The use of Silane Coupling Agent(SCA)is an important way to improve the joining quality between metal and plastic.However,how to rationally use SCAs is still lack of guidance.We investigate the effect of type of SCA,soaking time of SCA,and combination of SCA on the interfacial features and joint performance of ultrasonically welded AA6061 to CF/PA6.Four SCAs(γ-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane(NQ54),γ-chloropropyltriethoxysilane(KH230),vinyltrimethoxysilane(A171),γ-aminopropyltriethyloxysilane(KH550))were selected.The results show that the optimal joint strength(30.2 MPa)is obtained when the Al sheets are soaked in KH550 for 3 min.A fully dehydrated condensation reaction occurs between the OAH of the KH550 and the OAH on the aluminum alloy surface,forming plenty of Si AOAAl bonds,which contribute to the improved wetting behavior of liquid PA6 on the aluminum alloy surface.However,the combination of SCAs leads to the consumption of functional groups,hindering the formation of Si AOAAl bonds,and therefore reducing the joint performance. 展开更多

Rapid corrosion of magnesium alloys in the physiological environment limits their use as orthopedic implant materials.Therefore,the silane film modified with nano-hydroxyapatite(n HA)was prepared on the surface of AZ31 magnesium alloy to improve its corrosion resistance.The silane films are continuous,uniform,and adherent well to the Mg substrate,and the modification of the film by n HA increased the thickness from~1.92 to~3.25μm.Compared to the bare substrate,the corrosion current density of the sample with the silane film modified with n HA decreases by three orders of magnitude from 9.23×10-5to 2.779×10-8A/cm~2.According to the immersion tests,it is found that the synergistic effect of sub-film corrosion and blistering is the dominant mode of film failure.During the immersion of less than 72 h,the modification by n HA improves the corrosion resistance by delaying the sub-film corrosion and blistering of the film. 展开更多

The new energy vehicle body composed of multi-metals requires a synchronous chemical conversion coating to exhibit excellent corrosion resistance.Herein,we prepared a titanium/zirconium/water-based oligomeric epoxy silane composite chemical conversion coating on multi-metals,and conducted an investigation into its electrochemical behavior and micro-zone structural characteristics upon immersion in a 3.5%NaCl solution.The electrochemical results combined with characterization results revealed that the corrosion evolution characteristics of the composite coatings could be categorized into three stages of mild corrosion,synergistic protection,and substrate damage.Besides,Si-OH groups interact with Me-OH at the defect on the multi-metal surface to form an organic monolayer coating.This organic monolayer coating,in conjunction with the synergistic inorganic conversion layer comprising Al2O3,TiO2,2H2O,ZrO2,2H2O,effectively cooperates with the corrosion products to hinder the erosion by the corrosive medium and suppresses the progression of the anodic reaction. 展开更多

An environmentally friendly waterborne polyurethane(CWPU)emulsion was developed via a dual modification strategy by combining both the silane coupling agent KH-602 with renewable castor oil(CO)as a sustainable substitute for petroleum-based polyols.The resulting materials were thoroughly characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC).Furthermore,the influence of KH-602 content on the material properties was systematically investigated.The experimental results reveal that the incorporation of KH-602 significantly improves the thermal stability of the composite coating.As the KH-602 content increases,the tensile strength exhibits a gradual enhancement,while the elongation at break displays an initial increase followed by a subsequent decline.At an optimal KH-602 content of 3%,the coating demonstrates a balanced performance,achieving a tensile strength of 14.19 MPa and an elongation at break of 731.12%.These results suggest that the dual modification approach enhances mechanical and thermal properties while maintaining water resistance,making it suitable for sustainable coating applications. 展开更多

Hence, many pieces of literature which deal with the synthesis, properties and applications of this Silane terminated polymers hybrid system exist. Silylated polyether (MS polymers) and Silylated Polyurethane Polymers (SPUR) are the bases for numerous sealants, adhesives and coatings used worldwide. A hybrid system mixed with organic-polyurethane proportion and inorganic-alkoxysilane proportion combines the benefits of conventional polyurethane and silicone-based products. This article reviews the chemistry of MS polymers and SPUR and their advantages and disadvantages in silyl terminated prepolymer-based adhesives, sealants and coatings as well as provides information on different end applications. 展开更多

An acrylate emulsion was modified by adding vinyltriisopropoxy silane(trade name C-1706).By adding the multiple emulsifier which consists of an anionic emulsifier,sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS)and nonionic emulsifier,octyl phenolic divinyl oxide(OP-10),the acrylosilane microemulsion was synthesized by seeded emulsion polymerization.The influential factors including the kind and the adding amount of emulsifiers and the monomer variety of alkoxy silane and the added methods which influence on the properties of the microemulsion were investigated.It is found that SDBS and OP-10 as multiple emulsifiers with mass ratio of 1:1 and the adding amount of 2.5%-3.5%can act on co-effect for emulsion polymerization.The C-1706 possesses bulky isopropoxy substituent that can reduce hydrolysis reactivity during the polymerization process,so as to not only make the process smoothly but also advance the store stability of the emulsion.Moreover,the latter-addition mode of C-1706 can restrain its hydrolysis activity and polycondensation reaction during the polymerization process of the emulsion.The structure,the film cross section,the particle size and its distribution of the microemulsion were analyzed by the Fourier Transform Infrared Ray Spectrum(FTIR),Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM)and a particle size analyzer,respectively.The results show that the particle diameter of the modified microemulsion can be controlled between 50 and 70 nm and its film hardness is 7.3.Only adding 1.5%of C-1706 into the system of emulsion polymerization can apparently improve the weathering resistance of the microemulsion,which undergo degradation with chromatism(△E)is 1.6 after 3600 hours of QUV-aging. 展开更多

Mg(OH)2/Mg-Al-layered double hydroxide (LDH) coatings were modified with methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) on magnesium alloys. Effect of hydrolysis degree of silane solution on coating formation was investigated. Chemical compositions and surface morphologies of the coatings were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and field-emission scanning electronic microscopy (FESEM). Results indicated that the composite coatings consisted of polymethyltrimethoxysilane (PMTMS), LDH and Mg(OH)2. Electrochemical and hydrogen evolution measurements revealed that the composite coatings possessed good corrosion resistance, especially the ones prepared in a high hydrolysis degree of silane. The optimum corrosion resistance of the composite coati ng was LDH/PMTMS-3 coating, which had the lowest value of corrosion current density (5.537×10^-9 A·cm^-2) and a dense surface.Plausible mechanism for coating formation and corrosion process of MTMS-modified Mg(OH)2/Mg-Al-LDH coatings were discussed. 展开更多

An environmentally-friendly hybrid coating on AZ31 magnesium alloy substrates was reported.The synergic effect was studied on Mg−Al-layered double hydroxide Mg−Al LDH/Mg(OH)2-coated AZ31 magnesium alloy via an in-situ steam coating process and a subsequent combined surface modification of bis-[triethoxysilylpropyl]tetrasulfide(BTESPT)silane and Ce(NO3)3.The microstructure and composition characteristics of the hybrid coatings were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electronic microscopy(SEM),Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry(FT-IR)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The corrosion resistance of the coated samples was evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization(PDP),electrochemical impedance spectrum(EIS)and hydrogen evolution rate during immersion in 3.5 wt.%NaCl solution.The results show an improved corrosion resistance of the alloy in the presence of BTESPT silane and Ce(NO3)3.This is most likely due to the synergistic effect of steam coating and silane coating to enhance the barrier properties of hybrid coating.In addition,the formation mechanism and anti-corrosion mechanism of coatings were discussed. 展开更多

A polymethyltrimethoxysilane(PMTMS)/hydroxyapatite(HA) hybrid coating was successfully fabricated on a magnesium alloy by hydrothermal treatment and immersion method. The microstructure and composition of the coating were characterized by using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy.The physical properties were investigated using scratch testing. At the same time, the corrosion resistance was evaluated via electrochemical and immersion tests. The results demonstrated that the corrosion resistance of the silane hybrid coating was significantly enhanced compared with the naked magnesium alloy. Especially, the corrosion current density of the PMTMS/HA magnesium alloy was three orders of magnitude lower than that of the bare material. 展开更多

A complex film on hot-dip galvanized steel sheet(HDG) was prepared by immersing the sheet in 0.1wt.% Ce(NO3)3 solution and 5vol.% silane solution in turn.The corrosion protection of the complex film was evaluated by potentiodynamic linear polarization(LPR), electrochemical impendence spectra(EIS) and natural salt spray(NSS) tests and compared with that of single cerium film and silane film.The results showed that, the presence of these films on the zinc coating hindered corrosion reaction by reducing the rate of both anodic and cathodic reaction in the corrosion process, and the corrosion protection of the complex film was much better than that of single cerium film or silane film and closed to that of chromate film, because the polarization resistance Rp and electrochemical impendence were increased markedly.Microstructure and chemical composition of these pretreated films were also investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and AES. 展开更多

The addition of graphene oxide(GO)to cement paste significantly increases its toughness,however its fluidity is adversely affected.GO was first reacted with vinyltrimethoxysilane to produce a silane-modified graphene oxide(S-GO),which was then copolymerized with acrylic acid and a water reducing agent,isobutaenol polyoxyethylene ether(molecular mass 2400),to obtain a silane and copolymer-modified GO(P-S-GO)which acted as a water-reducing agent of the cement paste.A copolymer without GO was prepared under the same conditions for comparison.The structure,elemental composition and dispersibility of GO,S-GO and P-S-GO in a simulated cement environment(saturated lime water)were investigated by FTIR,XRD and a sedimentation test.The fluidity and rheology of the cement pastes with added GO,copolymer or P-S-GO were investigated.Results showed that vinyltrimethoxysilane reacted with the-OH group on the GO sheets to form an ether bond and the copolymer was grafted onto a vinyl group of S-GO by an addition reaction to produce the P-S-GO.The P-S-GO has a better dispersibility in saturated lime water with a negligible amount of aggregation compared to GO and a significant agglomeration occurs for GO.The addition of the P-S-GO to the cement pastes improves the fluidity and rheological properties compared with GO,offsetting the negative impact of GO and increasing the toughness of the resulting cements. 展开更多

A novel waterborne epoxy curing agent was prepared using 3-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) as a termination agent of adduct, which was synthesized by triethylene tetramine (TETA) and liquid epoxy resin (E-51). The effects of the reaction temperature and time on the synthesis process were investigated experimentally. The particle size and the distribution of water dispersion of the curing agent were measured by dynamic light scattering(DLS). The structure of the products was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spec-trometer (FTIR) and ^1H-nuclear magnetic resonance (^1H NMR). The properties of the synthesized curing agent and the epoxy resin film cured by it were also measured. The results showed that the appropriate temperature for the synthesis of adduct was at 65-75℃ and the reaction time was 4-5h, and that the suitable reaction temperature of curing agent synthesis was 75-85℃ and the reaction time was 3-4h. When the mass ratios of GPTMS and acetic acid were 3%-5% and 5%-10% respectively, the hardness, water resistance and adhesion of the cured film were improved significantly. 展开更多

The chemical composition and high wear resistance of steel slag(SS)make it a potential alternative to traditional inorganic fillers.3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane(KH550)modified steel slag(MSS)was successfully prepared,and its application in epoxy(EP)anti-corrosion coating was introduced.Due to the grafting of silane coupling agent functional groups onto the surface of SS,MSS exhibited improved solubility in xylene organic solvent and reduced agglomeration.When the MSS content was 15 wt.%,the contact angle of the MSS/EP composite coating was 101°,and the abrasion was only 0.07 g,compared with 56.2°and 0.13 g,respectively,for the pure EP coating.The corrosion resistance of coatings was investigated by performing the electrochemical test(impedance)after immersion in a 3.5 wt.%NaCl solution.The electrochemical test results showed that the impedance modulus of the 15 wt.%MSS/EP composite coating at low frequency(Zf=0.01 Hz)was approximately 1.08×107Ωcm2,which was two orders of magnitude higher than that of the pure EP coating. 展开更多

The corrosion behavior of hot dip galvanized steel pretrvated with bis-[triethoxysilylpropyl] tetrasulfide (BTESPT) modified with alumina particles was studied. The corrosion resistance of the passiving films was evaluated by Tafel polarization curve and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The films formed on the galvanized steel substrate were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry. The surface morphology of the treated hot dip galvanized steel samples was observed by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope. The results show that the pretrvatments on the basis of silane films modified with nanoalumina particles have reduced both anodic and cathodic current densities, and increased total impedance in the measured frequency, consequently, improving corrosion protection for hot dip galvanized steel during immersion in NaCl solutions compared to chromate films and silane films. 展开更多

Based on the difference of the Y-terminal functional group of the silane coupling agent(Y-Si(X)3),four different silane coupling agents were employed to pretreat the surface of the NdFeB powders.The effects of silane coupling agents on the flowability and compressibility of compounds for preparing bonded NdFeB magnets were studied.It is indicated that compounds pretreated by silane coupling agents have weaker friction and meshing force.The apparent density is increased by 0.3 g/cm^(3 )compared with the compound without silane coupling agent,and the radial crushing strength is significantly increased by about 3-4 times.In addition,the epoxy resin is more evenly distributed on the surface of the compounds treated by silane coupling agents observed by scanning electron microscopy,and some agglomerated particles are produced.Also,the compressibility of compounds with silane coupling agents is significantly improved due to the fact that hardening exponents are reduced.However,the addition of silane coupling agents has almost no effect on the magnetic properties of bonded magnets.The special energy was used to manifest the flowability of magnetic powder particles representing the macroscopic performance of the force between powder particles,providing a new direction for the study of the interface compatibility of two-phase or multiphase composite materials. 展开更多

In an aqueous solution of the mixtures of γ-amino propyl triethoxy silane and γ-glycidoxy propyl trimethoxy silane, a composite silane conversion coating was developed on galvanized steel. FESEM (field emission scanning electron microscope), XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), ATR FTIR (attenuated total reflection Flourier transform infrared spectroscopy) and SST (salt spray test) were used to characterize the obtained composite silane conversion coating and also the coating formation process was studied. The result showed that the surface of the composite silane conversion coating was complete, consecutive and compact. The coating could endure a neutral salt spray test for 72 h without corrosion. The result of salt spray test indicated that the composite silane conversion coating can provide a better corrosion inhibition than the coating which was composed of the single silane. Based on observation and analysis, it was proposed that the formation process of the silane coating on zinc should consist of three steps: the hydrolysis of the silane molecules, silane chemical adsorption and silane crosslinking condensation. The crosslinking reactions took place between ~'-amino propyl triethoxy and "/-glycidoxy propyl trimethoxy silane during the forming process of the coating, and a high crosslinked density interpenetrating structure network was obtained, so the composite silane conversion coating could keep the corrosive substances from the zinc more effectively. 展开更多

This study demonstrated the influence of addition concentration of La3+ on the anti-corrosion behavior of a 3-methacry- loxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS) film formed on AZ31 magnesium alloy. The morphology and surface chemistry of the samples were evaluated through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), respectively. The corrosion resistance of the pre-treated AZ31 magnesium alloy was studied during immersion in 0.1 mol/L NaC1 solution, using poten- tiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS). In comparison to MPS film, the low concentration of La3+ ion modified silane layer exhibited a better anti-corrosion performance, nevertheless, the high concentration of La3+ ion modified was worse. Results showed that the preferable addition concentration of La3+ ion in the silane film was 5Х 10-4 mol/L in this experi- ment. 展开更多
