The compressibility effect of density gradient, pressure dilatation and turbulent Mach number is accounted. In order to reduce confusions between model uncertainties and discretization errors, the formally fifth-order explicit weighted compact nonlinear scheme (WCNS-E-5) is adopted for convection terms, and a fourth-order staggered central difference scheme is applied for viscous terms. The 15° and 34° compression comers at Mach number 9.22 are investigated. Numerical results show that the original SST model is superior to the original S-A model in the resolution of separated regions and predictions of wall pressures and wall heat-flux rates. The capability of the S-A model can be largely improved by blending Catris' and Shur's compressibility corrections. Among the three corrections of the SST model listed in the present paper, Catris' modification brings the best results. However, the dissipation and pressure dilatation corrections result in much larger separated regions than that of the experiment, and are much worse than the original SST model as well as the other two corrections. The correction of turbulent Mach number makes the separated region slightly smaller than that of the original SST model. Some results of low-order schemes are also presented. When compared to the results of the high-order schemes, the separated regions are smaller, and the peak wall pressures and peak heat-flux rates are lower in the region of the reattachment points.展开更多

To systematically discuss the effect of compressibility in different metallic rod-target combinations, we construct three cases, i.e., the penetrations by the more compressible rod into the less compressible target, rod into the analogously compressible target, and the less compressible rod into the more compressible target. The effects of volumetric strain, internal energy, and strength on the penetration efficiency are analyzed simultaneously. It indicates that the compressibility of the rod and target increases the pressure at the rodarget interface. The more compressible rodarget has larger volumetric strain and higher internal energy. Both the larger volumetric strain and higher strength enhance the penetration or anti-penetration ability. On the other hand, the higher internal energy weakens the penetration or anti-penetration ability. The two trends conflict, but the volumetric strain dominates in the variation of the penetration efficiency, which would not approach the hydrodynamic limit if the rod and target are not analogously compressible. However, if the compressibility of the rod and target is analogous, it has little effect on the penetration efficiency.展开更多

Shanghai Clay is a lightly overconsolidated soil (OCR=1.2-1.3) with true cohesion or bonding. Due to the influence of soil structures, the secondary compression index Ca varies significantly with consolidation stress and the maximum value of C~ occurs in the vicinity of preconsolidation stress. Measured coefficients of secondary compression generally fall in the range of 0.2%-0.8% based on which Shanghai Clay can be classified as a soil with low to medium secondary compressibility. The effect of soil structures on the compressibility of Shanghai Clay is found to reduce with an increase in depth. Soil structure has an important influence on initial soil stiffness, but does not appear to affect undrained shear strength significantly. Undrained shear strengths of intact Shanghai Clay from compression tests are approximately 20% higher than those from extension tests.展开更多

To avoid the limitations involved in Terzaghi’s theory, many efforts are being made by scholars to solve the problems in practical engineering situations. This paper presents a generalized theory for one dimensional consolidation of saturated soft clay with variable compressibility and permeability. The semi-analytical solution presented here takes into account the well known empirical e-logk and e-logp′(σ′) relations under instantaneous loading. Study of the consolida- tion behaviors showed that the ratio of Cc and Ck (the slope of e-logp and e-logk respectively) govern the ratio of consolidation. A simulative laboratory investigation with GDS advanced consolidation system was made to analyze the clay consolidation process and compare the results with the semi-analytical solution.展开更多

Several ...Natural gases containing sour components exhibit different gas compressibility factor (Z) behavior than do sweet gases. Therefore, a new accurate method should be developed to account for these differences. Several methods are available today for calculating the Z-factor from an equation of state. However, these equations are more complex than the foregoing correlations, involving a large number of parameters, which require more complicated and longer computations. The aim of this study is to develop a simplified calculation method for a rapid estimating Z-factor for sour natural gases containing as much as 90% total acid gas. In this article, two new correlations are first presented for calculating the pseudo- critical pressure and temperature of the gas mixture as a function of the gas specific gravity. Then, a simple correlation on the basis of the standard gas compressibility factor chart is introduced for a quick estimation of sweet gases' compressibility factor as a function of reduced pressure and temperature. Finally, a new corrective term related to the mole fractions of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide is developed.展开更多

In the method, soil stratum is divided equally into n layers while load and consolidation time are also divided into small parts and time intervals accordingly. The problem of one-dimensional consolidation of soil stratum under cyclic loading can then be dealt with at each time interval as one-dimensional linear consolidation of multi-layered soils under constant loading. The compression or rebounding of each soil layer can be judged by the effective stress of the layer. When the effective stress is larger than that in the last time interval, the soil layer is compressed, and when it is smaller, the soil layer rebounds. Thus, appropriate compressibility can be chosen and the consolidation of the layered system can be analyzed by the available analytical linear consolidation theory. Based on the semi-analytical method, a computer program was developed and the behavior of one-dimensional consolidation of soil with varied compressibility under cyclic loading was investigated, and compared with the available consolidation theory which takes no consideration of varied compressibility of soil under cyclic loading. The results showed that by taking the variable compressibility into account, the rate of consolidation of soil was greater than the one predicted by conventional consolidation theory.展开更多

A new method is developed based on hydrostatic suspension principle in order to determine the two coefficients with high measurement accuracy. Two silicon single crystal samples with known density are immersed into a sealed vessel full of DSL-2329. The density of liquid is adjusted with varying liquid temperature and static pressure, so that the hydrostatic suspension of two silicon single crystal samples is achieved. The compression and thermal expansion coefficients are then calculated by using the data of temperature and static pressure at the suspension state. One silicon single crystal sample can be suspended at different state, as long as the liquid temperature and static pressure function linearly according to a certain mathematical relationship. A hydrostatic suspension experimental system is devised with the maximal temperature control error ±50 μK; Silicon single crystal samples can be suspended by adapting the pressure following the PID method. By using the method based on hydrostatic suspension principle, the two key coefficients can be measured at the same time, and measurement precision can be improved due to avoiding the influence of liquid surface tension. This method was further validated experimentally, where the mixture of 1, 2, 3-tribromopropane and 1,2-dibromoethane is used as DSL-2329. The compressibility and thermal expansion coefficients were measured, as 8.5′10–4 K–1 and 5.4′10–10 Pa–1, respectively.展开更多

摘要Compression index Ccis an essential parameter in geotechnical design for which the effectiveness of correlation is still a challenge. This paper suggests a novel modelling approach using machine learning(ML)technique. The performance of five commonly used machine learning(ML)algorithms,i.e.back-propagation neural network(BPNN),extreme learning machine(ELM),support vector machine(SVM),random forest(RF)and evolutionary polynomial regression(EPR)in predicting Cc is comprehensively investigated.A database with a total number of 311 datasets including three input variables,i.e.initial void ratio e0,liquid limit water content wL,plasticity index Ip,and one output variable Cc is first established.Genetic algorithm(GA)is used to optimize the hyper-parameters in five ML algorithms, and the average prediction error for the 10-fold cross-validation(CV)sets is set as thefitness function in the GA for enhancing the robustness of ML models. The results indicate that ML models outperform empirical prediction formulations with lower prediction error.RF yields the lowest error followed by BPNN,ELM,EPR and SVM.If the ranges of input variables in the database are large enough,BPNN and RF models are recommended to predict Cc.Furthermore,if the distribution of input variables is continuous,RF model is the best one.Otherwise,EPR model is recommended if the ranges of input variables are small. The predicted correlations between input and output variables using five ML models show great agreement with the physical explanation.

摘要Calcareous sand is widely present in coastal areas around the world and is usually considered as a weak and unstable material due to its high compressibility and low strength.Microbial-induced calcium carbonate precipitation(MICP)is a promising technique for soil improvement. However, the commonly adopted bio-augmented MICP approach is in general less compatible with the natural soil environment. Thus, this study focuses on the bio-stimulated MICP approach, which is likely to enhance the dominance of ureolytic bacteria for longer period and thus is deemed more efficient. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the compressibility of calcareous sand treated by bio-stimulated MICP approach. In the current study,a series of one-dimension compression tests was conducted on bio-cemented sand pre-pared via bio-stimulation with different initial relative densities(D r).Based on the obtained compression curves and particle size distribution(PSD)curves, the parameters including cementation content, the coefficient of compressibility(a v),PSD,relative breakage(B r),and relative agglomeration(A r)were discussed. The results showed that a v decreased with the increasing cementation content. The bio-cemented sand prepared with higher initial D r had smaller(approximately 20%e70%)a v values than that with lower initial D r.The specimen with higher initial D r and higher cementation content resulted in smaller B r but larger A r.Finally,a conceptual framework featuring multiple contact and damage modes was proposed.

摘要The Spalart-Allmaras (S-A) turbulence model, the shear-stress transport (SST) turbulence model and their compressibility corrections are revaluated for hypersonic compression comer flows by using high-order difference schemes. When compared to the results of the high-order schemes, the separated regions are smaller, and the peak wall pressures and peak heat-flux rates are lower in the region of the reattachment points.
摘要We further consider the effect of rod strength by employing the compressible penetration model to study the effect of compressibility on hypervelocity penetration.Meanwhile, we define different instances of penetration efficiency in various modified models and compare these penetration efficiencies to identify the effects of different factors in the compressible model. However, if the compressibility of the rod and target is analogous, it has little effect on the penetration efficiency.

摘要Based on the difference of the Y-terminal functional group of the silane coupling agent(Y-Si(X)3),four different silane coupling agents were employed to pretreat the surface of the NdFeB powders. The effects of silane coupling agents on the flowability and compressibility of compounds for preparing bonded NdFeB magnets were studied. It is indicated that compounds pretreated by silane coupling agents have weaker friction and meshing force. The apparent density is increased by 0.3 g/cm^(3 )compared with the compound without silane coupling agent, and the radial crushing strength is significantly increased by about 3-4 times. In addition, the epoxy resin is more evenly distributed on the surface of the compounds treated by silane coupling agents observed by scanning electron microscopy, and some agglomerated particles are produced. Also, the compressibility of compounds with silane coupling agents is significantly improved due to the fact that hardening exponents are reduced. However, the addition of silane coupling agents has almost no effect on the magnetic properties of bonded magnets. The special energy was used to manifest the flowability of magnetic powder particles representing the macroscopic performance of the force between powder particles, providing a new direction for the study of the interface compatibility of two-phase or multiphase composite materials.
摘要A new compressibility correlation is introduced in the Langtry's local variable-based transition model to investigate the phe-nomenon on double wedge shock/boundary layer interactions. The cmnputational analysis compared with experimental data has been made to assess the influence of the wall temperature and the leading edge nose radius on a hypersonic double wedge boundary layer. It has been found that the laminar boundary layer separation occurs on the first ramp.Furthermore, the wall temperature and the leading edge nose radius have remarkable influence on the separation characteristics in the kink.Comparison of the calculated pressure coefficient distribution and the boundary layer profile with the experimental data shows that better results can be achieved when using the modified transition model.

摘要Gas compressibility factor (z-Factor) is one of the most important parameters in upstream and downstream calculations of petroleum industries. The importance of z-Factor cannot be overemphasized in oil and gas engineering calculations. The experimental measurements,Equations of State (EoS) and empirical correlations are the most common sources of z-Factor calculations. There are more than twenty correlations available with two variables for calculating the z-Factor from fitting in an EoS or just through fitting techniques. However, these correlations are too complex, which require initial value and more complicated and longer computations or have magnitude error. The purpose of this study is to develop a new accurate correlation to rapidly estimate z-Factor.Result of this correlation is compared with large scale of database and experimental data also.Proposed correlation has 1.660 of Absolute Percent Relative Error (EABS) versus Standing and Katz chart and has also 3.221 of EABS versus experimental data. The output of this correlation can be directly assumed or be used as an initial value of other implicit correlations. This correlation is valid for gas coefficient of isothermal compressibility (cg) calculations also.

摘要In order to investigate the compressibility, particularly the secondary compression behaviour, soil structure and undrained shear strength of Shanghai Clay, a series of one-dimensional consolidation tests (some up to 70 d) and undrained triaxial tests on high-quality intact and reconstituted soil specimens were carried out. Undrained shear strengths of intact Shanghai Clay from compression tests are approximately 20% higher than those from extension tests.

摘要Terzaghi gave a theory of soil consolidation based on the effective stress principle, which was derived on several ideal assumptions to get a simplified theory. A simulative laboratory investigation with GDS advanced consolidation system was made to analyze the clay consolidation process and compare the results with the semi-analytical solution.

摘要In rockfill dam engineering, particle breakage of rockfill materials is one of the major factors resulting in dam settlement. In this study,one-dimensional compression tests on a series of coarse granular materials with artificially-graded particle size distributions(PSDs)were carried out.The tests focused on understanding the role of initial PSDs in the dense packing density, compressibility and crushability of coarse granular materials. The effects of fractal dimension(D)and size polydispersity(θ)of PSDs were quantitatively analyzed. Two different loading stages were identified from the logarithms of the stress-strain relationships, with the turning point marked as the yield stress.A similar effect of initial PSDs was observed on the packing density and low-pressure modulus of coarse granular materials. The packing density and low-pressure modulus increased monotonically withθ,and their peak values were attained at a D value of approximately 2.2.However,there was no unique correspondence between the dense packing density and low-pressure modulus. The particle breakage was influenced differently by the initial PSDs,and it decreased with the values of D andθ.The emergence of the unique ultimate state was also identified from both the compression curves and PSDs of the samples after the tests. The potential implications of the test results in the design of both low and high rockfill dams were also demonstrated.

摘要Compressibility factor (z-factor) values of natural gases are necessary in most petroleum engineering calculations.Necessity arises when there are few available experimental data for the required composition, pressure and temperature conditions. One of the most common methods of calculating z-factor values is empirical correlation.Firstly,a new correlation based on the famous Standing-Katz (S-K) Chart is presented to predict z-factor values. The advantage of this correlation is that it is explicit in z and thus does not require an iterative solution as is required by other methods.Secondly, the comparison between new one and other correlations is carried out and the results indicate the superiority of the new correlation over the other correlations used to calculate z-factor.

摘要In order to study the effect of different CO2contents on gas compressibility factor(Z-factor),the JEFRI-PVT apparatus has been used to measure the Z-factor of dry natural gas with CO2content range from 10.74 to 70.42 mol%at the temperature range from 301.2 to 407.3 K and pressure range from 7 to 44 MPa.The results show that Z-factor decreases with increasing CO2content in natural gas at constant temperature and increases with increasing temperature for natural gas with the same CO2content.In addition, the Z-factor of water-saturated natural gas with high CO2content has been measured.A comparison of the Z-factor between natural gas with and without saturated water vapor indicates that the former shows a higher Z-factor than the latter.Furthermore,Peng-Robinson,Hall-Yarborough,and Soave-Benedict-Webb-Rubin equations of state(EoS)are used for the calculation of Z-factor of high CO2content natural gas with and without water vapor. The optimal binary interaction parameters(BIP)for PR EoS are presented. The measured Z-factor is compared with the calculated Z-factor based on three models, which shows that PR EoS combined with van der Waals mixing rule for gas without water and Huron-Vidal mixing rule for water-saturated gas,are in good agreement with the experimental data.
摘要Natural gases containing sour components exhibit different gas compressibility factor (Z) behavior than do sweet gases. Finally, a new corrective term related to the mole fractions of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide is developed.
摘要This paper presents a semi-analytical method to solve one dimensional consolidation problem by taking consideration of varied compressibility of soil under cyclic loading. The results showed that by taking the variable compressibility into account, the rate of consolidation of soil was greater than the one predicted by conventional consolidation theory.

摘要The accurate measurement on the compressibility and thermal expansion coefficients of density standard liquid at 2329kg/m3(DSL-2329) plays an important role in the quality control for silicon single crystal manufacturing. The compressibility and thermal expansion coefficients were measured, as 8.5′10–4 K–1 and 5.4′10–10 Pa–1, respectively.
