Landslide susceptibility mapping(LSM)plays a crucial role in assessing geological risks. The current LSM techniques face a significant challenge in achieving accurate results due to uncertainties associated with regional-scale geotechnical parameters. To explore rainfall-induced LSM,this study proposes a hybrid model that combines the physically-based probabilistic model(PPM)with convolutional neural network(CNN).The PPM is capable of effectively capturing the spatial distribution of landslides by incorporating the probability of failure(POF)considering the slope stability mechanism under rainfall conditions. This significantly characterizes the variation of POF caused by parameter uncertainties.CNN was used as a binary classifier to capture the spatial and channel correlation between landslide conditioning factors and the probability of landslide occurrence.OpenCV image enhancement technique was utilized to extract non-landslide points based on the POF of landslides. The proposed model comprehensively considers physical mechanics when selecting non-landslide samples, effectively filtering out samples that do not adhere to physical principles and reduce the risk of overfitting. The results indicate that the proposed PPM-CNN hybrid model presents a higher prediction accuracy, with an area under the curve(AUC)value of 0.85 based on the landslide case of the Niangniangba area of Gansu Province,China compared with the individual CNN model(AUC=0.61)and the PPM(AUC=0.74).This model can also consider the statistical correlation and non-normal probability distributions of model parameters. These results offer practical guidance for future research on rainfall-induced LSM at the regional scale. 展开更多

A simplified physically-based model was developed to simulate the breaching process of the Gouhou concrete-faced rockfill dam (CFRD), which is the only breach case of a high CFRD in the world. Considering the dam height, a hydraulic method was chosen to simulate the initial scour position on the downstream slope, with the steepening of the downstream slope taken into account; a headcut erosion formula was adopted to simulate the backward erosion as well. The moment equilibrium method was utilized to calculate the ultimate length of a concrete slab under its self-weight and water loads. The calculated results of the Gouhou CFRD breach case show that the proposed model provides reasonable peak breach flow, final breach width, and failure time, with relative errors less than 15% as compared with the measured data. Sensitivity studies show that the outputs of the proposed model are more or less sensitive to different parameters. Three typical parametric models were compared with the proposed model, and the comparison demonstrates that the proposed physically-based breach model performs better and provides more detailed results than the parametric models. 展开更多

An infinite slope stability numerical model driven by the comprehensive physically-based integrated hydrology model(InHM)is presented. In this approach, the failure plane is assumed to be parallel to the hydraulic gradient instead of the slope surface. The method helps with irregularities in complex terrain since depressions and flat areas are allowed in the model. The present model has been tested for two synthetic single slopes and a small catchment in the Mettman Ridge study area in Oregon,United States,to estimate the shallow landslide susceptibility. The results show that the present approach can reduce the simulation error of hydrological factors caused by the rolling topography and depressions, and is capable of estimating spatial-temporal variations for landslide susceptibilities at simple slopes as well as at catchment scale, providing a valuable tool for the prediction of shallow landslides. 展开更多

In this paper, we give an up-to-date survey on physically-based fluid animation research. As one of the most popular approaches to simulate realistic fluid effects, physically-based fluid animation has spurred a large number of new results in recent years. We classify and discuss the existing methods within three categories: Lagrangian method, Eulerian method and Lattice-Boltzmann method. We then introduce techniques for seven different kinds of special fluid effects. Finally we review the latest hot research areas and point out some future research trends, including surface tracking, fluid control, hybrid method, model reduction, etc. 展开更多

A meshless simulation system is presented for elastic deformation driven by skeleton in this paper. In this system, we propose a new method for calculating node rotation while applying a similar technique with stiffness warping to tackle the nonlinear large deformation. In our method, all node rotations are evaluated from sampling points in attached skeleton by con- structing and solving the diffusion partial differential equation. The experiments indicated that the method can enhance the sta- bility of the dynamics and avoid fussy sub-step calculation in static deformation edition. Moreover, rational deformation results for the area around the skeleton joints can be simulated without user interaction by adopting the simplified technique. 展开更多

Leaves are classified into two classes: moveable and non-moveable. For moveable leaves, their movements consist of two parts: leafstalk rotation and leaf surface rotation. For each rotation, a movement model was constructed and the movement was computed based on each model, respectively. The final leaf movements were obtained by superposition of these two rotations. The method's principle is simple and easy to use. 展开更多

This paper presents a method for simulating surface crack patterns appearing in ceramic glaze, glass, wood and mud. It uses a physically and heuristically combined method to model this type of crack pattern. A stress field is defined heuristically over the triangle mesh of an object. Then, a first-order quasi-static cracking node method (CNM) is used to model deformation. A novel combined stress and energy combined crack criterion is employed to address crack initiation and propagation separately according to physics. Meanwhile, a highest-stress-first rule is applied in crack initiation, and a breadth-first rule is applied in crack propagation. Finally, a local stress relaxation step is employed to evolve the stress field and avoid shattering artifacts. Other related issues are also discussed, such as the elimination of quadra- ture sub-cells, the prevention of parallel cracks and spurious crack procession. Using this method, a variety of crack patterns observed in the real world can be reproduced by changing a set of parameters. Consequently, our method is robust because the computational mesh is independent of dynamic cracks and has no sliver elements. We evaluate the realism of our results by comparing them with photographs of realworld examples. Further, we demonstrate the controllability of our method by varying different parameters. 展开更多
