The electrochemical CO2 reduction(CO2R)holds the potential to manufacture carbon-based chemicals and fuels while advancing toward carbon neutrality.On the path to achieving practical CO2R,a significant challenge lies in the formation of carbonate salts due to the interplay between CO2,local alkalinity and metal cations.The carbonate issue leads to the wastage of CO2 reactant,thus resulting in low carbon utilization efficiency and high costs for carbonate regeneration.Additionally,such salt formation can threaten the operation stability of the CO2R in electrolyzers equipped with gas diffusion electrodes(GDE).These challenges motivate us to conduct the present review,aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding and propose solution strategies for the carbonate problem.We start from the mechanism insights into carbonate formation with specific analysis on the kinetics of carbonate formation,mass transfer process,and the influence of interfacial p H,followed by the exposition of advanced techniques to monitor the carbonate accumulation.Next,the design strategies to solve the carbonate problem including the optimization of electrolyte,electrode,membranes and operation conditions,are presented,with a highlight on acidic CO2 electrolysis system without introducing metal cations into electrolyte systems.We finally end up by offering future opportunities in this evolving field.These timely and inspiring perspectives can guide researchers in addressing carbonate-related issues and advance CO2R toward practical feasibility. 展开更多

The Institute of Modern Physics(IMP)of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)has designed and prototyped fundamental power couplers for 81.25 MHz superconducting quarter-wave resonators(QWR)in the High-Intensity Heavy-Ion Accelerator Facility(HIAF).The QWR coupler operates in the pulsed or continuous-wave mode with an average power of 6 kW.This coupler is designed with a 50Ωcoaxial structure and a dual-disk warm-window assembly.Focusing on the optimized heat leakage,a double-walled structure is applied to the outer conductor of the coupler for helium gas cooling at 5 K.To suppress multipacting(MP),a 10-nm titanium nitride(TiN)coating is applied to the vacuum side of the ceramic window,whereas a DC bias voltage is applied to the inner conductor.To reduce the production cost of the coupler and make it suitable for mass production,various coupler fabrication materials were tested,and the feasibility of the fabrication process was verified.The coupler includes two types of diagnostic ports for vacuum and ARC monitoring.Two prototype couplers were fabricated and tested for high-power conditioning.The QWR couplers proved their robustness with 10 h of 9 kW traveling-wave conditioning and 12 h of 9 kW standing wave conditioning,achieving a stabilized 9 kW power level and a stable vacuum.As predicted,MP barriers were encountered at input powers ranging from 1 kW to 9 kW,and a DC bias voltage of 800 V effectively suppressed the occurrence of MP. 展开更多

Hydraulic-mechanical analysis of induced stress change in unconventional reservoirs using a novel fundamental solution of poromechanics in a half space 认领 引用

The production of fractured unconventional reservoirs induces stress changes,which will affect the productionperformance of neighboring wells.To quantify such effects,the analytical solution is a convenient yet accurate tool.In thiswork,we have developed an analyticalsolution of the transient pressure and stress variation induced by the production of apoint/line/plane source in a semi-infinite poroelastic reservoir with a traction-free surface boundary.We have benchmarked the derived solution with both analytical solution and numerical program.The solution demonstrates excellent accuracy.Moreover,the analytical approach reduces the computational time of numerical approaches from hours to seconds.We then apply the solution to study the surface subsidence control and stress interference between fractured horizontal wells.Results show that the derived solution is capable of quantifying complex hydraulic-mechanical processes during the recovery of shallow water as well asdeep shale reservoirs.Upon investigation,we have found that infill wells can effectively reduce the surface subsidence induced by the production of shallow horizontal wells.Furthermore,shale reservoirs with lower permeability are more sensitive to pressure-stress changes.The range of stress reorientation can also be efficiently quantified by the developed approach.Also,normal stresses and shear stresses behave differently during fracture driven interactions.The above findings potentially benefit the decisionmaking in the asset development.The major novelty of our work lies in the extension of existing approaches that are limited to axisymmetric problems to line and plane sourcesproblems,so that the solution can be used in unconventional reservoirs with fractures. 展开更多

Effects of physical activity interventions on fundamental movement skills and cognitive function in early childhood:A systematic review and network meta-analysis 认领 引用

Background:Health benefits have been reported for many physical activity(PA)interventions for improving fundamental movement skills(FMS)and cognitive function(CF),but the most effective type of PA interventions for emhancing FMS and CF in early childhood remain unknown.Thus,the study aimed to determine the effects of PA interventions in enhancing FMS and CF among young children and to establish the optimal types of PA interventions.Methods:Six electronic databases(PubMed,OVID,SPORTDiscus,Scopus,Web of Science,and Cochrane)were searched for studies from inception to March 17,2024.Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)were included in this study if they reported outcomes related to FMS,CF,or both associated with PA interventions.Effect sizes were calculated and performed as Hedges'g.The hierarchy of competing interventions was established using the surface under the cumulative ranking curve(SUCRA).Risk of bias was independently assessed using the Cochrane Riskof-Bias 2.Results:This analysis included 38 studies with 5237 young children,with sample sizes ranging from 32 to 897 participants.The types of PA interventions analyzed included active play/free play/unstructured PA(AP),general structured PA(GSPA),FMS-targeted PA programs(FMSprograms),cognitively-engaging PA programs(CPA),multilevel PA interventions(MPA),and exergaming.PA interventions had a large,pooled effect size for total FMS(g=0.96;95%CI:0.45-1.46;p<0.01;I2=94%).For CF,a small-to-moderate pooled effect size was found(g=0.39;95%CI:0.18-0.60;p<0.01;I2=88%).PA interventions longer than 3 months showed fewer benefits for FMS(p<0.01).The network meta-analysis showed that FMS-programs(standardized mean difference((SMD)=1.55,95%CI:0.98-2.11,SUCRA=98.3%)and GSPA(SMD=0.94,95%CI:0.05-1.85,SUCRA=69.8%)significantly improved total FMS compared to AP.For locomotor skills(LMS),exergaming ranked highest(SUCRA=79.3%),followed by FMS-programs(75.9%)and GSPA(61.6%).However,despite its top ranking,exergaming's effect estimate was not statistically significant(SMD=1.38,95%CI:-0.08 to 2.85).For object control skills(OCS),exergaming again ranked highest(SUCRA=91.9%)and showed the largest significant effect(SMD=2.38,95%CI:0.96-3.80),followed by FMS-programs(SUCRA=78.5%)and GSPA(SUCRA=53.7%).FMS-programs,GSPA,MPA,and UC also significantly improved OCS compared to AP.While no significant differences were observed across PA interventions for most CF domains,exergaming had a significant positive effect on working memory(SMD=1.41,95%CI:0.07-2.75).The certainty of evidence varied from low to moderate.Conclusion:These findings emphasize the importance of PA interventions in improving FMS and CF in early childhood.FMS-programs and GSPA appear to be the most effective approaches for enhancing total FMS,while exergaming showed the highest ranking for LMS and OCS,with a significant impact on OCS but uncertainty in LMS improvements.Additionally,exergaming had a positive effect on working memory,suggesting its potential cognitive benefits. 展开更多

Sustainable and efficient solutions are essential to address increasingly critical environmental issues,particularly in the field of pollutant removal and resource recovery.The latest research has shown that pulsed electrochemistry significantly contributes to these goals by precisely altering the local reaction environment,accelerating the reaction kinetics and decreasing the overall energy requirements.However,knowledge gaps exist in dynamic evolution mechanism of electric double layer(EDL)in this technology,and challenges remain toward fully implementation of this promising technology.In this review,the fundamentals of pulsed electrochemistry and its connection to the theoretical models of EDL are comprehensively presented.The critical parameters(e.g.,duty ratio,frequency and waveform)for boosting the performance of the system are systematically discussed and the typical electrochemical reactions that occur with pulsed electrochemistry are outlined.The proposed pulsed electrochemistry methodologies tailored for environmental applications are also reviewed in detail.Finally,future opportunities and challenges of this promising but fledgling field are discussed,with the expectation that this technology offers a route to transform conventional chemical industries into cleaner and more sustainable production. 展开更多

Reconstruction of Mathematical Philosophy and Fundamental Axiom System Based on Unified Complex System Theory 认领 引用

The Unified Complex System Theory(UCST)takes the mind-ether dual ontology as its core foundation,constructing a global complex system framework encompassing matter,energy,and information.Based on the dual ontology and hierarchical coupling principle of UCST,this paper breaks the millennia-old dual opposition between the“pure discovery”and“pure invention”of mathematics in traditional philosophical discourse,and puts forward the core proposition that mathematics is the hierarchical isomorphic mapping of the objective structure of the real world by the cognitive subject mind.On this theoretical premise,this paper innovatively establishes the UCST mathematical fundamental axiom system containing six interlocking core axioms,systematically reinterprets key core frontier topics in the foundations of mathematics such as infinite essence classification,intrinsic logic of set theory,physical attribution of continuum,and practical boundary of computability theory,and effectively dissolves the long-standing inherent logical paradoxes and theoretical dilemmas within traditional mathematical philosophy and the classical foundations of mathematics.Meanwhile,taking the self-consistent UCST axiom system as the unified critical normative criterion,this paper systematically sorts out and reveals the universal cognitive deviation arising from the forced arbitrary transition of abstract high-dimensional mathematical formal models to concrete four-dimensional empirical physical reality in the theoretical construction process of modern mainstream physics.It further scientifically clarifies the essential ontological,epistemological,and methodological boundary between instrumental mathematics and empirical physics in the whole scientific research system.This research advocates that academic circles should return mathematics to its original instrumental essence of fitting and describing four-dimensional empirical natural laws,and theoretical physics should firmly adhere to the basic research boundary of observable,verifiable,and falsifiable real spacetime entities.Ultimately,the research realizes the self-consistent unity of the essence connotation of mathematics,the standardized reconstruction of the foundations of mathematics,the ontological logic of complex systems,and the core principles of physical empiricism,providing a novel,rigorous,and operable complex system comprehensive perspective for the innovative development of contemporary philosophy of mathematics and the normative rectification of philosophy of science. 展开更多

This paper presents an OBE(outcome-based education)oriented teaching design reform of the undergraduate course entiled Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence,which is typically offered to students majoring in automation,computer science,electronic engineering,and related interdisciplinary programs.Departing from the traditional textbook-driven,teacher-centered delivery model,the reform is structured around four core OBE links:(i)reverse design of course objectives mapped to graduation requirement indicators;(ii)modular reconstruction of teaching content covering AI foundations,machine learning,natural language processing,computer vision,and AI ethics integrated with contextualized projects;(iii)project-based and inquiry-driven instructional activities;and(iv)diversified formative assessment with a course-objective-assessment mapping matrix.The findings suggest that OBE-based reverse design,modular content organization,and process-oriented assessment effectively promote students’algorithmic comprehension,practical problem-solving ability,and learning engagement in AI foundational education. 展开更多

The incorporation of human rights clauses into the constitution has propelled the innovation of fundamental rights hermeneutics in terms of the subjects of the legal relationships of fundamental rights,the nature of fundamental rights,the forms of state obligations,the scope of fundamental rights,among other aspects.Regarding the subjects of the legal relationships of fundamental rights,human rights clauses have expanded the subjects of fundamental rights from citizens to natural persons.They have also narrowed down the duty-bearing subjects directed by fundamental rights in clauses that do not define duty-bearing subjects from all entities to state public power.Additionally,in fundamental rights clauses that stipulate private entities as duty-bearing subjects,the duty-bearing subjects have been narrowed down from all private entities to social public power entities.In terms of the nature of fundamental rights,human rights clauses have endowed each specific basic right with dual characteristics of the right to respect and the right to protection.Regarding the forms of state obligations,human rights clauses have established the state obligations corresponding to each specific basic right as obligations to respect and to protect.In terms of the scope of fundamental rights,human rights clauses do not have the function of independently justifying unenumerated fundamental rights,but they can assist other clauses in justifying unenumerated fundamental rights,thereby expanding the scope of fundamental rights to a limited extent. 展开更多

A major bottleneck in large-scale eigenfrequency topology optimization is the repeated solution of the generalized eigenvalue problem.This work presents an efficient graphics processing unit(GPU)solver for threedimensional(3D)topology optimization that maximizes the fundamental eigenfrequency.The Successive Iteration of Analysis and Design(SIAD)framework is employed to avoid solving a full eigenproblem at every iteration.The sequential approximation of the eigenpairs is solved by the GPU-accelerated multigrid-preconditioned conjugate gradient(MGPCG)method to efficiently improve the eigenvectors along with the topological evolution.The cluster-mean approach is adopted to address the non-differentiability issue caused by repeated eigenfrequencies.The corresponding sensitivity analysis method is provided.The parallelized gradient-based Zhang-Paulino-Ramos Jr.(ZPR)algorithm is employed to update the design variables.The effectiveness of the proposed solver is demonstrated through two large-scale numerical examples.The first example demonstrates the accuracy,efficiency,and scalability of the proposed solver by solving a 3D optimization problem of 50.33 million elements being solved in approximately 15.2 h over 300 iterations on a single NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPU.The second example validates the effectiveness of the proposed solver in the presence of repeated eigenfrequencies.Our findings also highlight that higher-resolution models produce distinct optimized structures with higher fundamental frequencies,underscoring the necessity of large-scale topology optimization. 展开更多

In 2024,China’s human rights research has assumed a distinct“autonomy-oriented shift,”with scholars beginning to refine and construct uniquely Chinese and locally identifiable human rights concepts,categories,and discourses.Building an independent human rights knowledge system has become a core academic focus in China’s human rights research field.Upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground are the key methodological principles for the process.China’s human rights research should be rooted in the“cultural lineage”by preserving the essence of fine traditional Chinese culture,guided by the“moral lineage”by adhering to the Marxist view on human rights,and anchored in the“Four-sphere Confidence”by upholding a distinct human rights development path,so as to define the historical coordinates and value stance of China’s independent human rights knowledge system.Meanwhile,it should maintain a high degree of openness in knowledge,theory,and methodology to address emerging rights demands and contribute to building a new global human rights governance order,so as to underscore the mission of China’s independent human rights knowledge system in the contemporary era and China’s responsibility as a major global actor.China’s human rights research should uphold the dialectical unity between the fundamental principles and innovations,and advance the systemic and theoretical interpretation of its independent human rights knowledge. 展开更多

Protecting citizens’fundamental rights is one of the basic functions of the system of recording and review,and relevant cases should fully embody this function.However,whether they are recording and review cases concerning fundamental rights or other types of recording and review cases,their argumentative logic is mainly reflected in legislative logic and policy implementation logic,ultimately aiming at the reconstruction of legal norms and featuring the nature of proactive legislation.At the same time,the argumentation of review authorities lacks technicality,with deficiencies in expounding the normative connotations of fundamental rights and social facts,making it impossible to highlight the protection of citizens’fundamental rights in review argumentation.The function of protecting fundamental rights in review argumentation should be reflected in three aspects:the function of transmitting fundamental rights values,the function of providing fundamental rights rules,and the function of taking fundamental rights as a methodology.Centering on these three points,an argumentation model for the recording and review of fundamental rights with human rights protection as the starting point should be constructed. 展开更多

Purpose: To examine the associations among preschoolers fundamental motor skills, screen-time, physical activity(PA), and sedentary behavior(SB).Methods: Children ages 3à4 years were enrolled in a prospective observational trial of PA. Trained assessors conducted the Test of Gross Motor Development-3 rd edition(TGMD-3), and the Movement Assessment Battery for Children-2 nd edition, and parent-reported child screen-time and sociodemographic information. Children wore an accelerometer for 7 days to examine SB and total PA(TPA). TPA was further characterized as moderateto-vigorous PA(MVPA) or vigorous PA(VPA). Mixed linear models were calculated, controlling for age(for TGMD-3), sex, household income, and accelerometer wear time(for accelerometry models), with childcare center as a random effect. The primary analysis reported on the cross-sectional baseline data of 126 children with complete fundamental motor skill and screen-time data; a subanalysis included 88 children with complete accelerometry data.Results: Children were 3.4 § 0.5 years of age(54% girls; 46% white, 42% African American, 12% other). A total of 48% lived in households at or below the federal poverty level. Children engaged in 5.1 § 3.6 h/day of screen-time. Children's screen-time was inversely related to the Movement Assessment Battery for Children-2 nd edition, manual dexterity skills percentile(b(SE) = ?1.7(0.8), p = 0.049). In the accelerometry subsample,children engaged in 5.9 § 0.9 h/day of TPA of which 1.7 § 0.6 h/day was MVPA. Boys engaged in more MVPA and VPA and less SB compared with girls(all p < 0.05). A higher TGMD-3, total score(b(SE) = 0.4(0.2), p = 0.017) and locomotor score(b(SE) = 0.7(0.3), p = 0.018) were associated with more VPA but not with TPA or MVPA. Screen-time and television in the bedroom were not related to SB, TPA, MVPA, or VPA.Conclusion: Children's motor skills were positively related to VPA but inversely related to screen-time. Further inquiry into the implications of high exposure to screen-time in young children is needed. 展开更多
