By applying the wavefront coding technique to an optical system, the depth of focus can be greatly increased. Several complicated methods, such as Fisher Information based method, have already been taken to optimize for the best pupil phase mask in ideal condition. Here one simple point spread function (PSF) based method with only the standard deviation method used to evaluate the PSF stability over the depth of focus is taken to optimize for the best coefficients of pupil phase mask in practical optical systems. Results of imaging simulations for optical systems with and without pupil phase mask are presented, and the sharpness of image is calculated for comparison. The optimized results showed better and much more stable imaging quality over the original system without changing the position of the image plane. 展开更多

In this paper, a new kind of simple-encoding irregular systematic LDPC codes suitable for one-relay coded cooperation is designed, where the proposed joint iterative decoding is effectively performed in the destination which is in accordance with the corresponding joint Tanner graph characterizing two different component LDPC codes used by the source and relay in ideal and non-ideal relay cooperations. The theoretical analysis and simulations show that the coded cooperation scheme obviously outperforms the coded non-cooperation one under the same code rate and decoding complex. The significant performance improvement can be virtually credited to the additional mutual exchange of the extrinsic information resulted by the LDPC code employed by the source and its counterpart used by the relay in both ideal and non-ideal cooperations. 展开更多

Based on the stationary phase method, the optical transfer function of the circular pupil system can be easily obtained from the optical transfer function of the rectangular pupil system by modifying the cut-off frequency and the on-axial modulation transfer function. An iterative transmit power allocation (PA) algorithm was proposed for group-wise space-time block coding (G-STBC) systems with group-wise successive interference cancellation (GSIC) receivers. Group-wise interference suppression (GIS) filters are employed to separate each group's transmit signals from other interferences and noise. While the total power on all transmit symbols is constrained, all transmit PA coefficients are updated jointly according to the channel information at each iteration. Through PA, each detection symbol has the same post-detection signal to interference-and-noise ratio (SINR). The simulation results verify that the proposed PA algorithm converges at the equilibrium quickly after few iterations, and it achieves much lower bit error rates than the previous single symbol SIC PA and the fixed ratio PA algorithms for G-STBC systems with GSIC receivers . 展开更多

Applications on iterative control and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system were developed. Two new charts derived from extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart were employed as the designing tools, which are called as output mutual information chart with defined iterative degree (DID) chart and near optimum output mutual information (NOMI) chart respectively. Different from the EXIT chart, they can show the iterative performance on the whole signal-to-noise ratio range with one single curve, whereas computation complexity is greatly reduced compared with conventional bit error ratio (BER) performance curve. The iterative control was implemented according to a near-optimum iterative degree vector determined by NOMI chart, the reasonability of uncertain parameters was analyzed in one MIMO system. The concepts were illustrated based on bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding (BICM-ID). 展开更多

The point spread function(PSF)caused by a wavefront coding system with a cubic phase mask has big side-lobes which leads to bad image restoration.This paper proposes a novel apodized cubic phase mask to suppress the side-lobes of the PSF.Simulated annealing algorithm is used to optimize the cubic and the truncation parameter of the phase mask.The system with the novel phase mask has better performance in the modulation transfer function(MTF)especially in low-and-medium spatial frequency region.The simulation results show that the restored images with the novel phase mask are superior to the one with the classic cubic phase mask in contrast and ringing effect.The experimental results show that the side-lobes of the PSF are suppressed by using the apodized cubic phase mask. 展开更多

It combines source coding and error correction tasks into one unified process by introducing an adaptive forbidden symbol. The proposed system achieves fixed length code words by adaptively adjusting the probability of the forbidden symbol and adding tail digits of variable length. The corresponding improved MAP decoding metric was derived. The proposed system can improve the performance. Simulations were performed on AWGN channels with various noise levels by using both hard and soft decision with BPSK modulation.The results show its performance is slightly better than that of our adaptive arithmetic error correcting coding system using a forbidden symbol. 展开更多

A novel low-complexity iterative receiver for multiuser space frequency block coding (SFBC) system was proposed in this paper. Unlike the conventional linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector, which requires matrix inversion at each iteration, the soft-in soft-out (SISO) detector is simply a parallel interference cancellation (PIC)-matched filter (MF) operation. The probability density function (PDF) of PIC-MF detector output is approximated as Gaussian, whose variance is calculated with a priori information fed back from the channel decoder. With this approximation, the log likelihood ratios (LLRs) of transmitted bits are under-estimated. Then the LLRs are multiplied by a constant factor to achieve a performance gain. The constant factor is optimized according to extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart of the SISO detector. Simulation results show that the proposed iterative receiver can significantly improve the system performance and converge to the matched filter bound (MFB) with low computational complexity at high signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). 展开更多

In order to feed the application of CAD technology, we must make improvements to the existing coding method. Based on the similarity principle of Group Technology and existing coding system, a new coding method applicable to slide- way design is brought forward. The existing coding system could get optimized by means of analysing and studying the influence imposed by the parts' shape and posture features. This article investigates the distributed recursive filtering problem for discrete-time stochastic cyber–physical systems.A particular feature of our work is that we consider systems in which the state is constrained by saturation.Measurements are transmitted to nodes of a sensor network over unreliable wireless channels.We propose a linear coding mechanism,together with a distributed method for obtaining a state estimate at each node.These designs aim to minimize the state estimation error covariance.In addition,we derive a bound on this covariance,and accommodate the design parameters to minimize this bound.The resulting design depends on the packet loss probabilities of the wireless channels.This permits applying the proposed scheme to systems in which communications suffer from denial-of-service attacks,as such attacks typically affect those probabilities.Finally,we present a numerical example illustrating this application. 展开更多

With the rise of the internet of things demanding low latency,the significance of real-time transmission communications is being increasingly emphasized.In real-time transmission systems,there are two ways to do the transmission:without and with channel coding,and therefore,it is worth comparing the performance of these ways.In this paper,the distortions of these two systems are derived.Specifically,a general formula for calculating distortion in wireless communication systems is first provided.Next,variations of the formula are developed for three standard wireless communication systems:single-input,single-output(SISO);multiple-input,multiple-output(MIMO)with a Gaussian channel;and mmWave MIMO.Theoretical derivations,supported by simulation results,demonstrate that systems without channel coding exhibit less distortion than those with channel coding on average. 展开更多

We study the performance of high-dimensional superdense coding(HD-SDC)over an amplitude damping(AD)channel with memory and propose a protocol that leverages partial measurement and its reversal to enhance the channel capacity.By considering a two-qutrit system,we model the memory AD noise using a convex mixture of memoryless and perfectly memory AD channels.We demonstrate that the memory effect alone can mitigate the decay of the SDC capacity under noise.More significantly,we show that the application of partial measurement before the channel and its reversal after the channel can not only recover the capacity degraded by noise but,for certain non-maximally entangled initial states,even amplify it beyond the initial capacity.This amplification effect is governed by three key factors:the ground-state probability in the initial entangled state,the memory strength,and the partial measurement strength.Our results provide a practical strategy for enhancing quantum communication protocols in realistic noisy environments and highlight the synergistic benefits of memory noise and measurement-based control. 展开更多

Aiming at the poor performance of the parity check(PC) aided adaptive successive cancellation list(PC-ASCL) decoding algorithm because the PC code in the polar code can only verify odd errors, an optimized parity check(OPC) code which can verify all odd errors as well as the half even errors is proposed. The OPC code is used to improve the PC-ASCL decoding algorithm, thus an OPC aided ASCL(OPC-ASCL) decoding algorithm is proposed. In the coding stage, the algorithm divides the information sequence into multiple segments, and places an OPC code at the end of each segment to verify the current information sequence, and places a cyclic redundancy check code at the end of the entire information sequence to verify the entire information sequence. In the decoding stage, the algorithm uses the OPC-ASCL decoder to decode. Simulation results show that compared to the PC-ASCL decoding algorithm, the OPC-ASCL decoding algorithm can reduce the complexity and obtain the certain performance gain. 展开更多

Quantum error correction technology is based on the principle of redundant encoding,encoding logical quantum information into multiple physical qubits to provide important support for the stable operation of quantum computers.To address the issues of low decoding accuracy and limited feature extraction in quantum error correction,this paper proposes a toric code decoder based on a syndrome-preliminary error fusion module(SPEFM)and a ResNet architecture.This decoder takes full advantage of the correlations between X and Z errors.In the SPEFM,the syndrome and preliminary error predictions are deeply fused,while a unidirectional Swin transformer architecture is incorporated to extract global error features from the syndrome data,signiffiificantly improving both decoding accuracy and computational efffiificiency.In addition,this paper further extracts local error features from the fused features using the deep residual structure of ResNet,enhancing the decoder's ability to capture quantum error patterns.Experimental results show that the decoder is applicable to different code distances(d=4,6,8,10)under the depolarizing noise model.Its bit error rate is lower than that of the minimum weight perfect matching(MWPM)algorithm,and its logical error rate is lower than both the MWPM algorithm and the ResNet18 decoder.Furthermore,the decoding threshold is increased to 0.163,representing a 3.82%improvement over the MWPM algorithm threshold of 0.157. 展开更多

Lossy image coding is the art of computing that is principally bounded by the image’s rate-distortion function.This bound,though never accurately characterized,has been approached practically via deep learning technologies in recent years.Indeed,learned image coding schemes allow direct optimization of the joint rate-distortion cost,thereby outperforming the handcrafted image coding schemes by a large margin.Still,it is observed that there is room for further improvement in the rate-distortion performance of learned image coding.In this article,we identify the gap between the ideal rate-distortion function forecasted by Shannon’s information theory and the empirical rate-distortion function achieved by the state-of-the-art learned image coding schemes,revealing that the gap is incurred by five different effects:modeling effect,approximation effect,amortization effect,digitization effect,and asymptotic effect.We design simulations and experiments to quantitatively evaluate the last three effects,which demonstrates the high potential of future lossy image coding technologies. 展开更多

An analytical model of a floating heaving box integrated with a vertical flexible porous membrane placed right next to the box applications to wave energy extraction and breakwater systems is developed under the reduced wave equation.The theoretical solutions for the heave radiating potential to the assigned physical model in the corresponding zones are attained by using the separation of variables approach along with the Fourier expansion.Applying the matching eigenfunction expansion technique and orthogonal conditions,the unknown coefficients that are involved in the radiated potentials are determined.The attained radiation potential allows the computation of hydrodynamic coefficients of the heaving buoy,Power Take-Off damping,and wave quantities.The accuracy of the analytical solution for the hydrodynamic coefficients is demonstrated for different oblique angles with varying numbers of terms in the series solution.The current analytical analysis findings are confirmed by existing published numerical boundary element method simulations.Several numerical results of the hydrodynamic coefficients,power capture,power take-off optimal damping,and transmission coefficients for numerous structural and physical aspects are conducted.It has been noted that the ideal power take-off damping increases as the angle of incidence rises,and the analysis suggests that the ability to capture waves is more effective in shallower waters compared to deeper ones. 展开更多
