Paraffin sections from 50 mycosis fungoides (22 MFI-Premyc...The present work studied the application of AgNOR count to differential diagnosis between cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL) and cutaneous pseudolymphoma (CPL). Paraffin sections from 50 mycosis fungoides (22 MFI-Premycotic stage, 24 MF Ⅰ infiltrative stage and 4 MF Ⅲ - tumor stage), 2 nonepidermotropic cutaneous T cell lymphoma (NECTCL) and 9 CPL were investigated. In each case, 200 cells randomly selected were examined using a × 100 oil immersion lens. The mean number, standard deviation and standard error of the mean of AgNOR counts were as follows: MFⅠ 1.17±0.09, SEM = 0.01; MⅡ 1.17±0.01, SEM = 0.01; MF Ⅲ. 3.55±0.87, SEM = 0.43; NECTCL 4.5±0.28, SEM -0.199; CPL 1.17±0.1, SEM ± 0.03. The results revealed a highly significant difference between CTCL (MFⅢ+NECTCL) and CPL (t = 4.75, P<0.001), tumor stage (MF Ⅲ) and pretumor stage (MFI, MF Ⅱ) of mycosis fungoides (t = 4.75, P<0.001). Thus. AgNOR count is valuable in differential diagnosis.展开更多

Methods: A t...Objective: To evaluate the relation between argyrophilic nucleolar organizer region (AgNOR)-associated proteins and clinicopathological parameters and survival in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: A total of 207 surgical specimens diagnosed as NSCLC were included in this study. Double-staining procedures were performed using antigen Ki-67 (clone MIB-1) and silver nitrate by immunohistochemical and AgNOR-staining methods. Results: The AgNOR area in MIB-l-positive cells of NSCLC is related to clinicopathological parameters under the TNM (tumor, node, and metastasis) system. The survival of patients with small AgNOR area in MIB-1-positive cells is better than that of patients with large AgNOR area. Molecular, biological (AgNOR area in MIB-l-positive cells), and clinicopathological (greatest tumor dimension, metastases to regional lymph nodes, histology, and differentiation) parameters are independent prognostic factors of NSCLC.Conclusion: The AgNOR area in MIB- 1-positive cells is related to clinicopathological parameters and survival in NSCLC.展开更多

The study consisted of a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent group and pretest-p...This study sought to design a pedagogical activity using multiple graphic organizers to enhance the thinking intelligence of students. The study consisted of a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent group and pretest-posttest design. The targets of the study were students aged 11. An experimental teaching session was conducted continuously for 12 weeks to compare the effects of teaching with multiple graphic organizers and teaching with concept mapping on the thinking intelligence of students in the experimental groups as compared with that of the students in the control group (CG). To examine the differences in the thinking intelligence of students, results of the study were analyzed with Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). Data analysis showed that the students who had received teaching with multiple graphic organizers had better thinking intelligence as compared with the students who were taught with the concept mapping method and that there was a significant effect size. This indicates that multiple graphic organizers produce significant positive results on the thinking intelligence of students.展开更多

To this end, an OPT (Oxford Placement Test) was administered to a research population (N = 354) in order to homogenize it. On the basis of the test results, the population was sorted into three groups of reading-low, reading-mid, and reading-high students. Sixty participants with the lowest level of reading comprehension proficiency were randomly selected and assigned to an EG (Experimental Group) (N = 30) and a CG (Control Group) (N = 30). Afterwards, a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) reading comprehension pretest was administered to both groups in order to determine their current level of reading proficiency. Then, the EG received 10 successive 90-minute sessions on GOs as post-reading strategies for expository text comprehension, while the CG received the same amount of treatment on other post-reading strategies. In the end, another TOEFL reading comprehension posttest was administered to the research groups to measure their reading comprehension performance level after the treatment. The results revealed that GOs were statistically more significant and effective for the low-skilled readers than other post-reading strategies.展开更多

Ferroptosis,a form of iron-dependent regulated cell death(RCD),is emerging as a critical mechanism in the pathogenesis and progression of sepsis.This review highlights the intricate molecular pathways and hallmark fea...Ferroptosis,a form of iron-dependent regulated cell death(RCD),is emerging as a critical mechanism in the pathogenesis and progression of sepsis.This review highlights the intricate molecular pathways and hallmark features of ferroptosis,including lipid peroxidation,dysregulation of iron metabolism,and glutathione depletion,which exacerbate sepsis progression and sepsis-associated multi-organ damage.The systemic interactions of ferroptosis with inflammation,innate,and adaptive immunity,and organ injury are elucidated,emphasizing the role ferroptosis plays both in immunity including sepsis-associated immune cell damage/dysfunction,immune dysregulation,and immunosuppression,and in sepsis-associated multi-organ injury such as acute lung injury(ALI),acute kidney injury(AKI),acute hepatic injury(AHI),acute intestinal injury,septic cardiomyopathy,and septic encephalopathy.Therapeutic strategies targeting ferroptosis hold promise for improving sepsis outcomes.Approaches include pharmacological interventions of ferroptosis-associated pathways,nanoparticle-based delivery systems,and combinatorial therapies aimed at preventing immune dysfunction and protecting against multi-organ failure.Nonetheless,challenges remain in translating preclinical findings into clinical application,necessitating further research into ferroptosis-specific regulatory networks.This review underscores the potential of therapeutics targeting ferroptosis as a transformative approach to addressing sepsis,paving the way for innovative and precision-based clinical interventions.展开更多
Formamidinium lead iodide(FAPbI3)perovskite exhibits an impressive X-ray absorption coefficient and a large carrier mobility-lifetime product(μτ),making it as a highly promising candidate for X-ray detection appl...Formamidinium lead iodide(FAPbI3)perovskite exhibits an impressive X-ray absorption coefficient and a large carrier mobility-lifetime product(μτ),making it as a highly promising candidate for X-ray detection application.However,the presence of larger FA+cation induces to an expansion of the Pb-I octahedral framework,which unfortunately affects both the stability and charge carrier mobility of the corresponding devices.To address this challenge,we develop a novel low-dimensional(HtrzT)PbI3 perovskite featuring a conjugated organic cation(1H-1,2,4-Triazole-3-thiol,HtrzT+)which matches well with theα-FAPbI3 lattices in two-dimensional plane.Benefiting from the matched lattice between(HtrzT)PbI3 andα-FAPbI3,the anchored lattice enhances the Pb-I bond strength and effectively mitigates the inherent tensile strain of theα-FAPbI3 crystal lattice.The X-ray detector based on(HtrzT)PbI3(1.0)/FAPbI3 device achieves a remarkable sensitivity up to 1.83×105μC Gyair−1 cm−2,along with a low detection limit of 27.6 nGyair s−1,attributed to the release of residual stress,and the enhancement in carrier mobility-lifetime product.Furthermore,the detector exhibits outstanding stability under X-ray irradiation with tolerating doses equivalent to nearly 1.17×106 chest imaging doses.展开更多
