To address challenges in pedestrian detection within dense scenes,including high crowd density,severe occlusion,and overlapping individuals,an improved you only look once(YOLO)-based algorithm is proposed.First,deform...To address challenges in pedestrian detection within dense scenes,including high crowd density,severe occlusion,and overlapping individuals,an improved you only look once(YOLO)-based algorithm is proposed.First,deformable convolutions are employed to replace standard convolutions,enhancing the model’s adaptability to variations in shape and appearance under occlusions.Second,a multi-dimensional attention module is designed to emphasize critical local regions and extract more precise feature information.Lastly,a diagonal difference intersection-over-union(IoU)loss function is introduced,which incorporates a measure of the Euclidean distance difference between the main diagonal points of predicted and ground truth bounding boxes,thereby enhancing detection accuracy and regression performance.Experimental results demonstrate that the enhanced algorithm achieves a mean average precision at IoU=0.5(mAP50)of 75.1%on the public dense pedestrian dataset WiderPerson,an improvement of 1.8%over the original YOLOv5 model,showcasing superior detection performance.展开更多

The in-plane dynamic crushing behavior of re-entrant honeycomb is analyzed and compared with the conventional hexagon topology.Detailed deformation modes along two orthogonal directions are examined,where a parametric...The in-plane dynamic crushing behavior of re-entrant honeycomb is analyzed and compared with the conventional hexagon topology.Detailed deformation modes along two orthogonal directions are examined,where a parametric study of the effect of impact velocity and cell wall aspect ratio is performed.An analytical formula of the dynamic crushing strength is then deduced based on the periodic collapse mechanism of cell structures.Comparisons with the finite element results validate the effectiveness of the proposed analytical method.Numerical results also reveal higher plateau stress of re-entrant honeycomb over conventional hexagon topology,implying better energy absorption properties.The underlying physical understanding of the results is emphasized,where the auxetic effect(negative Poisson's ratio) induced in the re-entrant topology is believed to be responsible for this superior impact resistance.展开更多

The differences between city intelligence in China and the "smart city" concept in o...This study provides a definition for urban big data while exploring its features and applications of Chi- na's city intelligence. The differences between city intelligence in China and the "smart city" concept in other countries are compared to highlight and contrast the unique definition and model for China's city intelligence in this paper. Furthermore, this paper examines the role of urban big data in city intel- ligence by showing that it not only serves as the cornerstone of this trend as it also plays a core role in the diffusion of city intelligence technology and serves as an inexhaustible resource for the sustained development of city intelligence. This study also points out the challenges of shaping and developing of China's urban big data. Considering the supporting and core role that urban big data plays in city intel- ligence, the study then expounds on the key points of urban big data, including infrastructure support, urban governance, public services, and economic and industrial development. Finally, this study points out that the utility of city intelligence as an ideal policy tool for advancing the goals of China's urban de- velopment. In conclusion, it is imperative that China make full use of its unique advantages-including using the nation's current state of development and resources, geographical advantages, and good hu- man relations-in subjective and objective conditions to promote the development of city intelligence through the proper application of urban big data.展开更多
