A new fixed-depth suspension control algorithm for mobile marine seismometer and its testing results 认领 引用

A mobile marine seismometer(MMS)is a vertical underwater vehicle that detects ocean seismic waves.One of the critical operational requirements for an MMS is that it remains suspended at a desired depth.This article aimed to propose a fixed-depth suspension control for the MMS with a limited onboard energy supply.The research team established a kinematic model to analyze fluctuations in the vertical motion of the MMS and the delayed response of the system.We ascertained a direct one-to-one correlation between the displacement volume of the mobile ocean seismic instrument and the depth at which it reaches a state of neutral buoyancy(commonly referred to as the hover depth).A fixed-depth control algorithm was introduced,allowing a gradual approach to the necessary displacement volume to reach the desired suspension depth.The study optimized the boundary conditions to reduce unnecessary adjustments and mitigate the time delay caused by the instrument’s inertia,thereby significantly minimizing energy consumption.This method does not require calculating the hydrodynamic parameters or transfer functions of the MMS,thereby considerably reducing the implementation complexity.In the three-month sea trial in the South China Sea,the seismic instrument was set to hover at 800 m,with a permissible fluctuation of±100 m,operating on a seven-day cycle.The experimental results show that the seismic instrument has an average hover error of 34.6 m,with a vertical drift depth of 29.6 m per cycle,and the buoyancy adjustment system made six adjustments,indicating that our proposed control method performs satisfactorily.In addition,this method provides new insights for the fixed-depth control of other ocean observation devices that rely on buoyancy adjustment. 展开更多

Among all kinds of wavefront control algorithms in adaptive optics systems, the direct gradient wavefront control algorithm is the most widespread and common method. This control algorithm obtains the actuator voltages directly from wavefront slopes through pre-measuring the relational matrix between deformable mirror actuators and Hartmann wavefront sensor with perfect real-time characteristic and stability. However, with increasing the number of sub-apertures in wavefront sensor and deformable mirror actuators of adaptive optics systems, the matrix operation in direct gradient algorithm takes too much time, which becomes a major factor influencing control effect of adaptive optics systems. In this paper we apply an iterative wavefront control algorithm to high-resolution adaptive optics systems, in which the voltages of each actuator are obtained through iteration arithmetic, which gains great advantage in calculation and storage. For AO system with thousands of actuators, the computational complexity estimate is about O(n2) ~ O(n3) in direct gradient wavefront control algorithm, while the computational complexity estimate in iterative wavefront control algorithm is about O(n) ~(O(n)3/2), in which n is the number of actuators of AO system. And the more the numbers of sub-apertures and deformable mirror actuators, the more significant advantage the iterative wavefront control algorithm exhibits. 展开更多

And its CARMA model was built. Two adaptive control schemes, the minimum variance self tuning control algorithm and the pole configuration self tuning control algorithm, were proposed. The former can make the variance of the output minimum while the latter can make dynamic behavior satisfying. The stability of the two schemes was analyzed. Simulations of them show that the acceleration in the vertical direction has been reduced greatly. The purpose of reducing vibration is realized. The two schemes can reduce the vibration in the suspension and have some practicability. 展开更多

Coasting in gear is a common driving mode for the conventional vehicle equipped with the internal combustion engine(ICE), and the assistant braking function of ICE is utilized to decelerate the vehicle in this mode. However, the electric vehicle(EV) does not have this feature in the coasting mode due to the relatively small inertia of the driving motor, so it will cause the driver cannot obtain the similar driving feeling to that of the conventional vehicle, and even a traffic accident may occur if the driver cannot immediately adapt to the changes. In this paper, the coasting control for EV is researched based on the driving feeling. A conventional vehicle equipped with continuously variable transmission(CVT) is taken as the reference vehicle, and the combined simulation model of EV is established based on AVL CRUISE and MATLAB/Simulink. The torque characteristic of the CVT output shaft is measured in coasting mode, and the data are smoothed and fitted to a polynomial curve. For the EV in coasting mode, if the state of charge(SOC) of the battery is below 95%, the polynomial curve is used as the control target for the torque characteristic of the driving motor, otherwise, the required torque is replaced by hydraulic braking torque to keep the same deceleration. The co-simulation of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow and AVL CRUISE, as well as the hardware-in-loop experiment combined with d SPACE are carried out to verify the effectiveness and the real-time performance of the control algorithm. The results show that the EV with coasting braking control system has similar driving feeling to that of the reference vehicle, meanwhile, the battery SOC can be increased by 0.036% and 0.021% in the initial speed of 100 km/h and 50 km/h, respectively. The proposed control algorithm for EV is beneficial to improve the driving feeling in coasting mode, and it also makes the EV has the assistant braking function. 展开更多

It is in the frequency domain that the PI controller is designed with constraints on sensitivity options to ensure the stability and robustness of its parameters. A case is evaluated on a motorcycle engine crankcase production system, whose simulation results confirm that demand fluctuations can be compensated by PI controllers under a normal demand. The conventional linear quadratic regulator(LQR) control algorithm is one of the most popular active control algorithms.One important issue for LQR control algorithm is the reduction of structure's degrees of freedom(DOF). In this work, an LQR control algorithm with superelement model is intended to solve this issue leading to the fact that LQR control algorithm can be used in large finite element(FE) model for structure. In proposed model, the Craig-Bampton(C-B) method, which is one of the component mode syntheses(CMS), is used to establish superelement modeling to reduce structure's DOF and applied to LQR control algorithm to calculate Kalman gain matrix and obtain control forces. And then, the control forces are applied to original structure to simulate the responses of structure by vibration control. And some examples are given. The results show the computational efficiency of proposed model using synthesized models is higher than that of the classical method of LQR control when the DOF of structure is large. And the accuracy of proposed model is well. Meanwhile, the results show that the proposed control has more effects of vibration absorption on the ground structures than underground structures. 展开更多

This paper investigates traffic flow of connected and automated vehicles at lane drop on two-lane highway. We evaluate and compare performance of an optimization-based control algorithm(OCA) with that of a heuristic rules-based algorithm(HRA). In the OCA, the average speed of each vehicle is maximized. In the HRA, virtual vehicle and restriction of the command acceleration caused by the virtual vehicle are introduced. It is found that(i) capacity under the HRA(denoted as CH) is smaller than capacity under the OCA;(ii) the travel delay is always smaller under the OCA, but driving is always much more comfortable under the HRA;(iii) when the inflow rate is smaller than CH, the HRA outperforms the OCA with respect to the fuel consumption and the monetary cost;(iv) when the inflow rate is larger than CH, the HRA initially performs better with respect to the fuel consumption and the monetary cost, but the OCA would become better after certain time. The spatiotemporal pattern and speed profile of traffic flow are presented, which explains the reason underlying the different performance. The study is expected to help for better understanding of the two different types of algorithm. 展开更多

The generation of electricity,considering environmental and eco-nomic factors is one of the most important challenges of recent years.In this article,a thermoelectric generator(TEG)is proposed to use the thermal energy of an electric water heater(EWH)to generate electricity independently.To improve the energy conversion efficiency of the TEG,a fuzzy logic con-troller(FLC)-based perturb&observe(P&O)type maximum power point tracking(MPPT)control algorithm is used in this study.An EWH is one of the major electricity consuming household appliances which causes a higher electricity price for consumers.Also,a significant amount of thermal energy generated by EWH is wasted every day,especially during the winter season.In recent years,TEGs have been widely developed to convert surplus or unused thermal energy into usable electricity.In this context,the proposed model is designed to use the thermal energy stored in the EWH to generate electricity.In addition,the generated electricity can be easily stored in a battery storage system to supply electricity to various household appliances with low-power-consumption.The proposed MPPT control algorithm helps the system to quickly reach the optimal point corresponding to the maximum power output and maintains the system operating point at the maximum power output level.To validate the usefulness of the proposed scheme,a study model was developed in the MATLAB Simulink environment and its performance was investigated by simulation under steady state and transient conditions.The results of the study confirmed that the system is capable of generating adequate power from the available thermal energy of EWH.It was also found that the output power and efficiency of the system can be improved by maintaining a higher temperature difference at the input terminals of the TEG.Moreover,the real-time temperature data of Abha city in Saudi Arabia is considered to analyze the feasibility of the proposed system for practical implementation. 展开更多

The smart grid operation and decision-making system has the characteristics of smart power detection,data cloud storage,and information fusion.The disadvantage is that the difficulty of model estimation is high,significant fluctuations in energy storage and transmission,algorithm update iteration delay,and low accuracy of data fusion technology.First,models and algorithms for smart grids,improve the multiple domain value delay problem of output stability.Second,the nine-point logic control strategy is based on the partition of deviation and deviation variation based on pan Boolean operations,effectively solving the frequency and band amplitude issues of power grid transmission load fluctuations.When the integral variable or input signals change,compared with traditional PiD control,it is concluded that,just adjusting according to the nine-point logic control strategy,can obtain ideal control and output results.Finally,establishing a simulation model,the results indicate that its control curve performs well in model matching,satisfactory operation in case of model mismatch,and ensures that the fluctuation amplitude and error accuracy meet the requirements.The control strategy has the characteristics of a fast output response,high stability and robustness,and a small overshoot for changing power grid models. 展开更多

To explore the impact of various groups and methods on rumor propagation,the authors propose a‘Double-Refutation(DR)and Double-Blocking(DB)'rumor control strategy.This strategy combines external refutation via media reports,internal refutation by counteracting individuals,and both continuous and impulse blocking methods.By leveraging multi-synergy and aiming to minimize control costs,the authors propose stochastic optimal hybrid control strategies for rumor containment.Additionally,to enhance the response speed of the control strategy,the authors introduce an ensemble learning algorithm as a substitute for theoretical solutions.Numerical simulations demonstrate that the trained ensemble learning control algorithm can quickly identify sub-optimal control strategies for rumor spreading,with costs only 4.1%higher than those of the optimal control theory. 展开更多

Multiple unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)cooperative operation is the main form for UAVs fighting in battlefield,and multi-UAV mission rendezvous is the premise of cooperative reconnaissance and attack missions.We propose a rendezvous control strategy,which divides the rendezvous process into two parts:The loose formation rendezvous and the close formation rendezvous.In the first stage,UAVs are supposed to reach the specific target locations simultaneously and form a loose formation.A distributed control strategy based on first-order consensus algorithm is presented to achieve this goal.Then the second stage is designed based on the second-order consensus algorithm to complete the transition from the loose formation to the close formation.This process needs the speeds and heading angles of UAVs to reach an agreement.Besides,control algorithms with a virtual leader are proposed,by which the formation states can reach a specific value.Finally,simulation results show that the control algorithms are capable of realizing the mission rendezvous of multi-UAV and the consistence of UAVs′final states,which verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the designed control strategy. 展开更多

Unlike the traditional methods do, the algorithm uses a sigmoid function to describe the principle of the human driver's steering strategy. Based on this function, a human simulating vehicle steering model, human-simulating steering control(HS) algorithm is designed. In order to improve the adaptability to different environments, a parameter adaptive adjustment algorithm is presented. This algorithm can online modify the value of the key parameters of the HS real time. HS controller is used on a vehicle equipped with computer vision system and computer controlled steering actuator system, the result from the automatic vehicle steering experiment shows that the HS algorithm gives good performance at different speed, even at the maximum speed of 172 km/h. 展开更多

This work describes how a control algorithm can be implemented in a small (8-bit) microcontroller for the main purpose of merging embedded systems and control theory in electrical engineering undergraduate classes. Two different methods for discretizing the control expression are compared: Euler transformation and bilinear transformation. The sampling rate’s impact on the algorithm is discussed and theoretical results are verified by an application to a temperature control system in a heating plant. Four control algorithms are compared: PID and PI algorithms discretized with Euler and bilinear transformation, respectively. It is shown that for the heating plant used in this work, a bilinear PI algorithm implemented in a small 8-bit microcontroller outperforms a commercial controller from Panasonic. It is also demonstrated that all the derived algorithms can be implemented using integer calculations only, obviating the need for expensive and time-consuming floating-point calculations. This work bridges the gap between control theory equations and the implementation of control systems in small embedded systems with no inherent floating-point processing power. 展开更多

Objective High Energy Photon Source-Test Facility(HEPS-TF)is a pre-research project for the construction of high energy synchrotron radiation source in the 12th five-year plan period.The purpose is to research the key technology and develop the key equipment of high energy synchrotron radiation source.Superconducting 3W1 magnet is the first self-developed superconducting wiggler magnet in China,and it is also one of the key research topics of HEPS.The author has completed a new digital closed-loop control algorithm for the superconducting 3W1 magnet with large load time constant and the nonlinear characteristics of inductance increasing with current,namely three-branch structure algorithm.In the face of the rapid development of high energy accelerator technology,the application of intelligent technology has become an inevitable development trend in the field of accelerator magnet power supply technology.Although the digital control of accelerator magnet power supply has been widely used,it is the first time to apply the new closed-loop control algorithm to realize fast adjustment and precision tracking in accelerator superconducting magnet power supply in China.Method According to the nonlinear characteristics of inductance and output current of superconducting magnet,a new digital closed-loop control algorithm for the load of superconducting magnet power supply with large time constant is proposed.Conclusion This algorithm is quite different from the traditional algorithm and can attain the independent tracking and adjust-ment of the control target.Finally,by testing the ripple,error and stability of superconducting 3W1 magnet power supply,the correctness,practicability and reliability of power supply system as well as the digital control algorithm are verified.The results provide a new idea for the control of accelerator magnet power supply. 展开更多

Two new control algorithms based on MSP430 microcontroller unit(MCU)were developed to improve the performance of a fertigation system controlled by the electrical conductivity(EC)value of an irrigation nutrient solution in a greenhouse.The first algorithm is incremental proportional-integral-derivative(PID),and the second one is a two-stage combination algorithm(PID+fuzzy).With an improved multi-line mixing Venturi tube,several sets of experiments were conducted for a fertilizer absorption test under two conditions,namely,various suction lines and different EC target values settings.Under the first condition,with an EC target value of 2.0 mS/cm and opening of various suction pipes,the steady-state times are 186 s,172 s,134 s,and 122 s corresponding to the opening of one to four suction pipes,respectively,for PID+fuzzy control.The corresponding values are 220 s,196 s,158 s,and 148 s for incremental PID control.Under the second condition,four suction pipes are opened with different target EC values of 1.5 mS/cm,2.0 mS/cm,and 2.5 mS/cm,and the shortest response time and the minimum overshoot were obtained for PID+fuzzy control when the target EC value is 1.5 mS/cm,which are 96 s and 0.18 mS/cm,respectively.While the corresponding values are 112 s and 0.4 mS/cm,respectively for incremental PID control.The two control strategies can adjust the EC value to the target value for real-time control,but the combination control algorithm can be implemented more rapidly,accurately,and steadily with a small overshoot compared with incremental PID control.The combination algorithm(PID+fuzzy)control strategy also possesses better properties for automatic fertigation control in greenhouses than the incremental PID control strategy,the combination algorithm provides an optimal way of water and fertilizer management for crops in greenhouses which will contribute to water and fertilizer saving. 展开更多

Underwater spherical robots are good assistants for ocean exploration,where motion control algorithms play a vital role.Conventional motion control algorithms cannot eliminate the coupling relationship between various motion directions,which will cause the motion control of various directions to interfere with one other and significantly affect the control effect.This study proposes a new decoupling motion control algorithm based on the robot attitude calculation for an underwater spherical robot designed for offshore,shallow water,and narrow terrain.The proposed method uses four fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative(PID)controllers to independently control the robot’s movement in all directions.Experiments show that the motion control algorithm proposed in this study can significantly improve the flexibility and accuracy of the movement of underwater spherical robots. 展开更多
