The program of“Foreign Language Plus”aims to offer some non-foreign-language courses,which guide us to the knowledge system about other disciplines,to foreign language students to widen their horizon and enhance their competitiveness.The study first reviews the previous studies on the“Foreign-Language-Plus”Talent Development Program of foreign language majors.Then based on the results of a survey conducted among 235 teachers and 352 students of foreign language majors in China’s universities,it discusses these questions:Why is“plus”?What is“plus”?How can“plus”be achieved?How can the effect of“plus”be evaluated?Then,it demonstrates the main topics that related research and practical work need to focus on in the future:choice of integrated disciplines,setting of integrated curriculum,teachers’professional training,students’quality,evaluation of efficiency,utilization of teaching resources,and exploration of high-tech-aided instruction.Finally,it is proposed that the“Foreign Language Plus”program is one of the workable solutions to the problems foreign language majors are confronted with. 展开更多

Based on a comprehensive investigation of the employment status of architectural design graduates at a certain university,this paper analyzes the correctness of the talent development direction of architectural design in hopes of pro-viding a valuable reference for further teaching reform and strengthening school-enterprise collaboration.The research re-sults show that architectural design is the main choice of graduates,accounting for as high as 63%,and traditional architec-tural design skills continue to be in demand in the market.Employment in fields such as interior design,BIM design,and green architecture is also included.The distribution of job positions for graduates is mainly in the areas of scheme design assistants and construction drawing design,requiring software operation,communication,scheme design,and construction drawing skills.This paper also proposes talent development measures such as optimizing the curriculum,strengthening faculty construction,and deepening school-enterprise collaboration,in order to improve the quality of talent development and the competitiveness of graduates. 展开更多

The Psychological Characteristics of Developing Excellence(PCDEs)are psycho-behavioral skills enabling talented athletes to excel in achievement-based contexts.Although Africa overflows with talented footballers struggling to develop locally,no study has investigated the PCDEs in African footballers yet.This study aimed to test the reliability of the Psychological Characteristics of Developing Excellence Questionnaire-Short Version(PCDEQ-SV)across three African football nations(Morocco,Côte d’Ivoire,and Cameroon)and to assess and compare psycho-behavioral skills in academy footballers.Participants(n=506)aged 10 to 23 completed the PCDEQ-SV.Results from factor analyses and Kruskal–Wallis testing support a good fit for PCDEQ-SV.In the overall sample,the least and the most developed PCDEs were coping skills,and evaluating performances and working on weaknesses,respectively.This study provides a reliable measurement tool to measure PCDEs in African academy footballers and to design interventions effectively. 展开更多

Purpose China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest(CASTIC)has created a better experimental environment for science education than that provided by formal schooling.In order to assess its educational effect,this study examines different talent development models resulting from CASTIC,as well as learning environment and processes it fosters.Design/Approach/Methods This multi-case study sampled teachers and students from different schools that participated in the Shanghai division of CASTIC,and then analyzed the implementation process of CASTIC as well as various models it formed for talent development.Findings This study argues that,by constructing multiple settings for learning involving schools,science clubs,and competitions,CASTIC enables schools to establish diversified talent development models based on process motivation.As structural problems arising from the inadequacy of educational resources for science and technology innovation continue to limit the educational effectiveness of these competitions,a series of curriculum reforms and institutional designs are necessary to fully harness the educational power of science and technology innovation competitions.Originality/Value This study provides an important reference for understanding the talent training mechanism of science competition and exploring its future development. 展开更多

The low-altitude economy,centered on civil manned and unmanned aerial vehicles,is profoundly reshaping industries such as logistics,agriculture,urban management,and emergency response.However,the rapid expansion of this sector has exposed a critical mismatch between the growing demand for skilled professionals and the insufficient supply of qualified talent.This paper examines how skill-based education can empower industrial development through the low-altitude economy,identifying three core mechanisms:knowledge transmission,technology translation,and job matching.It then analyzes major challenges including outdated competency standards,inadequate practical training resources,shortages of qualified instructors,shallow industry,education collaboration,and negative social perceptions that reduce career attractiveness.The study proposes systematic solutions:building a competency-based dynamic curriculum,establishing virtual-physical integrated simulation platforms,implementing a dual-track instructor development system,creating full-life-cycle industry,education partnerships,and improving multi-stakeholder governance.A discussion section further addresses the articulation between vocational and academic education,regional resource equity,cultivation of ethical and safety awareness,lifelong learning systems,and international perspectives.This research provides a theoretical framework and practical guidance for leveraging human capital to sustain the growth of the low-altitude economy. 展开更多

Purpose The aim of the present study was to evaluate the trunk strength capacity of alpine ski racers aged 10-18 years,who were tested during the last 15 years,to identify reference values for trunk flexor to extensor strength ratios according to age and sex.Methods In total,2841 participants(1605 males,1236 females;10-18 years)were included,who were pupils of a famous skiing-specific secondary modern school or members of the provincial ski team between 2006 and 2020.The maximum isometric trunk flexion and extension strength was measured using the slightly modified Back Check.Sex-specific differ-ences were assessed with Student’s t test or Mann-Whitney-U test.Univariate analyses of variance or Kruskal-Wallis-H tests were used to assess differences between age groups.Descriptive sex-and age-specific reference values were calculated(norm area:mean±½standard deviation).Results Sex-specific differences were found for both flexion(starting at 11 years)and extension strength(starting at 12 years)(P<0.001).Lower flexion to extension strength ratios were identified for males(0.89±0.18)compared with females(0.82±0.15),but the ratios remained constant across age groups for both sexes.Conclusion The present study provides age-and sex-specific reference values for trunk flexion to extension strength ratios for 10-to 18-year old youth and adolescent ski racers.The data of the present study represent a large data pool of youth ski racers at a high-performance level;thus,coaches can use the reference values for comparing the ratios of their athletes. 展开更多
