The school center community has the initiative of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the involvement of children is paramount. Children and young people are the active contributors to their well-being and development. Children have their own experiences and live in school contexts;they should be seen as agents of change, who analyze and take initiatives that provide a friendly school. School as a community center is a commitment to detaching school from its formal aspect. Run away from formalization implies opening the school to other social groups and a new form of cooperation with the community and specifically with parents. The essence of this structure is for the community to be closer to the school. This study aims to understand whether this partnership affects the development and education of students and young people. This study is focused on observing a middle school in the city of Durres that follows this school model and browsing different literature. The findings of this study relate to the fact that the school sees what the most important needs of the students are and prepare a work plan for school students as well as children from the community (the case of learning foreign language English, etc.). This study comes with the next recommendations for schools as a community.展开更多

Data collection was done through questionnaire and participants were randomly selected. This was a cross-sectional study carried out for a period of three months in 2012. A questionnaire was used to collect data and using onsite observations the responses were validated. A total of 260 participants from 65 homesteads were included in the study from 52 households. 144 were females and 116 males, of which 52.4% of the children were female and the rest male. The mean ± SEM age of females and males was 36 ± 8.6 and 29 ± 8.6 years respectively. In all the homesteads, 71% were headed by an adult male and only 29% were found to be headed by an adult female while none was headed by children. Inferential analysis showed (P = 0.02) that there are more females than male in the homesteads. Majority of the homesteads are being taken care of by women instead of men probably as a result of the high mortalities due to HIV/AIDS in the past decade and above all the movement of most men to urban centers in search of better sources of employment to support their families. Among school going age participant’s i.e. children and adolescents, only 59.6% were found to be attending school. There was no statistical significance (P = 0.16) between school attendance and age. Family responsibilities such as cooking for younger siblings by female participants, obligations on open market days are thought to be secondary limiting factors for community development and livelihood amongst young persons;thus a follow up study would be conducted to assess their associations in this community as this would raise major child abuse concerns which would need to be reported to the legal authorities for follow up.展开更多

The study was informed by ecological and naturalistic paradigms, and above all by the values of participatory action research (PAR). It examined the possibility that the difficult relationship between school and community may be viewed as an opportunity. The outcomes indicate that focusing on school-community relations can offer benefits on two conditions: 1. That this focus is taken as a starting point for rethinking the school's identity; and 2. That keywords are identified as a basis for understanding the school-community relationship in the current social context and for guiding appropriate action. We identified three types of action that may usefully be undertaken: introducing new forms of documenting school experience, involving the students' parents and the broader community in school projects, and using the outcomes of such projects to redefine school programs. A key recommendation for the future is to conduct further participatory research with students, their families, or other stakeholders, and to revisit the school curriculum in the light of the findings.展开更多

It highlights that school teachers need to acknowledge students' preferred learning methods, especially those of minority backgrounds like the Samoan participants in this investigation. A detailed exploration of the experiences of students in two HSGs finds that while students and their families place a high priority on learning, their cultural practices are not compatible with standard Western learning approaches. The HSGs provided a social space in which students could ask the teacher questions without fear of appearing foolish, in which they could apply themselves to study. It provided a physical study space away from the demands some Samoan families place on their young people, and it provided a cultural space in which the students could learn according to fa'aSamoa (traditional values and beliefs). This research makes a contribution to an understanding of the motivations of Melbourne-based Samoan students to learn, of what concerns them, and of impediments to their educational success. It also offers insight into the benefits that set up a specific space for students offers, when its specific intent is influencing the merging of Samoan and Western ideas to further learning.展开更多

摘要The aim of this study was to identify the major challenges to community education and any health problem in Bushenyi district of South Western Uganda. Family responsibilities such as cooking for younger siblings by female participants, obligations on open market days are thought to be secondary limiting factors for community development and livelihood amongst young persons;thus a follow up study would be conducted to assess their associations in this community as this would raise major child abuse concerns which would need to be reported to the legal authorities for follow up.
摘要This paper presents an action research conducted with teachers at an "istitutocomprensivo" (jointly managed preschool, primary and lower secondary school) in Bergamo (Northern Italy). A key recommendation for the future is to conduct further participatory research with students, their families, or other stakeholders, and to revisit the school curriculum in the light of the findings.
摘要This research examines Samoan student experiences in two Homework Study Groups (HSGs) in Melbourne using a researcher-practitioner approach. It also offers insight into the benefits that set up a specific space for students offers, when its specific intent is influencing the merging of Samoan and Western ideas to further learning.

摘要Objectives This study aimed to examine the role of the hidden curriculum in transmitting the educational mission and its impacts on nursing students’professional socialization. Methods This constructivist grounded theory study involved twenty-six students and five faculty members from a century-old nursing school in Macao.Semi-structured interviews examined the factors influencing nursing students’choice of a specific nursing school and their general learning experiences in nursing studies.Open and focused coding was employed to develop categories and concepts that capture the nuances of how the hidden curriculum influences students’personal experiences, perceptions, and values related to developing their professional identities. The data analysis was guided by the“Community of Practice”model. Results The educational mission fostered a hidden curriculum that emphasized nurturing qualities and social responsibilities, creating a family-like learning environment that positively influenced the professional socialization of nursing students.Under the core theme of“becoming a family,”two sub-themes emerged:“student-peer interactions-fostering sisterly/brotherly learning partnerships”and“student-faculty interactions–faculty’s acting as parenting instructors.”While the hidden curriculum promoted a democratic and egalitarian learning atmosphere among student-peers,it simultaneously reinforced hierarchical power dynamics among senior-junior students and student-faculty relationships, mirroring the power-based interpersonal dynamics often found in traditional Chinese families. Conclusions Explicating the educational mission can help shape a hidden curriculum that benefits nursing students’professional socialization.Faculty members should reflect on the power inequalities reproduced by the hidden curriculum and establish appropriate boundaries in student-faculty relationships.
摘要The accelerating urbanization has exacerbated mental health challenges faced across social groups.College students,as an important group in the society, often experience multiple pressures from academic demands, familial responsibilities, and career uncertainties, making their emotional states especially susceptible to environmental influences. This study investigated and sampled the colored-leaves plant communities in urban parks of Suzhou, selected red-green palette,yellow-green palette, and single green plant communities with varied color proportions, and combined psychological indicators(PANAS scale)and physiological indicators(EEG data)to scientifically examine the differences in the influence on college students’emotional restoration. The results included:1)all plant communities significantly increased respondents’positive emotions and reduced negative emotions;2)in the comparative experiment of red-green plant communities, single green plant communities had the best effect on emotional restoration;3)in the comparative experiment of yellow-green plant communities, those with yellow color proportion of 75%~90%and 45%~60%had the best emotional restoration effect;and 4)when comparing the plant communities with the same red and yellow color proportion, the yellow-green plant community performed better than the red-green plant community. This study responds to the urgent need to pay attention to the mental health of the youth in the current urbanization process by exploring the differences of emotional restoration effects of colored-leaves plant communities. It aims to provide scientific vegetation planting and configuration suggestions for emotional restoration environments,as well as theoretical guidance for the construction of restorative landscapes.
