This paper presents a predefined-time controller for Multiple Space transportation Robots System (MSRS), which can be applied in on-orbit assembly tasks to transport modules to pre-assembly configuration quickly. Firstly, to simplify the analysis and design of predefined-time controller, a Predefined-time Stability Criterion is proposed in the form of Composite Lyapunov Function (CLF-PSC). Besides simplicity, the CLF-PSC also has the advantage of less conservativeness due to utilization of initial state information. Secondly, a concept of Lp-Norm-Normalized Sign Function (LPNNSF) is proposed based on the CLF-PSC. Different from traditional norm-normalized sign function, the Lp-norm of LPNNSF can be selected arbitrarily according to practical control task requirements, which means that the proposed LPNNSF is more generalized and more convenient for calculation. Thirdly, a predefined-time disturbance observer and predefined-time controller are designed based on the LPNNSF. The observer has the property of predefined-time convergence to achieve quicker and more accurate estimation of the lumped disturbance. The controller has less control input and chattering phenomenon than traditional predefined-time controller. In addition, by introducing the observer into the controller, the closed-loop system enjoys high precision and strong robustness. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed controller is verified by numerical simulations. By employing the controller, the MSRS can carry assembly modules to the desired pre-assembly configuration accurately within predefined time. 展开更多

A generalized multiple-mode prolate spherical wave functions (PSWFs) multi-carrier with index modulation approach is proposed with the purpose of improving the spectral efficiency of PSWFs multi-carrier systems. The proposed method,based on the optimized multi-index modulation, does not limit the number of signals in the first and second constellations and abandons the concept of limiting the number of signals in different constellations. It successfully increases the spectrum efficiency of the system while expanding the number of modulation symbol combinations and the index dimension of PSWFs signals. The proposed method outperforms the PSWFs multi-carrier index modulation method based on optimized multiple indexes in terms of spectrum efficiency, but at the expense of system computational complexity and bit error performance. For example, with n=10 subcarriers and a bit error rate of 1×10-5,spectral efficiency can be raised by roughly 12.4%. 展开更多

In current memristor-based neuromorphic computing research,several studies face the challenge of realizing only a single function at a time or having isolated functions.This limitation is particularly evident when simulating biological cognition,as the overall synergy between multiple cognitive functions is difficult to represent.In this work,a high-performance heterojunction memristor is presented at first.The memristor-based neural network and functional circuit are further implemented to realize and integrate multiple cognitive functions.Specifically,the proposed photoelectric memristor has the structure of Ag/ZnO-SnO2/WO3-x/ITO,it exhibits various synaptic behaviors under external modulations,which are characterized by good stability and repeatability.Based on this device,a neural network is built to realize the basic recognition function in biological cognition.The recognition results are translated into different labelled voltage signals and subsequently fed into a memristor-based functional circuit.By leveraging memory characteristics and tunable conductance of the memristor,and controlling the specific circuit functionalities,the input signals are processed to produce different outputs representing various cognitive functions.This methodology allows the realization and integration of recognition,memory,learning,association,relearning,and forgetting into one single system,thereby enabling a more comprehensive and authentic simulation of biological cognition.This work presents a novel memristor and a method for achieving and integrating multiple neuromorphic computing functions within a single system,providing a successful example for achieving complete biological function. 展开更多

This paper investigates impulsive orbital attack-defense(AD)games under multiple constraints and victory conditions,involving three spacecraft:attacker,target,and defender.In the AD scenario,the attacker aims to breach the defender's interception to rendezvous with the target,while the defender seeks to protect the target by blocking or actively pursuing the attacker.Four different maneuvering constraints and five potential game outcomes are incorporated to more accurately model AD game problems and increase complexity,thereby reducing the effectiveness of traditional methods such as differential games and game-tree searches.To address these challenges,this study proposes a multiagent deep reinforcement learning solution with variable reward functions.Two attack strategies,Direct attack(DA)and Bypass attack(BA),are developed for the attacker,each focusing on different mission priorities.Similarly,two defense strategies,Direct interdiction(DI)and Collinear interdiction(CI),are designed for the defender,each optimizing specific defensive actions through tailored reward functions.Each reward function incorporates both process rewards(e.g.,distance and angle)and outcome rewards,derived from physical principles and validated via geometric analysis.Extensive simulations of four strategy confrontations demonstrate average defensive success rates of 75%for DI vs.DA,40%for DI vs.BA,80%for CI vs.DA,and 70%for CI vs.BA.Results indicate that CI outperforms DI for defenders,while BA outperforms DA for attackers.Moreover,defenders achieve their objectives more effectively under identical maneuvering capabilities.Trajectory evolution analyses further illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed variable reward function-driven strategies.These strategies and analyses offer valuable guidance for practical orbital defense scenarios and lay a foundation for future multi-agent game research. 展开更多

Many studies have shown the negative relationship between long term exposure to PM2.5and cardiac dysfunction.Recently,studies have shown that even a single exposure of PM2.5from air sample in permissible range can induce very mild cardiac pathological changes.In the present study,we revisited the toxic effect of PM2.5on rat heart by adopting single and multiple exposure durations.FemaleWistar ratswere exposed to PM2.5at a concentration of 250μg/m3 daily for 3 hr for single(1 day)and multiple(7,14,21 days)durations.The major pathological changes noted in 21 days exposed myocardium comprised of an elevated ST segment(the segment between the S wave and the T wave),development of cardiac fibrosis,hypertrophy,cardiac injury,tissue inflammation and declined cardiac function.With 14 days exposed heart,the electrocardiograms(ECG),data showed insignificantly declined heart rate and an increased QT(the time from the start of the Q wave to the end of the T wave)interval along with mild fibrosis,hypertrophy and lesser number of TUNEL positive cells.On the other hand,single-and 7-days exposure to PM2.5did not impart any significant changes in the myocardium.To determine the reversibility potential of PM2.5induced cardiotoxicity,a washout period of 24 hours was adopted and all observed changes in the myocardium were reversed till day 7,but not in 14-and 21-days exposed samples.Based on the above findings we concluded that PM2.5associated cardiac dysfunction is the cumulative outcome of ineffective cardiac adaptive and repair process that accumulate additively over the time due to prolonged exposure durations. 展开更多

AIM:To determine the diagnostic ability of various visual functions in patients with multiple sclerosis(MS)with and without optic neuritis(ON).METHODS:In this cross-sectional study,we assessed and compared refractive error,visual acuity(VA),and contrast sensitivity(CS)between patients with MS and a matched control group of healthy individuals.The MS patients were further categorized into those with ON and those without.RESULTS:A total of 133 eyes from 133 participants were assessed,including 66 individuals diagnosed with MS.The mean ages for the MS group and the healthy control group were 37.5±4.27y and 38.45±4.60y,respectively(P=0.346).Among the 66 patients with MS,18 had ON.The presence of MS was associated with a decrease in best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and spherical component of refractive error(P0.05).MS was linked to decreased CS at spatial frequencies of 6 and 18 cycles per degree(CPD;P-0.75 D;71.21%]and CS at spatial frequency of 6 CPD(AC≤1.56;72.22%),respectively.Conversely,the highest specificity for these diagnostic measures was associated with BCVA(AC>0 logMAR;97.01%)and CS at a spatial frequency of 12 CPD(AC≤0.60;93.75%),respectively.CONCLUSION:MS significantly affects refractive error and CS,with ON further reducing CS.Assessing these visual parameters can improve MS monitoring and management. 展开更多

Fault diagnosis occupies a pivotal position within the domain of machine and equipment management.Existing methods,however,often exhibit limitations in their scope of application,typically focusing on specific types of signals or faults in individual mechanical components while being constrained by data types and inherent characteristics.To address the limitations of existing methods,we propose a fault diagnosis method based on graph neural networks(GNNs)embedded with multirelationships of intrinsic mode functions(MIMF).The approach introduces a novel graph topological structure constructed from the features of intrinsic mode functions(IMFs)of monitored signals and their multirelationships.Additionally,a graph-level based fault diagnosis network model is designed to enhance feature learning capabilities for graph samples and enable flexible application across diverse signal sources and devices.Experimental validation with datasets including independent vibration signals for gear fault detection,mixed vibration signals for concurrent gear and bearing faults,and pressure signals for hydraulic cylinder leakage characterization demonstrates the model's adaptability and superior diagnostic accuracy across various types of signals and mechanical systems. 展开更多

Objective:To analyze the effect of intestinal function-recovering decoction on multiple organ dysfunction syndrome in rats,and to investigate a novel solution to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.Methods:Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome was induced in 60 Sprague-Dawley rats by intestinal ischemia-reperfusion combined with cecal ligation and puncture.Then these rats were intragastrically administered physiological saline(group Ⅰ,n=20),ampicillin(group Ⅱ,n=20) or intestinal function-recovering decoction(group Ⅲ,n=20).After treatment, serum malondialdehyde and superoxide dismutase levels were compared among three groups. Simultaneously,bacterial culture of various organ tissues was performed and bacterial and endotoxin translocation were observed.Results:Compared with group 1,serum malondialdehyde, alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase levels were significantly decreased(all P0.05). The rate of bacterial translocation in the groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ was significantly lower than in the group Ⅰ(P0.05). Conclusions:Intestinal function-recovering decoction can significantly reduce endotoxin and bacterial translocation and stabilize enteral oxidative-antioxidative balance. 展开更多

Multiple sclerosis is associated with structural and functional brain alterations leading to cognitive impairments across multiple domains including attention,memory,and the speed of information processing.The hippocampus,which is a brain important structure involved in memory,undergoes microstructural changes in the early stage of multiple sclerosis.In this study,we analyzed hippocampal function and structure in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis and explored correlations between the functional connectivity of the hippocampus to the whole brain,changes in local brain function and microstructure,and cognitive function at rest.We retrospectively analyzed data from 20 relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis patients admitted to the Department of Neurology at the China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University,China,from April 2015 to November 2019.Sixteen healthy volunteers were recruited as the healthy control group.All participants were evaluated using a scale of extended disability status and the Montreal cognitive assessment within 1 week before and after head diffusion tensor imaging and functional magnetic resonance imaging.Compared with the healthy control group,the patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis had lower Montreal cognitive assessment scores and regions of simultaneously enhanced and attenuated whole-brain functional connectivity and local functional connectivity in the bilateral hippocampus.Hippocampal diffusion tensor imaging data showed that,compared with the healthy control group,patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis had lower hippocampal fractional anisotropy values and higher mean diffusivity values,suggesting abnormal hippocampal structure.The left hippocampus whole-brain functional connectivity was negatively correlated with the Montreal cognitive assessment score(r=-0.698,P=0.025),and whole-brain functional connectivity of the right hippocampus was negatively correlated with extended disability status scale score(r=-0.649,P=0.042).The mean diffusivity value of the left hippocampus was negatively correlated with the Montreal cognitive assessment score(r=-0.729,P=0.017)and positively correlated with the extended disability status scale score(r=0.653,P=0.041).The right hippocampal mean diffusivity value was positively correlated with the extended disability status scale score(r=0.684,P=0.029).These data suggest that the functional connectivity and presence of structural abnormalities in the hippocampus in patients with relapse-remission multiple sclerosis are correlated with the degree of cognitive function and extent of disability.This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University,China(approval No.201702202)on February 22,2017. 展开更多

Function allocation is one of the necessary stages in the design course of man-machine systems since appropriate function allocation makes the whole system more effective,reliable and inexpensive.Therefore,our research mainly focuses on the problems of function allocation between man and machine in man-machine systems,analyses each capability advantage of man and machine according to their respective inherent characteristics and makes a comparison between them.In view of highly uncertain characteristics of decision attribute value in the practical process,we introduce the uncertain linguistic multiple attribute decision making(ULMADM)method in the function allocation process.Meanwhile,we also use the uncertain extended weighted arithmetic averaging(UEWAA)method to determine the automation level range of the operator functions.Then,we eventually estab-lish the automation level of man-machine function allocation by using the multi-attribute decision making algorithm,which is combined by UEWAA and uncertain linguistic hybrid aggregation(ULHA)operators.Finally,an example about function allocation is given,that is,fault diagnosis in the cockpit of civil aircraft.The final result of the example demonstrates that the proposed method about function allocation is feasible and effective. 展开更多

Anti-B cell maturation antigen(BCMA)chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)T-cell therapyis effective and well-tolerated for refractory or relapsed multiple myeloma(RRMM).The purposcof the present study was to analyze efficacy in RRMM patients with renal impairment treated byanti-BCMA CAR-T cell therapy.A total of 59 RRMM patients were selected,and divided intoimpaired renal function(lRF)group[basclinc cstimated giomerular filtration rate(eSFR)<90 m/min/1.73 m^2(n=18)]and normal renal function(NRF)group(baseline eGFR≥90 mL/min/1.73 m,n=41).For patients with IRF,eGFR at the 6th month post-CAR-T cells infusion was significantlyhigher than the baseline(P<0.05).The multivariate analysis showed that light chain type and beta-2 micro-globulin(bcta-2M)were associated factors with the decrease of serum creatinine.Medianprogression-free survival(PFS)in the NRF group and IRF group was 266 days and 181 daysrespectively.Overall survival(OS)in the NRF group and lRF group was 877 days and 238 daysrespectively.There was no significant difference in the objective response rate(ORR)between thelRF group and the NRF group.It is suggested that CAR-T cells therapy could improve the renalfunction during the treatment of RRMM.The renal function could be more significantly improvedin RRMM patients with light chain type than with other types. 展开更多

To study the characteristics and pathogenesis of gut barrier damage following multiple firearm injuries in a porcine model. Methods. Twenty four small pigs were divided into 4 groups: control group (n=6, group C), group H (n=6, gunshot induced tangential fracture of parietal bone), group L (n=6, gunshot induced comminuted fracture of bilateral femora) and group M (n=6, combined group H+L). Gastric intramucosal pH (pHi), plasma endotoxin levels in portal vein, and plasma D lactate levels were measured and blood samples were cultured at different intervals after trauma. The animals were sacrificed at 72 h following trauma and intestinal tissues were harvested for pathological examination and diamine oxidase (DAO) activity measurement. Results. In group M at 72 h, pHi was significantly lower than that of group H and L (P< 0.01), and plasma endotoxin level was significantly higher than that of group H (P< 0.01) and group L (P< 0.05). Simultaneously, in groupM, D lactate level was markedly higher than that of group H (P< 0.01), and incidence of positive blood culture was much higher than that of group H and L (P<0.05). Necrosis and exfoliation were revealed at ileum villus top in all traumagroups, especially in group M, in which ileum DAO activity declined most significantly as well. Conclusion. Multiple trauma is prone to cause gastrointestinal ischemia even without hemorrhagic shock. The clinical data of 1098 patients with malignant esophageal tumors from 1961 to 1992 were retrospectively analyzed. The deletion of fragile histamine triplet (FHIT) gene (a tumor suppressor gene) in 30 fresh esophageal samples obtained in 1996 was detected with PCR and RT PCR method. The resectability was raised gradually and the operative morbidity and mortality decreased year by year, but there was no significant improvement on the postoperative 5 year survival rate. Delayed diagnosis and irradical resection influenced the long term survival. The deletion of cDNA of FHIT gene was 64.2%in esophageal cancer and 20%in the resected margin of the cancer. We believe that high grade atypical hyperplasia in esophageal epithelium and deletion of FHIT gene in esophageal cancer and its resected margin are pathological and molecular markers for early diagnosis of esophageal cancer respectively, and the latter may be one of the molecular markers for the resection. Early diagnosis and treatment, radical resection, and postoperative nutritional support are very important for the improvement of the postoperative survival time of the patients. 展开更多

The therapeutic effects of intensive insulin therapy in treatment of traumatic shock combined with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) were investigated. A total of 114 patients with traumatic shock combined with MODS were randomly divided into two groups: control group (n=56) treated with conventional therapy, and intensive insulin therapy group (n=58) treated with conventional therapy plus continuous insulin pumping to control the blood glucose level at range of 4.4-6.1 mmol/L. White blood cells (WBC) counts, prothrombin time (PT), serum creatinine (SCr), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), serum albumin and PaO2 were measured before and at the day 1, 3, 5, 7 and 14 after treatment. The incidence of gastrointestinal dysfunction, the incidence of MODS, hospital stay and the mortality were also observed and compared. After intensive insulin therapy, the WBC counts, SCr, ALT and PT were significantly reduced (P0.05), but the level of serum albumin was significantly increased (P0.05) at the day 3, 5, 7 and 14. In the meantime, the PaO2 was significantly elevated at the day 3, 5 and 7 (P0.01) after intensive insulin therapy. The incidence of gastrointestinal dysfunction, the incidence of MODS, the length of hospital stay and the mortality were markedly decreased (P0.01). The results suggest early treatment with intensive insulin therapy is effective for traumatic shock combined with MODS and can decrease the length of hospital stay and the mortality. 展开更多

Multiple-response optimization for melting process of aluminum melting furnace based on response surface methodology with desirability function 认领 引用 被引量:3

To reduce the fuel consumption and emissions and also enhance the molten aluminum quality, a mathematical model with user-developed melting model and burning capacity model, were established according to the features of melting process of regenerative aluminum melting furnaces. Based on validating results by heat balance test for an aluminum melting furnace, CFD (computational fluid dynamics) technique, in association with statistical experimental design were used to optimize the melting process of the aluminum melting furnace. Four important factors influencing the melting time, such as horizontal angle between burners, height-to-radius ratio, natural gas mass flow and air preheated temperature, were identified by PLACKETT-BURMAN design. A steepest descent method was undertaken to determine the optimal regions of these factors. Response surface methodology with BOX-BEHNKEN design was adopted to further investigate the mutual interactions between these variables on RSD (relative standard deviation) of aluminum temperature, RSD of furnace temperature and melting time. Multiple-response optimization by desirability function approach was used to determine the optimum melting process parameters. The results indicate that the interaction between the height-to-radius ratio and horizontal angle between burners affects the response variables significantly. The predicted results show that the minimum RSD of aluminum temperature (12.13%), RSD of furnace temperature (18.50%) and melting time (3.9 h) could be obtained under the optimum conditions of horizontal angle between burners as 64°, height-to-radius ratio as 0.3, natural gas mass flow as 599 m3/h, and air preheated temperature as 639 ℃. These predicted values were further verified by validation experiments. The excellent correlation between the predicted and experimental values confirms the validity and practicability of this statistical optimum strategy. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Multiple sclerosis(MS)is known to affect many sensory systems,yet most auditory research in MS has focused on the afferent pathways,with relatively few studies examining efferent function.The brainstem is a common site for MS plaques,and the medial olivocochlear(MOC)system is located in the superior olivary complex(SOC)of the brainstem.The cochlear nuclei are also involved in the MOC reflex arc.Additionally,the temporal cortex can modulate the SOC and cochlear nucleus,so lesions in the brainstem or temporal cortex may affect the MOC reflex in MS.AIM To investigate efferent auditory system activity in patients with multiple sclerosis via the MOC reflex.METHODS The study included 50 patients with MS and 50 healthy controls.Patients with MS were divided into three subgroups according to cranial magnetic resonance imaging findings:Patients with brainstem lesions(Group 1,n=20);patients with temporal cortex lesions without brainstem involvement(Group 2,n=20);and patients without any lesions in the brainstem or temporal cortex(Group 3,n=10).Tympanometry,acoustic stapedial reflex thresholds,pure-tone audiometry,and transientevoked otoacoustic emission(TEOAE)tests(with and without contralateral noise)were performed for all participants.RESULTS There was no significant difference in pure-tone hearing thresholds or baseline TEOAE amplitudes between the MS and control groups,indicating normal cochlear function in patients with MS;however,MOC reflex suppression was significantly reduced in patients with MS compared to controls(P=0.021).In particular,Group 1(MS with brainstem lesions)showed the lowest mean suppression values,which was significantly lower than that of Group 2 and the control group(P=0.002).By contrast,Group 2 and Group 3 did not significantly differ from controls.Additionally,patients with MS exhibited a sex difference in MOC function:Male patients had significantly lower suppression compared to female patients both within Group 1 and in the MS group as a whole.CONCLUSION The findings indicate that the efferent auditory system(specifically the MOC reflex)is affected by MS.MOC reflex activity was most significantly decreased in patients with MS with brainstem lesions,while temporal cortex lesions alone did not appear to notably impair the MOC reflex.Diminished MOC activity may underlie various auditory difficulties in patients with MS(e.g.,hearing in noise),and loss of efferent suppression could contribute to symptoms such as hyperacusis or tinnitus in this population.Further studies are needed to better understand the relationship between MOC dysfunction and auditory symptoms in MS,as well as the potential diagnostic value of MOC testing in MS. 展开更多

The Schmidt method is adopted to investigate the fracture problem of multiple parallel symmetric and permeable finite length mode-III cracks in a functionally graded piezoelectric/piezomagnetic material plane. This problem is formulated into dual integral equations, in which the unknown variables are the displacement jumps across the crack surfaces. In order to obtain the dual integral equations, the displacement jumps across the crack surfaces are directly expanded as a series of Jacobi polynomials. The results show that the stress, the electric displacement, and the magnetic flux intensity factors of cracks depend on the crack length, the functionally graded parameter, and the distance among the multiple parallel cracks. The crack shielding effect is also obviously presented in a functionally graded piezoelectric/piezomagnetic material plane with mul- tiple parallel symmetric mode-III cracks. 展开更多

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disorder of the central nervous system characterized by episodic and progressive neurologic dysfunction resulting from inflammatory and autoimmune reactions. The underlying pathogenesis of MS remains largely unclear. However, it is currently accepted as a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease. Among other clinical manifestations, sexual dysfunction (SD) is a painful but still underreported and underdiagnosed symptom of the disorder. SD in MS patients may result from a complex set of conditions and may be associated with multiple anatomic, physiologic, biologic, medical and psychological factors. SD arises primarily from lesions affecting the neural pathways involved in physiologic function. In addition, psychological factors, the side effects of medications and physical symptoms such as fatigue, muscular weakness, menstrual changes, pain and concerns about bladder and bowel incontinence may also be involved. Since MS primarily affects young people, SD secondary to MS may have a great impact on quality of life. Thus, maintaining a healthy sexual life with MS is an important priority. The treatment of SD requires multidisciDlinarv teamwork and coooeration amone specialists,individual patients, partners and the society. 展开更多

In the entedc nervous system, ICC and smooth muscle cells are connected in a network to form a special functional unit. Many gastrointestinal motility dysfunction diseases are associated with damage to this network.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the morphological changes of intestinal ICC, and to explore the mechanisms underlying gastrointestinal motility dysfunction in rats with MODS.DESIGN, TIME AND SE'I-FING:The randomized, controlled, experiment was performed at the Central Laboratory of the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University of China between June 2007 and March 2009.MATERIALS:Escherichia coli (E. colistrain O127 H6) and bovine serum albumin were purchased from Sigma, USA.METHODS:A total of 40 Wistar rats were equally and randomly divided into MODS group and control group. Suspension of E. coil strain O127 H6 containing BaSO4 and saline were sterilely injected into the abdominal cavity of rats in the MODS and control groups, respectively.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Immunohistochemical double-staining and confocal laser scanning microscopy were used to observe the morphological changes in intestinal cholinergic nerves and ICC in the deep muscular plexus network. Electron microscopy was employed to evaluate the ultrastructural features of ICC in the deep muscular plexus of rats with MODS.RESULTS:Compared with the control group, the distributions and densities of cholinergicitrergic newes and ICC in the deep muscular plexus were significantly decreased in the MODS group (P 〈 0.01). The enteric nerve-ICC network were disrupted.CONCLUSION:There is ultrastructural injury in the ICC in the deep muscular plexus and enteric nerves of the intestine in rats with MODS, which may be associated with the dysmotility of the gastrointestinal tract in MODS. 展开更多

It has various pharmacological effects, such as relieving cough and preventing asthma. To date,multiple organ dysfunction and rhabdomyolysis caused by moonwort poisoning have not been reported.CASE SUMMARY Here we report four cases of moonwort poisoning that presented with multiple organ dysfunction and rhabdomyolysis accompanied by vomiting, fatigue, and muscle aches. One patient was an adult male, two were adult females, and one was a boy, with an age range of 7–64 years. The adults were treated with hemoperfusion and symptomatic therapies, while the child was treated with plasma exchange and symptomatic therapies. All four patients recovered.CONCLUSION Blood purification combined with symptomatic treatment may be an effective method for managing multiple organ dysfunction and rhabdomyolysis caused by acute moonwort poisoning. 展开更多

Arecoline,the principal active alkaloid in the areca nut,is known for its ability to induce euphoric sensations.Since ancient times,arecoline has garnered attention for its therapeutic potential in addressing psychiatric disorders and alleviating gastrointestinal ailments.However,in 2020,the International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified arecoline as'probably carcinogenic to humans'(Group 2B carcinogen),supported by compelling mechanistic evidence.The mechanism of action of arecoline has been extensively studied,but the results of these studies are scattered and lack systematic integration and generalization.In this paper,we have systematically summarized the mechanism of arecoline within the oral cavity,central nervous system,cardiovascular system,and digestion system,in terms of both health functions and toxic effects.In addition,we found some concentration-effect relationship between arecoline in the central nervous system and digestive system,i.e.,low doses are beneficial and high doses are harmful.By summarizing the mechanisms of arecoline,this review is poised to provide in-depth and valuable insights into the clinical practice and targeted therapy of arecoline in the future. 展开更多
