A liquid sloshing experimental rig driven by a wave-maker is designed and built to study liquid sloshing problems in a rectangular liquid tank with perforated baffle. A series of experiments are conducted in this experimental rig to estimate the free surface fluctuation and pressure distribution by changing external excitation frequency of the shaking table. An in-house CFD code is also used in this study to simulate the liquid sloshing in three-dimensional (3D) rectangular tank with perforated baffle. Good agreements of free surface elevation and pressure between the numerical results and the experimental data are obtained and presented. Spectral analysis of the time history of free surface elevation is conducted by using the fast Fourier transformation. 展开更多

Nonlinear dynamics of liquid-filled rectangular tank with elastic appendages are studied. Based on the assumption of ideal fluid, the coupling dynamic equations of rigid tank, elastic appendages and liquid fuel are derived using H-O principle. In the case of pitch excitation, the modified potential function and wave height function are introduced to describe the moving boundary of fluid, then Galerkin's method is used to discretize the dynamic equations into ordinary differential equations. The natural frequencics of the coupling system are formulated in liquid depth, the length of the tank, etc. The formulae are confirmed by numerical simulations, which also show that the effects of liquid and elastic appendages on the attitude angular of rigid. 展开更多

A dual-baffled rectangular tank with different configurations is proposed to reduce the sloshing effect,and design optimization is conducted through numerical simulations with open-source software,namely OpenFOAM,based on the computational fluid dynamic model.A series of physical experiments in the dual-baffled rectangular tank is performed for model validation and design optimization with the measured water surface elevation distributions along the tank.The optimization uses the calculated maximum horizontal force exerted on the tank and entropy generation(EG)as the criterion.Results show that the dual-baffle configuration positioned at the tank center is more effective in reducing the sloshing than that of the single baffle when the relative baffle height and initial water depth ratio(Hb/Hw,where Hb and Hw represent baffle height and static water depth,respectively)are larger than 0.5.However,such an effect then diminishes when the ratio is larger than 0.75.The effect of the dual-baffle configuration on the sway motion under the condition of different motion amplitudes and frequencies is also evaluated.The results show that the reduction in the maximum horizontal force is almost the same for dual-and single-baffled configurations and reaches the minimum when the sway motion amplitude is near 0.03 m.The dual-baffled configuration for the angular frequency of the sway motion is more effective than the single-baffled in reducing the sloshing at the low angular frequencies but is only less effective at high angular frequencies.Furthermore,the optimal baffle inclination angle is 85°when the inclined straight and curved baffles are used,and curved baffles can successfully decrease the horizontal force exerted on the tank and EG. 展开更多

Elevated,rectangular water tanks are an essential component of the water supply network and for emergency water storage.However,determining the dynamic response from seismic loads will require accurate estimates of their natural frequencies to help avoid damage or failure.Several numerical and analytical methodologies depend on assumptions that may not account for the complexity of fluid-structure interaction regarding rectangular geometries,indicating a strong need for solid experimental validation.This study pioneers the application of Digital Image Correlation(DIC),a non-contact optical technique,to measure the natural frequencies of a small-scale acrylic and Teflon tank,addressing this gap with a novel experimental approach.The method includes DIC using a high-speed camera,image analyzed by MATLAB,frequency analysis by Continuous Wavelet Transformation(CWT),and Fast Fourier Transformation(FFT);ANSYS finite element analysis,simplified models based on Eurocode and the Egyptian Code of Practice(ECP).Study results indicate that DIC is critical for attaining high accuracy,with maximum error differing by 2.92% for impulsive and 4.55%for convective frequencies from ANSYS and provides a better measure of dynamic response compared to contact-based measurements.Impulsive frequency decreased from 5.8724 Hz to 4.0085 Hz,and sloshing increased from 1.00 Hz to 1.84 Hz,as the water cover height varied from 0 cm to 9.8 cm.The Eurocode and ECP models describe acceptable errors of 7.36% and 9.21%,respectively.DIC showed higher accuracy,making it a useful tool for seismic design.This study improves the safety and reliability of designs for elevated water tanks in seismic regions with elevated seismic risk. 展开更多

The sloshing of inviscid liquid of stratified density in a rectangular tank is analyzed.As the flow is no longer irrotional,the governing equation is found to be quite different from the Laplace equation used for the liquid of constant density.In particular it contains terms of mixed temporal and spatial derivatives.The problem is solved based on the variable separation method and Laplace transform for the constant Vaisala-Brunt frequency.It is found that the stratification of density may have small effects on those natural frequencies associated with the constant density,but many new natural frequencies have appeared as a result of its effect. 展开更多

The fluid motion in partially filled tanks with internal baffles has wide engineering applications. The installation of baffles is expected to reduce the effect of sloshing as well as the consequent environmental damages. In the present study, a series of experimental tests are performed to investigate the sloshing phenomenon in a baffled rectangular storage tank. In addition, the sloshing phenomenon is also modeled by using Open Foam. Based on the experimental and numerical studies, optimization of the geometric parameters of the tank is performed based on some criteria such as tank area, entropy generation, and the horizontal force exerted on the tank area due to the sloshing phenomenon.The optimization is also carried out based on the entropy generation minimization analysis. It is noted that the optimum baffle height is in the range of h_b/h_w=0.5-0.75 in the present study(where h_b and h_w are the baffle height and water depth, respectively). Based on the results, the optimal design of the tank is achieved with R_A= 0.9-1.0(where R_A=L/W, L and W are the length and width of the tank, respectively). The results also show that the increase of h_b can lead to a decrease of the maximum pressure and horizontal force exerted on the tank. It is also noted that the horizontal force exerted on the tank firstly continues to increase as the sway motion amplitude increases.However, as the normalized motion amplitude parameter, a/L(The parameter a is the motion amplitude), exceeds0.067, the effect of motion amplitude on the force is not obvious. The same optimization is also performed in the multiple-variable-baffled tank and prismatic storage tank. 展开更多

Sloshing of liquid can increase the dynamic pressure on the storage sidewalls and bottom in tanker ships and LNG careers. Different geometric shapes were suggested for storage tank to minimize the sloshing pressure on tank perimeter. In this research, a numerical code was developed to model liquid sloshing in a rectangular partially filled tank. Assuming the fluid to be inviscid, Laplace equation and nonlinear free surface boundary conditions are solved using coupled FEM-BEM. The code performance for sloshing modeling is validated against available data. To minimize the sloshing pressure on tank perimeter, rectangular tanks with specific volumes and different aspect ratios were investigated and the best aspect ratios were suggested. The results showed that the rectangular tank with suggested aspect ratios, not only has a maximum surrounded tank volume to the constant available volume, but also reduces the sloshing pressure efficiently. 展开更多

为解决集约化水产养殖池底部固体废弃物难以高效清除的问题,以矩形养殖池为研究对象,采用标准k-ε湍流模型与VOF自由液面模型耦合,构建二维瞬态数值模型,系统研究机械刮板排污装置的参数优化与效能提升。通过L25(53)正交试验设计,考... 为解决集约化水产养殖池底部固体废弃物难以高效清除的问题,以矩形养殖池为研究对象,采用标准k-ε湍流模型与VOF自由液面模型耦合,构建二维瞬态数值模型,系统研究机械刮板排污装置的参数优化与效能提升。通过L25(53)正交试验设计,考察刮板高度(6~14 cm)、倾角(-20°~+20°)和速度(0.05~0.09 m/s)等对颗粒体积分数、排污率的影响。结果显示:倾角对排污率影响最显著,最优参数为高度6 cm、倾角+10°、速度0.05 m/s,能够实现连续的颗粒迁移路径,达到最高排污率和最小残留。为了验证数值模型的精度与适用性,搭建物理试验平台并开展45组单因素试验,采用颗粒回收法量化排污率。试验结果与仿真趋势一致,偏差在5%~10%,验证了模型的可靠性。该研究为机械刮板排污装置的优化与工程设计提供了理论依据和数据支持,具有广泛的应用价值。 展开更多

针对中小型钢结构装配式矩形水池广泛采用的竖向壁板模块拼装体系,本文进行了力学性能分析与设计方法优化,并与经典欧拉-伯努利梁理论的手算方法与精细化有限元模拟对比,结果表明:传统理论模型由于将加劲肋与壁板简化为等截面梁且忽略... 针对中小型钢结构装配式矩形水池广泛采用的竖向壁板模块拼装体系,本文进行了力学性能分析与设计方法优化,并与经典欧拉-伯努利梁理论的手算方法与精细化有限元模拟对比,结果表明:传统理论模型由于将加劲肋与壁板简化为等截面梁且忽略局部效应,导致应力与变形预测值均显著偏低,且极值位置判定存在偏差。有限元分析则能精确模拟加劲肋与壁板的协同工作、薄壁板的局部面外弯曲与整体弯曲的叠加效应,并可真实反映壁板与底板的连接刚度,从而更准确地揭示结构的复杂力学行为。基于此,本文提出一种兼顾安全性与经济性的两阶段设计方法:先基于欧拉-伯努利梁理论简化计算,初步确定壁板截面尺寸与厚度;再建立精细化有限元模型,结合施工及使用阶段多荷载工况开展数值分析,对关键部位进行应力评定与优化,以期为同类装配式水池结构提供安全经济的设计思路。 展开更多

基于模型试验的矩形养殖舱进排水方式优化研究 认领 引用

养殖舱作为养殖工船的核心功能单元,进排水方式的优劣对其内部流场环境具有重要影响。为优化养殖舱内流场环境并提升适渔性,以30万吨级养殖工船的矩形养殖舱为原型,采用1∶100的几何缩尺比建立物理模型,并基于粒子图像测速试验技术(Part... 养殖舱作为养殖工船的核心功能单元,进排水方式的优劣对其内部流场环境具有重要影响。为优化养殖舱内流场环境并提升适渔性,以30万吨级养殖工船的矩形养殖舱为原型,采用1∶100的几何缩尺比建立物理模型,并基于粒子图像测速试验技术(Particle Image Velocimetry,PIV)开展了系统的水动力试验研究。通过控制进水流量和进水口数量等关键参数,定量分析了不同进水工况下养殖舱模型内流场结构的演变规律;同时针对不同出水口结构,重点探究了其对舱内涡流场特性的影响机制。结果表明:1)进水流量是养殖舱内流速的主要调节因子,当进水流量从1800 L·h−1降至900 L·h−1时,高流速区面积占比从33.2%减至8.4%,低流速区扩散至舱体65%以上区域,舱内平均流速降幅达52.89%,且进水流量与舱内平均流速呈线性关系;2)相较于改变进水流量,调整进水口数量对养殖舱内流场均匀性的调控效果更显著;随着进水口数量的减少,同一工况下不同深度截面的速度分布均匀性系数(DU50)最大降幅为33.62%,而不同工况下同一截面的DU50最大降幅为39.68%;3)底部出水口数量和位置的改变会显著影响舱内漩涡流场的分布特性,当底部设置4个出水口时可有效避免涡流对舱内水体的影响。 展开更多

新型LNG船的液仓内液体晃荡涉及非线性自由表面大变形运动。针对容器的运动所激发的内部流体的强迫晃荡问题,该文运用光滑质点水动力学(SPH)方法对二维矩形水槽的纵荡过程和纵摇过程进行了数值模拟。纵荡过程中边界处的自由液面高度的... 新型LNG船的液仓内液体晃荡涉及非线性自由表面大变形运动。针对容器的运动所激发的内部流体的强迫晃荡问题,该文运用光滑质点水动力学(SPH)方法对二维矩形水槽的纵荡过程和纵摇过程进行了数值模拟。纵荡过程中边界处的自由液面高度的时间历程曲线与前人的结果相比符合较好,结果还显示了当激励频率接近容器一阶固有频率时出现了对容器上边界的砰击和自由水面的破碎现象,并分析了砰击作用对计算的影响;同时考虑纵荡和纵摇激励时,模拟表明当相位相同时波面的运动幅度最小,而相位差为180度时波面的运动幅度最大,并且其综合效果是非线性的。 展开更多

为研究进水结构及其设计参数对循环水养殖池水动力特性的影响,采用流体动力学仿真技术,基于有限体积法和有限差分法建立三维数值计算模型,对矩形圆弧角养殖池在单进水管结构水力驱动模式下,不同射流孔数和进水管布设位置对养殖池内(尤... 为研究进水结构及其设计参数对循环水养殖池水动力特性的影响,采用流体动力学仿真技术,基于有限体积法和有限差分法建立三维数值计算模型,对矩形圆弧角养殖池在单进水管结构水力驱动模式下,不同射流孔数和进水管布设位置对养殖池内(尤其是池底)流场的影响进行三维数值计算,并对排污口附近的复杂流场特征进行了重点分析。结果表明:提高日循环次数(本研究增加射流孔数)有利于增加养殖池内平均流速与速度分布均匀性;进水管布设于圆弧角位置是优选布设,有利于改善养殖池底部水动力特性。研究表明,进水管采用圆弧角位置布设,日循环次数为100~120次/d(本研究对应射流孔数为18~21个)时,养殖池内尤其是底部能达到较优流场状态,该结果可为工厂化循环水矩形圆弧角养殖池进水结构的参数设计和布设位置选择提供参考依据。 展开更多
