The structural integrity of multi-pass welded austenitic stainless steel pipes is significantly influenced by the synergistic effect of multi-scale residual stresses.Macroscopic(TypeⅠ)stresses drive distortion and stress corrosion cracking(SCC),while microscopic(TypeⅡ)stresses,arising from intergranular incompatibility,control micro-damage initiation.However,due to limitations of traditional techniques,such as lack of microscopic resolution or difficulty in handling large components,the spatial distribution of stresses within the complex heat-affected zone(HAZ)remains difficult to obtain experimentally.This study applies synchrotron radiation-based Double Exposure Method(DEM)to directly measure and decouple TypeⅠand TypeⅡresidual stress fields in multi-pass welded SUS316 steel pipe.High-resolution spatial distribution maps of the two decoupled stress types in the HAZ are presented.The results reveal a highly heterogeneous and complementary distribution:TypeⅠstress exhibits a typical macroscopic gradient,while TypeⅡstress shows strong local variations at the grain scale,especially in the microstructure transition region near the fusion boundary.The results further show that the initiation of SCC is governed by local TypeⅡstresses,whereas subsequent crack propagation is driven by far-field TypeⅠstresses.This experimental insight into the decoupled multi-scale stress state provides a direct pathway for accurately assessing weld integrity and clarifying the drivers of SCC in critical industrial components such as nuclear power plants. 展开更多

Path planning for recovery is studied on the engineering background of double unmanned surface vehicles(USVs)towing oil booms for oil spill recovery.Given the influence of obstacles on the sea,the improved artificial potential field(APF)method is used for path planning.For addressing the two problems of unreachable target and local minimum in the APF,three improved algorithms are proposed by combining the motion performance constraints of the double USV system.These algorithms are then combined as the final APF-123 algorithm for oil spill recovery.Multiple sets of simulation tests are designed according to the flaws of the APF and the process of oil spill recovery.Results show that the proposed algorithms can ensure the system’s safety in tracking oil spills in a complex environment,and the speed is increased by more than 40%compared with the APF method. 展开更多

The present study investigates the flow,heat,and mass transfer analysis in the bioconvection of nanofluid containing motile gyrotactic microorganisms through a semi-porous curved oscillatory channel with a magnetic field.These microorganisms produce density gradients by swimming,which induces macroscopic convection flows in the fluid.This procedure improves the mass and heat transfer,illustrating the interaction between biological activity and fluid dynamics.Furthermore,instead of considering traditional Fourier's and Fick's law the energy and concentration equations are developed by incorporating Cattaneo-Christov double diffusion theory.Moreover,to examine the influence of thermophoresis and Brownian diffusions in the fluid we have adopted the Buongiorno nanofluid model.Due to the oscillation of the surface of the channel,the mathematical development of the considered flow problem is obtained in the form of partial differential equations via the curvilinear coordinate system.The convergent series solution of the governing flow equations is obtained after applying the homotopy analysis method(HAM).The effects of different pertinent flow parameters on velocity,motile microorganism density distribution,concentration,pressure,temperature,and skin friction coefficient are examined and discussed in detail with the help of graphs and tables.It is observed during the current study that the density of microorganisms is enhanced for higher values of Reynolds number,Peclet number,radius of curvature variable,and Lewis number. 展开更多

We present a gain adaptive tuning method for fiber Raman amplifier(FRA) using two-stage neural networks(NNs) and double weights updates. After training the connection weights of two-stage NNs separately in training phase, the connection weights of the unified NN are updated again in verification phase according to error between the predicted and target gains to eliminate the inherent error of the NNs. The simulation results show that the mean of root mean square error(RMSE) and maximum error of gains are 0.131 d B and 0.281 d B, respectively. It shows that the method can realize adaptive adjustment function of FRA gain with high accuracy. 展开更多

Reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)is a novel meta-material which can form a smart radio environment by dynamically altering reflection directions of the impinging electromagnetic waves.In the prior literature,the inter-RIS links which also contribute to the performance of the whole system are usually neglected when multiple RISs are deployed.In this paper we investigate a general double-RIS assisted multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)wireless communication system under spatially correlated non line-of-sight propagation channels,where the cooperation of the double RISs is also considered.The design objective is to maximize the achievable ergodic rate based on full statistical channel state information(CSI).Specifically,we firstly present a closedform asymptotic expression for the achievable ergodic rate by utilizing replica method from statistical physics.Then a full statistical CSI-enabled optimal design is proposed which avoids high pilot training overhead compared to instantaneous CSI-enabled design.To further reduce the signal processing overhead and lower the complexity for practical realization,a common-phase scheme is proposed to design the double RISs.Simulation results show that the derived asymptotic ergodic rate is quite accurate even for small-sized antenna arrays.And the proposed optimization algorithm can achieve substantial gain at the expense of a low overhead and complexity.Furthermore,the cooperative double-RIS assisted MIMO framework is proven to achieve superior ergodic rate performance and high communication reliability under harsh propagation environment. 展开更多

This paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams,which are all constructed from functionally graded porous(FGP)materials.The strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force are calculated.Additionally,a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices,along with the force vector.The curved and straight beams are discretized,and their assembled stiffness,mass matrices,and force vectors,are obtained.Continuity conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure.Subsequently,the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined.The accuracy of the mathematical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing literature and commercial software ANSYS,demonstrating excellent agreement.Furthermore,a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure. 展开更多

In the traditional strength reduction method,the cohesion and the friction angle adopt the same reduction parameter,resulting in equivalent proportional reduction.This method does not consider the different effects of the cohesion and friction angle on the stability of the same slope and is defective to some extent.Regarding this defect,a strength reduction method based on double reduction parameters,which adopts different reduction parameters,is proposed.The core of the double-parameter reduction method is the matching reduction principle of the slope with different angles.This principle is represented by the ratio of the reduction parameter of the cohesion to that of the friction angle,described as η.With the increase in the slopeangle,ηincreases; in particular,when the slope angle is 45°,tηis 1.0.Through the matching reduction principle,different safety margin factors can be calculated for the cohesion and friction angle.In combination with these two safety margin factors,a formula for calculating the overall safety factor of the slope is proposed,reflecting the different contributions of the cohesion and friction angle to the slope stability.Finally,it is shown that the strength reduction method based on double reduction parameters acquires a larger safety factor than the classic limit equilibrium method,but the calculation results are very close to those obtained by the limit equilibrium method. 展开更多

The core of strength reduction method(SRM) involves finding a critical strength curve that happens to make the slope globally fail and a definition of factor of safety(FOS). A new double reduction method, including a detailed calculation procedure and a definition of FOS for slope stability was developed based on the understanding of SRM. When constructing the new definition of FOS, efforts were made to make sure that it has concise physical meanings and fully reflects the shear strength of the slope. Two examples, slopes A and B with the slope angles of 63° and 34° respectively, were given to verify the method presented. It is found that, for these two slopes, the FOSs from original strength reduction method are respectively 1.5% and 38% higher than those from double reduction method. It is also found that the double reduction method predicts a deeper potential slide line and a larger slide mass. These results show that on one hand, the double reduction method is comparative to the traditional methods and is reasonable, and on the other hand, the original strength reduction method may overestimate the safety of a slope. The method presented is advised to be considered as an additional option in the practical slope stability evaluations although more useful experience is required. 展开更多

Wing sail generates not only propulsion but also lateral force and heeling moment. The latter two will affect the navigation status and bring resistance. Double sail can effectively reduce the center of wind pressure and heeling moment. In order to study the effect of distance between two sails, airfoil and attack angle on the total lift coefficient of double sail propulsion system, pressure coefficient distribution and lift coefficient calculation model have been established based on vortex panel method. By using the basic finite solution, the fluid dynamic forces on the two-dimensional sails are computed.The results show that, the distance in the range of 0 to 1 time chord length, when using the same airfoil in the fore and aft sail, the total lift coefficient of the double sail increases with the increase of distance, finally reaches a stable value in the range of one to three times chord length. Lift coefficients of thicker airfoils are more sensitive to the change of distance. The thicker the airfoil, the longer distance is required of the total lift coefficient toward stable.When different airfoils are adopted in fore and aft sail, the total lift coefficient increases with the increase of the thickness of aft sail. The smaller the thickness difference is, the more sensitive to the distance change the lift coefficient is. The thinner the fore sail is, the lower the influence will be on the lift coefficient of aft sail. 展开更多

The calculation of the factor of safety(FOS)is an important means of slope evaluation.This paper proposed an improved double strength reductionmethod(DRM)to analyze the safety of layered slopes.The physical properties of different soil layers of the slopes are different,so the single coefficient strength reduction method(SRM)is not enough to reflect the actual critical state of the slopes.Considering that the water content of the soil in the natural state is the main factor for the strength of the soil,the attenuation law of shear strength of clayey soil changing with water content is fitted.This paper also establishes the functional relationship between different reduction coefficients.Then,a USDFLD subroutine is programmed using the secondary development function of finite element software.Controlling the relationship between field variables and calculation time realizes double strength reduction applicable to the layered slope.Finally,by comparing the calculation results of different examples,it is proved that the stress and displacement distribution of the critical slope state obtained by the improved method is more realistic,and the calculated safety factor is more reliable.The newly proposedmethod considers the difference of intensity attenuation between different soil layers under natural conditions and avoids the disadvantage of the strength reduction method with uniform parameters,which provides a new idea and method for stability analysis of layered and complex slopes. 展开更多

In this article, the fractional derivatives in the sense of modified Riemann-Liouville derivative and the Exp-function method are employed for constructing the exact solutions of nonlinear time fractional partial differential equations in mathematical physics. As a result, some new exact solutions for them are successfully established. It is indicated that the solutions obtained by the Exp-function method are reliable, straightforward and effective method for strongly nonlinear fractional partial equations with modified Riemann-Liouville derivative by Jumarie's. Lithium-ion(Li-ion) battery and lithium-sulfur(Li-S) battery have attracted significant attention as promising components for large-scale energy storage because of high theoretical capacity of Li,excellent energy density or environmental friendness for two kinds of batteries.However,there still exist some respective obstacles for commercial applications,such as limited theoretical capacity,high cost and low conductivity of Li-ion cells or shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides of Li-S cells.As typical twodimensional materials,layered double hydroxides(LDHs) exhibit excellent potential in the field of energy storage due to facile tunability of composition,structure and morphology as well as convenient composite and strong catalytic properties.Consequently,various LDHs toward novel separators or interlayers,cathodes,anodes,and interesting catalytic templates are researched to resolve these challenges.In this review,the recent progress for LDHs applied in Li-ion batteries and Li-S batteries including the synthesis methods,designs and applications is presented and reviewed.Meanwhile,the existing challenges and future perspectives associated with material designs and practical applications of LDHs for these two classes of cells are discussed.WeWe hope that the review can attract more attention and inspire more profound researches toward the LDH-based electrochemical materials for energy storage. 展开更多

The present research is focused on the numerical crack coalescence analysis of the micro-cracks and cracks produced during the cutting action of TBM disc cutters. The linear elastic fracture mechanics(LEFM) concepts and the maximum tangential stress criterion are used to investigate the micro crack propagation and its direction underneath the excavating discs. A higher order displacement discontinuity method with quadratic displacement discontinuity elements is used to estimate the stress intensity factors near the crack tips. Rock cutting mechanisms under single and double type discs are simulated by the proposed numerical method.The main purposes of the present modeling are to simulate the chip formation process of indented rocks by single and double discs.The effects of specific disc parameters(except speed) on the thrust force Ft, the rolling force Fr, and the specific energy ES are investigated. It has been shown that the specific energy(energy required to cut through a unit volume of rock) of the double disc is less than that of the single disc. Crack propagation in rocks under disc cutters is numerically modeled and the optimum ratio of disc spacing S to penetration depth Pd(i.e. S/Pd ratio) of about 10 is obtained, which is in good agreement with the theoretical and experimental results cited in the literature. 展开更多

The results showed that the intrinsic coercivity and density of sin- tered Nd-Fe-B magnets increased gradually with the increase in Dy content, and the double-alloy powder mixed method could obtain high intrinsic coercivity Nd-Fe-B magnets with good crystallographic alignment and microstructure. The bending strength of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets declined, and the Rockwell hardness of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets first declined, and then increased with the in- crease in Dy content. The microstructure showed that there existed the phenomenon that the Dy element diffused into main phase dur- ing sintering process, and the distribution of Dy content in main phase had some variation in homogeneity as a result of incomplete reaction between the double-alloy powder types. 展开更多

Drug delivery by nanocarriers requires characterizations of suitable particle size, high drug loading and safety. In this work, we prepared an amphiphilic dendrimer modified PEG-PLA mixed nanoparticles(NPs) by a double emulsion-solvent evaporation(DESE) method. The particle size and drug encapsulation efficacy(EE) were compared to evaluate and optimize the preparation parameters. The mixed NPs had average size ranging from(102±1) nm to(137±5) nm, and the zeta potential turned to positive with incorporation of the amphiphilic dendrimer. The NPs showed different EE of docetaxel(DTX) and paclitaxel(PTX) with higher affinity to more lipophilic PTX. The blank mixed NPs showed little cytotoxicity, and the DTX-loaded NPs could effectively facilitate the antiproliferation activity on PC-3 cells. The NPs could be used as an effective drug delivery system, and its anti-tumor effect is worthy of further study. 展开更多
