For example in Italy the damage assessment of structures after an earthquake is managed from the Italian Emergency Authority, using printed forms (AeDES) which are filled by experts on site generating a lot of confusion in filling and transferring the forms to the Disaster Management Operative Center. Because of this, the paper explores the viability of using mobile communication technologies (smart phones) and the Web to develop response systems that would aid communities after a major disaster, providing channels for allowing residents and responders ofuploading and distributing information, related to structural damages coordinating the damage field reconnaissance. A mobile application that can be run by residents on smart phones has been developed, to give an initial damage evaluation of the area, which is going to be very useful when resources (e.g. the number of experts is limited). The mobile application has been tested for the first time during 2012 Emilia earthquake to enhance the emergency response, showing the efficiency of the proposed method in statistical terms comparing the proposed procedure with the standard procedure.展开更多

With their integration, the teaching method gets constantly updated, and the teaching resources are greatly enriched, which con-spicuously enhances the teaching effect, and is embraced by students. Teaching assessment is a key link in college English teach-ing. Establishing a scientific and perfect assessment system is also an important means to achieve teaching goals, and thus it is im-perative to establish a scientific and reasonable assessment system based on the SPOC platform for college English blended teach-ing. The present paper argues the assessment system from two aspects:establishing assessment criteria and setting up the content of assessment. It aims to establish a scientific and perfect assessment system to promote students'growth, and improve the quality of teaching as well as personnel training.展开更多

Methods Between August 2014 and February 2015, a total of 140 patients at Ain Shams University Hospitals in Cairo, Egypt received the Arabic version of the ESAS-r. For each patient, the ESAS-r was completed twice, first by the treating physician (as part of the basic assessment) and a second time by the patient, with a maximum of 2 hours between the two assessments. An additional survey was included to assess patients' acceptance of the survey and their preferences. Results Out of 140 enrolled patients in the study, 11 patients refused to complete the questionnaire, and 10 patients were excluded due to incomplete records in their medical records. Complete data was retrieved for 119 patients who were included for further analyses. The 78 (65%) patients declared that the test was clear and easy to complete. They were able to answer the test without help. Collectively, tiredness and sense of well-being were the most commonly encountered symptoms in ratings obtained by both patients and physicians. Tiredness was the only symptom showing a significant difference between the two rating methods, patient-rated scores being higher (P = 0.032). Cronbach's alpha showed that both tests com- pleted by the physician and the patients were internally consistent: the physician-rated test had a coefficient of 0.877, and the patient-rated test had a coefficient of 0.863. All ESAS scores had good internal consis- tency, with a Cmnbach's alpha coefficient of 0.88. The internal consistency remained high after removal of individual symptom scores, with Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranging from 0.823 to 0.902, indicating that no individual question had undue influence on the total ESAS score. Conclusion The ESAS-r was easily understood by and applicable to patients. There was no significant discrepancy in the rates of symptoms reported by the patients and physicians, apart from tiredness. Based on this, the test could be applied on a larger scale with in-home patients. This test can be cost-effective and can decrease the number of hospital visits among advanced cancer patients in need of supportive treat- ment rather than active cancer therapy.展开更多

Methods A total of 251 couples were enrolled in this study and female patients were divided into two groups. In group Ⅰ, oocytes were inseminated at 6 h after ovum pick-up. In group Ⅱ, oocyte maturity was rapidly categorized by simple assessment system. Mature oocytes were inseminated at 3-4 h after ovum pick-up when oocyte-corona complexes (OCC) exhibited clear thick ring-like halo (RLH) and expanded cumulus cells (CC) or 5-6 h when OCC exhibited RLH and a few clumped and/or dark CC, respectively. Intermediate oocytes were inseminated at 7-8 h when RLH was not found around the OCC and CC were compacted and clumped and/or dark. Results Normal fertilization rate was higher in group Ⅱ (76.5%) than that in group Ⅰ (58.0%) (P〈0.001). However, abnormal fertilization rate was higher in group Ⅰ(11.3%) than that in group 11 (3.6%) (P〈0.001). The cleavage (82.6% vs 90.0%), chemical pregnancy (4. 8% vs 3.9%), twin pregnancy (6. 7% vs 3.9%) and implantation rate (8.4% vs 10.6%) had no statistically differences between group I and Ⅱ. Rate of clinical and singleton pregnancy was higher in groupⅡ (35.3% and 31.4%) than those in group Ⅰ (24.8% and 18.2%) (P〈0.05). Conclusion This simple assessment system is useful and effective for evaluation and categorization of the oocyte maturity with better reproductive outcomes.展开更多

This paper concentrates on developing a new methodology for the online assessment web applications that could be used while offline. It is important to retrieve the critical data collected during an examination without a provision of a backup mechanism. There is a need for an assessment system that can adapt to work uninterruptedly and without loss of critical data while there is intermittent intemet discontinuity. This paper describes architecture and implementation of online assessment system with offline capabilities. Online assessment system with offline capabilities will not interrupt examinee's experience while appearing for an assessment test if intemet connection is not available. A development methodology is designed and a compliant framework is implemented to enhance online assessment system with offline capabilities.展开更多

China is rich in coal resources and has a large amount of gas with a wide range of distribution. However, China experienced not only adverse effects on coal mining but also gas disasters in underground engineering construction, such as tunnels and chambers. With the increased number of tunnels passing through coal-bearing strata, the incidence of gas accidents is also rising. Therefore, the significance of preventing and mitigating gas disasters should be emphasized, and an effective risk assessment method for gas disasters should be established. On the basis of research on over 100 gas tunnels in China, a relatively ideal gas disaster risk assessment method and system for tunnels are established through the following measures. Firstly, geo-environmental conditions and gas situations were analyzed during construction. Secondly, qualitative analysis was combined with quantitative analysis. Finally, the influencing factors of gas disasters, including geological conditions, gas,and human factors, were investigated. The gas tunnel risk assessment system includes three levels:(1) the grading assessment of a gas tunnel during the planning stage,(2) the risk assessment of gas tunnel construction during the design and construction stages,(3) the gas tunnel outburst risk assessment during the coal uncovering stage. This system was applied to the dynamic assessment of gas disaster during the construction of the Zipingpu tunnel of Dujiangyan–Wenchuan Highway(in Sichuan, Southwest China). The assessment results were consistent with the actual excavation, which verified the rationality and feasibility of the system. The developed system was believed to be back-up and applied for risk assessment of gas disaster in the underground engineering construction.展开更多

摘要Bio-invasion has caused serious ecosystem damage and enormous economic losses in China, and it has been the greatest factor to island bio-diversity reduction.Xiamen,as an important seaport with a relatively high conservation value,is particularly vulnerable to bio-invasion for its typical island ecosystem as well as frequent human-made disturbance. As a result of field surveys, literature review, and consultation with experts,a list of 67 alien plants identified as major invaders(12 species)and emerging invaders(55 species)in Xiamen has been compiled.Based on the analysis of the current situation of bio-invasion in Xiamen,a risk assessment system for alien plant invasion has been designed using a ranking system and an analytic hierarchy process. The system consists of 17 secondary indices, grouped into 6 primary indices reflecting the different stages in the bio-invasion process:introduction, establishment, dispersion, current range, infestation, and artificial control.Biogeographical, ecological, and experience-linked aspects of the species as well as artificial disturbance were taken into account in the index selection and criterion development. The system was then validated(and worked well)using fifty well-known alien plant species as candidates.Appropriate recommendations are proposed to help local policy-makers prioritize their decisions on such alien plants.

摘要One common scenario during disasters such as earthquakes is that the activity of damage field reconnaissance on site is not well-coordinated. The mobile application has been tested for the first time during 2012 Emilia earthquake to enhance the emergency response, showing the efficiency of the proposed method in statistical terms comparing the proposed procedure with the standard procedure.
摘要Purpose-Nowadays successful organizations need to be masters at leadership by values to play in a constantly changing and transforming environment. But how can leaders and organizations effectively convene strategic and culture development based on values? This paper presents the Tri-Intersectional Model of Leadership by Values(TMLV)in which leaders and organizations can integrate a sustainable strategy,as well as a culture and value-based management system that simultaneously leverages human, financial, and social resources. With its three essential axes of values(economic-pragmatic,emotional-development,and ethical-social)at their intersection points,it allows leaders to focus on the strategy linkages:innovation-intersection between the economic-pragmatic values axis and the emotional-development values axis-allows them to develop sustainable innovations;survival-intersection between the economic-pragmatic values axis and the ethical-social values axis-enhances their organization’s survival;finally,sensibility-intersection between the economic-pragmatic values axis and the ethical-social values axis-makes them more humane and more socially-responsible.The application of the TMLV,using the Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making Open Technology Assessment System, can be a great inspiration for stimulating and working with values in organizations,as well as allowing leaders to develop a values-based,high-involvement,and performance-oriented culture.Methodology/Approach-This research considers empirical data analysis of the 37 case studies of the EU-InnovatE project(http//gffzz7ba183cd706c45dehopuccoqqpq6x6vvq.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn)-a pioneering initiative to align innovation values to integrate the end user into the process of innovation and entrepreneurship related to a sustainable lifestyle and the green economy in Europe-using a fuzzy multiple-criteria decision making method and open technologies system, such as server-side PHP language,MariaDB Database, fork of MYSQL Database Management System, and JavaScript libraries to perform operation directly on the user’s browser.Findings-The application of the TMLV model, considering empirical analysis of the extracted values from the case studies, using the Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making Open Technology Assessment System, can be a great inspiration for stimulating and working with values in João organizations,as well as allowing leaders to develop suitable strategies and interventions for shaping a sustainable high-performance culture.Research implications-This research can be a starting point for further research to assess the effectiveness of the leadership model based on a decision-making open technology system in any given organization,as well as to invite researchers who have positive passion about working with values to participate in the improvement of this tool.Originality/value-The Tri-Intersectional Model of Leadership by Values using the Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making Open Technology Assessment System is presented as an evolution in leadership models that may be used to fuel innovation, survival, and a sensibility strategic focus that is necessary to optimize human and organizational performance and deliver effective solutions to the massive array of human, financial, and social problems we face today.
摘要Due to the rapid development of modern science and technology, college English teaching has been improved according-ly. It aims to establish a scientific and perfect assessment system to promote students'growth, and improve the quality of teaching as well as personnel training.

摘要Rock slope hazard assessment is an important part of risk analysis for open pit mines. The main parameters that can lead to rock slope failures are the parameters traditionally used in geomechanical classifications, the slope geometrical parameters and external factors like rainfall and blasting. This paper presents a methodology for a hazard assessment system for open pit mine slopes based on 88 cases collated around the world using principal components analysis, discriminant analysis and confidence ellipses. The historical cases used in this study included copper, gold, iron, diamond, lead and zinc, platinum and claystone mines. The variables used in the assessment methodology are uniaxial compressive strength of intact rock;spacing, persistence, opening, roughness, infilling and orientation of the main discontinuity set;weathering of the rock mass;groundwater;blasting method;and height and inclination of the pit. While principal component analysis was used to quantify the data, the discriminant analysis was used to establish a rule to classify new slopes about its stability condition. To provide a practical hazard assessment system, confidence ellipses were used to propose a hazard graph and generate the HAS-Q.The discriminant rule developed in this research has a high discrimination capacity with an error rate of 11.36%.
摘要Objective This study aims to test the acceptance, feasibility, and usefulness of the Arabic version of the revised Edmonton Symptom AssesSment System (ESAS-r) among Egyptian patients with advanced cancer and to compare the rates of symptoms documented by patients and physicians. This test can be cost-effective and can decrease the number of hospital visits among advanced cancer patients in need of supportive treat- ment rather than active cancer therapy.

摘要Objective To establish and evaluate the efficacy of the simple assessment system of oocyte maturity. Conclusion This simple assessment system is useful and effective for evaluation and categorization of the oocyte maturity with better reproductive outcomes.
摘要There has been increasing research in developing offline web applications. A development methodology is designed and a compliant framework is implemented to enhance online assessment system with offline capabilities.

摘要Gas disasters always restrict the tunnel constructions in mountain area, which becomes a major geological barrier against the development of underground engineering. The developed system was believed to be back-up and applied for risk assessment of gas disaster in the underground engineering construction.
