PtCo/TbFeCo ferro-/ferri-exchange coupled double layer film （ECDL） was fabricated for high density magnetooptical （MO） data storage. At room temperature （RT）, the PtCo film is in-plane magnetized and acts as a mask layer. However, at elevated temperature, it turns to be out-of-plane magnetized because of the strong exchange coupling interactions with the TbFeCo layer. Therefore, this ECDL film has a magnetically induced superresolution （MSR） effect. Combining it with the good Kerr signal at short wavelength, the PtCo/TbFeCo film can be a good candidate for blue laser-MSR MO data storage. 展开更多

An advanced readout system fitting for the WMOC is introduced in this paper. The hardware mainly consists of the light source for reading, WMOC, motorized stages addressing unit, microscope imaging unit, CCD detecting unit and PC controlling & processing unit. The movement of the precision motorized stage is controlled by the computer through Visual Basic (VB) language in software. A control panel is also designed to get the layer address and the page address through which the position of the motorized stages can be changed. The WMOC readout system is easy to manage and the readout result is directly displayed on computer monitor. 展开更多

Firstly, the definitions and importance of flipped classroom and cultural communication are introduced. Then, the paper explores how to integrate the principles and methods of flipped classroom into the practice of intercultural communication teaching, including pre-class activities, in-class interactions, and reflection. This paper conducts a comparative study of Li Jihong’s and Chen Yixuan’s English Chinese translation versions of The Moon and Sixpence from the perspective of Toury’s Translation Norms.Adequacy and acceptability are emphasized in Toury’s Initial Norms,reflected in his Operational Norms.In the translation process,the translator must create a compromise between adequacy and acceptability.It is found that at the lexical,syntactic,and paratextual levels,Chen’s translation seems to conform to the norms of the target culture and language in terms of acceptability,while Li’s translation tends to conform to the norms of the source culture and language in terms of adequacy. 展开更多

Through the close reading of the novel, the paper is going to analyze the text in three aspects： the distorted and transformed humanity; the great torture on female characters＇ body and mind in the family dominated by the authority of the male; and the females＇ different attitudes such as submission and struggle towards it. Mass media has become an important platform for countries to connect with the outside world and exchange information.However,due to the differences in values,beliefs,and conventions of each country,misunderstandings are likely to occur in the processes of reading,translation,and communication.Catastrophic news,as an indispensable part of news reporting,is worth studying,especially the differences in this kind of news between China and American,to find out the cultural reasons leading to inconsistencies.This study selects some of the disaster reports in People’s Daily and Washington Post to examine what are reported and how they are reported,and then uses Hofstede’s Theory of Cultural Dimension to explore the cultural values reflected in the different features of Chinese and American catastrophic news.The results show that China and the US are quiet different in power distance,collectivism or individualism,and uncertainty avoidance. 展开更多

The transmission spectrum of the coated phase-shifted long-period fiber gratings(LPFGs) with single and multiple phase shifts is analyzed by the coupled-mode theory and the transfer matrix method,and the influences of the film parameters on the spectral characteristics are also studied.It is shown that these parameters will affect the LPFG filtering characteristics.The loss peak of transmission spectrum decreases with the increase of film thickness,and the peak position shifts with the film refractive index.Compared with the non-coated phase-shifted LPFG,the coated one has the similar desirable filtering characteristics,and it has a flexible ability to adjust the transmission properties. 展开更多

English N + N compounds, showing a complicated construction of meaning, can be divided into two categories: coordinate compounds and attribute-head compounds. As cognitive linguistics develops, many scholars conduct their researches by using cognitive mechanisms like conceptual blending theory and categorization. However, few scholars reveal N + N compounds’ meaning construction mechanism by applying principles of image schema. This study aims to explore the meanings of English compounds from the perspective of image schema. High-frequency coordinate and attribute-head compounds are selected from the Large Database of English Compounds (LADEC), and their meanings are analyzed based on schemas existing among them. It is found that word meaning can be constructed according to its corresponding image schema, and the meaning of a compounding word is closely related to human cognition. This study extends the application range of cognitive linguistics and provides more trains of thoughts to the research related to N + N compounding words. 展开更多

Scale-free topology and high clustering coexist in some real networks, and keep invariant for growing sizes of the systems. Previous models could hardly give out size-independent clustering with self- organized mechanism when succeeded in producing power-law degree distributions. Always ignored, some empirical statistic results display flat-head power-law behaviors. We modify our recent coevo- lutionary model to explain such phenomena with the inert property of nodes to retain small portion of unfavorable links in self-organized rewiring process. Flat-head power-law and size-independent clustering are induced as the new characteristics by this modification. In addition, a new scaling relation is found as the result of interplay between node state growth and adaptive variation of connections. 展开更多
