Better telling China’s human rights stories and clarifying the logic of human rights in China are important tasks to build discourse power and influence in the human rights field commensurate with China’s comprehens...Better telling China’s human rights stories and clarifying the logic of human rights in China are important tasks to build discourse power and influence in the human rights field commensurate with China’s comprehensive national strength and international status.In 2025,China’s human rights research transformed the practical achievements of“handling China’s affairs well”into the discourse power and communication effects of“better tell China’s stories”by clarifying the narrative stance of China’s human rights stories,exploring materials for China’s human rights stories,and analyzing the mainstream agendas and core interests of the audiences of China’s human rights stories.It integrated the logic of human rights in China into vivid and specific human rights stories in China by distinguishing the philosophical foundation and cutting-edge progress of the Chinese outlook on human rights,extracting the deep mutually constitutive relationship between China’s path of human rights development and Chinese path to modernization,and explaining the sectoral and fieldbased legal pathways for the legal protection of human rights in China.Looking ahead,China’s human rights research should continue to uphold fundamental principles and break new ground,so that profound and warm human rights stories in China and the logic of human rights in China featuring Chinese wisdom and values can jointly serve the goal of building an independent knowledge system of human rights in China.展开更多
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of 132 tornadic events in northeastern China from 2004 to 2023,utilizing radar and ERA5 reanalysis data to investigate the climatology,environmental drivers,and synoptic li...This study presents a comprehensive analysis of 132 tornadic events in northeastern China from 2004 to 2023,utilizing radar and ERA5 reanalysis data to investigate the climatology,environmental drivers,and synoptic linkages with Northeast China cold vortices(NCCVs)of tornadic storms under different convective modes.Results reveal that discrete storms account for 70%of events,with clustered cells(CC)being the most frequent mode,while significant tornadoes(EF2+)are primarily associated with isolated cells(IC)and broken lines(BL).The storm mode distribution in northeastern China resembles that of the central United States but with a higher proportion of CC and lower IC.In contrast,southern China exhibits a higher frequency of quasi-linear(QL)modes(>50%),similar to European patterns.Although no single parameter clearly differentiates between all tornado modes,distinct morphological characteristics emerge through specific parameter combinations:NL modes are characterized by high 0-1 km storm-relative helicity(SRH1)and humidity but low 0-6 km shear(SR6),whereas IC modes display contrasting features with low SRH1 and high CAPE.Notably,83%of tornadoes are associated with NCCVs,preferentially forming in southeastern/southwestern quadrants.Strong tornadoes favor southeastern quadrants,while NCCV intensity correlates with tornadic distance from vortex centers.Three characteristic synoptic configurations emerge:(T1)strong deep vortices with vertically aligned cold troughs,generating southeast-dominant tornado clusters characterized by a high proportion of BL and QL modes;(T2)weaker vortices featuring sub-synoptic troughs,with southern-distributed events dominated by a predominance of the CC mode;(T3)transverse-trough systems exhibiting CAPE-SRH decoupling and reduced tornadic activity.This study enhances our understanding of tornadoes in northeastern China,informing future research on formation mechanisms,prediction methods,and disaster prevention strategies.展开更多

Background:Heart failure(HF)continues to be a public health issue in China with population aging and increasing disease drivers.The burden,spatial patterns,temporal trends,and underlying causes of HF in China at subna...Background:Heart failure(HF)continues to be a public health issue in China with population aging and increasing disease drivers.The burden,spatial patterns,temporal trends,and underlying causes of HF in China at subnational levels remain inadequately understood.This study aims to assess the disease burden and causes of HF,and their regional disparities in China from 1990 to 2023.Methods:Utilizing the estimates from the Global Burden of Diseases,Injuries,and Risk Factors Study(GBD)2023,we assessed the prevalence and years lived with disability(YLDs)of HF and their trends in China at both national and subnational levels.Estimates were also compared by disease severity,sex,age group,cause,and region.Results:In 2023,China had an estimated 14.3 million HF cases,marking a significant 208.4% increase over the past three decades.Ischemic heart disease(IHD)has become the top cause of HF,compared with 1990,with hypertensive heart disease(HHD)at the top.Alongside chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),these three leading causes accounted for 77.4%of all HF cases.The burden of HF due to IHD and COPD exhibited distinct regional patterns and substantial disparities:regions in northern China exhibited notably higher age-standardized YLDs rates for HF due to IHD,while provinces in the western regions faced the highest burden from COPD.Six provinces with the highest tertile of YLDs rates in 2023 also experienced the most pronounced increases between 1990 and 2023.Conclusions:HF remains a significant public health challenge in China,with a marked increase in prevalence over the past three decades.The substantial regional variations highlight the need for targeted and region-specific public health strategies.Enhanced nationwide efforts should be made to reduce the geographical disparities in the burden of HF.展开更多

Alleviating the imbalance between urban and rural areas for regional coordinated development is an imperative response to the Sustainable Development Goal 10 of the United Nations.To track China’s urban-rural integra...Alleviating the imbalance between urban and rural areas for regional coordinated development is an imperative response to the Sustainable Development Goal 10 of the United Nations.To track China’s urban-rural integration progress and address the uneven issues in specific fields,this study constructed a novel seven-dimension index system of urban-rural integration,comprising free population mobility,efficient land transfer,interactive economic growth,highly-linked transportation,equal public services,joint environmental governance and unimpeded informatization between urban and rural areas.Based on a comprehensive measurement framework and multi-source panel data,we uncovered the spatial-temporal evolution of urban-rural integration in China’s 367 prefecture-level administrative units from 1980 to 2022.The results demonstrated that China’s urban-rural integration steadily increased from 27.51 to 57.35 with an average annual growth rate of 3.40%.Whereas,the overall urban-rural integration was relatively inferior in 2022,at the level of moderate integration whose proportion of China’s land area was 88.08%.The urban-rural integration level in eastern region and urban agglomerations was higher than that in mid-west and non-urban agglomerations.From the perspective of seven dimensions,interactive economic growth,joint environmental governance and unimpeded informatization made an obvious improvement and reached higher integration,while free population mobility,efficient land transfer,highly-linked transportation and equal public services maintained the stage of moderate integration in 2022.In the future,China should make targeted efforts for urban-rural integration in terms of population,land use,transportation and public services,and accelerate urban-rural common prosperity in the mid-west and economically underdeveloped areas.展开更多

Climate disasters lead to substantial economic losses and grain yield losses,emphasizing the need for adaptation to ensure food security.As digital technologies advance,it is imperative to investigate how digital lite...Climate disasters lead to substantial economic losses and grain yield losses,emphasizing the need for adaptation to ensure food security.As digital technologies advance,it is imperative to investigate how digital literacy among grain farmers affects their adaptive production behaviors in the face of climate disasters.Drawing on survey data from 505 grain-producing smallholders in Sichuan Province,China,this study constructs a theoretical framework linking digital literacy,climate disaster risk perception,and adaptive production behaviors.Empirical analysis shows that digital literacy positively impacts the adaptive production behaviors of grain-producing smallholders.Our results are robust across various models and tests.An analysis of the mediation mechanism reveals that digital literacy contributes to climate disaster-adaptive production behaviors by improving the awareness of climate disaster risks.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the positive impact of digital literacy is more pronounced for smallholders that receive internet skills training and climate information services,and this impact intensifies as the level of agricultural infrastructure improves.The findings suggest that digital literacy plays a key role in reducing production risks,thereby contributing to increased sustainable agricultural development among smallholders.展开更多
Fine particulate matter(PM2.5)and ozone(O3)have emerged as major air pollutants in China,posing risks to human health.In this paper,Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei,a key region for air pollution prevention and control in ...Fine particulate matter(PM2.5)and ozone(O3)have emerged as major air pollutants in China,posing risks to human health.In this paper,Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei,a key region for air pollution prevention and control in China,was selected as the study area to analyze the characteristics of PM2.5and O3 concentration changes and their health effects from 2014 to 2023,and to estimate the potential health benefits of realizing different emission reduction standards in 2030.The results have shown that:1)The annual average PM2.5concentration in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei showed a decreasing trend from 2014 to 2023,while the daily maximum 8-h sliding average of O3(O3-8h concentration)showed a fluctuating increasing trend.2)The number of premature deaths and economic losses attributed to PM2.5pollution showed a decreasing trend,while the changes in the number of premature deaths and economic losses attributed to O3 pollution showed an opposite trend,in which the health risks and economic losses in Beijing and Tianjin were relatively prominent.3)If the annual average concentrations of PM2.5and O3 in 2030 reach the limits of the secondary standards of Ambient Air Quality Standards(GB 3095–2012),the number of premature deaths attributed to PM2.5and O3 in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei will decrease by 23.08%and20.45%,respectively,compared with that in 2023,and with the increase of per capita disposable income year by year,the health and economic losses will be reduced by 41.23×108 yuan(RMB)(95%CI:33.71×108–48.72×108 yuan)and 98.89×108 yuan(95%CI:54.14×108–142.67×108yuan),respectively;the increase in the number of premature deaths can be further avoided and significant economic benefits can be realized if the concentrations of PM2.5and O3 are further reduced to higher standards.The study shows that the PM2.5control in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei has been effective,but the O3 pollution problem is emphasized,and the number of health deaths and economic losses caused by it are on the rise,and higher target air quality standards should be set in order to effectively improve the health of residents and bring significant economic benefits.展开更多
Ensuring national food security amidst rapid population growth and increasing extreme weather events remains a critical global challenge.However,the extent to which agricultural modernization in China enhances grain y...Ensuring national food security amidst rapid population growth and increasing extreme weather events remains a critical global challenge.However,the extent to which agricultural modernization in China enhances grain yield and contributes to food security remains unclear.Therefore,using panel data from 327 Chinese cities(2013–2021),this study employs spatial econometric models to analyze the spatial spillover effects of agricultural modernization level(AML)on grain yield and to reveal regional heterogeneity across nine major agricultural zones.The results showed a cumulative grain yield increase of 23.7 million tons,with peak productivity concentrated along the Hu Line and declining eastward and westward.AML also exhibited a steady increase but a clear spatial gradient,decreasing from coastal to inland regions,with the highest level observed in Southern China(SC).A key finding was that a 1%increase in AML directly raised local grain yield by an average of 4.185%,accompanied by significant positive spillover effects on neighboring regions.Regional variations revealed distinct patterns:the direct effects of AML were more pronounced in southern and eastern zones,while spillover effects dominated in northern and western zones.The largest positive direct impact of AML on grain yield was observed in the SC(8.499%),while Middle-Lower Yangtze Plain ranked second but exhibited the strongest positive spatial spillover effect(4.534%).These findings highlight the critical role of agricultural modernization in promoting grain production and provide a solid basis for optimizing regional agricultural systems,ensuring food security,and advancing sustainable agriculture.展开更多

Traditional villages represent a concentrated expression of the preservation and transmission of traditional culture within the context of rural revitalization,conveying important social,historical,and cultural values...Traditional villages represent a concentrated expression of the preservation and transmission of traditional culture within the context of rural revitalization,conveying important social,historical,and cultural values.Based on the perspective of spatial genes,this study selected 67 typical traditional villages in the Wuling Mountain Area in Southwest China as the case study.Between 2021 and 2024,by identifying and extracting spatial genes through the semi-structured interviews,Laddering Technique,and Landscape Pattern Index,and applying the geo-detector,the study explored the morphological characteristics and influencing mechanisms of traditional Tujia villages from the perspective of spatial genes of ecological-production-living.The findings are as follows:1)the spatial genes of traditional Tujia villages in the Wuling Mountain Area exhibit distinct patterns.Ecological genes,categorized by natural environment and layout,demonstrate a transition from clustered to dispersed patterns from the southern to northern regions.Production genes,categorized by location and cultivation patterns,show concentrated agricultural lands in the south and fragmented in the north.Living genes,divided into house plans,facades,and public buildings,reveal a higher prevalence of courtyards,stilted houses,and public buildings in northern areas.2)The spatial genes have evolved through the combined influence of four key factors:natural environment,socioeconomic development,policy systems,and ethnic culture.3)The integration of multi-source data and the application of both qualitative and quantitative approaches provide a comprehensive framework for analyzing traditional village form and their influencing mechanisms.This methodology offers valuable insights for developing sustainable strategies for the conservation of traditional Tujia traditional villages in this region.展开更多
Bottom-up and top-down endogenous automobile clusters exhibit distinct evolutionary traits and driving mechanisms,yet their comparative analysis remains understudied.Therefore,using Taizhou automobile industry cluster...Bottom-up and top-down endogenous automobile clusters exhibit distinct evolutionary traits and driving mechanisms,yet their comparative analysis remains understudied.Therefore,using Taizhou automobile industry cluster(TAIC)and Wuhu automobile industry cluster(WAIC)as cases,using historical statistical data and field interview data from the 1980s to 2023,combined with qualitative research methods of thematic and diachronic analysis,and quantitative research methods of social network analysis,we compare both endogenous automobile clusters’evolutionary traits and driving mechanisms.The results confirm both clusters undergo multi-scale spatial reconfiguration,organizational complexification,and intelligent networking technological transformation,yet diverge fundamentally:TAIC evolves through market-driven progressive expansion,transitioning from single to dual-core structures via private enterprise networking,with innovation following market-integrated logic and institutional thickness built on demand-driven evolution.Conversely,WAIC follows planned expansion,maintaining state-led hierarchical single-core stability through policy-driven breakthrough innovation and supply-dominated institutional construction-though both ultimately require formal-informal system synergy.Their coevolution is driven by dynamic interactions of path dependence(weakening influence),learning-innovation(strengthening influence),and relationship selection(inverted U-shaped trajectory),with divergent development paths rooted in TAIC’s grassroots self-organization genes versus WAIC’s top-level design genes,amplified by core enterprises’strategic disparities.The research findings can not only provide decision-making support for China’s industrial upgrading,but also contribute China’s insights to global economic governance.展开更多
Cropland abandonment substantially affects food security and agricultural sustainability,yet comprehensive analyses of its dynamics in rapidly developing regions remain limited.This study examines the spatiotemporal p...Cropland abandonment substantially affects food security and agricultural sustainability,yet comprehensive analyses of its dynamics in rapidly developing regions remain limited.This study examines the spatiotemporal patterns,labor migration influences,and food security implications of cropland abandonment in China from 1992 to 2022.The results show that abandonment progressed through four phases:slow growth,rapid increase,high-level fluctuation peaking at 3.98%in 2016,and gradual decline.The research identified three primary abandonment patterns—single long-term(≥10years),progressive degradation,and occasional(3-9 years)-with distinct spatial distributions.Long-term abandonment concentrates in the marginal agricultural areas of southwestern mountainous regions,while occasional abandonment predominates in the more economically developed eastern coastal areas,and progressive degradation patterns appear in transitional zones between plains and mountains.Labor migration influenced abandonment non-linearly with distinct regional thresholds.Short-distance(within-county)migration reduced abandonment rates,while medium-distance(withinprovince)migration significantly increased them.Although 57.50%of abandonment occurred on low-suitability land,42.50%affected high-suitability cropland,resulting in peak potential grain losses of 15.0 and 8.8 million tonnes for low and high suitability land respectively in 2010.These findings support regionally differentiated land management strategies that integrate land suitability assessments,labor migration patterns,and local socioeconomic conditions to ensure agricultural sustainability.展开更多
Incorporating ecosystem health(EH)assessment into ecological function zoning(EFZ)provides a scientific basis for regional ecosystem management.This study quantitatively assessed EH in Qinghai and Xizang(QX)of China du...Incorporating ecosystem health(EH)assessment into ecological function zoning(EFZ)provides a scientific basis for regional ecosystem management.This study quantitatively assessed EH in Qinghai and Xizang(QX)of China during 2000–2023 using the vigor-organization-resilience-services(VORS)model across multiple spatial scales(raster,town,county,and basin),and examined spatial clustering patterns using spatial autocorrelation.EH indicators were then integrated with ecological sensitivity to delineate ecological function zones using self-organizing feature mapping(SOFM),and path analysis was applied to identify dominant drivers of EH across different zones.Results showed that:1)EH in QX generally improved over time but exhibited pronounced scale dependence and spatial heterogeneity.A stable large-scale gradient of‘higher in the east and lower in the north’was observed across all scales,while temporal variations were more evident at finer scales and became attenuated at coarser scales.2)EH displayed significant positive spatial autocorrelation dominated by‘High-High’and‘Low-Low’associations,although clustering strength declined over time,especially at finer spatial resolutions.3)QX was designated as five ecological function zones,named using a three-part scheme(geographic sectordominant ecosystem type-primary function):North-Alpine desert-Sand fixation zone(ZoneⅠ),West-Alpine desert steppe-Ecological fragile zone(ZoneⅡ),Southwest-Alpine steppe and meadow-Water sensitive zone(ZoneⅢ),East-Alpine meadow-Water yield zone(ZoneⅣ),and Southeast-Tropical seasonal rainforest-Ecosystem services provisioning zone(ZoneⅤ).4)At the raster scale of the entire study area,temperature and proportion of forestland area were the most influential factors associated with EH,while NDVI and the proportion of grassland area played relatively smaller roles.Across zones,the dominant drivers of EH differed,reflecting clear spatial heterogeneity in ecosystem regulation mechanisms.These findings demonstrate the value of integrating EH assessment into EFZ and provide scientific support for differentiated ecosystem management and conservation strategies in QX.展开更多
The shift toward specialized and large-scale agricultural production has spurred the emergence of agricultural clusters as key forces of rural vitalization and sustainable development.This paper explored the formation...The shift toward specialized and large-scale agricultural production has spurred the emergence of agricultural clusters as key forces of rural vitalization and sustainable development.This paper explored the formation and evolution of Meizhou pomelo industry cluster in China,focusing on its role in restructuring rural socio-economic systems and integrating the whole value chains.Based on a case study employing qualitative methods such as in-depth interviews and participatory observation,the agricultural cluster evolution of Meizhou pomelo was categorized into three key phases of initial decentralization,self-organized scaling,and reorganized clustering.Geographical proximity and industrial agglomeration constitute the physical foundation,while vertical/horizontal linkages,technologic-al innovation,and policy support enhance competitiveness.Special mechanisms emerge through localized social networks,farmer co-operatives’activation,and cross-regional market expansion.The cluster’s impact is manifested in the shift from extensive to standard-ized and modernized production,diversified and flexible livelihood of farmers,and the integration of agriculture with industry and ser-vices.The development of the whole value chain based on agricultural cluster represents a critical pathway for achieving agricultural modernization,encompassing both internal and external value chain optimization.Through quality assurance systems,product diversi-fication strategies,operational efficiency improvements,and brand enhancement,these clusters amplify product value propositions and market competitiveness.This systemic approach facilitates supply-demand coordination,enables resource synergies,and optimizes eco-nomic returns across the horizontal and vertical value chain.This paper argues that agricultural clusters serve as strategic catalysts for sustainable rural development by reconstructing local production systems,fostering innovation ecosystems,and aligning agricultural modernization.It contributes to debates on rural vitalization by demonstrating how agricultural clustering can reconfigure rural areas as hubs of ecological modernization,rather than mere urban peripheries.展开更多
The three-dimensional resistivity model of the lithosphere and fluid content plays a significant role in analyzing the spatiotemporal distribution and dynamic reasons for the North China Craton(NCC)destruction.The con...The three-dimensional resistivity model of the lithosphere and fluid content plays a significant role in analyzing the spatiotemporal distribution and dynamic reasons for the North China Craton(NCC)destruction.The conductivity is related to temperature and melt fraction using laboratory experiments.The Hashin-Shtrikman(HS)bounds are used to constrain the conductivity range of rocks in the solid and solid-melt systems.The authors established the lithospheric conductivity-temperature relationship by combining the mineral composition obtained from the analysis of xenoliths,the steady-state heat conduction equation,water,and carbon dioxide.To discuss the destruction of the NCC,the three-dimensional resistivity structure model obtained from the magnetotelluric sounding(MT)array inversion of the NCC is compared with the model calculated using the HS bounds.The research results show that the higher the volatile water and carbon dioxide content in the fluid,the lower the mantle solidus.Based on the melt fractions of the Ordos Block,Trans-North China Orogen,and Bohai Bay Basin,the speculated lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary(LAB)exhibits the characteristics of deep in the west and shallow in the east.The partial melting of the Bohai Bay Basin began at a shallower depth than other places,with a more significant difference in fluid content in the depth.展开更多
The Yili River Basin in Northwest China is a crucial ecological security barrier,yet it faces frequent droughts amid global climate change,posing significant threats to food security and ecological stability.However,t...The Yili River Basin in Northwest China is a crucial ecological security barrier,yet it faces frequent droughts amid global climate change,posing significant threats to food security and ecological stability.However,the spatiotemporal variations and driving mechanisms of drought in the basin remain unclear.Based on the monthly Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index(SPEI),this study employed the Run-Length theory to identify drought events in the basin during 1980-2020,applied statistical and time-series analyses to investigate the spatiotemporal variations,trends,periodicity,and persistence of drought,and explored the underlying drivers associated with meteorological factors and large-scale atmospheric circulation patterns.The results showed that droughts in the Yili River Basin are more severe in spring and summer.Droughts in the central and southwestern regions exhibit greater severity,with shorter durations and stronger intensity.Drought conditions have generally worsened(Sen’s slope=−0.146/10 yr),with notable intensification since 2005,especially in the northwestern region.Spring droughts(Sen’s slope=−0.213/10 yr)and summer droughts(Sen’s slope=−0.169/10 yr)have intensified at most stations,while autumn and winter droughts have eased.In the future,droughts are expected to alleviate overall,but summer droughts may continue to intensify.The Yili River Basin exhibits two primary drought periods of 9 yr and 21 yr,with primary periods in autumn(20 yr)and winter(20 yr)being longer than those in spring(10 yr)and summer(17 yr).Finally,droughts are impacted by both meteorological factors and large-scale atmospheric circulation patterns.Rising temperatures and uneven precipitation have intensified droughts.The SPEI exhibits a co-phase relationship with the North Atlantic Oscillation and an antiphase relationship with the East Central Tropical Pacific Sea Surface Temperature.Therefore,close monitoring and mitigation are necessary for spring and summer droughts,with a focus on the central and southwestern areas in autumn and winter.展开更多
In the knowledge economy era,the rapid flow channels represented by high-speed rail(HSR)and online information flow promote cross-border development between cities.This study constructed a conceptual model of cross-bo...In the knowledge economy era,the rapid flow channels represented by high-speed rail(HSR)and online information flow promote cross-border development between cities.This study constructed a conceptual model of cross-border development from the perspective of flow space.Taking the Yangtze River Delta Region(YRDR),China,as a case study,we apply the Speaker-listener Label Propagation Algorithm(SLPA)to detect the heterogeneity patterns of cross-border development shaped by HSR flow and information flow in 2021.Results show that cross-border development among cities is more evident under information flows compared to HSR flow.Furthermore,intra-provincial cross-border development predominates under HSR flow,whereas inter-provincial cross-border development is more frequent under in-formation flow.Additionally,information flow leads to more shared or competitive nodes in cross-border development across different communities.In the future,leveraging these nodes'intermediary role will be the key to driving the next phase of regional integration.This research will enhance and broaden the theoretical frameworks for cross-border integrated development,flow space,and regional coordinated development.展开更多
Stand age plays a crucial role in forest biomass estimation and carbon cycle modeling.Assessing the uncertainty of stand age prediction models and identifying the key driving factors in the modeling process have becom...Stand age plays a crucial role in forest biomass estimation and carbon cycle modeling.Assessing the uncertainty of stand age prediction models and identifying the key driving factors in the modeling process have become major challenges in forestry research.In this study,we selected the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia region of Northeast China as the research area and utilized multi-source datasets from the summer of 2019 to extract information on spectral,textural,climatic,water balance,and stand characteristics.By integrating the Random Forest(RF)model with Monte Carlo(MC)simulation,we constructed six regression models based on different combina-tions of features and evaluated the uncertainty of each model.Furthermore,we investigated the driving factors influencing stand age modeling by analyzing the effects of different types of features on age inversion.Model performance and accuracy were assessed using the root mean square error(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and the coefficient of determination(R2),while the relative root mean square error(rRMSE)was employed to quantify model uncertainty.The results indicate that the scenarios with more obvious improve-ment in accuracy and effective reduction in uncertainty were Scenario 3 with the inclusion of climate and water balance information(RMSE=25.54 yr,MAE=18.03 yr,R2=0.51,rRMSE=19.17%)and Scenario 5 with the inclusion of stand characterization informa-tion(RMSE=18.47 yr,MAE=13.05 yr,R2=0.74,rRMSE=16.99%).Scenario 6,incorporating all feature types,achieved the highest accuracy(RMSE=17.60 yr,MAE=12.06 yr,R2=0.77,rRMSE=14.19%).In this study,elevation,minimum temperature,and diameter at breast height(DBH)emerged as the key drivers of stand-age modeling.The proposed method can be used to identify drivers and to quantify uncertainty in stand-age estimation,providing a useful reference for improving model accuracy and uncertainty assessment.展开更多

摘要Better telling China’s human rights stories and clarifying the logic of human rights in China are important tasks to build discourse power and influence in the human rights field commensurate with China’s comprehensive national strength and international status.In 2025,China’s human rights research transformed the practical achievements of“handling China’s affairs well”into the discourse power and communication effects of“better tell China’s stories”by clarifying the narrative stance of China’s human rights stories,exploring materials for China’s human rights stories,and analyzing the mainstream agendas and core interests of the audiences of China’s human rights stories.It integrated the logic of human rights in China into vivid and specific human rights stories in China by distinguishing the philosophical foundation and cutting-edge progress of the Chinese outlook on human rights,extracting the deep mutually constitutive relationship between China’s path of human rights development and Chinese path to modernization,and explaining the sectoral and fieldbased legal pathways for the legal protection of human rights in China.Looking ahead,China’s human rights research should continue to uphold fundamental principles and break new ground,so that profound and warm human rights stories in China and the logic of human rights in China featuring Chinese wisdom and values can jointly serve the goal of building an independent knowledge system of human rights in China.

摘要This study presents a comprehensive analysis of 132 tornadic events in northeastern China from 2004 to 2023,utilizing radar and ERA5 reanalysis data to investigate the climatology,environmental drivers,and synoptic linkages with Northeast China cold vortices(NCCVs)of tornadic storms under different convective modes.Results reveal that discrete storms account for 70%of events,with clustered cells(CC)being the most frequent mode,while significant tornadoes(EF2+)are primarily associated with isolated cells(IC)and broken lines(BL).The storm mode distribution in northeastern China resembles that of the central United States but with a higher proportion of CC and lower IC.In contrast,southern China exhibits a higher frequency of quasi-linear(QL)modes(>50%),similar to European patterns.Although no single parameter clearly differentiates between all tornado modes,distinct morphological characteristics emerge through specific parameter combinations:NL modes are characterized by high 0-1 km storm-relative helicity(SRH1)and humidity but low 0-6 km shear(SR6),whereas IC modes display contrasting features with low SRH1 and high CAPE.Notably,83%of tornadoes are associated with NCCVs,preferentially forming in southeastern/southwestern quadrants.Strong tornadoes favor southeastern quadrants,while NCCV intensity correlates with tornadic distance from vortex centers.Three characteristic synoptic configurations emerge:(T1)strong deep vortices with vertically aligned cold troughs,generating southeast-dominant tornado clusters characterized by a high proportion of BL and QL modes;(T2)weaker vortices featuring sub-synoptic troughs,with southern-distributed events dominated by a predominance of the CC mode;(T3)transverse-trough systems exhibiting CAPE-SRH decoupling and reduced tornadic activity.This study enhances our understanding of tornadoes in northeastern China,informing future research on formation mechanisms,prediction methods,and disaster prevention strategies.

摘要Background:Heart failure(HF)continues to be a public health issue in China with population aging and increasing disease drivers.The burden,spatial patterns,temporal trends,and underlying causes of HF in China at subnational levels remain inadequately understood.This study aims to assess the disease burden and causes of HF,and their regional disparities in China from 1990 to 2023.Methods:Utilizing the estimates from the Global Burden of Diseases,Injuries,and Risk Factors Study(GBD)2023,we assessed the prevalence and years lived with disability(YLDs)of HF and their trends in China at both national and subnational levels.Estimates were also compared by disease severity,sex,age group,cause,and region.Results:In 2023,China had an estimated 14.3 million HF cases,marking a significant 208.4% increase over the past three decades.Ischemic heart disease(IHD)has become the top cause of HF,compared with 1990,with hypertensive heart disease(HHD)at the top.Alongside chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),these three leading causes accounted for 77.4%of all HF cases.The burden of HF due to IHD and COPD exhibited distinct regional patterns and substantial disparities:regions in northern China exhibited notably higher age-standardized YLDs rates for HF due to IHD,while provinces in the western regions faced the highest burden from COPD.Six provinces with the highest tertile of YLDs rates in 2023 also experienced the most pronounced increases between 1990 and 2023.Conclusions:HF remains a significant public health challenge in China,with a marked increase in prevalence over the past three decades.The substantial regional variations highlight the need for targeted and region-specific public health strategies.Enhanced nationwide efforts should be made to reduce the geographical disparities in the burden of HF.

摘要Alleviating the imbalance between urban and rural areas for regional coordinated development is an imperative response to the Sustainable Development Goal 10 of the United Nations.To track China’s urban-rural integration progress and address the uneven issues in specific fields,this study constructed a novel seven-dimension index system of urban-rural integration,comprising free population mobility,efficient land transfer,interactive economic growth,highly-linked transportation,equal public services,joint environmental governance and unimpeded informatization between urban and rural areas.Based on a comprehensive measurement framework and multi-source panel data,we uncovered the spatial-temporal evolution of urban-rural integration in China’s 367 prefecture-level administrative units from 1980 to 2022.The results demonstrated that China’s urban-rural integration steadily increased from 27.51 to 57.35 with an average annual growth rate of 3.40%.Whereas,the overall urban-rural integration was relatively inferior in 2022,at the level of moderate integration whose proportion of China’s land area was 88.08%.The urban-rural integration level in eastern region and urban agglomerations was higher than that in mid-west and non-urban agglomerations.From the perspective of seven dimensions,interactive economic growth,joint environmental governance and unimpeded informatization made an obvious improvement and reached higher integration,while free population mobility,efficient land transfer,highly-linked transportation and equal public services maintained the stage of moderate integration in 2022.In the future,China should make targeted efforts for urban-rural integration in terms of population,land use,transportation and public services,and accelerate urban-rural common prosperity in the mid-west and economically underdeveloped areas.

摘要Dear Editor,The National Health Commission(NHC)of China has championed the creation of weight management clinics to confront the growing crisis of overweight and obesity.Forecasts indicate that by 2030,the prevalence of these conditions among Chinese adults and children could climb to 70.5%and 31.8%,respectively[1].This troubling trajectory,alongside an increasing burden of chronic illnesses such as diabetes,hypertension,and cardiovascular diseases,underscores the need for immediate action.Instead of focusing solely on weight management clinics,we propose that medical institutions prioritize the establishment of comprehensive chronic disease management clinics,building upon the foundation of weight management clinics to holistically address obesity,aging,and healthcare system challenges.

摘要Climate disasters lead to substantial economic losses and grain yield losses,emphasizing the need for adaptation to ensure food security.As digital technologies advance,it is imperative to investigate how digital literacy among grain farmers affects their adaptive production behaviors in the face of climate disasters.Drawing on survey data from 505 grain-producing smallholders in Sichuan Province,China,this study constructs a theoretical framework linking digital literacy,climate disaster risk perception,and adaptive production behaviors.Empirical analysis shows that digital literacy positively impacts the adaptive production behaviors of grain-producing smallholders.Our results are robust across various models and tests.An analysis of the mediation mechanism reveals that digital literacy contributes to climate disaster-adaptive production behaviors by improving the awareness of climate disaster risks.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the positive impact of digital literacy is more pronounced for smallholders that receive internet skills training and climate information services,and this impact intensifies as the level of agricultural infrastructure improves.The findings suggest that digital literacy plays a key role in reducing production risks,thereby contributing to increased sustainable agricultural development among smallholders.

摘要Fine particulate matter(PM2.5)and ozone(O3)have emerged as major air pollutants in China,posing risks to human health.In this paper,Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei,a key region for air pollution prevention and control in China,was selected as the study area to analyze the characteristics of PM2.5and O3 concentration changes and their health effects from 2014 to 2023,and to estimate the potential health benefits of realizing different emission reduction standards in 2030.The results have shown that:1)The annual average PM2.5concentration in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei showed a decreasing trend from 2014 to 2023,while the daily maximum 8-h sliding average of O3(O3-8h concentration)showed a fluctuating increasing trend.2)The number of premature deaths and economic losses attributed to PM2.5pollution showed a decreasing trend,while the changes in the number of premature deaths and economic losses attributed to O3 pollution showed an opposite trend,in which the health risks and economic losses in Beijing and Tianjin were relatively prominent.3)If the annual average concentrations of PM2.5and O3 in 2030 reach the limits of the secondary standards of Ambient Air Quality Standards(GB 3095–2012),the number of premature deaths attributed to PM2.5and O3 in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei will decrease by 23.08%and20.45%,respectively,compared with that in 2023,and with the increase of per capita disposable income year by year,the health and economic losses will be reduced by 41.23×108 yuan(RMB)(95%CI:33.71×108–48.72×108 yuan)and 98.89×108 yuan(95%CI:54.14×108–142.67×108yuan),respectively;the increase in the number of premature deaths can be further avoided and significant economic benefits can be realized if the concentrations of PM2.5and O3 are further reduced to higher standards.The study shows that the PM2.5control in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei has been effective,but the O3 pollution problem is emphasized,and the number of health deaths and economic losses caused by it are on the rise,and higher target air quality standards should be set in order to effectively improve the health of residents and bring significant economic benefits.

摘要Ensuring national food security amidst rapid population growth and increasing extreme weather events remains a critical global challenge.However,the extent to which agricultural modernization in China enhances grain yield and contributes to food security remains unclear.Therefore,using panel data from 327 Chinese cities(2013–2021),this study employs spatial econometric models to analyze the spatial spillover effects of agricultural modernization level(AML)on grain yield and to reveal regional heterogeneity across nine major agricultural zones.The results showed a cumulative grain yield increase of 23.7 million tons,with peak productivity concentrated along the Hu Line and declining eastward and westward.AML also exhibited a steady increase but a clear spatial gradient,decreasing from coastal to inland regions,with the highest level observed in Southern China(SC).A key finding was that a 1%increase in AML directly raised local grain yield by an average of 4.185%,accompanied by significant positive spillover effects on neighboring regions.Regional variations revealed distinct patterns:the direct effects of AML were more pronounced in southern and eastern zones,while spillover effects dominated in northern and western zones.The largest positive direct impact of AML on grain yield was observed in the SC(8.499%),while Middle-Lower Yangtze Plain ranked second but exhibited the strongest positive spatial spillover effect(4.534%).These findings highlight the critical role of agricultural modernization in promoting grain production and provide a solid basis for optimizing regional agricultural systems,ensuring food security,and advancing sustainable agriculture.
摘要The basic condition of earthquake disasters in China is featured by high frequency,strong intensity,wide distribution,and heavy losses.Earthquake forecasting plays a critical role in reducing seismic risks.To better advance earthquake predicting efforts,the China Earthquake Administration released the Strategic Plan for Earthquake Forecasting in China(2025−2035)on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Haicheng earthquake.Here we briefly introduce the main contents of the Strategic Plan,including the main progress,strategic objectives,and development directions of earthquake forecasting in China.

摘要Traditional villages represent a concentrated expression of the preservation and transmission of traditional culture within the context of rural revitalization,conveying important social,historical,and cultural values.Based on the perspective of spatial genes,this study selected 67 typical traditional villages in the Wuling Mountain Area in Southwest China as the case study.Between 2021 and 2024,by identifying and extracting spatial genes through the semi-structured interviews,Laddering Technique,and Landscape Pattern Index,and applying the geo-detector,the study explored the morphological characteristics and influencing mechanisms of traditional Tujia villages from the perspective of spatial genes of ecological-production-living.The findings are as follows:1)the spatial genes of traditional Tujia villages in the Wuling Mountain Area exhibit distinct patterns.Ecological genes,categorized by natural environment and layout,demonstrate a transition from clustered to dispersed patterns from the southern to northern regions.Production genes,categorized by location and cultivation patterns,show concentrated agricultural lands in the south and fragmented in the north.Living genes,divided into house plans,facades,and public buildings,reveal a higher prevalence of courtyards,stilted houses,and public buildings in northern areas.2)The spatial genes have evolved through the combined influence of four key factors:natural environment,socioeconomic development,policy systems,and ethnic culture.3)The integration of multi-source data and the application of both qualitative and quantitative approaches provide a comprehensive framework for analyzing traditional village form and their influencing mechanisms.This methodology offers valuable insights for developing sustainable strategies for the conservation of traditional Tujia traditional villages in this region.

摘要Bottom-up and top-down endogenous automobile clusters exhibit distinct evolutionary traits and driving mechanisms,yet their comparative analysis remains understudied.Therefore,using Taizhou automobile industry cluster(TAIC)and Wuhu automobile industry cluster(WAIC)as cases,using historical statistical data and field interview data from the 1980s to 2023,combined with qualitative research methods of thematic and diachronic analysis,and quantitative research methods of social network analysis,we compare both endogenous automobile clusters’evolutionary traits and driving mechanisms.The results confirm both clusters undergo multi-scale spatial reconfiguration,organizational complexification,and intelligent networking technological transformation,yet diverge fundamentally:TAIC evolves through market-driven progressive expansion,transitioning from single to dual-core structures via private enterprise networking,with innovation following market-integrated logic and institutional thickness built on demand-driven evolution.Conversely,WAIC follows planned expansion,maintaining state-led hierarchical single-core stability through policy-driven breakthrough innovation and supply-dominated institutional construction-though both ultimately require formal-informal system synergy.Their coevolution is driven by dynamic interactions of path dependence(weakening influence),learning-innovation(strengthening influence),and relationship selection(inverted U-shaped trajectory),with divergent development paths rooted in TAIC’s grassroots self-organization genes versus WAIC’s top-level design genes,amplified by core enterprises’strategic disparities.The research findings can not only provide decision-making support for China’s industrial upgrading,but also contribute China’s insights to global economic governance.

摘要Cropland abandonment substantially affects food security and agricultural sustainability,yet comprehensive analyses of its dynamics in rapidly developing regions remain limited.This study examines the spatiotemporal patterns,labor migration influences,and food security implications of cropland abandonment in China from 1992 to 2022.The results show that abandonment progressed through four phases:slow growth,rapid increase,high-level fluctuation peaking at 3.98%in 2016,and gradual decline.The research identified three primary abandonment patterns—single long-term(≥10years),progressive degradation,and occasional(3-9 years)-with distinct spatial distributions.Long-term abandonment concentrates in the marginal agricultural areas of southwestern mountainous regions,while occasional abandonment predominates in the more economically developed eastern coastal areas,and progressive degradation patterns appear in transitional zones between plains and mountains.Labor migration influenced abandonment non-linearly with distinct regional thresholds.Short-distance(within-county)migration reduced abandonment rates,while medium-distance(withinprovince)migration significantly increased them.Although 57.50%of abandonment occurred on low-suitability land,42.50%affected high-suitability cropland,resulting in peak potential grain losses of 15.0 and 8.8 million tonnes for low and high suitability land respectively in 2010.These findings support regionally differentiated land management strategies that integrate land suitability assessments,labor migration patterns,and local socioeconomic conditions to ensure agricultural sustainability.

摘要Incorporating ecosystem health(EH)assessment into ecological function zoning(EFZ)provides a scientific basis for regional ecosystem management.This study quantitatively assessed EH in Qinghai and Xizang(QX)of China during 2000–2023 using the vigor-organization-resilience-services(VORS)model across multiple spatial scales(raster,town,county,and basin),and examined spatial clustering patterns using spatial autocorrelation.EH indicators were then integrated with ecological sensitivity to delineate ecological function zones using self-organizing feature mapping(SOFM),and path analysis was applied to identify dominant drivers of EH across different zones.Results showed that:1)EH in QX generally improved over time but exhibited pronounced scale dependence and spatial heterogeneity.A stable large-scale gradient of‘higher in the east and lower in the north’was observed across all scales,while temporal variations were more evident at finer scales and became attenuated at coarser scales.2)EH displayed significant positive spatial autocorrelation dominated by‘High-High’and‘Low-Low’associations,although clustering strength declined over time,especially at finer spatial resolutions.3)QX was designated as five ecological function zones,named using a three-part scheme(geographic sectordominant ecosystem type-primary function):North-Alpine desert-Sand fixation zone(ZoneⅠ),West-Alpine desert steppe-Ecological fragile zone(ZoneⅡ),Southwest-Alpine steppe and meadow-Water sensitive zone(ZoneⅢ),East-Alpine meadow-Water yield zone(ZoneⅣ),and Southeast-Tropical seasonal rainforest-Ecosystem services provisioning zone(ZoneⅤ).4)At the raster scale of the entire study area,temperature and proportion of forestland area were the most influential factors associated with EH,while NDVI and the proportion of grassland area played relatively smaller roles.Across zones,the dominant drivers of EH differed,reflecting clear spatial heterogeneity in ecosystem regulation mechanisms.These findings demonstrate the value of integrating EH assessment into EFZ and provide scientific support for differentiated ecosystem management and conservation strategies in QX.

摘要The shift toward specialized and large-scale agricultural production has spurred the emergence of agricultural clusters as key forces of rural vitalization and sustainable development.This paper explored the formation and evolution of Meizhou pomelo industry cluster in China,focusing on its role in restructuring rural socio-economic systems and integrating the whole value chains.Based on a case study employing qualitative methods such as in-depth interviews and participatory observation,the agricultural cluster evolution of Meizhou pomelo was categorized into three key phases of initial decentralization,self-organized scaling,and reorganized clustering.Geographical proximity and industrial agglomeration constitute the physical foundation,while vertical/horizontal linkages,technologic-al innovation,and policy support enhance competitiveness.Special mechanisms emerge through localized social networks,farmer co-operatives’activation,and cross-regional market expansion.The cluster’s impact is manifested in the shift from extensive to standard-ized and modernized production,diversified and flexible livelihood of farmers,and the integration of agriculture with industry and ser-vices.The development of the whole value chain based on agricultural cluster represents a critical pathway for achieving agricultural modernization,encompassing both internal and external value chain optimization.Through quality assurance systems,product diversi-fication strategies,operational efficiency improvements,and brand enhancement,these clusters amplify product value propositions and market competitiveness.This systemic approach facilitates supply-demand coordination,enables resource synergies,and optimizes eco-nomic returns across the horizontal and vertical value chain.This paper argues that agricultural clusters serve as strategic catalysts for sustainable rural development by reconstructing local production systems,fostering innovation ecosystems,and aligning agricultural modernization.It contributes to debates on rural vitalization by demonstrating how agricultural clustering can reconfigure rural areas as hubs of ecological modernization,rather than mere urban peripheries.

摘要The three-dimensional resistivity model of the lithosphere and fluid content plays a significant role in analyzing the spatiotemporal distribution and dynamic reasons for the North China Craton(NCC)destruction.The conductivity is related to temperature and melt fraction using laboratory experiments.The Hashin-Shtrikman(HS)bounds are used to constrain the conductivity range of rocks in the solid and solid-melt systems.The authors established the lithospheric conductivity-temperature relationship by combining the mineral composition obtained from the analysis of xenoliths,the steady-state heat conduction equation,water,and carbon dioxide.To discuss the destruction of the NCC,the three-dimensional resistivity structure model obtained from the magnetotelluric sounding(MT)array inversion of the NCC is compared with the model calculated using the HS bounds.The research results show that the higher the volatile water and carbon dioxide content in the fluid,the lower the mantle solidus.Based on the melt fractions of the Ordos Block,Trans-North China Orogen,and Bohai Bay Basin,the speculated lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary(LAB)exhibits the characteristics of deep in the west and shallow in the east.The partial melting of the Bohai Bay Basin began at a shallower depth than other places,with a more significant difference in fluid content in the depth.

摘要The Yili River Basin in Northwest China is a crucial ecological security barrier,yet it faces frequent droughts amid global climate change,posing significant threats to food security and ecological stability.However,the spatiotemporal variations and driving mechanisms of drought in the basin remain unclear.Based on the monthly Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index(SPEI),this study employed the Run-Length theory to identify drought events in the basin during 1980-2020,applied statistical and time-series analyses to investigate the spatiotemporal variations,trends,periodicity,and persistence of drought,and explored the underlying drivers associated with meteorological factors and large-scale atmospheric circulation patterns.The results showed that droughts in the Yili River Basin are more severe in spring and summer.Droughts in the central and southwestern regions exhibit greater severity,with shorter durations and stronger intensity.Drought conditions have generally worsened(Sen’s slope=−0.146/10 yr),with notable intensification since 2005,especially in the northwestern region.Spring droughts(Sen’s slope=−0.213/10 yr)and summer droughts(Sen’s slope=−0.169/10 yr)have intensified at most stations,while autumn and winter droughts have eased.In the future,droughts are expected to alleviate overall,but summer droughts may continue to intensify.The Yili River Basin exhibits two primary drought periods of 9 yr and 21 yr,with primary periods in autumn(20 yr)and winter(20 yr)being longer than those in spring(10 yr)and summer(17 yr).Finally,droughts are impacted by both meteorological factors and large-scale atmospheric circulation patterns.Rising temperatures and uneven precipitation have intensified droughts.The SPEI exhibits a co-phase relationship with the North Atlantic Oscillation and an antiphase relationship with the East Central Tropical Pacific Sea Surface Temperature.Therefore,close monitoring and mitigation are necessary for spring and summer droughts,with a focus on the central and southwestern areas in autumn and winter.

摘要In the knowledge economy era,the rapid flow channels represented by high-speed rail(HSR)and online information flow promote cross-border development between cities.This study constructed a conceptual model of cross-border development from the perspective of flow space.Taking the Yangtze River Delta Region(YRDR),China,as a case study,we apply the Speaker-listener Label Propagation Algorithm(SLPA)to detect the heterogeneity patterns of cross-border development shaped by HSR flow and information flow in 2021.Results show that cross-border development among cities is more evident under information flows compared to HSR flow.Furthermore,intra-provincial cross-border development predominates under HSR flow,whereas inter-provincial cross-border development is more frequent under in-formation flow.Additionally,information flow leads to more shared or competitive nodes in cross-border development across different communities.In the future,leveraging these nodes'intermediary role will be the key to driving the next phase of regional integration.This research will enhance and broaden the theoretical frameworks for cross-border integrated development,flow space,and regional coordinated development.

摘要Stand age plays a crucial role in forest biomass estimation and carbon cycle modeling.Assessing the uncertainty of stand age prediction models and identifying the key driving factors in the modeling process have become major challenges in forestry research.In this study,we selected the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia region of Northeast China as the research area and utilized multi-source datasets from the summer of 2019 to extract information on spectral,textural,climatic,water balance,and stand characteristics.By integrating the Random Forest(RF)model with Monte Carlo(MC)simulation,we constructed six regression models based on different combina-tions of features and evaluated the uncertainty of each model.Furthermore,we investigated the driving factors influencing stand age modeling by analyzing the effects of different types of features on age inversion.Model performance and accuracy were assessed using the root mean square error(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and the coefficient of determination(R2),while the relative root mean square error(rRMSE)was employed to quantify model uncertainty.The results indicate that the scenarios with more obvious improve-ment in accuracy and effective reduction in uncertainty were Scenario 3 with the inclusion of climate and water balance information(RMSE=25.54 yr,MAE=18.03 yr,R2=0.51,rRMSE=19.17%)and Scenario 5 with the inclusion of stand characterization informa-tion(RMSE=18.47 yr,MAE=13.05 yr,R2=0.74,rRMSE=16.99%).Scenario 6,incorporating all feature types,achieved the highest accuracy(RMSE=17.60 yr,MAE=12.06 yr,R2=0.77,rRMSE=14.19%).In this study,elevation,minimum temperature,and diameter at breast height(DBH)emerged as the key drivers of stand-age modeling.The proposed method can be used to identify drivers and to quantify uncertainty in stand-age estimation,providing a useful reference for improving model accuracy and uncertainty assessment.
