is applied to evaluate the service quality of nine domestic civil airports.Based on the clustering results,targeted countermeasures and suggestions are proposed.Empirical results demonstrate that,compared to the traditional grey possibility clustering model,the proposed model balances the objectivity of indicator weighting,the objectivity of possibility function construction,and the simplicity of the computational process,thereby possessing significant theoretical and practical implications. 展开更多
