The semi-active vibration isolator(SAVI) has the characteristics of dynamic adjustable stiffness and damping, which can achieve high-efficient broadband vibration isolation. However, the issue of the energy supply constraints on its application in engineering. A novel self-powered semi-active vibration isolator(SPSAVI) with adjustable stiffness is proposed to achieve vibration reduction and energy harvesting. The piezoelectric materials are adhered onto the buckling beam structure to gather the electrical energy generated by vibration, which can supply the energy demand of the piezoelectric actuator for achieving the self-supply capability. An electromechanical coupling dynamic model of the SPSAVI is established under Newton's second law. The vibration reduction and self-powered effect of the SPSAVI are analyzed by the harmonic balance method.The results indicate that the SPSAVI can effectively improve the vibration isolation performance and achieve the self-powered effect. When the external excitation is 0.65g in which g is the gravity acceleration, the SPSAVI can achieve a stable self-powered effect. 展开更多

Standard bacterial suspensions play a crucial role in microbiological diagnosis.Traditional prepar-ation methods,which rely heavily on manual operations,face challenges such as poor reproducibility,low ef-ficiency,and biosafety concerns.In this study,we propose a high-precision automated colony extraction and separation system that combines large-field imaging and artificial intelligence(AI)to facilitate intelligent screening and localization of colonies.Firstly,a large-field imaging system was developed to capture high-resolution images of 90 mm Petri dishes,achieving a physical resolution of 13.2μm and an imaging speed of 13 frames per second.Subsequently,AI technology was employed for the automatic recognition and localiza-tion of colonies,enabling the selection of target colonies with diameters ranging from 1.9 to 2.3 mm.Next,a three-axis motion control platform was designed,accompanied by a path planning algorithm for the efficient extraction of colonies.An electronic pipette was employed for accurate colony collection.Additionally,a bacterial suspension concentration measurement module was developed,incorporating a 650 nm laser diode as the light source,achieving a measurement accuracy of 0.01 McFarland concentration(MCF).Finally,the system’s performance was validated through the preparation of an Esckerichia coli(E.coli)suspension.After 17 hours of cultivation,E.coli was extracted four times,achieving the target concentration set by the system.This work is expected to enable rapid and accurate microbial sample preparation,significantly reducing de-tection cycles and alleviating the workload of healthcare personnel. 展开更多

Periodic isolator is well known for its wave filtering characteristic.While in middle and high frequencies,the internal resonances of the periodic isolator are evident especially when damping is small.This study proposes a novel aperiodic vibration isolation for improving the internal resonances control of the periodic isolator.The mechanism of the internal resonances control by the aperiodic isolator is firstly explained.For comparing the internal resonances suppression effect of the aperiodic isolator with the periodic isolator,a dynamic model combing the rigid machine,the isolator,and the flexible plate is derived through multi subsystem modeling method and transfer matrix method,whose accuracy is verified through the finite element method.The influences of the aperiodicity and damping of the isolator on the vibration isolation performance and internal resonances suppression effect are investigated by numerical analysis.The numerical results demonstrate that vibration attenuation performances of the periodic isolator and aperiodic isolator are greatly over than that of the continuous isolator in middle and high frequencies.The aperiodic isolator opens the stop bandgaps comparing with the periodic isolator where the pass bandgaps are periodically existed.The damping of the isolator has the stop bandgap widening effect on both the periodic isolator and the aperiodic isolator.In addition,a parameter optimization algorithm of the aperiodic isolator is presented for improving the internal resonances control effect.It is shown that the vibration peaks within the target frequency band of the aperiodic isolator are effectively reduced after the optimization.Finally,the experiments of the three different vibration isolation systems are conducted for verifying the analysis work. 展开更多

A small quasi-zero stiffness(QZS)vibration isolator is designed to be mounted on the roof of an agricultural vehicle for the working environment and vibration frequency of the inertial navigation system.By using the principle that the Euler beam has a negative stiffness in the critical state,the dynamic stiffness of the loaded QZS vibration isolator in the balance position tends to be close to zero by connecting a vertical spring in parallel.Firstly,the stiffness of the QZS vibration isolation system at the balance position is analyzed statically,and the material parameters and properties of the Euler beam are determined.Then,the dynamic equations are established,and the harmonic equilibrium method is used to solve the dynamic response under sinusoidal excitation to obtain the force transmissibility of the QZS vibration isolation system,and to make a comparison with that of the linear isolation system.Finally,the modal simulation,harmonic response simulation and random vibration simulation of the QZS vibration isolator are carried out through the finite element analysis,and the results show that the QZS vibration isolator has a lower initial isolation frequency and a larger isolation range,and the peak vibration isolation can reach about 11.58 dB. 展开更多

Dynamic transfer equations of the system are deduced based on a matrix method which uses mobility or impedance representations of three substructures: the source of vibration, the receiver and the mounting system which connects the source to the receiver. The cancellation of axial input forces to the receiver is considered as the active control strategy and its effects are discussed. The results of the study show that the strategy adopted herein can effectively reduce the power transmitted to the receiver. 展开更多

This paper presents a theoretical-cum-experimental study on the dynamic behavior of Focal Isolation System of helicopter equipped with Mast Mounted Sight. A new simplified model of FIS/MMS/ Fuselage with 5-Degree of Freedom (DOF) is proposed, where elasticity of the rotor shaft and the support structure of MMS are taken into account. In order to validate this model and make further investigation on MMS, a dummy MMS and its support are fabricated. Frequency and transfer function experiments are carried out on Z-× helicopter. Good correlation between theoretical and experimental results is achieved. A 39% decrease in 1st longitudinal frequency is noticed for FIS when the mass of MMS is 80kg, which is only 12% of the mass to be isolated. The elasticity of rotor shaft has great influence (403%) on the isolation efficiency of fuselage for prototype. 展开更多

According to theoretical analysis, a general characteristic of the ground vibration induced by high dam flood discharge is that the dominant frequency ranges over several narrow frequency bands, which is verified by observations from the Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station. Nonlinear base isolation is used to reduce the structure vibration under ground excitation and the advantage of the isolation application is that the low-frequency resonance problem does not need to be considered due to its excitation characteristics, which significantly facilitate the isolation design. In order to obtain the response probabilistic distribution of a nonlinear system, the state space split technique is modified. As only a few degrees of freedom are subjected to the random noise, the probabilistic distribution of the response without involving stochastic excitation is represented by the δ function. Then, the sampling property of the δ function is employed to reduce the dimension of the Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov (FPK) equation and the low-dimensional FPK equation is solvable with existing methods. Numerical results indicate that the proposed approach is effective and accurate. Moreover, the response probabilistic distributions are more reasonable and scientific than the peak responses calculated by conventional time and frequency domain methods. 展开更多

Low-fi'equency vertical vibration isolation systems play important roles in precision measurements to reduce seismic and environmental vibration noise. Several types of active vibration isolation systems have been developed. However, few researches focus on how to optimize the test mass install position in order to improve the vibration transmissibility. An active low-frequency vertical vibration isolation system based on an earlier instrument, the Super Spring, is designed and implemented. The system, which is simple and compact, consists of two stages: a parallelogram-shaped linkage to ensure vertical motion, and a simple spring-mass system. The theoretical analysis of the vibration isolation system is presented, including terms erroneously ignored before. By carefully choosing the mechanical parameters according to the above analysis and using feedback control, the resonance frequency of the system is reduced from 2.3 to 0.03 Hz, a reduction by a factor of more than 75. The vibration isolation system is installed as an inertial reference in an absolute gravimeter, where it improved the scatter of the absolute gravity values by a factor of 5. The experimental results verifies the improved performance of the isolation system, making it particularly suitable for precision experiments. The improved vertical vibration isolation system can be used as a prototype for designing high-performance active vertical isolation systems. An improved theoretical model of this active vibration isolation system with beam-pivot configuration is proposed, providing fundamental guidelines for vibration isolator design and assembling. 展开更多

In the prediction of active vibration isolation performance, control force requirements were ignored in previous work. This may limit the realization of theoretically predicted isolation performance if control force of large magnitude cannot be supplied by actuators.The behavior of a feed-forward active isolation system subjected to actuator output constraints is investigated. Distributed parameter models are developed to analyze the system response, and to produce a transfer matrix for the design of an integrated passive-active isolation system. Cost functions comprising a combination of the vibration transmission energy and the sum of the squared control forces are proposed. The example system considered is a rigid body connected to a simply supported plate via two passive-active isolation mounts. Vertical and transverse forces as well as a rotational moment are applied at the rigid body, and resonances excited in elastic mounts and the supporting plate are analyzed. The overall isolation performance is evaluated by numerical simulation. The simulation results are then compared with those obtained using unconstrained control strategies. In addition, the effects of waves in elastic mounts are analyzed. It is shown that the control strategies which rely on tmconstrained actuator outputs may give substantial power transmission reductions over a wide frequency range, but also require large control force amplitudes to control excited vibration modes of the system. Expected power transmission reductions for modified control strategies that incorporate constrained actuator outputs are considerably less than typical reductions with unconstrained actuator outputs. In the frequency range in which rigid body modes are present, the control strategies can only achieve 5-10 dB power transmission reduction, when control forces are constrained to be the same order of the magnitude as the primary vertical force. The resonances of the elastic mounts result in a notable increase of power transmission in high frequency range and cannot be attenuated by active control. The investigation provides a guideline for design and evaluation of active vibration isolation systems. 展开更多

For estimating the vibration transmission accurately and performing vibration control efficiently in isolation systems, a novel general model is presented to predict the power flow transmitted into the complicate flexible bases of laminated beams. In the model, the laminated beam bases are simulated by the first-order shear deformation laminated plate theory, which is relatively simple and economic but accurate in predicting the vibration solutions of flexible isolation systems with laminated beam bases in comparison with classical laminated beam theories and higher order theories. On the basis of the presented model, substructure technique and variational principle are employed to obtain the governing equation of the isolation system and the power flow solution. Then, the vibration characteristics of the flexible isolation systems with laminated bases are investigated. Several numerical examples are given to show the validity and efficiency of the presented model. It is concluded that the presented model is the extension of the classical one and it can obtain more accurate power flow solutions. 展开更多

The pneumatic vibration isolator(PVI)plays an increasingly important role in precision manufacturing.In this paper,aiming to detect the performance of the pressure regulator in the PVI system,a PVI testing system with a pressure regulator is designed and developed.Firstly,the structure of the pneumatic spring is presented and analyzed,and the nonlinear stiffness is obtained based on the ideal gas model and material mechanics.Then,according to the working principle and continuity equations of ideal airflow,a dynamic model of the PVI system with a pressure regulator is established.Through the simulation analysis,the vibration isolation performance is improved with the efficient and precise pressure regulator.The average values of both the vibration velocity and transmission rate decrease when the vibration is set to 4,10,20 and 40 Hz,respectively.The experiments demonstrate the reliability and effectiveness of the pressure regulator.This achievement will become an important basis for future research concerning precision manufacturing. 展开更多

The electro-optical payloads on mobile platforms generally suffer undesirable vibrations generated by maneuvers and turbulence.These vibrations are in six degrees of freedom and cause line-of-sight jitters,resulting in image blurring and loss of tracking accuracy.In this paper,a Hexapod Vibration Isolation System(HVIS)is proposed and optimized to solve this problem.The optimization aims to centralize and minimize the natural frequencies of HVIS,for expanding the vibration isolation bandwidth and improving the vibration isolation in the higher frequency band.Considering that the design space for HVIS is limited and interfered with the frames of the mobile platform,a non-collision algorithm is proposed and applied in the optimization to obtain the feasible optimal design.The optimization result shows that the natural frequency bandwidth has been reduced by 42.9%,and the maximum natural frequency is reduced by 30.2%.The prototypes of initial and optimal designs are manufactured and tested.Both simulated and experimental results demonstrate the validity of the optimization,and the optimal design provides a maximum of 15 dB more isolation in rotation direction than the initial design. 展开更多

The objective of the whole-spacecraft vibration isolation (WSVI) system is to reduce the launch-induced dynamic loads and the quality control cost of the satellite and its components, and to increase the launch reliability by insertion of isolators between the satellite and the launch vehicle. A niche hybrid genetic algorithm (NHGA) is proposed to optimize stiffness and damping of the isolators. Through the comparison of the frequency response analysis results, it shows that the optimized WSVI system more effectively reduces spacecraft axial / lateral response due to the broadband structure-born launch environment. At the same time, the case of the whole-spacecraft vibration isolation optimization design demonstrates the efficiency and validity of the genetic algorithm. 展开更多

This paper introduces a new seismic isolation system called a periodic foundation(PF),where inclusions are periodically arranged.The PF is different from traditional base isolation in that it causes a fundamental frequency shift in the structure,thus reducing its response and generating a frequency gap.If the frequency contents of a seismic wave fall into the gap,it can not propagate in the foundation.Thus,it will exert no influence on the structure above.A systematic study of the band of frequency gap for a 2D PF is conducted.The influence of physical and geometrical parameters such as density and elastic modulus as well as filling fraction of the PF and its materials on the band of frequency gap are investigated,and a design with a frequency gap as low as 2.49-3.72 Hz is achieved.This band of frequency gap corresponds well to the design spectra in earthquake engineering.Numerical simulations of a six-story frame structure with different foundations demonstrate that a proposed PF can greatly reduce the seismic response of an isolated structure.This investigation shows that PFs have great potential in future applications of seismic isolation technology. 展开更多

Results show that by increasing the rolling friction coefficient, the structural relative displacement due to seismic load effectively decreases, while the structural response magnitude varies mainly depending on the correlations between the following factors: the spring constant, the earthquake intensity, and the rolling friction coefficient. Furthermore, increasing the spring constant can decrease the structural relative displacement, as well as residual displacement, however, it increases the structural response magnitude. Finally, based on the analyses of various seismic performance factors subjected to the scenario earthquakes, optimized theoretical seismic performance can be achieved by reasonably combining the spring constant and the rolling friction coefficient. 展开更多

This paper proposes a novel three-dimensional(3D)isolation system for facilities and presents the numerical simulation approach for the isolated system under earthquake excitations and impact effect using the OpenSees(Open System for Earthquake Engineering Simulation)software frame work.The 3D isolators combine the quasi-zero stiffness(QZS)system in the vertical direction and lead rubber bearing in the horizontal direction.Considering the large aspect ratio of the isolated facility,linear viscous dampers are designed in the vertical direction to diminish the overturning effect.The vertical QZS isolation system is characterized by a cubic force-displacement relation,thus,no elements or materials can model this mechanic behavior in the existing finite element software.This study takes advantage of the open source feature of the OpenSees to create a new material to represent the mechanic properties of the QZS system.Then the user-defined material is combined with the rubber isolator element to model the 3D isolator.Considering different soil types and input magnitudes,six sets of natural seismic records and artificial waves and half sine pulses are selected as the input excitations.A finite element model for the 3D isolated facility is established based on the combined element and the simulation is performed to calculate the time history response.The numerical simulation reveals the flexibility of the OpenSees to deal with new engineering problems,and the results prove that the new 3D isolation system can have an optimal isolation effect in both horizontal and vertical directions.The maximum acceleration response at the top of the facility is below the target limit,and the maximum deformation and the overturning motion of the isolation system can be controlled in a safe range. 展开更多
