Adverse environmental conditions often present challenges for organisms;however,they can also serve as selective pressures that propel adaptive evolution.In this study,we present the first chromosome-scale genome of Ipomoea pes-caprae L.(IPC),an exceptionally salt-tolerant plant species of considerable significance due to its medicinal,ecological,and biological attributes.The haplotype IPC genome comprises 15 chromosomes spanning 1.05 GB and includes 34,077 protein-coding genes,exhibiting an impressive completeness of 97.4%.Comparative genomic analysis with non-salt-tolerant Ipomoea species has highlighted the prevalence of highly duplicated sequences and genes within the IPC genome.Analysis of gene ortholog expansion,when compared in those Ipomoea species,reveals that expanded TRD(transposed duplication)and DSD(dispersed duplication)genes are predominantly associated with functions related to salt tolerance.Furthermore,our findings suggest strong correlations between DSD and TRD geness and transposable element(TE)events,implying that TE-induced expansion of repeat genes is a driving force behind gene diversification.Moreover,a time-course RNA-seq analysis unveils the salt response of IPC roots and leaves,showing the involvement of several key salt-tolerance genes exhibiting copy number expansion.These include genes responsible for ion uptake,transportation,and sequestration into vacuoles,as well as genes responsible for the maintenance of DNA and chromosome stability.Given the significant induction of TE events by salt stress in plant genomes,we propose a putative mechanism for the rapid evolution of salt tolerance in IPC.Additionally,this study delves into the metabolic pathway and regulatory mechanisms of Caffeoylquinic acids(CQAs),a medicinal component found in IPC. 展开更多

The purposeful and sensible fabrication of novel binary-shelled photocatalysts is highly attractive for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution.In this work,ZnIn2S4(ZIS)nanosheets were induced to grow on a framework of Pd-porphyrin MOFs(Pd-PMOFs)to construct novel binary-shelled nanotubes(Pd-PMOFs@ZIS)via a multistep solvothermal process.On account of the abundant active sites,well-matched band gaps,strong visible light harvesting capability and outstanding charge migration efficiency,the assembled Pd-PMOFs@ZIS heterostructures exhibited prominently enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen generation activity.Concretely,the hydrogen evolution rate of the optimized sample was up to 8200.25μmol g−1 h−1 under visible light irradiation,which was approximately 24.07 and 13.73 times larger than those of individual ZIS and Pd-PMOFs,respectively.More importantly,density functional theory(DFT)calculations demonstrated that the fabrication of the heterojunctions established electron transport channels with Pd and In ions showing strong covalent bonding,and the electrons were converged and consumed at the interfaces between Pd-PMOFs and ZIS.Specifically,the transfer pathway of electrons is from Pd-PMOFs to ZIS.Our work provides a convenient and advanced prototype for synthesizing binary heterojunction photocatalysts with superior charge separation and transfer efficiency. 展开更多

Transition metal phosphides(TMPs)have gradually developed as star catalysts in the field of electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution.In this work,a honeycomb porous bimetallic phosphide embedded in a N,P-dual-doped carbon composite(abbr.:MoP/MoNiP@NPC-800)was prepared by one-step high-temperature pyrolysis of polyoxometalate(POM)[Ni(2,2’-bipy)3][Mo6O19](abbr.:Ni-POM)assisted by NaH2PO2·H2O.The catalyst MoP/MoNiP@NPC-800 exhibits surprising HER activity,by delivering low overpotentials of 50.4/72.6 mV at 10 mA cm-2,small Tafel slopes of 54/74 mV dec-1,and reliable~120 hours stability at 50 mA cm-2,respectively,in 1.0 M KOH and 0.5 M H2SO4.The excellent HER catalytic activity is attributed to the synergistic effect of ample MoP and MoNiP dual active sites,which result from the N,P-dual-doped carbon layer protecting MoP and MoNiP from agglomeration and corrosion,and the 3D honeycomb porous structure increasing the number of exposed active sites and facilitating mass transfer.Theoretical calculations further prove that the most active sites for the HER are the P sites of the MoP and MoNiP dual-active centers.This study provides an effective strategy for the synthesis of bimetallic phosphides using POMs as sacrificial templates. 展开更多
