This study presents a mobile expert system for on-device detection and short-horizon forecasting of aggression using affordable edge hardware. The proposed framework combines lightweight on-body and ambient signals, compact sequential predictors, and an interpretable fuzzy decision layer that converts calibrated probabilities into actionable and auditable alerts. In a subject-held-out pilot study with 10 independent participants, the system achieved a macro-averaged F1 score of 98.3%and an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.998 on the held-out test split. These results should be interpreted as pilot-scale held-out estimates rather than as definitive evidence of broad superiority across settings, because only 10 independent participants were available for subject-level evaluation and residual optimism or overfitting at the between-subject level cannot yet be excluded.Since the dataset belongs to a completed feasibility-oriented pilot phase,no additional participant-level test cases could be incorporated within the scope of the present study. An exploratory external check on a small independent cohort of 15 cases yielded performance of similar magnitude;however, these findings are presented strictly as preliminary and should not be interpreted as robust evidence of generalization across settings or populations. The compact Long Short-TermMemory forecasters also often reached their best validation region after relatively few effective epochs;in this pilot, that behavior is interpreted as a fixed-cohort optimization characteristic rather than as evidence that the available training data are already sufficient for deployment-oriented generalization.Ablation analyses indicate that short-horizon sequential predictors and weapon-related cues contribute most strongly to predictive accuracy, whereas camera-derived person andweapon cues should be understood as local field-of-viewevidence rather than complete scene observability.Beyond pointwise latency, the prototype also demonstrated pilot-stage sustained-load feasibility on Raspberry Pi 3B+hardware during a continuous 6 h profile, with mean central processing unit utilization of 68.4%(±4.2%),mean throughput of 0.798 records/s,and a battery-basedmean power proxy of 5.18W.The design prioritizes calibrated probability estimates, robustness to missing data, and transparent alert generation for non-specialist operators.Aggressiveness labels were defined through an a priori,expert-informed operational codebook intended to stratify short-horizon security risk into Low,Medium, and High levels rather than to provide a clinical diagnosis.Data collection was conducted under written informed consent, ethics approval, and de-identified data-handling procedures.Limitations include the pilot scale,single-site acquisition, and controlled distribution shifts;broader assessment of generalization and fairness will require larger,multi-session,and multi-site cohorts. 展开更多

After World War I,scientifically and technologically advanced countries such as Britain, the United States, and Japan initiated nutritional research from the perspectives of biochemistry, medicine, agronomy, and home economics, garnering the attention of Chinese academia.Following the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, faced with exigencies such as non-combat attrition of both frontline soldiers and civilians on the home front caused by malnutrition,Chinese scientists from various fields related to nutrition science converged to establish China’s wartime nutritional support system. They carried out extensive applied and theoretical research, yielding remarkable results.During this process,Eastern and Western nutritional circles maintained close communication.Nutrition science in wartime China initially received support from Western academia, further absorbing Western theoretical knowledge.Chinese scientists during the War Against Japanese Aggression applied Western nutritional theories to China’s special wartime environment, and the unique practical experiences and research outcomes formed in wartime China contributed to the development of nutrition science worldwide. This demonstrates that the War Against Japanese Aggression catalyzed the development of modern nutrition science in China. The anti-fascist scientific community forged by Chinese and foreign scientists contributed to both the World Anti-Fascist War and the advancement of human science. 展开更多

Chronic social defeat stress induces diverse effects in mice of different strains and even in animals of the same strain. This paper aims to study the effect of repeated social defeats and, for contrast, repeated aggression in daily agonistic interactions on the behaviors of CD-1 male mice. The behavior of animals that have the same winning and losing track record during 3, 10, 21 days is studied in different tests. The level of aggressiveness, as estimated by the number and total time of attacks, decreases;nevertheless, direct and indirect forms of aggression demonstrated by the aggressive mice (winners) remain significantly high. The number of stereotypic behaviors (rotations and jumps) and total time of digging behaviors are significantly increased in the winners after 21 days compared to 3 and 10 days of intermale confrontations. Among the losers, chronic experience of social defeats is accompanied by the development of pronounced anxiety and a depression-like state estimated by the elevated plus-maze and the Porsolt test scores, respectively. Both groups of male mice with alternative social behaviors demonstrate abnormal locomotor and exploratory behaviors in the open-field test. This phenomenon may be viewed as hyperactivity developed under chronic agonistic interactions and specific for the outbred CD-1 mice. We believe that these animals may be potentially used for modeling the key symptoms of bipolar disorder. 展开更多

This letter critically reviews a recent longitudinal network study by Bai et al examining the dynamic,symptom-level interplay among peer bullying victimization, depression, anxiety, and aggression in Chinese adolescents. The study highlights that key symptoms, such as persistent sad mood, sleep disturbances, and cyberbullying victimization play a pivotal role in reinforcing the vicious cycle between mental health issues and bullying experiences. While the application of cross-lagged panel network analysis offers a nuanced understanding of these bidirectional relationships, several limitations remain, including the use of selfreported measures and a region-specific sample.Nevertheless, the findings underscore the urgent need for early screening and targeted interventions in school settings, particularly those addressing both emotional symptoms and digital forms of bullying.Moving forward, integrated and culturally sensitive approaches are essential to prevent escalation and break the link between peer victimization and adolescent psychopathology.Future research should incorporate multi-informant data and broaden the cultural context to strengthen generalizability and intervention design. 展开更多

BACKGROUND The neural mechanisms underlying aggressive behavior in schizophrenia(SCZ)remain poorly understood. To date,no studies have reported on the event-related potential(ERP)characteristics of aggression in SCZ using the competitive reaction time task(CRTT).Further investigation into the ERP correlates of aggression in SCZ would provide valuable insights into the neural processes involved.AIM To explore the neural mechanism of aggressive behavior in SCZ.METHODS Participants of this study included 40 SCZ patients and 42 healthy controls(HCs).The Reactive Proactive Aggression Questionnaire was used to assess trait of aggression. The Barratt Impulsiveness Scale 11 was used to measure impulsiveness. The Positive and Negative Symptom Scale(PANSS)was used to evaluate psychopathological features and disease severity. All participants were measured with ERP while performing the CRTT.Data of behavior,ERP components(P2,N2,and P3),and feedback-related negativity(FRN)were analyzed.RESULTS Analysis of the behavioral data revealed that compared with HCs,SCZ patients exhibited higher punishment choices.Analysis of ERP components showed that compared with HCs,SCZ patients exhibited higher N2 amplitudes and P2 amplitudes during the decision phase of the CRTT;however,SCZ patients exhibited lower FRN amplitudes and lower P3 amplitudes during the outcome phase of the CRTT.The N2 amplitudes evoked by highintensity provocation were positively related to PANSS-P scores. And the P3 amplitudes evoked in the winning trials were negatively correlated with the PANSS-G scores.CONCLUSION SCZ patients exhibit abnormal ERP characteristics evoked by the CRTT,which suggests the neural correlates of aggressive behavior in SCZ. 展开更多

Isolation rearing(IR) enhances aggressive behavior, and the central serotonin(5-hydroxytryptamine,5-HT) system has been linked to IR-induced aggression. However, whether the alteration of central serotonin is the cause or consequence of enhanced aggression is still unknown. In the present study, using mice deficient in central serotonin Tph2-/-and Lmx1 b-/-, we examined the association between central serotonin and aggression with or without social isolation. We demonstrated that central serotonergic neurons are critical for the enhanced aggression after IR. 5-HT depletion in wild-type mice increased aggression. On the other hand, application of 5-HT in Lmx1 b-/-mice inhibited the enhancement of aggression under social isolation conditions. Dopamine was downregulated in Lmx1 b-/-mice. Similar to 5-HT, L-DOPA decreased aggression in Lmx1 b-/-mice. Our results linkthe serotoninergic system directly to aggression and this may have clinical implications for aggression-related human conditions. 展开更多

The objective of this cross-sectional study was to investigate if Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is related to decision-making deficits as well as to heightened levels of (reactive) aggression and criminal behavior in a group of Dutch male prisoners. Characteristics of aggression were assessed using three self-report questionnaires as well as systematic staff observations, complemented with data from criminal records. A semi-structured interview was conducted to rate lifetime prevalence of TBI and the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) was completed to assess risky decision-making. Out of the total of 133 participants, 74 (55.6%) reported having sustained one or more incidents with potential TBI. Statistical comparisons between offenders with and without TBI indicated that the offenders with TBI reported significantly higher levels of (reactive) aggression on two out of three questionnaires than offenders without TBI (p-values ranging from 0.003 to 0.008), but no significant differences were found on staff observations of aggression and on the IGT. The higher conviction rates in offenders with TBI compared to the non-TBI group showed a trend. The confirmed relationship between TBI and higher aggressive tendencies is especially relevant for forensic populations due to the high prevalence rates of TBI in offenders. How this relates to specific cognitive processes remains unclear. The lack of a statistical difference between offenders with and without TBI on the IGT is in contrast with literature in non-offender samples, but seems to be in line with other studies in forensic populations. 展开更多

Aggression is a common behavioral trait shared in many animals, including both vertebrates and invertebrates. However, the type and intensity of agonistic encounters and displays can vary widely both across and within species, resulting in complicated or subjective interpretations that create difficulties in developing theoretical models that can be widely applied. The need to easily and objectively identify quantifiable behaviors and their associated morphologies becomes especially important when attempting to decipher the neurological mechanisms underlying this complex behavior. Monoamines, neuropeptides, and pheromones have been implicated as important neuromodulators for agonistic displays in both invertebrates and vertebrates. Ad- ditionally, recent breakthroughs in insect research have revealed exciting proximate mechanisms important in aggression that may be broadly relevant, due to the relatively high conservation of these neurochemical systems across animal taxa. In this review, we present the latest research demonstrating the importance of monoamines, neuropeptides, and pheromones as neuromodulators for aggression across a variety of insect species. Additionally, we describe the stalk-eyed fly as a model system for studying aggres- sion, which integrates physiological, morphological, and neurochemical approaches in exploring detailed mechanisms responsible for this common yet complex behavior. We conclude with our perspective on the most promising lines of future research aimed at understanding the proximate and ultimate mechanisms underlying aggressive behaviors . 展开更多

Goal of this research is to suggest a typology of verbal aggressiveness, argumentativeness and motivational climate influence, pointing out examples of complementary types (namely containing no identical components) and nested types (containing identical components). Complete network analysis was conducted in a student class at the Dept. of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, University of Thessaly (N = 66). Standardized questionnaires were used. Network analysis and Principal Component Analysis were implemented using Visone software and SPSS, respectively. Main results were: in the typology of targeting, parameters of motivation climate, verbal aggressiveness and argumentativeness were combined in several types (“affable ambitious”, “isolated victim”, “isolated ambitious”, “lightly victimized” and “severely victimized”) which were partially complementary and partially nested into each other. These depict student profiles vary from quite socialized and invulnerable to only isolated and victimized. They also reveal the significance of seeking knowledge acquirement vs. performance. The typology of general involvement (in- and out-degree) contains types tending to be rather nested into each other than complementary which varies from quite integrative to purely deconstructive appearance. This typology depicts the connection of motivation climate (and the subsequently induced familiarity) with verbal aggressiveness without diminishing susceptibility to argumentation. The fact that the typology of targeting is composed of several complementary types while in the typology of general involvement mainly of nested ones, can be attributed to the structural clarity of the former ones (a typology focusing 展开更多

Females increase aggression for mating opportunities and for acquiring reproductive resources.Although the close relationship between female aggression and mating status is widely appreciated, whether and how female aggression is regulated by mating-related cues remains poorly understood. Here we report an interesting observation that Drosophila virgin females initiate high-frequency attacks toward mated females. We identify 11-cis-vaccenyl acetate(cVA),a male-derived pheromone transferred to females during mating, which promotes virgin female aggression. We subsequently reveal a cVA-responsive neural circuit consisting of four orders of neurons, including Or67d,DA1,aSP-g,and pC1 neurons, that mediate cVA-induced virgin female aggression. We also determine that aSP-g neurons release acetylcholine(ACh)to excite pC1 neurons via the nicotinic ACh receptor nAChRα7.Together,beyond revealing cVA as a mating-related inducer of virgin female aggression, our results identify a neural circuit linking the chemosensory perception of mating-related cues to aggressive behavior in Drosophila females. 展开更多

Left-behind experience refers to the experience of children staying behind in their hometown under the care of only one parent or their relatives while one or both of their parents leave to work in other places.College students with left-behind experience showed higher aggression levels. To further explore the relationship between left-behind experience and aggression, the current study categorized left-behind experience using latent class analysis and explored its relationship with aggression. One thousand twenty-eight Chinese college students with left-behind experience were recruited, and their aggression levels were assessed. The results showed that there were four categories of left-behind experience:“starting from preschool, frequent contact”(35.5%),“less than 10 years in duration, limited contact”(27.0%),“starting from preschool, over 10 years in duration, limited contact”(10.9%),and“starting from school age, frequent contact”(26.6%).Overall,college students who reported frequent contact with their parents during the left-behind period showed lower levels of aggression than others did.Females were less aggressive than males in the“starting from preschool, frequent contact”left-behind situation, while males were less aggressive than females in the“starting from school age, frequent contact”situation.Thesefindings indicate that frequent contact with leaving parents contributes to decreasing aggression of college students with left-behind experience.Meanwhile, gender is an important factor in this relationship. 展开更多

With this study, it is aimed at examining the effect of the gender and developmental phases on the aggression tendencies of the Turkish students. In this context, the meta-analysis of the studies existing in the literature and covering the Turkish students has been conducted. The examined researches to be included in the analysis have been identified in accordance with certain criteria. As criteria, the following conditions have been sought: inclusion of the studies published between 2004 and 2015, inclusion of child, adolescent, and young adult students in the sample, giving the validity and reliability studies of the measuring tools, the studies being obtained from sources of the published theses and articles; and in the data, the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and sample size being given. In the research, gender has been found effective on the general aggression scores, at significant level (EDavg = .280, p 〈 .01), and against males at medium level. The general aggression scores from the moderator variables have been found to have a medium level of effect (EDavg = .402, p 〈 .01) on the childhood period, and to have the greatest effect against males. 展开更多

Background: Increased ambient temperature has been implicated in increased physical aggression, which has important practical consequences. The present study investigates this established relationship between aggressive behavior and ambient temperature in the highly aggressive context of professional football in the National Football League (NFL). Methods: Using a publicly available dataset, authors conducted multiple hierarchical regression analyses on game-level data (2326 games). Results: The analysis revealed that temperature positively predicted aggressive penalties in football, and that this relationship was significant for teams playing at home but not for visiting teams. Conclusion: These results indicate that even in the aggressive context of football, warmer weather contributes to increased violence. Further, the presence of the heat-aggression relationship for the home team suggests that the characteristics of interacting groups may influence whether heat would have an adverse effect on the outcome of those interactions. 展开更多
