A novel oxide-dispersion-strengthened(ODS)die steel was fabricated by mechanical alloying and hot consolidation.Annealing and quench-tempering treatments both obtained an ultra-fine grain structure(mean size:310-330 nm)with an ultra-high density of ultra-fine Y-Al-O nano-oxides(number density:~(1-1.5)×1023m−3,mean size:5.1-7.2 nm).Prolonged thermal exposure further induced the new,highly dense precipitation of ultra-fine Y-Zr-O nano-oxides.Both nano-oxides tended to be wrapped up with a B2-NiAl nano-shells.Although the quench-tempered sample showed much higher room-temperature strength(yield strength=1393±40 MPa and ultimate tensile strength=1774±11 MPa)and slightly lower elongation(elongation=13.6%±0.6%)than the annealed sample(YS=988±7 MPa,UTS=1490±12 MPa,and EL=15.2%±1.1%),both samples exhibited better strength-ductility synergy at room temperature and much higher thermal stabilities at high temperatures(600-700℃)than all those conventional hot-work die steels,which makes the new ODS steel highly promising for advanced hot-work mold and die applications at high temperatures above 600℃. 展开更多

To reduce the problems of poor solubility,high in vivo dosage requirement,and weak targeting ability of paclitaxel(PTX),a hyaluronic acid-octadecylamine(HA-ODA)-modified nano-structured lipid carrier(HA-NLC)was constructed.HA-ODA conjugates were synthesized by an amide reaction between HA and ODA.The hydrophobic chain of HA-ODA can be embedded in the lipid core of the NLC to obtain HA-NLC.The HA-NLC displayed strong internalization in cluster determinant 44(CD44)highly expressed MCF-7 cells,and endocytosis mediated by the CD44 receptor was involved.The HA-NLC had an encapsulation efficiency of PTX of 72.0%.The cytotoxicity of the PTXloaded nanoparticle HA-NLC/PTX in MCF-7 cells was much stronger than that of the commercial preparation Taxol.In vivo,the HA-NLC exhibited strong tumor targeting ability.The distribution of the NLCs to the liver and spleen was reduced after HA modification,while more nanoparticles were aggregated to the tumor site.Our results suggest that HA-NLC has excellent properties as a nano drug carrier and potential for in vivo targeting. 展开更多

Silver nano-particles with average diameter of about 60 nm were compacted in a high-strength mold under different pressures at 523 K to produce nano-structured Ag solid materials. The structure and characteristic of the nano-structured Ag solid materials (NSS-Ag) were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Raman spectrometer. The NSS-Ag could be used as highly efficient surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) active substrates. The common probe molecules Rhodamine 6G (R6G, 1×10-10 mol/L) were used to test the SERS activity on these substrates at very low concentrations. It is found that the SERS enhancement ability is dependent on the density of NSS-Ag. When the relative density of NSS-Ag is 83.87%, the materials reveal great SERS signal. 展开更多

The Brenner-LJ potential is adopted to describe the interaction between C36 clusters and diamond surface, and the deposition mechanism of multi-C36 clusters on the diamond surface is also studied by using the method of molecular dynamics simulation. The simulation results show that the competition effects of two interactions, i.e. the interaction between cluster and cluster and the interaction between cluster and crystal plane, are studied, and then the influence of these competition effects on C36 cluster deposition is analysed. The finding is that when an incident energy is appropriately chosen, C36 clusters can be chemically adsorbed and deposited steadily on the diamond surface in the form of single-layer, and in the deposition process the multi-C36 clusters present a phenomenon of energy transmission. The experimental result shows that at a temperature of 300K, in order to deposit C36 clusters into a steady nanostructured single-layered film, the optimal incident energy is between 10 and 18 eV, if the incident energy is larger than 18 eV, the C36 clusters will be deposited into an island nano-structured film. 展开更多

Nano-structured SiO2 thin films were prepared on the surface of carbon steel for the first time by LPD. The compositions of the films were analyzed by XPS, and the surface morphology of the thin films were observed by AFM. The thin films were constituted by compact particles of SiO2, and there was no Fe in the films. In the process of film forming, the SiO2 colloid particles were deposited or absorbed directly onto the surface of carbon steel substrates that were activated by acid solution containing inhibitor, and corrosion of the substrates was avoided. The nano-structured SiO2 thin films that were prepared had excellent protective efficiency to the carbon steel. 展开更多

There exist strong interests of developing nano-grained steels because of the outstanding properties including high strength/weight ratio, wear resistance, excellent toughness, and favorable cellular activity. This article reviews the main fabrication process and microstructural control of nano-structured steels over the last decades. Severe plastic deformation is considered as an effective route of obtaining the nano-grained microstructures. The process of cold-rolling and annealing of martensitic steel is a viable method to obtain bulk nano-structured low carbon steel, while the final thickness of the cold-rolling plate is limited. According to the theoretical results of the thermal simulation studies, a novel alloy design combined with the rapid transformation and rolling process is proposed to successfully fabricate nano-grained high strength bulk steel. The refinement mechanisms are expected to be taking advantage of increase in the transformation nucleation sites and inhibiting the grain coarsening. Moreover, corresponding mechanical properties are summarized. 展开更多

The initial field electron emission degradation behaviour of original nano-structured sp^2-bonded amorphous carbon films has been observed, which can be attributed to the increase of the work function of the film in the field emission process analysed using a Fowler-Nordheim plot. The possible reason for the change of work function is suggested to be the desorption of hydrogen from the original hydrogen termination film surface due to field emission current-induced local heating. For the explanation of the emission degradation behaviour of the nano-structured sp2-bonded amorphous carbon film, a cluster model with a series of graphite (0001) basal surfaces has been presented, and the theoretical calculations have been performed to investigate work functions of graphite (0001) surfaces with different hydrogen atom and ion chemisorption sites by using first principles method based on density functional theory-local density approximation. 展开更多

The investigation on the oxidation behaviour of Si1-xGex alloys (x=0.05, 0.15, and 0.25) is carried out. It is found for the first time that on the oxide film a germanium nano-cap with a thickness of 1.8-2.8nm and a few Ge nanoparticles with diameters ranging from 5.5 nm to 10 nm are formed by the low-temperatu.re laser-assisted dry oxidation of Si1-xGex substrate. A new scanning method on the decline cross-section of the multiple-layer sample is adopted to measure the layer thickness and the composition. Some new peaks in photoluminescence (PL) spectra are discovered, which could be related to the nano-cap and the nano-particles of germanium. A suitable model and several new calculating formulae with the unrestricted Hartree-Fock-Roothaan (UHFR) method and quantum confinement analysis are proposed to interpret the PL spectra and the nano-structure mechanism in the oxide. 展开更多

First-principles energetics analyses were performed to investigate the nucleation of(Y-Si-O)nano-clusters(NCs)in nanostructured ferritic alloys(NFAs).It was predicted that the nucleation of(Y-Si-O)NCs follows the same general pathway as previously found for(Y-Ti/Al/Zr-O)NCs in NFAs:they all tend to begin with the(O-O)pairs and grow to(O-Y)-cores and further to larger NCs by attracting Y and other solute elements nearby.Nucleation of a hexa-atomic-[2Y-Si-3O]-cluster can reduce the total energy by 4.71 eV.Among various microalloying-induced NCs,the nucleation preference ordering was predicted as(Y-Zr-O)>(Y-Ti-O)>(Y-Al-O)>(Y-Si-O).The number densities and chemical compositions of NCs in multi-microalloyed NFAs would largely depend on the number availability of(O,Y)-cores,as well as the relative abundance and atomic diffusivities of microalloying solute elements nearby. 展开更多

A bulk nanostructured twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steel with high ductility and high strength was fabricated by cryogenic asymmetry-rolling (cryo-ASR) and subsequent recovery treatment. It was found that the cryo-ASRed TWIP steels exhibit simultaneous improvements in the ductility, strength and work hardening. Typical microstructures of the cryo-ASR TWIP steel were characterized by shear bands and intensive mechanical nano-sized twins induced by cryogenic deformation. These mechanical nano-scale twins remain thermally stable during the subsequent recovery treatment. It is believed that the ductility enhancement and high work-hardening ability for the cryo-ASR TWIP steels should be mainly attributed to the high-densitv pre-existing nano-scale twins. 展开更多

Changes in trace substances in human metabolites, which are related to disease processes and health status, can serve as chemical markers for disease diagnosis and symptom monitoring. Real-time online detection is an inevitable trend for the future of health monitoring, and the construction of chips for detection faces major challenges. The response of sensors often fails to meet the requirements for chipbased detection of trace substances due to the low efficiency of interfacial heterogeneous reactions, necessitating a rational design approach for micro-and nano-structures to improve sensor performance with respect to sensitivity and detection limits. This review focuses on the influence of micro-and nanostructures that used in chip on sensing. Firstly, this review categorizes sensors into chemiresistors, electrochemical sensors, fluorescence sensors, and surface enhanced Raman scattering(SERS) sensors based on their sensing principle, which have significant applications in disease diagnosis. Subsequently, commencing from the application requirements in the field of sensing, this review focuses on the different structures of nanoparticle(NP) assemblies, including wire, layered, core-shell, hollow, concave and deformable structures. These structures change in the size, shape, and morphology of conventional structures to achieve characteristics such as ordered alignment, high specific surface area, space limitation,vertical diffusion, and swaying behavior with fluid, thereby addressing issues such as poor signal transmission efficiency, inadequate adsorption and capture capacity, and slow mass transfer speed during sensing. Finally, the design direction of micro-and nano-structures, and possible obstacles and solutions to promote chip-based detection have been discussed. It is hope that this article will inspire the exploration of interface micro-and nano-structures modulated sensing methods. 展开更多

A nano-structured surface is formed on the pyramid structure of n-type silicon solar cells by size-controlled silver nano-particle assisted etching. Such a nano-structure creates a front average weighted reflectance of less than 2.5% in the 300-1200nm range due to the broadband reflection suppression. The sodium hydroxide is used to obtain the low-area surface by post-etching the nano-structure, thus the severe carrier recombination associated with the nano-structured surface could be reduced. After emitter forming, screen printing and firing by means of the industrial fabrication protocol, an 18.3%-efficient nano-structured silicon solar cell with rear emitter is fabricated. The process of fabricating the solar cells matches well with industrial manufacture and shows promising prospects. 展开更多

Cobalt supported on carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-covered alumina has been recently developed and successfully utilized as a catalyst in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS). Problems associated with shaping of Co/CNTs into extrudates or pellets as well as catalyst attrition rendered these materials unfavorable for industrial applications. In this investigation regular γ- and nano-structured (N-S) alumina as well as CNTs-covered regular γ- and N-S-alumina supports were impregnated by cobalt nitrate solution to make new cobalt-based catalysts which were also promoted by Ru. The catalysts were characterized and tested in a micro reactor to evaluate their applicability in FTS. γ-Al2O3 was prepared by calcination of bohemite and N-S-Al2O3 was prepared by sol-gel method using aluminum chloride as starting material. Catalyst evaluations indicated that N-S-Al2O3 was superior to regular γ-Al2O3 and that CNTs-covered alumina supports were favored over non-covered ones in terms of activity and heavy hydrocarbon selectivity. These were justified by porosimetric characteristics of the catalysts and existence of CNTs points of view. CNTs-covered catalysts also showed higher wax selectivity and better resistance to deactivation. Furthermore, TPR analysis indicated that the cobalt aluminate phase, which is responsible for the permanent deactivation of alumina supported Co-based catalysts, did not form on alumina supported Co-based catalysts covered with CNTs due to weaker interactions between cobalt and alumina. 展开更多

The field emission (FE) characteristics of nano-structured carbon films (NSCFs) are investigated. The saturation behaviour of the field emission current density found at high electric field E cannot be reasonably explained by the traditional Fowler-Nordheim (F-N) theory. A three-region E model and the curve-fitting method are utilized for discussing the FE characteristics of NSCFs. In the low, high, and middle E regions, the FE mechanism is reasonably explained by a modified F-N model, a corrected space-charge-limited-current (SCLC) model and the joint model of F N and SCLC mechanism, respectively. Moreover, the measured FE data accord well with the results from our corrected theoretical model. 展开更多

Based on the experimental phenomena and nano-structure products, arc plasma characteristics in water were analyzed theoretically. Two growth regions and relevant growth modes were proposed to interpret the formation mechanisms of nano-structures by arc discharge in water. Furthermore, liquid nitrogen and cross magnetic field was applied to change the arcing state respectively, and new carbon nano-structures were obtained. Due to the continuously insufficient supply and the disadvantages associated with the donated blood,artificial blood substitute has received extensive attentions throughoutthe world in recentyears.Nano-structured hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers (NHOCs),in particular the liposome-encapsulated hemoglobin (LEH) and hemo-globin-based polymeric nanoparticles (HbPNPs),which combine the nanotechnology with the traditional cellular oxygen carriers,have shown great potential applications in blood transfusion,thrombus and cancer therapy as well.The present article firstly reports on the current status of the synthesis,properties,clinical trial and application of the LEHand HbPNPs.And then,attentions are devoted to highlight the main challenges and the proposed strategies of the NHOCs with the respect of suppression of the methemoglobin formation and prolonging the blood circulation time.These results make us confident in advancing further development of NHOCs,with the expectation of their eventual commercialization. 展开更多

BiFe1-xCoxO3 (x = 0, 0.03, 0.05 and 0.1) symbolic as (BFO, BF3CO, BF5CO and BF10CO) in powder form has been prepared by sol-gel technique using ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) as a chelating agent. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR analysis showed rhombohedra distorted BiFeO3 structure with compressive lattice distortion induced by the Co substitution at Fe sites. The transmission electron microscope (TEM) shows irregular particles. The additive of cobalt oxide has led to grains refining giving the following crystallite sizes of 18 nm for BF5Co. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) study reveals that the samples morphology shows relatively uniform grain size distribution. The dielectric properties of BiFeO3 nano-particles in the frequency range of 1 up to 5 MHz at RT revealed that the A.C. conductivity of the prepared samples reaches its maximum value in BF5CO. By decreasing BiFeO3 particle size as a result of doping with different Co ion concentrations, an enhancement in magnetization and a simultaneous suppression in current leakage occurred. The remnant magnetization Mr of BiFe1-xCoxO3 (x = 0, 0.03, 0.05, 0.1) ceramics significantly enhanced, which provides potential applications in information storage. 展开更多

Barium titanate tin oxides BaTi0.9Sn0.1O3 referred to as (BTSO) doped with 0.5Er3+ and co-doped with (0.75 and 1) Yb3+ ions, were prepared using a modified sol-gel method and calcinated at 1050?C in the air for 4 h. The influence of the selected rare earth element on the structure morphology, dielectric properties behavior was investigated. From TEM micrographs, it has appeared that the particles have a spherical shape with a small size in nanoscale. The average particle size is determined both by TEM and XRD diffraction was found to be in agreement and within the range between 45.9 and 57.7 nm. The effects of Lanthanide incorporation on the evolution of these nano-crystalline structures were followed by XRD and (FTIR). The XRD patterns give rise to a single perovskite phase, while the tetragonality was found to decrease gradually with Er3+ and Er3+/Yb3+ ions, respectively. FTIR results showed enhancement of the crystallinity and the absence of carbonates upon increasing Yb3+ ions concentration from 0.75 up to 1 mol%. The dielectric and conductivity properties were found to be enhanced by the nature and the concentration of the lanthanide element (Er3+, Yb3+) in the BTSO host lattice. The Curie temperature (Tc) shifted to a lower value from 117 for BTSO: 0.5Er to 93 for BTSO: 0.5Er/1Yb and the permittivity ε’ increased from 3972 to 6071, so BTSO: 0.5Er/1Yb good crystalline material candidate for capacitors application due to its higher permittivity. 展开更多
