Dynamic positioning systems(DPS)on marine vessels exhibit actuator redundancy,with more actuators than degrees of freedom.A control allocation unit is employed to address this redundancy.Practical systems often feature time-varying elements in the effectiveness matrix due to factors such as changing operating conditions,nonlinearity,and disturbances.Additionally,not all thrusters require engagement at each step to counteract disturbances and maintain position.Control efforts can be generated by selecting some thrusters based on their instant effectiveness,while others can remain on standby.Therefore,introducing a control allocation method that calculates the effectiveness matrix online and selects the most efficient thrusters could be effective.This paper introduces a fault-tolerant control allocation strategy for DPS with a varying effectiveness matrix.Specifically,the investigation focuses on a case study featuring eight azimuth thrusters used on a drilling rig.At each time step,the effective matrix is calculated online,followed by the selection of the four most effective thrusters based on the actuator effectiveness index,with the four serving as backups in case of a fault.The proposed strategy has been validated through simulation results,demonstrating advantages such as robustness against changes in the effectiveness matrix and reduced energy usage by the thrusters. 展开更多

During the operation of the drilling cuttings method,frequent occurrences of suction and sticking phenomena lead to the loss of drilling tools and failure to achieve the designed borehole depth.resulting in inaccurate risk assessment for coal seam rockbursts.To address these challenges,a mechanical analysis of cuttings transport via the spiral drill pipe was conducted.This analysis identified the primary factors contributing to suction and sticking phenomena in spiral drill pipes and proposed a targeted approach for mitigating these issues.Based on this analysis,an intelligent drilling cuttings method drill rig(IDCMDR)was developed,and field experiments were conducted.The experimental results demonstrate that when suction occurs,adjusting the rotational and drilling speeds of the IDCMDR effectively controls the phenomenon.When sticking occurs,the stuck drill pipe can be addressed by injecting high-pressure gas into the borehole bottom through the hollow structure of the spiral drill pipe or by reversing its rotation.During operation,characteristic patterns in the needle movements of the thrust and torque hydraulic gauges on the IDCMDR enable the identification of suction and sticking phenomena.The development and field validation of the IDCMDR confirm the feasibility of the theoretically proposed mitigation methods. 展开更多

This paper presents experimental rigs of the Research Centre for the Mechanics of Turbomachinery of the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering of the University of Pisa. Most of them were designed and constructed to allow investigations of real machine components and to furnish more realistic results than basic tribological test rigs. Tilting pad journal bearings, as well as gears and complete gearboxes for advanced industrial applications, can be tested using the rigs described in the paper. A novel test rig with a power rating of approximately 1 MW allows investigations of the static and dynamic characteristics of high-performance tilting pad journal bearings for turbomachinery. A twin disc machine and closed loop gear test rig are used to investigate the different kinds of wear mechanisms occurring in gears. Functional and durability tests on planetary gearboxes for new turbo-fan engines could be performed using another novel large test rig. A circulating power configuration was adopted for most of the rigs so that only the power needed to cover the friction losses has to be supplied, while the circulating power can be more than 20 times higher. All the test rigs include very complex load applications and lubrication plants, as well as dedicated control and data acquisition systems. The rigs and related plants were designed and constructed through strong and fruitful collaborations between the university and some large and small–medium companies. Despite some limitations in the publication of the results as a result of the industrial sensitivity of the data, the synergy among these different actors was stimulating and fundamental for the realization of new advanced industrial applications. 展开更多

Based upon the main properties of the relational analysis in grey system theory, a new method to select optimal drill rigs is proposed in this paper. Under the unified technique economic index, with the practical data of four kinds of drill rigs in the mining district, east of Sichuan, China, an optimal reference number series was constructed. Through calculating the relational grade between the technique economic indices of various drill rigs and the reference number series and making a relational sequence in accordance with priority, the results achieved are in conformity with that of reference by Fuzzy Set Theory, and grey situation decision making and yet this method is simple, easy and intuitive in analysis etc.. 展开更多

The aerodynamic performance test rig for aircraft engine compressors serves as a core ground test facility for conducting aerodynamic design verification,performance evaluation,stability analysis,and flow mechanism research on compressors.The accuracy of its flow field measurement results directly determines the reliability of key conclusions,such as compressor characteristic curves,adiabatic efficiency,stability boundaries,and interstage matching relationships.In the context of developing a new generation of compressors with high load,high efficiency,and wide stability margins,traditional methods relying on empirical debugging and local calibration struggle to meet the requirements for high-precision aerodynamic testing.This paper takes an axial-flow compressor aerodynamic performance test rig as the research object,systematically elaborates on the typical process and mainstream methods of flow field calibration,analyzes the primary sources of error affecting measurement accuracy,and proposes an integrated strategy for improving accuracy from aspects such as probe calibration,flow rate calibration,flow field uniformity correction,installation and environmental compensation,and traceability of measurements.Furthermore,it provides a comparative analysis of calibration effects based on engineering test data.The research results indicate that through systematic flow field calibration and multi-dimensional error correction,the uncertainty in flow rate measurement can be reduced to better than±0.3%,with significant improvements in the measurement accuracy of total pressure and flow angle.The flow field non-uniformity is controlled within 3%,providing reliable data support for ground testing of high-performance compressors. 展开更多

2The joint opening degree is a critical index for assessing the stability of jointed rock masses,which directly impacts the rock mass quality.It is also a key factor influencing the design of tunnel support structures... 2The joint opening degree is a critical index for assessing the stability of jointed rock masses,which directly impacts the rock mass quality.It is also a key factor influencing the design of tunnel support structures.Hammer and rotary drilling rigs,commonly employed as rock-breaking equipment in tunneling,inevitably encounter joints with varying opening degrees during construction.This research aims to enhance the sampling frequency of hammer and rotary drilling rigs and optimize the joint detection algorithm,thereby equipping these rigs with the capability to detect joint opening degrees.This paper develops high-frequency acquisition equipment for drilling parameters to realize millimeter-level data acquisition.Drilling experiments on jointed rock mass are conducted under conditions corresponding to joint opening degrees of 1 mm,3 mm,and 5 mm.The relationships among joint opening degree,drilling parameters,and width of rock failure region are investigated.A joint opening degree detection algorithm is proposed based on the drilling parameters and moving average filter.The results indicate that the curves of penetration velocity and rotary pressure along the drilling direction exhibit a three-segment distribution,i.e."stable segment-adjustment segment-stable segment".The variation curves of drilling parameters display a“velocity mountain”and a“pressure valley”in the failure region.The relative errors in joint opening degree estimation based on penetration velocity and rotary pressure range from 3.4%to 32%and from 6%to 35%,with average relative errors of 12.95%and 16.24%,respectively. 展开更多

Axial piston pumps have been widely used in aircraft hydraulic systems to supply the system with pressurized fluid. The continuous improvement of the aircraft performance has put forward the demand on aviation piston pumps for high power density, safety, and reliability. The lubricating interfaces in axial piston machines are the key design issue that greatly determines the pump performance and service life. The cylinder block/valve plate interface is one of these critical lubricating interfaces and has received considerable attention from many researchers in the last half century. This study aims to review the state-of-the-art literature on the cylinder block/valve plate interface comprehensively and systematically. First, we introduce various theoretical models developed to investigate the lubrication behaviors of the interface and compare them in terms of their assumptions and limitations. Second, the experimental studies on the cylinder block/valve plate interface are presented comprehensively, where the involved test rigs are divided into three types according to their fidelity levels and measurement functionality. Third, we summarize some typical approaches of structure optimization, surface shaping, and surface strengthening, which help improve the load-carrying and anti-wear capacities of the interface under severe operating conditions. Finally, the challenges and future trends of the cylinder block/valve plate interface research are discussed briefly. 展开更多

One test rig with three blades and two Under-Platform Dampers(UPDs) is established to better understand the dynamical behavior of blades with UPDs. A pre-loaded spring is used to simulate the centrifugal load acting on the damper, thereby achieving continuous adjustment of the pressing load. UPDs with different forms, sizes and materials are carefully designed as experimental control groups. Noncontact measurement via a laser Doppler velocimeter is employed and contact excitation which is performed by an electromagnetic exciter is adopted to directly obtain the magnitude of the excitation load by a force sensor mounted on the excitation rod. Particular attention is paid to the influence of the contact status of the contact surfaces, e.g. the pressure-sensitive paper is used to measure the effective contact area of the UPDs. The experimental variables are selected as the centrifugal force, the amplitude of the excitation force, the damper mass, the effective contact area, and the damper material. The Frequency Response Function(FRF) of the blade under different experimental parameters is obtained by slow frequency sweep under sinusoidal excitation to study the influence of each parameter on the dynamic characteristics of the blade and the mechanism analysis is carried out combined with the experimental results. 展开更多

The influence of gas high-temperature hot corrosion(HTHC) pre-exposure on low-cycle fatigue(LCF)behavior was characterized for the directionally solidified(DS) Ni-based superalloy DZ125. Fatigue tests were carried out at 850 ℃ in the pre-exposed and unexposed specimens for 2, 15 and 25 h. Experimental results show that the porous corrosion scale and γ′-depleted layer formed in gas hot corrosion condition alter the crack initiation mechanisms of the superalloy. Fatigue cracks of the pre-exposed specimens originate from multiple surface locations where spalling of the corrosion products occur,while nucleation of unexposed specimen begins in the defects close to the surface. There is a significant reduction in LCF behavior for pre-exposed specimens in comparison with unexposed specimens. 展开更多

As a high quality seismic imaging method, full waveform inversion (FWI) can accurately reconstruct the physical parameter model for the subsurface medium. However, application of the FWI in seismic data processing is computationally expensive, especially for the three-dimension complex medium inversion. Introducing blended source technology into the frequency-domain FWI can greatly reduce the computational burden and improve the efficiency of the inversion. However, this method has two issues: first, crosstalk noise is caused by interference between the sources involved in the encoding, resulting in an inversion result with some artifacts; second, it is more sensitive to ambient noise compared to conventional FWI, therefore noisy data results in a poor inversion. This paper introduces a frequency-group encoding method to suppress crosstalk noise, and presents a frequency- domain auto-adapting FWI based on source-encoding technology. The conventional FWI method and source-encoding based FWI method are combined using an auto-adapting mechanism. This improvement can both guarantee the quality of the inversion result and maximize the inversion efficiency. 展开更多

In wheel–rail adhesion studies,most of the test rigs used are simplified designs such as a single wheel or wheelset,but the results may not be accurate.Alternatively,representing the complex system by using a full vehicle model provides accurate results but may incur complexity in design.To trade off accuracy over complexity,a bogie model can be the optimum selection.Furthermore,only a real-time model can replicate its physical counterpart in the time domain.Developing such a model requires broad expertise and appropriate software and hardware.A few published works are available which deal with real-time modeling.However,the influence of the control system has not been included in those works.To address these issues,a real-time scaled bogie test rig including the control system is essential.Therefore,a 1:4 scaled bogie roller rig is developed to study the adhesion between wheel and roller contact.To compare the performances obtained from the scaled bogie test rig and to expand the test applications,a numerical simulation model of that scaled bogie test rig is developed using Gensys multibody software.This model is the complete model of the test rig which delivers more precise results.To exactly represent the physical counterpart system in the time domain,a real-time scaled bogie test rig(RT-SBTR)is developed after four consecutive stages.Then,to simulate the RT-SBTR to solve the internal state equations and functions representing the physical counterpart system in rigs used are simplified designs such as a single wheel or wheelset,but the results may not be accurate.Alternatively,representing the complex system by using a full vehicle model provides accurate results but may incur complexity in design.To trade off accuracy over complexity,a bogie model can be the optimum selection.Furthermore,only a real-time model can replicate its physical counterpart in the time domain.Developing such a model requires broad expertise and appropriate software and hardware.A few published works are available which deal with real-time modeling.However,the influence of the control system has not been included in those works.To address these issues,a real-time scaled bogie test rig including the control system is essential.Therefore,a 1:4 scaled bogie roller rig is developed to study the adhesion between wheel and roller contact.To compare the performances obtained from the scaled bogie test rig and to expand the test applications,a numerical simulation model of that scaled bogie test rig is developed using Gensys multibody software.This model is the complete model of the test rig which delivers more precise results.To exactly represent the physical counterpart system in the time domain,a real-time scaled bogie test rig(RT-SBTR)is developed after four consecutive stages.Then,to simulate the RT-SBTR to solve the internal state equations and functions representing the physical counterpart system in equal or less than actual time,the real-time simulation environment is prepared in two stages.To such end,the computational time improved from 4 times slower than real time to 2 times faster than real time.Finally,the real-time scaled bogie model is also incorporated with the braking control system which slightly reduces the computational performances without affecting real-time capability. 展开更多
