In both architectures, an array is employed to provide high speed computation. In this paper we show that the implementation of a Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) machine the ABC 90 using the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is not completely suitable because of its characteristics. The comparison between the programmable gate arrays show that, they have many architectures features in common. Within this framework, we examine the differences and similarities between these array structures and touch upon techniques and lessons which can be done between these architectures in order to choose the appropriate Programmable gate array to implement a general purpose parallel computer. In this paper we introduce the principal of the Dynamically Programmable Date Array(DPGA) which combines the best feature of the FPGA and the SIMD arrays into a single array architecture. By the same way we show that the DPGA is more appropriate then the FPGA for wiring, hardwiring the general purpose parallel computers: SIMD and its implementation.展开更多

The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm is widely applied in government department and commerce. This paper analyzed the AES algorithms with different cipher keys, adopted a novel key scheduler that generated the round key real-time, proposed a dynamically reconfigurable encryption system which supported the AES algorithm with different cipher keys, and designed the architecture of the reconfigurable system. The dynamically reconfigurable AES system had been realized on FPGA. The result proves that the reconfigurable AES system is flexible, lower cost and high security level.展开更多

One of the challenging problems is the placement of modules on reconfigurable resources. Several modules placement techniques have been introduced in the literature to solve the temporal placement problem. This paper presents a temporal placement approach that manages the resources of a reconfigurable device. In fact, the authors' contribution focuses on introducing a new temporal placement algorithm that aims to minimize the communication cost between modules. Results show an important improvement in communication cost compared with other approaches.展开更多

However, as the configuration memory and logic memory of the SRAM-based FPGA are highly susceptible to SEUs(single-event upsets) in deep space, it is a challenge to design and implement a highly reliable FPGA-based system for spacecraft, and no practical architecture has been proposed. In this paper, a new architecture for a reliable and reconfigurable FPGAbased computer in a highly critical GNC(guidance navigation and control) system is proposed. To mitigate the effect of an SEU on the system, multi-layer reconfiguration and multi-layer TMR(triple module redundancy) techniques are proposed, with a reliable reconfigurable real-time operating system(Space OS) managing the system level fault tolerance of the computer in the architecture. The proposed architecture for the reconfigurable FPGA-based computer has been implemented with COTS(commercial off the shelf) FPGA and has firstly been applied to the GNC system of a circumlunar return and reentry flight vehicle. The in-orbit results show that the proposed architecture is capable of meeting the requirements of high reliability and high availability, and can provide the expressive varying functionality and runtime flexibility for an FPGA-based GNC computer in deep space.展开更多
