Strategic emerging industries serve as the core engine driving high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA).Based on panel data of the“9+2”urban agglomeration from 2018 to 2024,this paper constructs an evaluation index system covering four dimensions:industrial scale,innovation capacity,social benefits,and ecological environment.The entropy-weight TOPSIS model,the Theil index,and spatial autocorrelation analysis are adopted to analyze its temporal and spatial evolution characteristics.The study shows that temporally,strategic emerging industries in the GBA maintain a steady upward trend,with Guangzhou and Shenzhen taking the lead and node cities demonstrating strong catch-up momentum.Spatially,obvious differentiation of“strong east,weak west”and“coreperiphery”can be observed,forming a stable dual-core driving pattern.In terms of dynamic evolution,spatial polarization effects gradually weaken,inter-regional imbalance narrows,and coordinated convergence becomes increasingly prominent.Finally,countermeasures such as deepening cross-regional industrial coordination and optimizing factor allocation are proposed. 展开更多

Guigang City of Guangxi,located in the Xunyu Plain,has abundant selenium-enriched soil resources as the core foundation for the development of selenium-enriched industries in the region.However,the coexistence of heavy metals in some of its selenium-enriched soils has become the main bottleneck problem restricting the sustainable and high-quality development of selenium-enriched industries in the region.Based on field sampling data from a 1:50000 soil geochemical survey in the five districts of Guigang City,combined with the results of heavy metal pollution detection in crop samples,the analysis on characteristics of heavy metal content in crops and the industrial impact is carried out,and the situation of heavy metal exceeding the standard in agricultural product samples in the five districts is identified.The multiple threats of heavy metals to the quality and safety of selenium-enriched agricultural products,industrial brand image,market competitiveness,and sustainable utilization of selenium-enriched soil resources are revealed.A comprehensive prevention and control system needs to be constructed from the dimensions of source prevention and control,soil remediation,variety screening,and standard control,to ensure the green,safe,and high-quality development of selenium-enriched industry. 展开更多

Waste management strategies employed by emerging economies worldwide are often insufficient to address the new-age sustainability challenges.Especially in chemicalintensive manufacturing industries,increasing levels of waste production are a significant environmental threat.Adopting a circular supply chain(CSC)can be a viable solution to this problem since it incorporates the components of the circular economy into an organization's supply chain,bringing an engaging viewpoint to the supply chain sustainability field.Nevertheless,the adoption of CSC in chemical-intensive manufacturing industries faces various intricate challenges in emerging economies.This study,therefore,aims to explore and evaluate the challenges associated with adopting CSC in the chemical-intensive manufacturing industries,using the empirical case of an emerging economy,Bangladesh.After a thorough literature review and expert validation,26 challenges were analyzed using a probabilistic group decision-making approach,i.e.,the Bayesian best-worst method(BWM).The result showed that the most significant challenge is the chemical composition-related complexity(global weight=0.0801),followed by strong emphasis on the take-make-dispose policy(0.0705),and insufficient investment and financial resources(0.0697).On the contrary,the least important challenge is the resistance toward the transition from conventional supply chain to CSC(0.0078).The outcomes of this study are expected to enrich existing knowledge and comprehension of the challenges linked to implementing CSC practices in Bangladesh and contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs),such as SDG 3(good health and wellbeing),SDG 11(sustainable cities and communities),SDG 12(responsible consumption and production),SDG 13(climate action),and so on. 展开更多

This paper falls into the broad area of economic geography and economics of creativity,and it presents an alternative approach to explain why total factor productivity(TFP)growth is different across China′s regions.It establishes an empirical model to estimate the spatial agglomeration effects of creative industries on regional TFP growth,using China′s provincial panel data during the period of 2003 to 2010.We found that the creative industries agglomeration(CIA)has significant and positive impact on regional TFP growth.The result also implies that the CIA can facilitate regional TFP growth through promoting regional innovation instead of improving regional efficiency.Therefore,we argue that policy makers should take some measures to retain and establish more creative zones. 展开更多

The rise of creative industries in this century has aroused strong interest in the concept“cultural capital”in academia.Cultural capital can be understood as various forms of cultural resources that achieve significant appreciation in existing economic,political,and cultural structures through active and rapid reproduction,thereby influencing changes in existing economic,political,and cultural structures,including production relations with capitalist characteristics.The capitalization of culture negates the original ecological value of culture,denies human needs for culture,undermines the true value of cultural exchange and creation,and can easily lead to the formation of cultural hegemony.However,the process of cultural capitalization and the changes in cultural values within it indicate that the capitalization of culture is to some extent an inevitable historical development.The new cultural capital has demonstrated tremendous power in promoting the development of contemporary creative industries and producing cultural masterpieces.Of course,this first requires it to refuse to become a tool for economic capital and digital technology. 展开更多

Under national strategies promoting cultural development and the digital economy,Dalian’s cultural and creative industries have rapidly expanded,leading to rising demand for interdisciplinary talents with cultural and technical competencies.Yet current university programs remain insufficient in curriculum structure,interdisciplinary training,and industry-education linkage.Based on literature review,industry data,job posting analysis,and case comparison,this study examines industry development,talent needs,and university discipline configuration.Results show strong demand for interdisciplinary,technology-oriented,and innovation-driven competencies,while universities still lack integrated curricula,practical training,and regional collaboration.Accordingly,this paper proposes a pathway of“major clusters-interdisciplinary curricula-project-based training-ecosystem platforms”to build a talent cultivation system aligned with regional needs,providing guidance for local reform and reference for similar cities. 展开更多

Traditional demand response(DR)programs for energy-intensive industries(EIIs)primarily rely on electricity price signals and often overlook carbon emission factors,limiting their effectiveness in supporting lowcarbon transitions.To address this challenge,this paper proposes an electricity–carbon integratedDR strategy based on a bi-level collaborative optimization framework that coordinates the interaction between the grid and EIIs.At the upper level,the grid operatorminimizes generation and curtailment costs by optimizing unit commitment while determining real-time electricity prices and dynamic carbon emission factors.At the lower level,EIIs respond to these dual signals by minimizing their combined electricity and carbon trading costs,considering their participation in medium-and long-term electricity markets,day-ahead spot markets,and carbon emissions trading schemes.The model accounts for direct and indirect carbon emissions,distributed photovoltaic(PV)generation,and battery energy storage systems.This interaction is structured as a Stackelberg game,where the grid acts as the leader and EIIs as followers,enabling dynamic feedback between pricing signals and load response.Simulation studies on an improved IEEE 30-bus system,with a cement plant as a representative user form EIIs,show that the proposed strategy reduces user-side carbon emissions by 7.95% and grid-side generation cost by 4.66%,though the user’s energy cost increases by 7.80% due to carbon trading.Theresults confirmthat the joint guidance of electricity and carbon prices effectively reshapes user load profiles,encourages peak shaving,and improves PV utilization.This coordinated approach not only achieves emission reduction and cost efficiency but also offers a theoretical and practical foundation for integrating carbon pricing into demand-side energy management in future low-carbon power systems. 展开更多
