Over the past decades, many landscape metrics have been proposed but few directly incorporated ecological processes. In this paper, we developed a landscape index, namely, location-weighted landscape index (LWLI) to highlight the role of landscape type in ecological processes, such as nutrient losses and soil erosion. Within the framework of the Lorenz curve theory, we develop this index by integrating land- scape pattern and point-based measurements at a watershed scale. The index can be used to characterize the contribution of landscape pattern to ecological processes (e.g. nutrient losses) with respect to a specific monitoring point in a watershed. Through a case study on nutrient losses in an agricultural area in northeastern China, we found that nutrient losses tended to be higher for a watershed with a higher LWLI value, and vice versa. It implied that LWLI can be used to evaluate the potential risk of nutrient losses or soil erosion by comparing their values across watersheds. In addition, this index can be extended to characterize ecological processes, such as the effect of landscape pattern on wildlife inhabitation and urban heat island effect. Finally, we discuss several problems that should be paid attention to when applying this index to a heterogeneous landscape site.展开更多

The integral spatial distribution trend of landscape elements is interested point in the landscape ecological research, especially in those of complex secondary forest regions with confusing mosaics of land cover. Trend surface analysis which used in community and population ecological researches was introduced to reveal the landscape pattern. A reasonable and reliable approach for application of trend surface analysis was provided in detail. As key steps of the approach, uniform grid point sampling method was developed. The efforts were also concentrated at an example of Guandishan forested landscape. Some basic rules of spatial distribution of landscape elements were exclaimed. These will be benefit to the further study in the area to enhance the forest sustainable management and landscape planning.展开更多

Results show that the total area of the wetland reduces dramatically compared to 1987, the total area of wetland reduces by 19.18%, the number of the patches in 2002 increases by 21.17%, the density increases by 50%, and the total perimeter increases by 1,290,491 m. Disturbed by human activities, landscape diversity index decreases from 1.1740 in 1987 to 0.9803 in 2002. During the last 20 years, the total area of the rice wetland increases, while the others decrease. Among those, the area of the bulrush wetland decreases most. In 1987, it takes 0.5% of the total area, but in 2002, it only takes 0.11%. The interpenetration of human influences on the wetland natural system has been long and close. The impacts of human activities on the spatial pattern of the wetland landscape along the Yellow River in Henan from 1987 to 2002 are great.展开更多

In this paper we used the data of 144 plots and semivariogram to analyze spatial heterogeneity of old growth forests of Korean pine in landscape level. Model for forest variations by isotropic semivariogram is linear with sill. The spatial heterogeneity is dependent on scales and dircctions in Korean pine forests. Therefore, the change of agricultural landscape along the riparian zones is at the top of the agenda for many policy makers and landscape planners. As a basis for conservation management, sufficient information about landscape structure should be provided. In the present study, we reconstructed the former landscape structure and elucidated the changes in landscape patterns during a period of about 15 years. Two sets of maps were used: a landsat-5 TM image (1987) and landsat-7 ETM image (2002). The frequency index, landscape diversity index and landscape fragmentation index were calculated for analyses. The results showed that: (1) the areas of the irrigated land, river, forest and beach landscape classes presented a decreasing trend while the areas of landscape classes of pool, paddy fields, dry land and construction land increased. (2) Disturbed by human activity, landscape diversity index increased but landscape fragmentation index decreased. In short, Human activities have had important influences on agricultural landscape of the riparian zones along the Yellow River in Henan Province.展开更多

Using models of landscape indices such as diversity, fragmentation, and mean patch fractal dimension, dynamic spatio-temporal changes of landscape patterns of the province were analyzed. The results: ① cropland and forestland were the main landscape types, and forestland became a landscape matrix; ② in the study area, landscapes were distributed unevenly, and there was low heterogeneity, a simple ecosystem structure and a tendency of irrational landscape patterns. There were also simple spatial shapes of patches and strong self-similarities, and in terms of dynamic change analysis, patch shapes tended to be more simple; ③ from 1980 to 2000, holistic landscape fragmentation was low and changed slightly. As far as landscape elements were concerned, the fragmentation of grassland, water area, land for residential area and factory facilities was relatively low; land distribution for residential areas and factory facilities was dispersed; and cropland and forestland were most concentrated-an indication that the trend will continue. Comprehensive effects among human activity, local policy, regional climate and environmental change led to the results.展开更多

摘要The rapid urbanization has significantly accelerated the expansion of cities and led to a notable increase in urban land surface temperature(LST).Currently, most studies mainly examine the effects of two-dimensional(2D)landscape patterns on LST variations, and research investigating the relationship between three-dimensional(3D)urban landscape patterns and LST remains relatively scarce. Therefore, this study utilizes partial correlation analysis and piecewise linear regression to systematically investigate the impacts of gray landscape indicators on LST variations under both 2D and 3D urban patterns, aiming to elucidate the complex relationship between 3D urban landscape patterns and LST dynamics. The results demonstrate that specific 3D building characteristics, particularly the area of low-rise buildings, building aggregation degree, shape complexity, and patch density of mid-rise buildings, serve as effective indicators of urban thermal environment risk. The analysis reveals that increased area-related indicators for low-rise buildings significantly exacerbate the LST rise, whereas modifications to the landscape shape of middle and high-rise buildings contribute to thermal mitigation.Additionally, when gray landscape aggregation exceeds 80%,the spatial concentration of mid-rise buildings exhibits a pronounced positive effect on moderating urban LST.These findings elucidate the mechanisms through which 3D landscape patterns influence urban thermal risks in Beijing, advancing the understanding of urban landscape-ecological processes interactions and providing crucial scientific support for landscape optimization and urban thermal environment risk mitigation strategies.

摘要Urban forests are essential components of green infrastructure, however, rapid urbanization-induced changes in landscape patterns may affect their ecosystem services through complex ecological processes.A total of 184 sample plots in the built-up areas of Nanchang,China, were used as research sites.Urbanization intensities were categorized by the rate of impervious surface area, and forest types were classified into landscape and relaxation forest, attached forest(AF),road forest(RF),and ecological public welfare forest. This study aimed to explore the spatial variations in vegetation characteristics and landscape pattern indices of different forest types under rapid urbanization. The results indicated that the largest patch index(LPI),aggregation index(AI),and percentage of landscape(PLAND)in RF and AF were lower than those in the other forest types(p<0.05).With increasing urbanization intensity, the mean perimeter-area ratio increased by 130.84%,whereas the PLAND,LPI,and AI decreased by 22−86%(p<0.05).Redundancy analysis and variation partitioning suggested that the interpretation rate of landscape pattern indices for variations in vegetation characteristics increased from low to heavy urbanization areas.Especially, the landscape shape index, patch connection index,PLAND,and mean patch size were significantly correlated with vegetation characteristics(e.g.,tree richness, herb coverage, and tree height). In the future, appropriate landscape layout superiority cases should be considered in different urbanization areas and forest types;for instance, increasing the patch connection index will beneficially improve the diversity of trees and herbs in heavy urbanization areas and the RF.This study serves as a reference for maximizing the ecosystem services of urban forests.

摘要Accelerated global climate change and intensified human activities profoundly alter landscape patterns and ecosystem services(ESs),making the quantitative evaluation of their dynamic interactions essential for advancing regional sustainable development. This study focused on Qilian Mountain National Park and employed FRAGSTATS 4.2 to analyze the landscape pattern evolution from 2000 to 2020.The Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST)model was used to assess five key ESs:water yield(WY),carbon storage(CS),water quality purification(ND),soil retention(SR),and habitat quality(HQ).Ecosystem service bundles(ESBs)were identified using a self-organizing map(SOM)approach, and nonlinear relationships between landscape pattern indices and ESs were examined using the Boosted Regression Tree(BRT)model combined with spearman correlation and clustered heatmap analyses. The results indicated that the landscape pattern of Qilian Mountain National Park exhibits a clear east to west gradient. The spatiotemporal dynamics of ESs showed divergent trends, with CS and ND consistently improving, whereas WY exhibited pronounced nonlinear fluctuations.ESBs were classified into four types:ESB I(ecosystem transition bundle),ESB II(ecosystem regulation and protection bundle),ESB III(ecosystem degradation and protection bundle),and ESB IV(ecosystem restoration bundle),reflecting a shift from single function dominance toward multifunctional synergies.A nonlinear coupling relationship existed between landscape pattern indices and total ecosystem services(TES),characterized by a notable decline in TES and continued degradation of ES performance and stability.Together, this study provides a robust scientific foundation for developing differentiated zoning management strategies. The findings deliver valuable scientific insights for the management of ESs in the Qilian Mountain National Park and similar mountain ecosystems, while offering a reference for promoting sustainable development in fragile ecological regions worldwide.

摘要The‘human-land relationship’has long been a central topic in geography, ecology, and social sciences. And dynamic monit-oring of the land use/cover change(LUCC)and landscape pattern studies of land use provide essential theoretical support for this field. On the basis of physicogeographical regionalization and landscape ecology theory, this study proposed a method for characterizing land-scape pattern by using the minmium natural complex as the basic evaluation unit, constructing a four-level classification framework that included natural area, landscape region, landscape subregion, and landscape group. The method was tested in the Songhua River Basin,China, and the results revealed that:(1)the landscape pattern characterization in the Songhua River Basin validated the feasibility of the proposed method, and the use of the minimum natural complex as the basic measurement unit for landscape pattern characterization be-nefited research in this field.(2)The multiscale landscape pattern characterization system, which was framed around natural area,land-scape region, landscape subregion, and landscape group, accurately reflected the spatial heterogeneity of the physical geographic envir-onment and the impact of human activities on the landscape pattern in the Songhua River Basin. The nature-dominated landscape region was mainly concentrated in high-altitude mountainous and hilly areas, the human-dominated landscape region was located on plains and platforms, and the human-land interaction landscape region exhibited a landscape pattern that is closely related to natural factors such as temperature, precipitation, and soil.(3)The proposed method not only revealed the complex interactions between the physical geograph-ic environment and human activities but also provided scientific support for land use planning and ecological environment management.Future research should incorporate higher-resolution data and socioeconomic factors to further explore the dynamic changes in land-scape patterns and their impacts on the regional ecological environment.

摘要Urban Heat Island(UHI)effect is a critical environmental issue that holds back the sustainable development and human's welfare of cities worldwide. The nature-based solution is considered an effective way to mitigate UHI effects. However, the temporal variations of influences exposed from urban landscape and the interactions of landscape elements as the urbanization accelerates, still haven't been clearly uncovered. This study quantified the influencing evolution of key landscape elements and their interactions on Land Surface Temperature(LST)in Nanchang City from 2000 to 2020.The results revealed that greenspace coverage was found to be the most contributive landscape metric for reducing LST,followed by water surface coverage during the earlier years of 2000 to 2010but impervious surfaces showed the growing significance throughout the latter study period of 2010 to 2020.The contributive effects of greenspace to LST approximately 2–3 times greater than water and impervious surface. The contributive effects exposed from the interactions among landscape elements shifted with times and urbanizing phases. The interactions between green space and water surface generally resulted in a significantly increased explanatory power for LST,but the interactions of green space and impervious surfaces showed a significant reduction in their combined contribution to mitigate LST.This study underscores the urgent need for holistic and adaptive urban planning and management that considers the complex interplay between landscape elements in counteract rising UHI effect.

摘要Understanding the relationship between landscape pattems and ecological processes has been a central yet challenging research theme in landscape ecology. Finally, we discuss several problems that should be paid attention to when applying this index to a heterogeneous landscape site.

摘要The landscape pattern of Beijing wetlands has undergone a significant change as a result of natural and artificial elements.Supported by remote sensing and GIS technology, using multi-temporal TM images from 1984 to 2008 in Beijing, this paper analyzed the dynamic characteristics of wetlands landscape pattern through selected typical indices including patch area, patch average area, fractal dimension index, diversity, dominance, contagion indices and the spatial centroids of each wetlands type were calculated. Finally, the paper explored the evolution mode and driving factors of wetland landscape pattern. The results were obtained as follows:the total wetland area increased during the period 1984-1996,then decline from 1996 to 2004.The wetland area in 1994 accounted for only 47.37%of that in 2004.The proportion of artificial wetland area was larger than that of natural wetland. The proportion of reservoir wetland was 33.50%to 53.73%and had the maximum average area.pond and paddy field wetland type with the least average area accounted for 16.46%to 45.09%of the total wetland area. The driving forces of the natural river wetland were mainly natural elements;its fractal dimension index was greater than the others. The Shannon diversity index of wetland landscape increased from 1.11 in 1992 to 1.34 in 2004,indicating that the difference between proportions of each wetland type decreased and areas of each wetland type were evenly distributed. The contagion index went down from 65.59 to 58.41,indicating that the connectivity degraded.Miyun Reservoir had the largest area and its area change had a great impact on the location of the centroid.Wetland resources degenerated gradually from the joint effects of natural and artificial factors.During the period 2006-2008,the precipitation increased and the drought condition was relieved. The government implemented series of positive policies to save water resources, and the wetland area increased.

摘要Analyzing the agricultural landscape patterns in mountainous areas is critical to clarify the dynamic changes and development direction of agricultural landscapes. This also plays a significant role in the rational planning and management of agricultural land.A theoretical framework for agricultural landscape pattern transitions in mountainous areas is proposed to fill the gap of current research with an empirical study in the Caotangxi Watershed,Three Gorges Reservoir Area(TGRA),China. The transition characteristics of agricultural landscape patterns from 2000 to 2018 as represented by sloping farmland, abandoned land, and orchards are analyzed from a holistic-local perspective. The results indicate that the orchards expanded along river valleys, and abandoned land expanded at high elevations, which led to reduced sloping farmland. This phenomenon gives regional landscape differences at the holistic and local levels.Namely,it enhances the region’s holistic landscape diversity but causes fragmentation and aggregation of landscape patches in local areas. The agricultural landscape pattern transitions within the farming range in the study area are manifested primarily in four modes:sloping farmland-orchard conversion type(FOCT),comprehensive conversion type(CCT),partially abandoned type(PAT),and wholly abandoned type(WAT).Each transition mode reveals different development stages of the mountainous agricultural landscape patterns. In general, the agricultural landscape pattern transition is driven by socioeconomic factors in mountainous areas of the TGRA and is bidirectional. This attribute is expressed as the transition from the traditional grain-planting landscape with an even distribution to the eco-economic win-win orchard in valleys and transitions from sloping farmland to abandoned land in high-elevation areas.Overall, the results of this study reveal the uniqueness of agricultural landscape pattern evolutions in China’s mountainous areas in recent decades, which has enlightened the in-depth understandings of rural land use and agricultural ecosystems in mountainous areas of the TGRA,as well as improvements in rural developments and ecological environments.

摘要The responses of spatiotemporal variation of ecosystem service values (ESVs) to landscape pattern from 1985 to 2005 in a typical Karst area of the northwest Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,China, were examined us-ing remote sensing and geographic information system techniques in this paper. The total ecosystem service values de-clined significantly from 1985 to 1990,and then increased slowly from 1990 to 2005,almost equaled to the 1985 level. The ecosystem service values tended to decline from the west to the east and from mountainous regions to peak-cluster depression areas in 1985,1990,2000 and 2005 respectively.During the period from 1985 to 2005,the ecosystem ser-vice values have increased in the middle and eastern parts of the study area.Landscape pattern indices, such as total area, largest patch index, contagion, aggregative index, effective mesh and proportion of like adjacencies, are significantly correlated with ecosystem service values. This suggests that ecosystem service values tend to increase with the growth of patch area and patch connectivity. However, there are negative correlations between ecosystem service values and landscape pattern indices, such as division index and patch richness. It indicates that ecosystem service values decrease with patch fragmentation and patch size shrinkage. The ecosystem conditions in the typical Karst area have been improved because of the control measures of rocky desertification. It is important to protect key landscape types, such as woodland, shrub and grassland, and to increase patch size and connectivity to avoid further fragmentation.Furthermore,it is necessary to reduce disturbances to ensure the growth of ecosystem service values and to facilitate the sustainable development in this region.

摘要The relationship between landscape patterns and soil conservation,as well as the need for nature-based soil erosion control and landscape pattern optimization, have increasingly gained attention in the scientific and political community in the past decade. With the implementation of a series of afforestationeforestation projects in the western China, the optimization and management of forest landscape patterns will become more important for soil conservation. In this study, the Bailongjiang Watershed(BLJW),in the western China, was used as a case study to explore the relationship between the forest landscape pattern and soil conservation services using mathematical and spatial statistics methods.A spatially-explicit model called the sediment delivery ratio(SDR)model of the Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST)was used to assess the soil conservation service in each sub-basin of BLJW in 1990,2002,and 2014,and landscape indices were used to describe changes in forest landscape patterns in each sub-basin.Nine forest landscape indices, including the percentage of landscape(PLAND),largest patch index(LPI),edge density(ED),landscape shape index(LSI),mean patch shape(SHAPEMN),patch cohesion index(COHESION),landscape division index(DIVISION),splitting index(SPLIT)and aggregation index(AI),were significantly correlated to the soil conservation service.PLAND,AI,LSI and SPLIT of forestland were determined to be the more important landscape indicators. The results also indicated that soil conservation was substantially scale-dependent.The results demonstrated that landscape type diversity greatly affected watershed soil conservation and can be used for forest landscape restoration and management.Furthermore, spatial statistics analysis indicated that the Spatial Lag Model(SLM)was superior to the Ordinary Least Squares(OLS)for soil conservation regressions in 1990 and 2014,while OLS was more appropriate for the regression in 2002.These findings will be useful for enhancing soil conservation and for optimizing mountainous forest landscape patterns for afforestationeforestation and regional development.Future planning and implementation of ecological restoration should focus more on strategic spatial planning and integrated landscape management with full consideration of future climate, water availability/consumption,hydrological regime, topography, and watershed features, especially on afforestation and revegetation projects in western mountainous China, where the socio-ecological system is fragile and poor.

摘要Supported by the technologies of remote sensing(RS) and geographical informa-tion system(GIS),we chose northwest of Beijing as a study area and gave priority to under-standing of the spatial-temporal characteristics of landscape pattern change through visually interpreted Landsat TM images of 1989,1996 and 2005.It is believed that there were a series of landscape ecological problems caused by city expansion:landscape ecological connec-tivity was low;landscape structure was simplified;the fragmentation of green land patch was more obvious on the plain areas, moreover, spatial distribution of green land was unbalanced. For this reason, this study adopted accumulative cost distance model, combined with eco-system services and spatial interactions of landscape types, analyzed the spatial difference of the ecological function and the compactness of landscape structure in the study area, and further discussed the landscape pattern optimization proposal. We find that it is essential to protect and establish ecological sources,to establish urban ecological corridors, and to es-tablish ecological nodes at the landscape ecological strategic positions so as to intensify spatial relationships among landscape elements and maintain continuity of landscape eco-logical process and pattern in the course of city expansion. The methods and final results from this study are expected to be useful for landscape ecological planning in Beijing region.

摘要Zoige Plateau wetlands are located in the northeastern corner of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The landscape pattern evolution processes in the Zoige Plateau and their driving factors were identified by analyzing the dynamic changes in landscape modification and conversion and their dynamic rates of alpine wetlands over the past four decades. The results showed that the landscape conversion between wetlands and non-wetlands mainly occurred during the period from 1966 to 1986.The marsh wetland area converted from lake and river wetlands was larger because of swamping compared to other wetland landscapes.Meanwhile, the larger area of marsh wetlands was also converted to lake wetlands more than other types of wetlands. The modification processes mainly occurred among natural wetland landscapes in the first three periods.Obvious conversions were observed between wetland and nonwetland landscapes(i.e.,forestland,grassland,and other landscapes) in the Zoige Plateau. These natural wetland landscapes such as river, lake and marsh wetlands showed a net loss over the past four decades, whereas artificial wetland landscapes(i.e.,paddy field and reservoir and pond wetlands) showed a net decrease. The annual dynamic rate of the whole wetland landscape was 0.72%,in which the annual dynamic rate of river wetlands was the highest, followed by lake wetlands, while marsh wetlands had the lowest dynamic rate. The integrated landscape dynamic rate showed a decreasing trend in the first three periods. The changes in wetland landscape patterns were comprehensively controlled by natural factors and human activities, especially human activities play an important role in changing wetland landscape patterns.

摘要Mountain area is an important geographical unit of land, and its ecology is sensitive and fragile.Over the past few decades, human activities have caused dramatic changes in land use in mountainous areas, which caused changes in landscape patterns and impacts on the ecological environment. It is unknown how the mechanism of land use affects the landscape pattern at different scales. The Hantai District,a typical human settlement in the mountain area in Shaanxi,China, was chosen as the study area.Based on the remote sensing images, the mathematical models and landscape indexes were adopted to evaluate the impact of land use change from 1998 to 2017 on the landscape pattern at different scales, and its main driving forces were analyzed. The results showed that the urbanized land expanded largest from 15.39%to 24.30%,and cultivated land experienced the largest decline from 43.54%to 35.35%.Changes in land use have made the patch morphology of most land types developed from a natural random to a sawtooth shape, and its spatial pattern evolved from a ruleset to a fragmented expansion. This reflects the continuous strengthening of human intervention in the process of regional development.Under the jurisdiction of Hantai District, the biggest change in landscape pattern is in Hanzhong City and Qili Town. The improved economy and increasing population and urbanization rate were the main factors that cause these changes. This research could provide necessary information for understanding the evolution mechanism of land resources in mountainous human settlements for mountainous areas with significant geomorphic differentiation.

摘要The paper makes detailed analysis on the changing processes of the main types of land use in Three Gorges Reservoir Area through the techniques of RS(Remote Sense)and GIS(Geography Information System).Based on the theory of landscape ecology, many types of landscape pattern indexes are calculated and made correlation analysis. The results indicate that:in 1995 the ecological environment of Three Gorges Reservoir Area was the most vulnerable in the recent 50 years, but resumed in 2002;the landscape pattern diversity index, fractal dimension index and fragmentation index has close correlation with the area of land use/cover change(LUCC).The research also releases that the increase of the cultivated land, grassland and construction land deteriorates the landscape ecological pattern, while the increase of forest land area will help restore the landscape ecological pattern to its original state. The rapid change of grassland is an important index of the change of landscape pattern, because it has the most effect on change of landscape pattern index.
摘要Landscape pattern is a widely used concept for the demonstration of landscape characteristic features. These will be benefit to the further study in the area to enhance the forest sustainable management and landscape planning.

摘要By using GIS and remote sensing techniques, the paper discusses how human activities have changed along the Yellow River in Henan province, China and how these altered activities have influenced the wetland landscape pattern change from 1987 to 2002. The impacts of human activities on the spatial pattern of the wetland landscape along the Yellow River in Henan from 1987 to 2002 are great.
摘要The study area was located in Liangshui Natural Reserve. Xaoxing'an Mountains. Northeastern China. Korean pine forests are the typical forest ecosystems and landscapcs in this region. It is a high degrees of spatial and temporal hetcrogeneity at different scales, which effected on landscape pattern and processes. Patterns of forest types in space were resulted from complex interactions between physical and biological forces. We uscd 20 metres for interpolation interval to cstimate the values of unsampled area. Comparing the results with field data, block kriging and mapping are an cffective techniques to simulate landscape pattern.

摘要Agricultural landscape along the riparian zones is designated as important landscape components for partly controlling water quality, biodiversity, as well as for their aesthetic role in landscapes. In short, Human activities have had important influences on agricultural landscape of the riparian zones along the Yellow River in Henan Province.

摘要Yanchi County is located in the agro-pastoral ecotone and belongs to the ecologically fragile area of Northwest China. It is important to study the evolution of landscape pattern to curb its environmental degradation. In order to intuitively show how the landscape pattern of the study area changes over time,Landsat Thematic Mappers(TM)and Landsat Operational Land Imager(OLI)data of 1991,2000,2010 and 2017 were used. This paper attempts to apply niche theories and methods into landscape ecology, and constructs a niche model of landscape components by using"n-dimentional hypervolume niche theory"and landscape pattern indices.By evaluating the spatial and temporal evolution of niche from the perspective of two-dimensional space to reflect the changes of landscape pattern in the study area over the past 26 years, new theories and methods were introduced for the characterization of landscape pattern. The results indicate that:1)The larger the attribute and dominance value of landscape components, the higher the ecological niche and the stronger the control effect on the overall landscape.2)The ecological niche of each landscape component was significantly different, just as its control effect on the overall landscape.3)The dynamic change of the ecological niche of each landscape component was different, with grassland, unused land and arable land always in a high dominant position, although the ecological niche of construction land and water area was always low.In general, the introduction of niche theory into the landscape ecology provided a new method to study the changes in regional landscape pattern.

摘要By using remote sensing images from three periods (1980, 1995, 2000) and with the support of GIS and RS, the spatial information of landscape elements of Jilin Province from 1980 to 2000 was interpreted and extracted. Comprehensive effects among human activity, local policy, regional climate and environmental change led to the results.
