Searching for new resonances and finding out their properties is an essential part of any existing or future particle physics experiment. The nature of a new resonance is characterized by its spin, charge conjugation, parity, and its couplings with the existing particles of the Standard Model. If a new resonance is found in the four lepton final state produced via two intermediate Z bosons, the resonance could be a new heavy scalar or a Z boson or even a higher spin particle. In such cases a step by step methodology as enunciated in this paper can be followed to determine the spin, parity and the coupling to two Z bosons of the parent particles, in a fully model-independent way. In our approach we show how three uni-angular distributions and a few experimentally measurable observables can conclusively tell us about the spin, parity as well as the couplings of the new resonance to two Z bosons. We have performed a numerical analysis to validate our approach and showed how the uni-angular observables can be used to disentangle the spin parity as well as the coupling of the resonance. 展开更多

Quantum phase interference and spin-parity effects are studied in biaxial molecular magnets in a magnetic field at an arbitrarily directed angle. The calculations of the ground-state tunnel splitting are performed on the basis of the instanton technique in the spin-coherent-state path-integral representation, and complemented by exactly numerical diagonalization. Both the Wentzel–Kramers–Brillouin exponent and the pre-exponential factor are obtained for the entire region of the direction of the field. Our results show that the tunnel splitting oscillates with the field for the small field angle, while for the large field angle the oscillation is completely suppressed. This distinct angular dependence, together with the dependence of the tunnel splitting on the field strength, provides an independent test for spin-parity effects in biaxial molecular magnets. The analytical results for the molecular magnet are found to be in good agreement with the numerical simulations, which suggests that even the molecular magnet with total spin is large enough to be treated as a giant spin system. 展开更多

Studies of e^+e~→D_s^+■(*0)K^-and the P-wave charmed-strange mesons are performed based on an e^+e^-collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 567 pb-1 collected with the BESIII detector at s1/2=4.600 GeV. The processes of e^+e^-→D_s^+■*0K^- and D_s^+■~0K^- are observed for the first time and are found to be dominated by the modes D_s^+Ds1(2536)^-and D_s^+Ds2~*(2573)^-, respectively. The Born cross sections are measured to be σ~B(e^+e^-→D_s^+■*0K^-) =(10.1±2.3±0.8) pb and σ~B(e^+e^-→D_s^+■~0K^-) =(19.4±2.3± 1.6) pb, and the products of Born cross section and the decay branching fraction are measured to be σ~B(e^+e^-→D_s^+Ds1(2536)^-+c.c.)·B(Ds1(2536)^-→■*0K^-)=(7.5±1.8±0.7) pb and σ~B(e^+e^-→D_s^+Ds2~*(2573)^-+ c.c.)·B(Ds2~*(2573)^-→■~0 K^-)=(19.7 ± 2.9 ±2.0) pb. For the Ds1(2536)^-and Ds2~*(2573)^-mesons, the masses and widths are measured to be M(Ds1(2536)^-)=(2537.7±0.5 ±3.1) MeV/c2, Γ(Ds1(2536)^-) =(1.7 ±1.2 ±0.6)MeV, and M(Ds2~*(2573)^-)=(2570.7±2.0 ±1.7) MeV/c^2, Γ(Ds2~*(2573)^-)=(17.2 ±3.6 ±1.1) MeV. The spin-parity of the Ds2~*(2573)^-meson is determined to be J^p= 2^+. In addition, the processes e^+e^-→D_s^+■(*0)K^-are searched for using the data samples taken at four(two) center-of-mass energies between 4.416(4.527) and 4.575 GeV, and upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the cross sections are determined. 展开更多
