The ultracold neutron(UCN)transport code,MCUCN,designed initially for simulating UCN transportation from a solid deuterium(SD_2)source and neutron electric dipole moment experiments,could not simulate UCN storage and transportation in a superfluid4He(SFHe,He-Ⅱ)source accurately.This limitation arose from the absence of an4He upscattering mechanism and the absorption of3He.And the provided source energy distribution in MCUCN is different from that in SFHe source.This study introduced enhancements to MCUCN to address these constraints,explicitly incorporating the4He upscattering effect,the absorption of3He,the loss caused by impurities on converter wall,UCN source energy distribution in SFHe,and the transmission through negative optical potential.Additionally,a Python-based visualization code for intermediate states and results was developed.To validate these enhancements,we systematically compared the simulation results of the Lujan Center Mark3 UCN system by MCUCN and the improved MCUCN code(iMCUCN)with UCNtransport simulations.Additionally,we compared the results of the SUN1 system simulated by MCUCN and iMCUCN with measurement results.The study demonstrates that iMCUCN effectively simulates the storage and transportation of ultracold neutrons in He-Ⅱ. 展开更多

The 72-hour supervised fasting test(72-HSFT)remains the gold standard for investigating fasting hypoglycemia in patients without diabetes,which is a rare but potentially fatal clinical condition.However,testing inaccuracies often lead to diagnostic ambiguities and unnecessary healthcare expenditures.Baseline data collection over 1 year revealed that 66%of 72-HSFT tests at our institution were performed incorrectly,with dynamic hormones such as C-peptide being ordered four times per patient.The goal of this quality improvement project(QIP)was to reduce the frequency of unnecessary or incorrect 72-HSFT for hypoglycemia from 66%to 25%within 24 months.To achieve the goals of the QIP,educational interventions targeting patients,nurses,physicians,and laboratory staff on accurate 72-HSFT were implemented.Further interventions included the introduction of an auto-text protocol in Cerner®,standardization of lab testing via a bundle order set for 72-HSFT,and multiple different models of interactive educational sessions.The project was conducted in the emergency department and the inpatient wards of the medicine department.In a plan-do-study-act 1 cycle,testing inaccuracy was reduced from 66%to 20%,with C-peptide orders reducing from 4 tests to 1.2 tests per patient.In plan-do-study-act 2,testing inaccuracy dropped to 0%with one C-peptide test ordered per patient.This QIP demonstrates that system-level changes,combined with conventional interventions such as targeted education and advanced technology-based interventions like clinical decision support tools,can significantly improve test accuracy and reduce unnecessary resource utilization in endocrinological diagnostics. 展开更多

Background Dynamic interpersonal therapy(DIT)is a short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy that has been shown to effectively reduce depressive symptoms in patients with major depressive disorder(MDD).In DIT,the depressive symptoms are formulated as responses to impaired mentalisation.DIT aims to alleviate depressive symptoms by improving mentalising.Aims This study aimed to examine the effect of DIT on improving mentalising and the mediating effect of mentalising in changes in depressive symptoms.Methods Outpatients received either DIT combined with antidepressant medication treatment(DIT group)or antidepressant medication treatment alone(ADM group)for 16 weeks.The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD),Patient Health Questionnaire(PHQ)and Reflective Functioning Questionnaire(RFQ)were used.The intention-to-treat principle,mixed linear models,multiple imputation,Pearson's correlation analysis and mediation analysis were conducted.The per-protocol principle was used as sensitivity analysis.Results The DIT group had significantly lower HAMD(least-squares(LS)mean difference=-3.756,p<0.001),PHQ(LS mean difference=-4.188,p<0.001),uncertainty about mental states in the RFQ(RFQ-U,LS mean difference=-2.116,p<0.001)and higher certainty about mental states in the RFQ(RFQ-C,LS mean difference=2.214,p=0.028)scores than the ADM group at post-treatment.The change in RFQ-C was marginally significantly correlated with the change in HAMD(r=-0.218,poretao=0.090),The change in RFQ-U was significantly correlated with the change in HAMD(r=-0.269,poroco-0.024)and the change in PHQ(r=-0.43,Peoretceo l<e0.001).When using RFQ-U as the mediating variable and PHQ as the dependent variable,a significant mediating effect was found(p=0.043,95% confidence interval 0.024 to 1.453).Conclusions The DIT group yielded better outcomes compared with the ADM group in reducing depressive symptoms and improving mentalising.Improvements in mentalising were associated with reductions in depressive symptoms.These findings support that mentalising may contribute to the therapeutic effects of DIT in MDD. 展开更多

To address the interfacial failure caused by insufficient interlaminar bonding in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer(CFRP)composites,an effective electro spinning technique is proposed to prepare the Polyethylene-co-Maleic Anhydride(PEMA)modified Polyvinylidene Fluoride(PVDF)fibers on CF fabrics to improve the flexural performance.Testing results show that the prepared PVDF fibers had various diameters varying from several hundred nanometers to several micrometer and were disordered to form semi-bonded PVDF-CF integrated structure.CFRP composite with PVDF areal density of 0.16 g/m2 yielded the greatest flexural strength of 888.24 MPa and post-impact residual flexural strength of 122.05 MPa,exhibiting 25.1%and 68.6%increments respectively.Fiber trunks of PVDF were relatively stable and fiber ends were free-moved,which made them easier to construct fiber bridging network in situ compared with the fiber agglomeration of directly introducing fiber.The PVDF fibers bridging network at the interlayer could improve brittle epoxy resin,embed interfacial transition region and even penetrate adjacent CF,forming a three-dimensional interlocking that suppressed micro-crack generation and propagation.This contributed to failure modes changing from delamination dominated failure of unreinforced CFRP composites to shear-dominated failure of PVDF-reinforced composites.Overall,electro spinning method could provide an important alternative for manufacturing high-performance laminated FRP composites in industrial field. 展开更多

Background:Sepsis is a life-threatening condition associated with substantial morbidity,mortality,and healthcare utilization.In the emergency department(ED),early recognition and prompt antibiotic administration are essential components of high-quality care.In 2024,compliance with timely antibiotic administration for sepsis in our ED fell below the institutional target,with recurrent delays observed in obstetric and gynecologic(OB-GYN)presentations.Objective:To improve early sepsis recognition and increase the rate of timely antibiotic administration in the ED using a Plan-Do-Check-Act(PDCA)quality improvement framework.Methods:We conducted a single-center quality improvement initiative in the ED of Beijing United Family Hospital.Interventions included implementation of a triage sepsis alert,screening with the National Early Warning Score 2(NEWS2),a standardized sepsis order set,workflow standardization,targeted staff education on atypical and OB-GYN sepsis presentations,and monthly auditand-feedback cycles.The primary outcome was the proportion of ED patients with sepsis or septic shock who received antibiotics within the target time window after recognition.Secondary process measures included time from triage to antibiotic order,time from order to administration,and time from triage to first antibiotic dose.Results:Following implementation,timely antibiotic administration improved from 33%at baseline to 100%from August 2024 through January 2025.Although monthly case numbers were small,sustained full compliance across consecutive months suggested improved process reliability.The mean time from triage to antibiotic order was approximately 5 minutes,the mean time from order to administration was approximately 6 minutes,and the mean time from triage to first antibiotic dose was approximately 11 minutes.Conclusion:A PDCA-based sepsis quality improvement initiative was associated with substantial and sustained improvement in timely antibiotic administration in the ED.Standardized recognition processes,clear escalation pathways,and continuous feedback may improve the reliability of sepsis care,including in atypical presentations such as OB-GYN cases. 展开更多

The effect of alcoholic polyethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA)product ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer(EVAL)on the low-temperature flow properties of model oil containing asphaltene(ASP)was investigated.The change of wax crystal microscopic morphology of model oil before and after modification were examined,and the influence of asphaltene mass fraction on the rheological improvement effect of EVAL was analyzed.The composite system of EVAL and asphaltene significantly reduced the pour point,gel point,apparent viscosity,storage modulus and loss modulus of waxy oil at low temperatures.When the EVAL concentration is 400 ppm and the asphaltene mass fraction is 0.5 wt%,the synergistic effect of the two is optimal,which can reduce the pour point by 17℃and the modulus value by more than 98%.The introduction of EVAL strengthens the interaction between asphaltenes and wax crystals,forming EVALASP aggregates,which promote the adsorption of wax crystals on asphaltenes to form composite particles,and the polar groups prevent the aggregation of wax crystals and reduce the size of wax crystals,thus greatly improving the fluidity of waxy oils. 展开更多

Given that a large amount of crude oil remains on the surface of rocks and is difficult to produce after conventional waterflooding,a new superwetting oil displacement system incorporating the synergy between a hydroxyl anion compound(1OH-1C)and an extended surfactant(S-C13PO13S)was designed.The interfacial tension,contact angle and emulsification performance of the system were measured.The oil displacement effects and improved oil recovery(IOR)mechanisms of 1OH-1C,S-C13PO13S and their compound system were investigated by microscopic visualization oil displacement experiments and core displacement experiments.The results show that 1OH-1C creates a superwetting interface and electrostatic separation pressure on the solid surface,which destroys the strong interactions between crude oil and quartz to peel off the oil film.S-C13PO13S has low interfacial tension,which can promote the flow of remaining oil and emulsify it into oil-in-water emulsions.The compound system of 1OH-1C and S-C13PO13S has both superwettability and low IFT,which can effectively improve oil recovery through a synergistic effect.The oil displacement experiment of low-permeability natural core shows that the compound solution can increase the oil recovery by 16.4 percentage points after waterflooding.This new high-efficiency system is promising for greatly improving oil recovery in low-permeability reservoirs. 展开更多

Reliable Cluster Head(CH)selectionbased routing protocols are necessary for increasing the packet transmission efficiency with optimal path discovery that never introduces degradation over the transmission reliability.In this paper,Hybrid Golden Jackal,and Improved Whale Optimization Algorithm(HGJIWOA)is proposed as an effective and optimal routing protocol that guarantees efficient routing of data packets in the established between the CHs and the movable sink.This HGJIWOA included the phases of Dynamic Lens-Imaging Learning Strategy and Novel Update Rules for determining the reliable route essential for data packets broadcasting attained through fitness measure estimation-based CH selection.The process of CH selection achieved using Golden Jackal Optimization Algorithm(GJOA)completely depends on the factors of maintainability,consistency,trust,delay,and energy.The adopted GJOA algorithm play a dominant role in determining the optimal path of routing depending on the parameter of reduced delay and minimal distance.It further utilized Improved Whale Optimisation Algorithm(IWOA)for forwarding the data from chosen CHs to the BS via optimized route depending on the parameters of energy and distance.It also included a reliable route maintenance process that aids in deciding the selected route through which data need to be transmitted or re-routed.The simulation outcomes of the proposed HGJIWOA mechanism with different sensor nodes confirmed an improved mean throughput of 18.21%,sustained residual energy of 19.64%with minimized end-to-end delay of 21.82%,better than the competitive CH selection approaches. 展开更多

The reducing property of pellets prepared by ultrafine magnetite concentrate(UMC)and improving method were revealed.The results show that the reduction degree of UMC pellets is only about 56%compared with that of pellets prepared from ordinary iron ore concentrate with relatively coarse particle size,which is significantly lower than the general reduction degree of about 70%.When the composite binder composed of bentonite and organic binder was added,the reduction degree was significantly increased to 69.66%.The revealed mechanism shows that the reduced pellets with common bentonite have a concentric structure,the oxidation gap between the inner and outer layers is obvious,and the outer dense oxide layer hinders the oxidation and reduction of the inner layer.After adding the composite binder,the organic components significantly improved the internal porosity of the pellets and the aggregation degree of ultrafine iron ore concentrate particles in the granulation process,forming a porous structure.The non-uniform double-layer structure is eliminated,and the increased pores are conducive to the internal diffusion of CO,and finally the reduction degree of pellets is increased to the level equivalent to that of ordinary magnetite pellets. 展开更多

Previous work puts forward a random edge rewiring method which is capable of improving the network robustness noticeably, while it lacks further discussions about how to improve the robustness faster. In this study, the detailed analysis of the structures of improved networks show that regenerating the edges between high-degree nodes can enhance the robustness against a targeted attack. Therefore, we propose a novel rewiring strategy based on regenerating more edges between high-degree nodes, called smart rewiring, which could speed up the increase of the robustness index effectively. The smart rewiring method also explains why positive degree-degree correlation could enhance network robustness. 展开更多

As a widely used reconstruction algorithm in quantum state tomography, maximum likelihood estimation tends to assign a rank-deficient matrix, which decreases estimation accuracy for certain quantum states. Fortunately, hedged maximum likelihood estimation (HMLE) [Phys. Rev. Lett. 105 (2010)200504] was proposed to avoid this problem. Here we study more details about this proposal in the two-qubit case and further improve its performance. We ameliorate the HMLE method by updating the hedging function based on the purity of the estimated state. Both performances of HMLE and ameliorated HMLE are demonstrated by numerical simulation and experimental implementation on the Werner states of polarization-entangled photons. 展开更多

An imaging accuracy improving method is established, within which a distance coefficient including location information between sparse array configuration and the location of defect is proposed to select higher signal- to-noise ratio data from all experimental data and then to use these selected data for elliptical imaging. Tile relationships among imaging accuracy, distance coefficient and residual direct wave are investigated, and then the residual direct wave is introduced to make the engineering application more convenient. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated experimentally by sparse transducer array of a rectangle, and the results reveal that selecting experimental data of smaller distance coefficient can effectively improve imaging accuracy. Moreover, the direct wave difference increases with the decrease of the distance coefficient, which implies that the imaging accuracy can be effectively improved by using the experimental data of the larger direct wave difference. 展开更多

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) small-molecule oxidation can selectively transform substrates into high-value-added fine chemicals and increase the rate of cathode hydrogen evolution. Nevertheless, achieving high-selectivity PEC oxidation of small molecules to produce specific products is a very challenging task. In general, selectivity can be improved by changing the surface catalyticsites of the photoanode and modulating the interfacial environments of the reactions. Herein, recent advances in approaches to improving selective PEC oxidation of small molecules are introduced. We first briefly discuss the basic concept and fundamentals of small-molecule PEC oxidation. The reported approaches to improving the performance of selective PEC oxidation of small molecules are highlighted from two aspects: (1) changing the surface properties of photoanodes by selecting suitable materials or modifying the photoanodes and (2) mediating the oxidation reactions using redox mediators. The PEC oxidation mechanism of these studies is emphasized. We also discuss the challenges in this research direction and offer a perspective on the further development of selective PEC-based small-molecule transformation. 展开更多

Purpose:To investigate the clinical effects of improving adolescents’form anxiety after the intervention of visceral massage technique and form training.Methods:A total of 80 adolescent patients with scoliosis abnormalities were selected for this experiment,and they were intervened with form and body training and form and body training+visceral body acupressure techniques,and the anxiety and depression scores,spinal Cobb angle,vertebral body rotation of the parietal vertebrae,and the treatment efficiency were compared between the groups after the clinical interventions.Results:The anxiety and depression scores of patients in the form group were significantly higher than those of the combined group,P<0.05;the improvement of the Cobb angle and vertebral rotation of the parietal vertebrae of patients in the combined group was better than that of the form group,P<0.05;and the total effective rate of the treatment of patients in the form group was significantly lower than that of the combined group,P<0.05.Conclusion:After intervening in adolescents’abnormalities of form,patients were treated with a combination of the internal organs and body acupressure techniques and form training methods,and the results were compared between groups.After the joint intervention of the visceral massage technique and physical training,the patients’scoliosis and other physical problems were positively improved,and the psychological status of the patients was relatively adjusted to ensure their physical and mental health. 展开更多

The effects of Ni-doping on thedensification and mechanical properties of the composites were studied. Results show that the density of the composites decreases with the content of TiC increasing, and the addition of Ni significantly improves the densificationprocess by enhancing mass transfer in the bonding phase. The mechanical properties of the composites are closelyrelated with their porosity. Besides increasing the density of the composites, the addition of Ni improves the mechanical properties by other three effects: solution-strengthening the bonding phase, strengthening the FeAI-TiC interfaceand increasing ductile fracture in FeAl phase. 展开更多
